Special Conditions: A kill-count will be listed at the end of each DM post. After certain numbers have passed, a mini-boss or five will make themselves present. We will be operating on a one-week posting timer. If you do not post within one week of the most recent post when it's your turn in the posting order, your post will be skipped.

Standing alongside his comrades, Albin took a deep breath while he listened to Ludwig's words. It seemed Hell was invading. Just the thought of the idea made Albin sick to his stomach; after his minimal interaction with Brutus, he couldn't say that he was fond of them much at all. Though, it seemed that he knew what was going to be necessary here; anything and everything that crossed not just his, but anyone's path needed to die. With an energetic shout of "YES SIR!" Albin immediately got to his station.

Standing just outside the Southern Gate, Albin stood with his allies, and drew his Zanpakuto. Taking a leadership role, despite his low station, Albin did what he could to garner some morale amongst his peers. At the very least, something like that was going to be helpful. "All right, everyone! Captain Ludwig put us in charge of defending this gate! I'll be damned if that's not exactly what we're gonna do! I'll do what I can to defend where I'm able to, but everyone else; please, keep yourselves safe! We've got a lot to deal with here, and can't afford to lose anyone! We're already vastly outnumbered by the looks of it, and y'all are all incredibly important in your own right! If you need to tag out, don't hesitate to do so! As for the rest of us, let's get this show on the road!"

Sheathing his weapons simultaneously, Albin took a deep breath. "If only Captain Ludwig was hear to see this; Shine Like Stars, Tengoku no Hikari! Darken The Sky, Tengoku no Yami!" As he finished speaking, and subsequently exploded with reishi of varying colors, Albin eventually stood amongst his peers, having visibly changed. His hair was now blue, and all of his robes or otherwise traditional wear had been quickly replaced with what appeared to be a white suit. Holding his hand out, Albin allowed a longsword made almost entirely of hardened light to form in his hand.

"FOR THE RUKONGAI!" Albin shouted at the top of his lungs, as he made his way into the advancing horde surrounding the South Gate. Heaving his blade as forcefully as he could, Albin began with decapitating the first demon to enter his melee range. Allowing the force he'd generated from swinging his blade to carry him, he spun while taking a step forward, before slashing cleanly through the next nearest hellion. With another spin, Albin threw his blade as far as he could, allowing it to pierce through about five or so others that also threatened to approach.

Pointing his hand back toward the gate, Albin concentrated some of his reiatsu toward an area about thirty or so feet away from him, as a blackened, crystalline structure formed itself behind those defending the gate. "Keep that safe," he shouted, allowing a very stylized naginata to form in his hand, "I'll be back for that later!" Jamming his weapon into the ground, Albin channeled reiatsu through the ground beneath him. Not a second later, a trail of blackened spikes, not unlike the pylon he'd created previously rose from the ground with tremendous force, impaling and executing about ten or so hellions that got caught in the line of fire. With a smile, Albin spoke once more. "Lord, this is gonna be fun."

{Overall Ability}
Tengoku is a set of Zanpakuto with the ability to shift its user toward a few different steps of progression, depending on the actions that the user takes. Upon releasing, Albin is required to keep track of two separate resources that will influence different steps in his progression in a fight; Essence of Stars and Essence of Space. Tengoku no Hikari will generate Essence of Stars while being used, and Tengoku no Yami will generate Essence of Space while being used. The amount of Essences generated are dependent on how both releases are being utilized, but certain actions will generate more, and certain actions will generate less. Upon entering Shikai, Albin sheathes his Zanpakuto. Should he unsheathe his weapons at all during this process, his release immediately ends.

Both Essence of Stars and Essence of Space are only able to scale to a certain amount; that amount being 100. Upon hitting 100 Essences of either variety, the opposite Essence that did not reach 100 will instead be locked from generating additional Essences, and techniques regarding that Essence are instead converted to the other (this means that upon reaching 100 Essence of Stars, Tengoku no Yami will no longer be able to generate Essence of Space, and all of Tengoku no Yami's techniques will be converted from dark-themed techniques, to light-themed techniques.

Upon unlocking Bankai, Albin will actually be unable to directly make use of it upon entering a thread. Only after obtaining 75 or more Essences of either type will Albin be able to spend the reiatsu to activate Bankai. Until 75 in at least one of these Essences is obtained, Bankai is unusable. That said, depending on which Essences reach this point when Bankai is released, Albin's Bankai will change slightly. More on that in Tengoku no Nisshoku's Overall Ability, though. Should either of these Essences reach 100, however, Albin is given the benefit of paying 25% less reiatsu in order to enter Bankai (800 normally would be 600, 400 normally would be 300, etc.).

{Tengoku no Hikari Overall Ability}
Tengoku no Hikari, or Heaven's Light, is a release that focuses around the use of Starlight-based physical abilities in order to dominate a fight, mimicking that of the stars in space. Predominantly, this is through the creation of starlight weaponry in order to get the job done. At any point he desires after Tengoku no Hikari is released, Albin can spend any amount of reiatsu in order to create melee weapons of starlight. These weapons take any form Albin desires at the time of creation, and have a durability equal to the reiatsu spent in order to create the weapon, up to 600 in Shikai, and 1,200 in Bankai. These weapons have a Strength equal to Albin's own Strength, even when being wielded telepathically. These weapons can be controlled by Albin telepathically, and move at a speed equal to his own. These weapons can only travel up to thirty feet away from him at any given time. Anything struck by these swords will be inflicted by solar burns, akin to that of touching a star, but not nearly as hot. These weapons, for all intents and purposes, are Albin's Zanpakuto. Using these weapons telepathically does not transfer over any mastery of them via Skill Points; they're treated as though they have 0 Ranks in weapon skills.

For every 100 reiatsu that Albin spends in order to either utilize Tengoku no Hikari's Overall Ability, or spends in order to cast Tengoku no Hikari's techniques, Albin generates 1 Essence of Stars. Upon reaching 100 Essence of Stars, all of Tengoku no Hikari's techniques are strengthened in ways specifically listed in each technique. Essence of Stars that are generated are tallied when they're earned.

Upon reaching 100 Essence of Space, Tengoku no Hikari's release shifts to accommodate that of Tengoku no Yami. Instead of being themed around starlight, Tengoku no Hikari is instead changed to that of space. Starlight weaponry instead becomes space-forged weaponry, and utilizes the frozen hell of space that Tengoku no Yami tends to produce. In addition to this change, both Tengoku no Hikari's Overall Ability, and Zanpakuto techniques utilize Spiritual Pressure instead of Strength. Tengoku no Hikari's weapon range is also doubled.

{Tengoku no Yami Overall Ability}
In direct contrast to Tengoku no Hikari's starlight-focused powers, Tengoku no Yami focuses instead on spatial manipulation in order to combat foes spiritually. Much like how Tengoku no Hikari grants Albin a new "basic attack", Tengoku no Yami does the same, but in a different way. Through Tengoku no Yami, Albin is able to fire off bolts of spatial energy from his hands. By holding out his hand, Albin is able to spend 50 reiatsu in order to fire off a spiritual bolt of blackened, galactic reiatsu at 500 speed. This bolt of reiatsu has a Spiritual Pressure equal to Albin's. Upon contact with anything, these bolts explode with spatial energy, hitting anything within a five foot radius of the bolt and afflicting a sort of freezer-burn to anything struck, mimicking the cold vacuum of space. These bolts travel up to 60 feet before dissipating.

For every 100 reiatsu that Albin spends in order to either utilize Tengoku no Yami's Overall Ability, or spends in order to cast Tengoku no Yami's techniques, Albin generates 1 Essence of Space. Upon reaching 100 Essence of Space, all of Tengoku no Yami's techniques are strengthened in ways specifically listed in each technique. Essence of Space that are generated are tallied at the end of the post they're earned in, as opposed to the time they're earned.

Upon reaching 100 Essence of Stars, Tengoku no Yami's release shifts to accommodate that of Tengoku no Hikari. Instead of being themed around space, Tengoku no Yami instead changes to fit that of the star-focused aesthetic. Space-imbued bolts of reiatsu instead become starlight-aligned, reiatsu-laced shockwaves, and utilize the blinding radiance that Tengoku no Hikari creates. In addition to this change, both Tengoku no Yami's Overall Ability, and Zanpakuto techniques utilize Strength instead of Spiritual Pressure. Bolts fired from Tengoku no Yami's Overall now function identical to shockwaves.

{Galactic Pylon}
Name: Galactic Pylon

Bias: Galaxy

Range: Within 100 feet of Albin.

Cost: 200 reiatsu.

Description: Upon spending the reiatsu cost, Albin creates a pylon of space-augmented reiatsu; a small eye with two lingering points both on the top and bottom. This pylon serves two different purposes; absorbing latent reiatsu in the area, and firing off bolts of space with said reiatsu. Upon using this technique, one pylon is created within 10 feet of Albin, wherever he desires, with 0 reiatsu but 200 extra durability. From there, this pylon takes in 100 reiatsu every post. As these pylons take in more reiatsu, their appearance will shift slightly, as small flecks of light appear across them, mimicking stars in an otherwise barren space. These pylons possess a durability exactly equivalent to the amount of reiatsu stored inside of them, and upon taking damage, will lose an amount of reiatsu equal to the OS of the attack made against them. Albin may physically crush these Pylons in order to absorb the reiatsu stored inside of them. Albin may not go over his maximum reiatsu in this way, and every 100 reiatsu absorbed through this method grants Albin an Essence of Space. If Albin leaves this 100-foot range, these pylons deactivate and the reiatsu they stored is lost. 5 of these Pylons can be active at any given time, and considering they're densely-packed reiatsu batteries, even those with 0 Energy Sensory can detect these.

At 100 Essence of Space, these Pylons instead absorb 150 reiatsu every post, and these pylons can spend their reiatsu in order to fire off a bolt of space reiatsu through Tengoku no Yami's Overall Ability. At 100 Essence of Stars, these pylons don't fire off bolts, but instead have the option to form as weapons per Tengoku no Hikari's Overall Ability.

{Astral Precipice}
Name: Astral Precipice

Bias: Galaxy

Range: 30 feet.

Cost: 200 reiatsu.

Description: Upon paying the reiatsu cost, Albin can manifest a trail of spatial spikes that break through the ground, rising outward at a speed of 600. These spikes impale with a force equal to Albin's Spiritual Pressure, and travel in a wave that reaches this 30 foot distance at a speed of 800. Upon impaling a target, these spikes will break off in whatever was struck, siphoning 50 reiatsu per post to the nearest Pylon. These spikes can be pulled out, but doing so while remaining unfazed from this action requires at least 2 Ranks in Pain Tolerance. Anything less will cause so much pain from those that try that they find themselves unable to do so. This technique can only be stacked on a person once, but can be reapplied should they remove these spikes.

At 100 Essence of Space, these spikes require at least 3 Ranks in Pain Tolerance to pull out. At 100 Essence of Stars, weapons summoned through Tengoku no Hikari's Overall Ability instead manifest these spikes, allowing them to be broken off on successful melee attacks with said weapons. These spikes fade off of the weapons in question should this attack miss.

[Arcadus]

Arcadus had been in the middle of a very enjoyable stream of creativity when he heard that the Rukongai was being flooded with demons. He was working on the start of a server, and had made some space on his floor to host it. He was just about to begin plugging things in when Atlas had warped in. "Well, it sounds like an excellent source of entertainment, if nothing else. Besides, demon essence and flesh is useful for alchemical ritual, and the possibility to scavenge a few of the Gotei's cherished zanpakuto's would be a good opportunity."

Warping into the Rukon, Arcadus could already see the massive stream's of demons, Hell gates, and the southern wall. Besides the masses of burning, screaming reiatsu around him, and the huge flaming portal walls, he could sense some familiar reiatsu. In the distance, Alastor and Orabas fought, and, watching the captains rush in, Arcadus figured he shouldn't intervene. Having a member of the Espada defending Soul Society superiors would not only look bad for him, but for all involved. 

Focusing on the forces infront of him, demons poured out, a flood of burning, gnashing, screaming souls. Descending to the ground, Arcadus drew his swords, his spiritual steel tachi from Urahara, and leaving his off hand open, grabbed one of the more durable looking stray demons. Screaming, gnashing, it began to flail and strike him, and, in a single motion, Arcadus swung the hellion like a whip, a shockwave tearing through the demon, from his wrist out through the demon's torso, splattering outwards as the shockwave flowed outwards, slicing through demons as it dissipated.

Holding the leg of the now puree'd demon limply, and with a disappointed look, Arcadus threw the leg at another demon, knocking it over. Plunging his sword into the demon, it burst like a baloon, coating the area in dust. So much for research. Hacking away through the hordes, Arcadus began looking for an even more durable hellion, but he sensed something as well, a presence he'd felt before, if only briefly, no, two, one far towards the wall, and now, one around him. 

A stray bolt of energy bounced off of his robes, and Arcadus was snapped back to the current situation. A massive hellion, some kind of strength specialist, came lumbering towards him. Not strong enough apparently, because as they clashed blades, Arcadus felt the blade chip and bite into the hellion's weapon. Twisting and throwing a kick into hits chest, it toppled over, letting go of its weapon. Grabbing the huge kanabo, it whirled over his head before throwing it into another group of demons. 

Picking up the ankle of the demon, Arcadus looked over to where Albin was charging in, and with a puzzled look, wondered where he had sensed them before.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHGGGG..." Luca doubled over in pain. he placed a hand over his eye. He was bleeding. He didn't know why. Nothing had happened, he had just been sleeping, and then...He could feel his heart sink. Something bad was happening. Something terrible, as a matter of fact. He had never been so sure of anything in his life. Ken'ichi was in danger. Mortal danger. Demons. Hell had something to do with it. He could feel Alastor's presence. Whatever was happening, Luca had to be there. No matter the cost. Even if he was wrong, no cost would be to great. He couldn't miss out on this. Distant battle called to him. Hell was on the march. The Seireitei was fucked.

From there, Luca had expended every possible contact with even the slightest chance of letting him hitch a ride to the seireitei. Seconds felt like hours. He dawned some armor he'd bought from Kitai. If he was charging into hell to find Ken'ichi, he would. He needed every advantage he could get. It had finally been Amare who returned his call. Sweet, stupid Amare. By the grace of fate, he was able to help Luca. Something about his fullbring. Whatever, Luca didn't have time to question it.

Luca's brain ran at a mile a minute. Still, he could piece together a story from the misgivings and the scattered messages from Kaen. The Seireitei was under attack. Ken'ichi was on the front lines, probably. Kaen was too, knowing him. If Luca wanted to save them, he would have to fight for the Soul Society. Against the very people he sought to infiltrate. He had hated them. Maybe he cared about his friends more. In a way, it defied all logic and expectation. Luca wasn't blind to that. Somewhere beneath all the powers, he was just a California kid jumping into the unknown. Maybe some part of him was scared. Terrified even. Luca had seen enough of hell to fear it. Though he knew he couldn't turn back now. Not when innocents were being slaughtered amidst the fight of the century. Not when Ken'ichi was still in danger. Thoughts of his friend flashed in his mind. After everything we've been through, everything he's done for me...What kind of person would I be if I let him face this alone?

I hope you know what you're doing, Luca.

That's funny...I was just thinking the same thing.

The clamoring of swords, screams, and explosions filled Luca's ears all at once. Fire, blood, steel. This was a war. Not a skirmish, not a gentlemanly engagement, it was total slaughter. The shift was jarring. Luca felt like he was going to be sick. An imp charged up to him, claws bared. Luca grabbed his skull and squeezed till he heard a pop. Instinct took over as more and more demons noticed the human who had appeared from nowhere. Luca was no martial artist, but he was strong. Strong enough to send demons flying with a punch or kick. Amidst the fight, he saw a line of shinigami forming. He ran to them, trampling any demon in his way. "HEY! I'M HERE TO HELP!" One of the shinigami, a bookish looking woman with a spear in hand called out "Go on, then! We don't know how long we can hold them, but we must delay them as long as we can! Understand?"

Luca nodded. "Lieutenant Ken'ichi Shihoin: Dark skin, purple hair, have any of you seen him?" Luca asked as the bookish shinigami peaked over the barricade to blast some kido. "No...I haven't seen him." Luca didn't have to answer. The bookish girl quickly piped up again. "Albin! He would know. He's giving orders here. Silverblue hair, kind of a prettyboy...Like you." Luca decided he'd let that last comment slide. He had no time for anything that wasn't killing demons, and protecting Ken'ichi. "Thank you." Luca gave her a soft smile, that was all he could do. She and her guys...They probably won't survive this... There was no time to get bogged down here, not when Ken'ichi was out there.

And yet...Luca didn't immediately begin his search for the silver-haired prettyboy. Luca knelt down and placed his hands on the ground. He allowed reiatsu to flow through him. He felt his will extending through the ground in tendrils...And then fissures began to form around him, extending outwards in a cone infront of him. "Come on...Come on!!!" Luca said amidst labored breaths and clenched teeth. The fissures grew wider as the earth shifted, swallowing several demons before the advancing force knew what was happening. The ground around the shinigami battlements began to shift as well, raising up  slightly at first, as dirt mounds hardened and formed into spiked walls. It was enough to adequately re-enforce this position. The demons would have a much harder time attacking this section of the defenses.

With that, Luca ran, only once looking behind him to see demons being impaled on the spiked walls, or falling into the pits he'd created. He scanned the shinigami lines for one meeting Albin's description...Luca felt him before he ever saw him. He was above the common soldiery, he was an angel on the battlefield. Luca darted towards him, minor soul command enhancing his movement. He ran until he was face to face with Albin. "Hey, no time to explain, I need to know where Ken'ichi Shihoin is right NOW!" Luca paused for a moment before deciding that was too long. "Please, he's in great danger, I have to find him!" Luca said, lying a little bit. Albin had to help. There was no other way, and Luca was going to be damned if he was held up any longer!

Withdrawing his blade from the dirt, Albin took a deep breath as he jumped back. Despite taking care of a handful of Hellions, it seemed he hadn't even started to make a dent in the numbers there. Great, he thought to himself, seems this is going to take quite a bit of time to deal with. I only hope that the Captain is all right... Just as quickly as they'd started, Albin's thoughts were immediately interrupted by a booming of reiatsu entering the area.

"STAY SAFE EVERYONE!" he shouted, doing what he could to continue to play makeshift leader, "DON'T BE UNNECESSARILY RECKLESS!" He didn't quite know how everyone was going to react, but he wanted to do what he could to make sure that the casualty count was kept to a minimum. Last thing he wanted was to deal with a loss of life not just within his own Squad, but throughout the entirety of the Gotei. He had no sway over the events at the other gates, but he'd be damned if he wasn't going to take charge to keep his home safe.

Though, being on the battlefield showed him something he truthfully didn't expect to ever make note of. While he took the opportunity to make his way back behind the barricades that a few other unseated officers set up, Albin saw something- no, someone rather bizarre. Squinting his eyes, he tried to make out the person down the line, deep within demon territory. Someone was using demons as a ragdoll! Chuckling to himself, Albin couldn't believe his eyes. He hadn't known anyone to be nearly that strong; at least, from those he'd interacted with in his own Squad.

Taking another deep breath, the boy readied his blade. Vaulting over the barricade, he charged forward with a shout, expertly weaving his way in between demons and slashing clean through any that happened to be within polearm's reach of him. As each of them crumbled away to ash with the searing of his starlight weaponry, he pressed forward deep into contested territory to find out just who decided to also get up-close and personal with these Hellions. Unfortunately his energy sensing capabilities weren't nearly strong enough to determine who it was otherwise.

Though, upon arrival, Albin made immediate note of who was in front of him; he'd recognized that man! With a large smile, Albin shouted out to him. "Arcadus?!" Continuing to clear through Saika, Hason, and Akki that made their way up toward him, Albin continued to try to rush to the side of the Espada. "It's been ages," he said in between each swing, "I haven't seen you since I was with Camila! How've you held up since then?" Assuming he'd answer, Albin put his attention back on the fight at hand, making sure that he wasn't about to get overrun from being so deep out into enemy lines.

As the two likely exchanged words, Albin took a moment to turn away to make sure his back was guarded when he'd seen another familiar face. Seemed as though the attack on Soul Society was bringing together quite a number of different folk. As a familiar Fullbringer rushed over to him, Albin got a running start toward him. Slamming the polearm's head into the dirt just moments before he'd arrived next to Luca, Albin vaulted over the Fullbringer, pulling his weapon from the ground, and bringing it straight down behind him; directly through demon skull.

Wasting no time to stand back up and continue fighting, Albin smiled toward Luca. "It's good to see you again, Luca! What brings you here?" It seemed that his question was going to be answered almost immediately. "Hey, no time to explain, I need to know where Ken'ichi Shihoin is right NOW! Please, he's in great danger, I have to find him!" Ken'ichi Shihoin. That name rung a bell; wasn't that the name of Squad 12's vice- "Gods," he said, hurriedly cutting off his own thoughts, "he's Squad 12's Vice, yeah? If that's the case, he should be deployed somewhere around the 40th district or so; just south of here. I can't leave my station here, but I'd be damned to let you just go without assistance!"

Once again panting his naginata into the ground, Albin threw himself into the air again, and held out his palm to the horde of hellions at the climax of his ascent. Taking aim directly in front of him, and out about forty or so feet, Rose launched eight consecutive blasts of spiritual energy from his hand. Looking like small chunks of space, each orb flew directly into the crowd, before promptly exploding with the appearance of a starry night sky across the area. Any demons within five feet of each of these explosions found themselves either destroyed outright by the force, or completely frozen over.

As he landed, Rose faced back toward the gate, while turning his head in Luca's direction. "If you need more cover fire, let me know! That should hopefully give you a running start though; stick to the air if you can, and for both of our sakes, please stay safe! I'll be back here if you need help getting Ken'ichi back here safely!" And with that, he broke into a sprint back toward the barricades, immediately taking notice of the fact that they looked much, much sturdier than before.

Leaping over them once more, Albin took a second to catch his breath. Looking around toward his squadmates, he immediately picked out a face from the crowd, and rushed over to the girl's side. "Takemi," he shouted, "how're things looking back here? Anybody hurt?" Turning around upon hearing her name called, the shorter Shinigami spoke up. "Albin!" she exclaimed, "I'm glad to hear you're safe. So far, so good; nobody's gotten hurt too badly, and it's nothing that the medical team here can't get cleaned up. Someone was looking for you, though; blonde hair, missing an-"

An explosion sounded just nearby, forcing everyone around to take cover. Quickly ducking behind the barricade that had formed, Albin turned around and made note of the mix of sparks and residual flame clearing off of the gate. Seemed that some cheeky Hellspawn was launching some attacks. "Met up with him already," Albin said to the girl, "everything's all sorted out there. He might be headed into the deeper districts of the Rukon; if you can let the other Kido specs know, please give give him some cover fire from back here. I'll do what I can to clear some out to help, but aside from our own lives, protecting him is our first priority!"

With a nod, the girl smiled. "Understood!" Giving her a quick hug, Albin took a few steps back. "You're the best, Takemi! Stay safe; I'll see you after this is all said and done, yeah?" Planting his polearm into the ground again, Albin leapt once more, and promptly slammed through demon skull once again. With that sorted out, he needed to see what he could do about making sure Luca had the support he needed to get out there; an excursion like that on his own was likely going to be hell.

This was bad. This was so very, very bad. It felt like a ball of lead had formed in the pit of his stomach, even as he ran towards the gate to the West. An army had been dropped on the heads of the Rukongai, summoned from the depths of Hell itself. He could scarcely believe it. Why would Hell be attack them? Why now of all times? There were a million questions he wanted to ask, but he knew this was no time for such things. The fact of the matter was that they were there, and they had to be stopped, by any means necessary. The Soul Reaper knew that this was going to be the worst day of his life.

Before he knew it, he was at the gate. Connor looked at the wooden barrier and felt a rush of dread. Still, he pressed on. He was a Vice Captain, a leader of his division, someone that people turned to for guidance. It was terrifying. "Fire from atop the gate! No matter what you see, no matter what you think you can do, do not come down to help me! My Zanpakuto will kill everything it touches!" Connor yells to all the seated and unseated officers in the area. Connor gazes down to the outside of the gate, staring down dozens, no, hundreds of Hellions.

"Lord, please, forgive me for what I must do." Connor draws his zanpakuto, already in shikai, and jumps. He holds the bastard sword with both hands clasped around the base of the hilt, and yells. "Bare my sins for all to loath! Bankai, Souruejji!" The black viscus liquid that had been coating the blade before was now pouring off the weapon. Globs of poison rained from the air as he fell, and slammed into the ground as he did. The blade imbedded itself into the earth with a thud, as the Hellions were blown back, Connor kneeling as he was surrounded by the forces of Hell. He rose to his feet, freeing his bankai from the earth.

The blade, if it could even be called that anymore, was a monstrosity to behold. The weapon was as tall as he was, seven feet in length, and looked to be made of bone and muscle. Teeth ran down the center of the blade, making it look like the toothy maw of a demon. Ironic given the circumstances. The Hellions had seen worse, he was sure. That was why he gave them not a moment of reprieve more, as he charged towards the closest abomination Hell had spat out at them. His weapon was light as a feather to the reaper, the blade being without weight to him. For the Sinner... it cleaved him in twain.

The demon was quite literally besides themselves in pain, yet both halves had yet to fall to the ground. Souruejji was not so nice as to let them die so easily. The maw of the beastly weapon was salivating that same black liquid as before, coating anything and everything it touched in the vile poison it produced. The Hellion was the first to experience this, as their innards began to stich themselves back together with the coaxing from the power of the Zanpakuto. Then it started screaming. Its bones snapped and twisted, skin budging and breaking, as their body reconstituted itself into a form more suited to what it truly was.

Connor dared not wait around to watch the horrific transformation. He spun about on his heel, sweeping his blade at the group behind him. A Poisoned Wave, stronger than any he had launched before shot towards those that had mead themselves the enemy of the Soul Society. Their upper bodies were separated from their lower halves in a violent display of brutality, launching them skyward, killing an untold number in an instant. It was a truly bizarre spectacle to witness, as a strand of his poison reconnected their bodies from such a distance. They too began to scream. A chorus of agony was started, and he the unwilling conductor.

They too began to lose their shape, gaining one more fitting for their past sins. Their skin turned a Hellish red, and fur coated their lower bodies. Horns burst out of their heads, as their bodies grew to ridiculous sizes. Each individual sinner was different, but they all towered over him, roughly forty feet in height. They were all screaming in pain. Connor pointed towards the other Hellions, those unconverted. "I care not how you do it, but kill! Kill all those who dare question the might of the Soul Society! Kill the Sinners who test us this day! Kill them all! But dare not touch not the inhabitants of the Rukojngai, or suffer as you do a thousand times over!"

Whether ort not they would listen to him was unknown. This was the first time Connor had dared use his Bankai. His weapon was unsuited for anything other than total and utter annihilation. Even now, he could feel the inky poison welling at his feet. The demons gave a cry of hate as they did their tasks. The stragglers in the area were targeted first, their cloven hooves stomping out the opposition, with their broken and mangled corpses reconstituting as more of the same. He wanted to sneer at the sight, but he only felt the urge to vomit. It was times like these that he was glad that he wore a mask, the visage of a porcelain skull resting atop his face like an omen of death.

[Wynne Kuchiki]

As a member of the Tenth Division, it was Wynne’s duty to protect and serve. With a pure heart and a fire burning in her belly. Unfortunately the latter part was probably never going to happen, but what did the Soul Society truly expect from their shinigami? To truly serve with their hearts and souls naively? Or perhaps she was just being needlessly pessimistic. Either way demons from hell were currently attacking which was a no no, hence the reason she was heading for South Gate, since that was the gate that seemed to need the most help. Her role in this was simple, she was known for her enormous strength, it was all she had going for her really. Thus she was going to use it to the greatest effect. She was like a wrecking ball. All she needed was to be pointed in the right direction and she’d be useful. What a wonderful addition to the Tenth Division she was!

Putting some pep into her step, Wynne ignored the screams and cries as she continued to move towards her designated location. She had grown numb to them now. Was it because she had grown wiser, or because she grew colder? It was becoming harder to tell. Fighting for the Soul Society was more of a job for her now rather than how it was before. She used to care for it personally, but how could she now when there was no one she loved in it anymore? But she’d do what she always did and lose herself in the violence and conflict of battle. Emotions just weren’t for her and she didn’t like dealing with them, so she wouldn’t. Was it healthy? No. Would she stop? Nope.

After a few minutes of travel, Wynne arrived at her destination and it was just as dreadful as she assumed it would be. Sure her fellow Shinigami were currently holding the line, but she could also see demons currently munching on various limbs strewn about. Ones that no doubt came from her comrades. Leaping over the edge of the barricade and diving into the fray, Wynne unleashed a shockwave into the midst of the wave of demons. It was time for her ill gotten strength to finally have a use. While these monstrous creatures were tall, her height still reigned supreme for the most part at her overbearing 9’9” size. Gripping one of the hellions by the skull, Wynne crushed its head into a meaty pulp. Now it was time to lose herself.

Time soon passed by in a blur for her. Seconds, minutes, hours? Wynne knew not. She dealt blows to her enemies and they dealt blows to her. Unfortunately for them, they chose to deal them physically, which her body was made to handle. And as long as they kept up that avenue of attack, she could handle it for years to come. One annoying tidbit was the amount of them though. They were like ants. She was currently soaked in a copious amount of blood just due to the amount she had already killed, but on the bright side she gave her allies some much needed reprieve, at the cost of her energy. Although she didn’t need to expend much to deal with this sort of cannon fodder. Were they just trying to destroy the South Gate by sheer numbers?

Grabbing one of the hellions and throwing him several meters away from her, Wynne let out a sigh. Hellion blood tasted disgusting. Yet more and more kept flowing into her mouth and there wasn’t much she could do about it. Her hair was also soaked in it. Taking a moment to stare at the barricade behind her, she watched as her fellow shinigami supported her from behind with Kido. Not many were on the frontlines with her slaying the hellions which would be a problem in the future, but not many had a body quite like hers. Better to stay behind and live than to fight with her for a few moments and die foolishly. “This is why I’m here after all.” Gripping her sword tighter, Wynne continued swinging. There were more demons to kill after all.

[Tsuyoshi Minamoto]

"Hold them! Don't let them through! If the Captains can give it their all, then so can we!" Kanjiro shouted, brandishing his Zanpakuto aggressively at the Hellion he was in contest with. Steel clambered against claw and hide and his shouting was quickly lost amidst the myriad of other cries of battle and anguish in front of the Northern Gate. Thanks to Alastor's late arrival, the Hellions had missed Senshi's incredible display of talent, allowing them to quickly maneuver around the Captains that had shown up to combat Orobus and Alastor. With the Captains distracted and fighting their two powerful foes, the lower ranked Shinigami of various divisions fought desperately to defend their home and headquarters. Outnumbered, but not outmatched, the combination of Zanpakuto, both released and sealed, as well as mixed Kido was brought to bear against the hordes. Even still, the numbers advantage was with the Hellions and it showed.

It had started as a strong line of mixed divisions, particularly Third and Tenth, standing in awe of Orobus when he appeared. Alastor's presence was similarly awesome and terrible as he opened the figurative floodgates of Hellions onto Seireitei's doorstep. This was not merely a few Ryoka - this was a fight for their very way of life and an invasion the likes of which many of them had never seen before. Many of them did not know why the Akki had shown up here, but ultimately it didn't matter. The fact of the matter was that nearly one and a half million Demons we're barreling towards their doorstep and the only thing that stood between them and a gruesome, messy death would be the desperate zeal that came with defending one’s home.

When the Gates of Hell had originally appeared around the Seireitei, Third Squad's Captain had given them a brief rally and some instruction: "Ehhh? It sounds like Hell has brought themselves right to our doorstep! How thoughtful of them! They think we're weak! They think that their numbers can outclass us! They think that Shinigami will lay down and die before their hordes! Some Shinigami might cower in fear! Some might hole up inside their Squadhouse and wait for this to blow over! Me? I'm offended. I'm sickened, and you should be too. How dare they invite themselves on to our territory and make demands of us? But - we should thank them, eh? They've saved us a lot of trouble! Normally we have to go find them and hunt them down one by one! Look sharp, Shinigami of Third Squad! Your home is under attack and I expect you to defend it to your last breath! Stick together! Work with Tenth Squad and shove those flaming bastards back into the pit they crawled out of! We will take the Northern Gate! Not a single Hellion passes by us, do you understand?!"

The cry of battle echoed then as it echoed now, but fighting the Hellions up close was an entirely different matter. The Shinigami of Third Squad were a hardy bunch, but they weren't invincible. As the Hellions began to gain the upper hand, slowly whittling down the more organized Shinigami, it was clear that they wouldn't be able to hold here forever. Another Seated Officer had begun to sound for a retreat, and it didn't take long for the morale of the remaining squad members to shake and shatter afterwards, despite the efforts of some of their most brave and courageous.

"Fall back! We can't hold them here! Fall back, we'll defend from behind the Gate!"
"Are you out of your mind? We can't let them through! They'll-"
"They're already through, you moron! I'm not letting the greenhorns get slaughtered here! Fall back!"

Verbal jousts were quickly overshadowed by panicked shouting as Shinigami from Third Squad began to retreat from in front of the gates. Screams and shouts continued as the Hellions gave chase, tying up Shinigami in the pursuit and cleaving them across. As the Shinigami made it to the Northern Gate and the line was broken, the gate slowly opened. Before them stood the Third Squad Captain, Minamoto Tsuyoshi. He walked deliberately and with purpose, eyes locked on the Shinigami fleeing and their pursuers. Before one of the leading Shinigami could say anything, there was an indentation where Tsuyoshi had been standing and the sound of steel carving through flesh occurred in several spots at once from behind them.

"Ehhh? Retreating? From this trash?"
"C-Captain! There's too many! We-"

"And where will you run to, eh?" Tsuyoshi raised his voice, spiritual pressure simmering underneath his being. As Hellions approached, the Captain seemed to bounce from target to target, bloodied sword in hand as he carved several of them in twain, using his fists and his feet in equal measure to eliminate those who managed to evade his sword. "Where will you run to? Where will you go when they get in? Will you let them overrun your homes? Will you let them kill your families? Will you leave your squadmates to die?" Tsuyoshi's blade carved a thin, vertical line through the air, causing debris to ripple and distort as the barely visible shockwave tore up the terrain and carved a line in the demons directly in front of him, barely sparing the lives of some of the Shinigami that were being surrounded behind them.

"There is no retreat! There's nowhere to retreat to! We hold the line here or Seireitei falls, and I'll be strung up and burnt before the Sokyoku before I see a single Hellion cross this gate! Stand, Shinigami, and fight!" Tsuyoshi's voice carried with the gravity of his spiritual pressure and, one by one, Shinigami joined the fray at his side. With their Captain at their side, the remaining members of Third Squad worked to reform their line at the Northern Gate proper and began fighting their way back to their stranded, more experienced comrades.

"Filthy!" Tsuyoshi's blade sliced through the air with each word as he spat them, with venom. Already, his Shihakusho was covered in abnormally covered blood. "Fucking!" While he did not have the raw power to decimate the horde that the other Captains did, his presence, strength, and speed, would be more than enough to keep them at bay alongside the rest of his eyes, even restrained. "Hellions!" To make his point, he quickly drove his blade through the arm of an oncoming aggressor and then drove his fist partway into its torso, tossing its body to one side for it to disintegrate and return back to the pit it crawled out of. Another Captain has joined the fray, and this fight was long from over. Tsuyoshi's eyes lingered in the distance as he felt the aggressive expansion of Hell Reiatsu in the distance. A grin slowly grew along his face as his attention was drawn beyond the immediate vicinity - if things went particularly well, he would be able to leave the line and join the others. There were much bigger fish to fry, after all.

Tsuyoshi's Uchigatana is a 28in. slightly curved Japanese blade that he primarily wields one-handed. While there is nothing astonishingly impressive about the blade itself, the hilt and guard are fashioned much like a Zanpakuto might be. It sports an oval guard that is securely fastened between the hilt and the blade, and the hilt itself is slightly longer than normal, though Tsuyoshi almost exclusively handles it directly underneath the cross-guard. The hilt is wrapped in a series of interlacing black and white wraps and dangles approximately two inches from the end.

The scabbard for Tsuyoshi's Uchigatana is built specifically for the blade itself and is fashioned in a much older Japanese style than modern swords are. It is constructed to be clipped and worn at the waist, and the scabbard itself is fairly ornate with depictions of dragons and clouds along the front and the back. At the base of the scabbard, closest to the Uchigatana's cross-guard, is the clan insignia for the Minamoto clan, circa 1100 AD.

[Arcadus]

Gripping the 10 foot hellion by its ankle, Arcadus swung it with all his might, using the very ends of its limbs like a cat of nine tails, shockwaves blossoming outwards into groups of hellions. It was holding up better than the first one, but it was going to start falling apart again very soon. Might as well get the most of it now. Looking around for another suitable group of hellions, Arcadus saw another group rushing towards him, weapon's raised. 

Taking a wide stance, He began to grip the ground, through his very shoes, he was rooted as solid as any stone, as solid as any tree. Staring the twist in his ankles, his entire body was thrown into the motion, energy condensing down his statuesque form into the fist, where it severed and shattered the demon's body, sending its bones and horns flying like grapeshot into this charging group. The hard parts of the demon's body ripped through the horde like bullets through napkins. 

The soft bits of the demon had turned into mist, painting Arcadus's robes red-pink and his hair a pink lemonade color. Hearing a voice calling to him, he honed in on it, picking it out of the swarms of individuals. Albin, they mentioned not seeing him with Cami. Wait. Arcadus stood still, only moving to sway back against the demon's rushing in to swing on him. This person was with Cami, and Cami was one of those Vizard Creatures. 

Shouting out across the field as they moved away, "ALBIN, IF YOU'RE HERE, HOW IS CAMILA, IS SHE OK? DID THE TWO OF YOU SEPERATE?" He hoped Cami was alright, and as much as he didn't want to admit it or think about it, Arcadus figured he would have to accept that she was very likely dead if here hollow spirit was here in the form of a shinigami. But until he had proof that she wasn't, he wasn't going to give up hope on that. 

Another familiar presence showed up in the crowd, Luca, of all people, had shown up. What the hell was he doing here? "Luca! Are you alright friend?" He overheard that they were trying to get to someone specific, effectively trying to reach someone deep in enemy lines. "If you're heading in there, I hope you know what you're doing. I can give you a hand if you need, I'm not in too much trouble from any of these weakling!"

Arcadus cut in half another demon to keep his eyes on Luca, a wicked smile on his face. This is why he gathered strength, planned, plotted and plundered. To feel invincible against all numbers, all weapons of all beings. For now, he was in bliss, to feel untouchable, to be invincible, immutable. How good it is to be a god. Chuckling to himself, rolling into laughter, Arcadus let out a roar, a bellowing defiance of the forces that rushed towards him, carving through them with his sword and raw might. "HUURRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!"

'I bet that big jerk Arcadus is up to something!' - Does the self-proclaimed espada, hiding within the midst of her adversary, peer at him with a mix of curiosity and disdain. 'He has to be, just look at him-! Standing around, fiddling with those bizarre electronics and thingy-ma-bobs... yeah, just you wait - dummy - I'm going to catch you redhanded.' With determination, the tiny and perhaps accidentally concealed mod soul watches. Her tail flicks side by side, caught up in watching what it was that he was doing.

Arcadus may have perhaps noticed her already - in fact, this was the most likely; whilst the doll was attempting to conceal herself, she was doing an exceptionally poor job of it. Her lupine ears sticking out like a sore thumb, there would be a good chance he had noticed her looming around at some point, but an equally as good chance he had chosen to simply ignore her. If was aware of the goings-on of Las Noches at this point, he'd know that Ailene had taken a liking to this perculiar mod soul; as long as she was only watching, the doll was more trouble than she was worth dealing with.

In that selfsame regard had she managed to go unnoticed, or more appropriately termed - disregarded. As an attendant of the Tercera enters the space, do her ears perk up, she slinks behind a counter. "Well, it sounds like an excellent source of entertainment,-" Is the only thing the doll manages to capture upon her cripples senses. 'Dammit.' - she thinks to herself, 'I can't hear, I need to get closer-!'. As she does so, as Arcadus might be more occupied with the presence of Atlas, does she actually accomplish such a feat; she is able to get within a few-foot distance of Arcadus, by utilizing the various electronical instruments and furniture around the room as cover.

"-Gotei's cherished zanpakuto's would be a good opportunity." All of a sudden, just as those words might ring upon the ears of the mod soul - she had got close to the man, perhaps a bit too close. Shio feels the ground beneath her feet as though it had vanished, "Ah-!" the only, abrupt utterance she is able to emit before she grabs onto the closest object she could; unfortunately for her, this would be the leg-robe of the Tercera.

An expression of shock - exasperation, and mild frustration would rip open upon her expression as without warning she is thrust through a space of interdimensional travel; all the whilst attempting to maintain her silence, her wide-open gob the picture of panic. It takes a lot to cling to a man who was unaware he had a passenger, when moving at a speed she was barely able to comprehend - yet alone keep up with.

In this unexpected turn of events, Shio finds herself levitating in the sky above Rukongai, she is bewildered; shaken. Most of all though, she had a bone to pick with Arcadus. Without wasting a moment she raises her head to attempt to speak to the Tercera, her shock turning to comedic-timed anger, before all of a sudden, he shunts out of her sight. This leaves her suspended within the air, high above the burning Rukongai, without air-ground.

"ARCADUS-! YOU-... " Then, noticing the effects of gravity take hold of her, she begins to fall; "AAAAAHHHHHARCADUSYOUPRICKKHHHH" - her joint flabbergasted words screamed out for all of Seireitei to hear, as anyone with eyes would notice a small object descending from high in the air at a frightening speed. Attempting to gain some semblance of control, the mod soul turns her body around, utilizing acrobatics to twist her rotational balance in favor of a more direct landing. It gave the impression of a squirrel mid-jump.

Thanks to her plushie constitution, it was not the fall that Shio might have to worry about. No, it was in fact the hellscape that she was being plunged into; it did not take long for her eyes to go wide, and notice the fact that - everything was on fire. Massive in size, an army was marching upon whatever place she had found herself; this was the only thing she would be able to recognize, at least immediately, within her descent. "-Kigen!" Is the phrase commanded by the mod soul, as spiritual particles begin to coalesce around her right boot.

Now, she only required a place to land. Without much means to manipulate herself in mid-air, not to a greater degree than her acrobatic prowess, does Shio notice a group of individuals just below her. They appeared to be grouped together, they were 'those shinigami goons' - that she detested so much. In either case, they were being overwhelmed by a hoard of enemies, and the mod soul had little choice of where she was about to land. Bracing for collision, does she raise her boot up into the air and yell, seconds proceding impact.

"OUT. OF. MY. WAY-!" Upon the final of those four words, her reinforced boot slams into one of the creatures, it cripples the beast; pushes it down, and crumples its posture into a heap, where it slams into the ground - and fractures a crater of equal size to itself just below. Now standing on top of the beast, that had likely had every bone in its body fractured, does the plushie doll stand up to the heighest point of its body - upon its carved in and arched back, then examines the legions of monstrosities encroaching upon them.

Her boot was raised one step higher than the other, the group of shinigami was in shock; one of them stood out in particular, a bookish looking girl with a spear. Glancing over this lot of trepid, bewildered individuals, the mod soul sighed internally - all whilst giving them a stern glare; one that made her seem cold, but failed to convey the internal panic Shio felt. Indeed, internally at the least, she was sweating bullets.

'Ah. Great, just amazing.' - is she left thinking to herself, staring down the shinigami.

Technique Description and Effects: A Mod Soul's ability to reach out with its Reiatsu and take control of a body it inhabits is something truly unique. By simply surrounding itself with material, it can reach out, and make that substance its own body, take it in and use it as if it were part of itself, and for all intents and purposes, become its surroundings.

This technique works on the basic principle of the Mod Soul's ability to take over that which is within its surroundings. By having its Reiatsu extend from the body that it is physically inhabiting and branching tiny roots of it's own Reiatsu, the user implants them into the surroundings before taking them into their body, adding the material to the body they already inhabit, making it a part of them. In its most fundamental stages, this ability can simply be used to create a shell of material around the user from surrounding materials in very thin layers. In its most powerful of forms it can integrate entire landscapes and take control of them. While this extension allows them to sense changes in the controlled environment, they do not receive pain as a result of it. Additionally, control of the environment is effected by Skills such as Battle Focus, Strength of Will, and any other mental skill that would effect their ability to concentrate on manipulating it (Having multiples increases this further, allowing extraordinary control). In addition to control, both buffs and debuffs of a Reiatsu nature can be passed to the Mod Soul through the environment that they have extended into. This control of the environment does not extend to Reiatsu attacks such as Cero or Kido unless the attack manipulates physical material such as water or fire. In these cases it can be controlled so long as the user has Superior Reiatsu Strength to the attack's power. The environment manipulated maintains its properties, and aside from the Speed at which it moves (based on the Mod Soul's Reiatsu Strength) its features such as durability and malleability are unchanged.

At Class 8-6 the user can take in dust or spirit particles in the air and make it a part of themselves. In this most simple of forms, it is as if the air surrounding them is a part of them, allowing Mod Souls to sense anything passing through this air as if it were touching them. While this does not hurt, it is a useful sensory tool that can be used to notice incoming objects. The effective range of this ability is approximately three meters, extending to four meters at Class 7 and ten meters at Class 6. This process costs 100 reiatsu to initiate and lasts four posts before it needs refreshing.

At Class 5-4 the user can, in addition to sensing and branching their Reiatsu into their surroundings, fuse these dust or spirit particles to their skin in small layers, allowing them to actually use material they are in direct contact with. This enables them to add protective layers of material to their body in order to create a surface, much like a weapon. Areas of their body that have had this layer added to them can be considered like the edge of a sword or other weapon and can be used to attack and parry incoming slashes, though reiatsu-based attacks and the like will tend to weaken the bonds and cause the layers to peel away. At Class 5 this layer can be applied to any small patch of skin no more than ten square inches in area. At class four this increases to an entire limb. This process takes 150 reiatsu to initiate and lasts for five posts at Class 5 and seven posts at Class 4.

At Class 3, the user can extend their Reiatsu into their immediate surroundings for brief moments. Anything nonliving within five meters of their body can, for a brief moment, become as though it is a part of them. They will feel anything passing through it, and they will be able to manipulate the material within as if it were a part of their body. This lasts for roughly fifteen seconds, or about one post, and costs 175 Reiatsu to initiate every time

At Class 2 The user can spread their influence, making their surroundings part of them. This allows their soul to take root in their surroundings. With this active, they can freely manipulate their surroundings within five meters of their body indefinitely, as well as any material that COMES into this range. This ability costs 500 reiatsu to activate and lasts for eight posts.

At Class 1 The user can not only influence their surroundings, but completely fuse with it. Taking in ambient materials, a Mod Soul can modify whatever body they inhabit into a weapon using surrounding materials, transforming their body and taking on a much more intimidating form. For seven posts, this form can be maintained and utilized, though it cannot be refreshed for another three posts after that as the Mod Soul takes time to recover, blocking them from any Class level of use during this time.

How to Use Technique: This uses the basic principle of a Mod Soul's ability to control a body it is placed within. To use, a Mod Soul Simply needs spread their spirit energy outside of that body in the form of tiny roots.

Technique Drawbacks: Using this technique, the Mod Soul's surroundings becomes a part of them in every way, as such any poisons or negative ailment abilities can use the affected surroundings as a means of spreading their debuff to the Mod Soul itself. This technique's TTP cost depends on the level being mastered. 5 TTP at class 8, 10 at class 7, and so on. However, one's aptitude with the technique must be "Upgraded" when learning the next highest class, paying the new ttp cost in order to upgrade the Tech, making up for the cost as if you learned at a higher class. It also cannot be used to affect Seki Seki rock.

[Nakajima Kimiko]

The sun shone a blazing light between the trees of the Fading Forest. Its rays left an impression on the trees as they reached for the heavens, making them appear as idols of many angry arms, and the fog which surrounded them, usually simply of a gray color, now instead was bathed in the cruel radiance. At the very least, they all did not appear so lifeless. Then again, perhaps they never were lifeless, for the sounds that came from them have never been so loud. At the top of the wooden behemoths, the titanic leaves rattled, violently shaken by the powerful winds above as some of them threatened to fall and reduce anything beneath their point of impact to nothing. This rattling caused a ear-shattering cacophony throughout the woods, one that was never going to stop. It was difficult to imagine something that could be leader than this... and yet, as two figures passed by the trees, there were a few which surpassed it all.

Kimiko's screams filled the woods as she battled her newest partner in battle, the oh-so-called Taishokukane. Her blades, one of them being her beloved Shizukakane, sang a song of hatred as they hummed violently in the direction of the silver specter. She was clenching her teeth in frustration, letting out war cry after war cry as she moved from tree to tree to attack her sparring partner. The other, however, was unfazed, keeping himself firmly in control as his single sword kept the woman's at bay. It would seem that they had yet to actually release their abilities, for the ink-like energy that usually followed them both during their clashes was currently absent. Even so, they both displayed to each other an innate proficiency in swordsmanship, showcasing ample strength and speed beyond anything that could be called normal. Perhaps this amazing speed of theirs was what fueled the winds above. Such momentum, after all, could not be devoid of physical consequences.

This battle went for a minute or two, during which they exchanged multiple attacks. Their blades reached out for one another with amazing velocity, with many of their hits blazing by them to instead strike the nearby trees, marking them with various cuts. However, at a certain point, the battle would come to a pause as they reached out a small clearing between the trees, something to stand on to without being impeded by the wooden behemoths. By then, Taishokukane stopped and stood there with a blade sheathed, staring at his opponent with a deep frown as she stopped too not far away from his position. "Pathetic. You declare yourself the Third Seat of the Eleventh Division before each of our battles, and yet all you have shown to me is the strength of a fledgling," he said then with something akin to violent disappointment. "Is anger towards me the only thing that has developed in you since I have begun teaching you?"

"Oh, shut the hell up!" The Shinigami would return spitefully as she stood there, panting lightly. Her eyes were wide open and her grip around her sword were tight. So tight, in fact, that they seemed on the verge of bleeding. "How can I not be angry at you?!" She remained quiet then after her outburst with a gaze locked onto her "trainer". No words were said then, as instead, there was only a burst of spiritual energy that came from Kimiko. From Taishokukane's complete lack of reaction towards the burst causing the dirt around her to be pressed down and the trunk of the trees to crack from the pressure, it was clear that this was a normal occurrence that he had gotten used to long ago. Eventually, she would respond to him proper. "You keep denigrating me... telling me I'm so weak while you fight like a dishonorable coward!"

"I am no coward!" He growled back loudly, enough so that his voice echoed throughout the forest for a moment. His emotional control had finally broken. Black ink would slightly surge from his person as he clenched his teeth, with his words passing through them with deep frustration. "Foolish woman! You shackle yourself with ridiculous concepts that will lead you to your demise! She will not hesitate to employ dishonorable acts against you!"

"You take that back!" There was another burst of spiritual energy, one that was much stronger than the other. The trees around them cracked once more, groaning loudly in protest. Meanwhile, the rays of orange that spilled into the fog would start taking a red-ish hue. After the fact, the Shinigami's tone became quieter, though she was definitely more angry than ever before. "You keep talking about her. It's all you talk about with me. Who the hell is she supposed to be, huh?! Why is she so important to you?!" 

There was no immediate response to that question. In fact, there was no response whatsoever, as before he could actually provide a sort of retort to her, a sound resonated throughout the forest. It was a sound unlike any other, one that was clear and distinct that completely overpowered the rattling of the leaves and the moaning of the cracking trees. Even Kimiko, who was starting to become so angry at the spirit, froze as she heard it resonate throughout the Inner World. "That's..." she found herself muttering as the red that stained the fog started to disappear, giving place to a confused white that completely surrounded her and her partner. She knew that sound. In fact, she had heard it before. It was... the alarm.

The Soul Society is under attack.

And this is how Kimiko came to learn of the recent events that had unfolded. During her training with Taishokukane at the Coliseum of the Eleventh Division, an outside group suddenly appeared within Rukongai and started slaughtering every single one of its denizens. The source of this outside force? Hell itself. Somehow, in one way or another, the sinners had breached the world between worlds and spilled into the Soul Society in numbers that could only be attributed to an invading force. It was said that there were more than a few millions of these beasts rampaging throughout Rukongai, killing and consuming every Soul in their wake. Approximate numbers were unavailable, though from the way the many officers that currently ran all throughout Seireitei's streets preparing themselves from the incoming assault, it was safe to say that the these numbers were so large that they ultimately did not quite matter at the end of it all.

Although the Shinigami had been, suffice to say, not quite in the mood to deal with such an invasion due to her time with Taishokukane, she couldn't help but feel slightly relieved by the news. She needed to let out all of the steam that she had collected from that emotional conflict with her Zanpakuto spirit, and though it pained her to realize the failure of saving all of the Souls that were killed by the demons, she was not going to deny that fighting massive hordes of these monsters was going to be somewhat of a cathartic experience in the moment. At the very least, it will not be like the last time she has been in an invasion. Those monsters won't wear the faces of the people she has seen across the Rukongai: they will instead appear either as people she simply doesn't know, or disgusting beasts befitting of the name "Hellion". She will not regret killing them or be distracted by them... and she will also perhaps even enjoy the act. After all, sinners are sinners. There is no shame in killing someone deemed unfit to remain within the Soul Society.

In any case, as the Third Seat of the Eleventh Division, she found herself in a position in which she had to show leadership to some extent. She still did not consider herself to be a notable leader per say, though since she was becoming a rather-interesting officer in the eyes of the Gotei 13, she did not have much of a choice but to show initiative here. With this in mind, she decided to go with what she believed the most logical decision that could be made in response to the overwhelming number of Shinigami heading towards the southern Red Hollow Gate: split the numbers of the Eleventh between the western White Way Gate and the eastern Blue Stream Gate. Her comrades Siegfried, Charles and Gideon would lead the charge at the former, while she and Binita would go to the latter. Oh, and Dai would come with them too. Unfortunately for everyone involved, he obviously had to be assigned somewhere. Assigning him to the eastern gate would allow Kimiko to keep him in line. After all, amongst the people of the Eleventh... she was the one he was legitimately most afraid of.

By the time the three of them arrived at the top of their destination alongside quite a fair number of both seated and unseated officers, they would watch as a literal sea of Hollows remained on the other side. They were everywhere: in the streets, in the buildings, on the buildings... Some of them were even attempting to climb up the gate itself. The sight caused the brutish Dai to grunt. "That's it? That's what everyone was scared of?" He let out before his mouth would twist into a grin. "That's nothing! Us Shinigami will send them back to hell!" 

"Careful, Dai. I can, like, already hear you pissing your pants," the brash Binita would immediately respond, which caused the thug-like man to comically growl in her direction. Regardless, she did not pay him attention, instead turning her head towards Kimiko. "So, Kimiko, what should we do now?" 

Kimiko did not respond at first. Instead, she merely approached the outskirts of the gates and watched... until, then, her spiritual energy started to rise. After a point, however, words would finally be delivered over her shoulder. "Kill as many of those things as you can... It you can't do that, then stick with a friend who can help you out," she would say with a quiet tone. Her hands, in the meanwhile, would slowly go down towards the scabbards of her swords as the spiritual pressure around her continued to rise. It was enough to cause both Binita and Dai to take a step back, especially so once they realized the emotion she was currently sporting on her face. For the first time in a very long while, she was not looking at this with a grim or somber look. Instead, she was smiling with wide, bloodthirsty eyes. "Just don't get in my way."

After that, she was gone, having moved off the gate at top speeds that far surpassed her comrades' as she employed the use of Shunpo. As she then reappeared onto the summit of the building nearest to the gate, the one which held the safest point to land on without breaking her legs, she would then jump down onto many points of the building as she rushed towards the rooftops. The Hellions, beasts they were, would instinctively look up towards her incoming figure and the black and white ink-like energies that started surrounding her being. "QUIETEN, SHIZUKAKANE! CLEANSE, TAISHOKUKANE!" She would declare in the air as she released the both of her Zanpakuto from their sealed state, letting their brandished selves toll as she descended towards the rooftops and cut off the heads of at least a dozen of the weaker beasts before they even had the chance to let out a snarl. Once she had finally landed on the roof, she swiped the hellish blood off of her blades, returned them to their scabbards, then gave the demons an excited gaze as her spiritual energy boomed around her. "MY NAME IS NAKAJIMA KIMIKO, ZARAKI COMPANY, THIRD SEAT!!! AS I BREATHE, YOU WILL NOT PASS THIS GATE!!" 

The Hellions would stand there for a moment, shocked at the display of violent pride that just occurred. However, soon, they would let out snarls again and rush towards her position in an attempt to eliminate her. Kimiko, excited, would let out a war cry louder than theirs, and would rush onward. The battle of the Blue Stream Gate had begun.

Technique Description and Effects

A movement technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. As speed is the main point of the technique, the method is best characterized by how fast one can get from Point A to Point B in the least amount of steps. Training and skill are what determines how fast a user of Shunpo can move. Those of little skill in the technique or those who haven't used it for an extended amount of time would obviously be out of practice, causing those individuals to be considerably slower. This requires the use of more steps to move the same distance and become tired more easily in a shorter amount of time. A single step magnifies speed for that step by ten times. Shunpo uses fifty Reiatsu per step. This one is automatically learned in the academy. All Shinigami know this when created. This technique does not take up a technique slot.

How to use technique

Focus of Reishi around the feet area and launch off into a single blurring step. It is not unlike teleportation in appearance, but it is simply extremely fast movement. It is often used to gain an edge in a single moment of combat or to dodge incoming attacks.

[Tala Selao]

Tala raced through the streets of the Seireitei, making his way to the North Gate as quickly as he could. He'd heard the announcements and fighting just as it was breaking out but he was still having a hard time believing it. To think that someone would attack the Soul Society, much less the entities that resided in hell. And now they were making their way through the Rukongai districts. He had to get past the gates and make sure she was okay. He didn't care about the fact that he was running head first into a horde, he had to make sure she was safe. She was the only good thing he had left and he'd be damned if he lost her. He didn't even bother with paying attention to what Captain Tsuyoshi was saying or the fact that others from his Squad were beginning to leave as the Hellions got closer and closer. No at the moment, all that mattered was getting past the gate and into the districts proper. He only noticed that the horde immediately in front of the gate had thinned out a little and that that was his chance to slip out. He quickly rushed past his fellow Shinigami to try and slip past the demons, but unfortunately he was not particularly fast as he was immediately met by one demon trying to cut him off by swinging its claws at him. He brought up his arm before it reached him and shouted at the top of his lungs, "BAKUDO #8: SEKI."

The demon's claws raked against the orange shield that had popped up around Tala's wrist for a second before it quickly shattered to pieces, shocking and temporarily paralyzing the demon as Tala kneeled down next to it, placing a hand on it's unsettling body, and quickly began to chant an incantation before anything else had gotten close to him, "Man, shaped by Divine hands, revert to the form before limbs, clutch at your own throat and be afraid. Bakudo #1: Sai." The demon's hand quickly contorted and pulled itself behind its back. He leaves it there for someone else to finish off as he quickly moves to continue forward, invoking another incantation as a preparation for whatever may come after him next which he couldn't have done sooner as another demon appears before him, "Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini! Look upon yourself with horror and then seize your own throat! Bakudo #8: Seki." The demon's fist slammed into the shield but unfortunately it didn't seem to paralyze it, even with the incantation. This caused Tala's eyes to widen in surprise and stand there for a moment in shock. This would unfortunately cost him as the demon swung on him again, this time going for his ribs and landing its mark. Tala had the wind knocked out of him for a moment as the punch sent him stumbling to the side. That for sure had to have either fractured or broken one or more of his ribs but he'd have to get that assessed later as he readied his sword at a low angle with one hand and kept the other with the orange flickering shield up ready to parry while he still had those few seconds left.

Luckily he didn't have to wait long as the demon rushed him once again and tried to punch him again, this time with a hook it seemed. Tala barely managed to block the blow in time, using the shield to help push it back and off balance to leave it wide open as he brought his sword up to slash it across the chest diagonally, starting from the bottom of its torso and ending at the top of its shoulder. Not wasting time in letting it recover from the attack, he quickly steps forward and slams his elbow into its face, which wasn't very strong and didn't exactly have much effect. It did have the desired effect of causing the demon to step back as the strike still seemed to cause pain for the demon. This made room for Tala to then bring his sword back down on the demon, almost slashing it along the same diagonal line but Tala had adjusted his strike to catch it in the neck and collarbone area as he swung down on it.

This seemed to finish it off as its jugular exploded and sprayed the air with its weird blood. Tala quickly moved out of the way and stared down at it with a shocked look as it was quickly dragged back to where it came from. He had never faced a Hellion before and it was quite the traumatizing experience but also on top of the fact that he had 'killed' another being. He wasn't exactly sure if they were dead or not but he'd felt his blade drive into their skin and the blood was still there on it. He quickly whips it few times to throw said blood off it before he sheathes it and looks around, his breathing heavy now as he was also slightly shaky, looking around and watching as the horde pushed through. What the hell am I doing out here...I shouldn't be here, I'm going to get myself killed...I should go back to the gate and ho-

Before he could even finish his train of thought, a scream rang out through the air and drew his attention to a group of Rukongai residents cowering by a wall as a couple of demons drew near them. He didn't even hesitate for a second as he quickly took one step in their direction and used a Shunpo to arrive right behind one demon, driving his sword through it's chest and carving upwards with it, sending it back to Hell. The other demon screeched and turned on him just as he was withdrawing his blade from it's companion and leaps at him with it's claw with rather impressive speed. This speed caught Tala off-guard and it cost him as it's claws dug into his shoulder. he howls out in pain and quickly leaps back, holding the shoulder with one hand to stem the blood and putting his sword up with the other. He glanced over at the group of civilians and saw the fear in their eyes. This had all seemed so familiar to him and he'd finally figured out why. It reminded him of so long ago when he'd lost his parents to Hollows before the Shinigami could arrive. And now here he was, as a Shinigami, failing to defend and help them. He grits his teeth and rolls his shoulder before he grips his sword with both hands and takes a stance.

The demon let's out another screech as it leaps at him again but it finds nothing this time as Tala had ducked under where he assumed it would strike again. He then twists on his heels and swings his sword along it's body, cutting open as he does. The cursed creature let out one final shriek before it too was also dragged back down to hell. He stands there for a moment, breathing quite heavily and his body starting to ache now. This was going to be a very long battle but as he watch the group rush over to him, he knew that as long as they were still out here he would fight to the very bitter end. He scans the group for injuries and once he was done making sure they were all safe he nodded and spoke with a soft but firm voice, "I want you all to stay ahead me and run as fast as you can. Don't stop until we reach the gates and don't worry about anything getting in our way understood?" After receiving a nod from everyone, he let out a sigh before he tore the sleeves off his kosode, revealing the tattoos along his arm along with the nasty wound he'd received, and proceeds to wrap up said wound with the torn sleeve. After stemming the bleeding with the clothe, he turns to the group and nods, "Alright, let's go." The group took off ahead of him as fast as they could and Tala followed closely behind them, keeping his Zanpakuto drawn and ready to fight if anything tried to attack them.

They had made it nearly all the way to the gate when one of the group, a small child, tripped and fell hard on to the ground. The child began to cry and their mother quickly ran back to pick them up, not noticing the demon that was heading straight for them. Tala shouted out with a desperate cry and pushed himself to move forward as quickly as he could, thrusting out with his sword to block the demon, just barely making it in time. The mother let's out a scream and Tala shouts at her to leave just as he gets pummeled in the side by a meaty claw that sends him rolling across the ground. He cough and spits up some blood as he glances up to see the demon marching towards him. He also noticed the mother and her child making it to the gate and let's out a sigh of relief. At least I'd managed to save them, was the thought that went through his head as the demon picked him up by his hair, causing him to hiss and wince. His body felt weak but then an image flashed in his head, one of his wife smiling. He felt a warmth envelop his body and he swore he could hear a whisper in his ear as he felt a slight bit of strength make it's way to his hand that he used to slice the demon across the face with. The demon howls in pain and drops him, which Tala used to roll behind it and take off at a sprint towards the gate, confused as to where that sudden burst of strength had come from.

He'd have to figure that out later as he makes it back to the gate, collapsing into the shoulders of some of his comrades, who begin shouting for some healers. He shakes his head though and pushes the healers away as he attempts to stand up straight and speak as loudly as he could manage at the moment, "I doubt that group that I just escorted here was the only one caught up in all this and they'll all be just as likely as defenseless. We have a duty to them and they're waiting and counting on us to come save them. We promised them safety and security whenever we sent them here from the Human World and now we have to make good on it. I want a team of three to accompany me but I will go back out there with or without backup." He drains the water out of the cup that was handed from him and then stands up and rips the other sleeve off his arm before he turns and slowly begins making his way back out the gate.

The countless screams are all that Connor could hear, his freshly acquired army choking out any and all other sounds for miles. Demons were crushed under foot by his horde, adding more and more to their collective by the second. The sinners that stood against them tried valiantly to strike down the giants he had produced, but they were simply no match for his Bankai. The ones who were capable of using their chains to attack were surrounded by several dozen of his zombies and ripped to bloody pieces. It was a gruesome sight, watching the mess of flesh pull itself back into something that resembled a living being, instead of the red smears that they were being turned into.

Connor was not idly sitting by and watching, however. He dove towards the ranks of invaders flooding out of those gate-like portals. He swung his blade from the left to the right, launching a horizontal poisoned wave through the crowd. This was so... easy. Was this supposed to be this easy? A swing of his blade, and hundreds of things die. He swung twice more, cutting through ever more foes. Had he killed a thousand in four blade strokes? Those that fell got back up, screaming in unadulterated agony as their bodies changed into something they were not. They took the forms of imps, devils, bat-like beasts, the forms were as endless as the horde.

His puppets ravaged their numbers, each killing at least one or two. The zombies were no stronger or faster than they were before being corrupted by his power. To the denizens of Hell, they might as well be invincible walls of death, but those walls could kill no faster than before. Connor stopped and stared at the carnage. Did he himself need to continue fighting? He waded through the viscus pool of liquid that was now pooling around his feet. Twenty feet in every direction it spread, trailing behind him, lingering like a curse upon the earth.

All too easy. Was this what killing was? He hated this. He had hoped that he could lose himself in the rush of battle, forgetting about the carnage taking place around him, if only briefly. Alas, he could not even get that, as the poison spread through the forces of Hell like a plague. Both hordes pressed on, two armies clashing against one another. It was the loudest thing he had ever heard. He could only watch the destruction now, having been left behind by his own forces. He lowered Souruejji, letting the hungry blade drag across the ground as he walked after them.

[Shawn Rabuburēdo]

This was a day Shawn would never forget, the day he managed to get out of Hell at the cost of a small favor for a Hason. This isn't something he would normally do, in fact he wouldn't have done it at all if circumstances were different. Firstly that he has been stuck in Hell for at least a couple of weeks, secondly that he was struggling to stay alive in Hell, and lastly that the Hason who helped him escaped seem to do it out of absolute boredom rather than for an actual evil goal. To put it bluntly he probably will get some entertainment from the fact he sent Shawn directly into the midst of an invasion, which takes us back to the present.



Shawn looks around confused as he puts the pieces of this jumbled puzzle together, he's definitely standing in the Soul Society now while being surrounded by a LOT of Hellions. His best guess is there must be an invasion going on right now and he just happened to be placed right in front of it between the South gate and the army of Hellions. I shouldn't be surprised, of course a Hellion helps me escape from Hell just to put me in the path of an invasion. Well, no use being upset about it now, better for it to be this than having died in Hell from refusing to sell my soul.



Shawn has to figure out something now and luckily a plan immediately springs to mind. Sprinting forward he would begin slowly running up diagonally until he reached the height of the gate top. Thankfully he decided to learn the advanced form of air walking, figuring it would come in useful for the future, obviously it did. Not to long later he would manage to reach the gate, yelling out to those defending the area he was from squad 11 and just escaped a dangerous situation. Any who looked at Shawn would immediately notice his hands are damaged badly, enough so that he probably couldn't wield a Zanpakuto right now. They would also see he was currently wearing the uniform of a Shinigami, so either he stole them or was telling the truth.



Stepping onto the gate Shawn all but collapses from all the stress he has dealt with recently. Letting out a sigh of relief he turns to see how bad the current situation is, Kido being flung at the massive army and explosions every now and again. Those explosion do seem different than normal but he was to focused at the big picture to realize where they came from. "Ughhh, I see I don't have time to rest." He speaks while lifting his right hand up, Hado #4: Byakurai, he would mentally cast this causing a beam of blue lightning to shoot from his raised fingertips. Thanks to his decent aim the Byakurai pierced and dropped four Hellions that were close enough together, of course those four spots get filled immediately by other demons.

NORTH GATE

Zatoshi raced towards the north gate, hand on his saya, dodging members of squad four as they dragged the wounded away from the front line. Ahead, he saw the clamor of battle. Ranks of shinigami forming a wall in the face of the hell that clawed at their doorstep. He could hear the clack of the alarm still sounding, and the voice being projected through out the seireitei, directing the squads towards defensive positions. He had far outran the implorations sounding through the academy for students to shelter in place.

Something larger was at stake here. There was a fight that they were actively losing. By chance, through the battle lines he spotted the white glimpse of a haori. "Taicho!" He shouted. He knew not the captain by name or by face but he knew he had to reach him. He pushed through the rear ranks, shouldering through to the midst of his comrades as he shouted to be heard above the din, clamor, and screaming.

"Taicho! We form ranks here, it blocks our people as much it does the hellspawn! They ravage our innocent and defenseless while we but weather the storm! We must push out, we must open an evacuation route for the people of the Rukongai!" The captain was in the thick of it. Zatoshi hardly knew if there was even a chance that he was heard. He was near it now. The stink, the death and the chaos. A hellion crashed into a man two ranks in front of him, ripping and clawing at him. Those behind were quick to run it through, but Zatoshi lunged to grab ahold of the man's collar lest he be trampled, fighting to pull him back.

His heart ran rapid, the thundering drums of war beat in his head. Fear lived within him, but a hot excitement was its twin.
