As Sheniamar stood waiting for the odd colored man to reply, She noticed that the alarm light on her device had started blinking. she took a quick look at it was surprised. The signature that Soul society had identified was popping up everywhere. But that wasn't possible. There was no single hollow that could be in 8 different places at once. Before she could speak to either the man or Kimiko several things began to happen at once.
Several human began rushing toward them. These humans were a slightly different color than normal humans, having a pale sickly yellow tinge that Sheniamar hadn't seen since her own days as a human. It was the color of death. It was quickly apparent that her, Kimiko, and the strange man, who's name they still had not gotten. It was also apparent that these humans were not in control of their own minds. There was no life in their eyes. Putting two and two together wasn't difficult and Sheniamar realized that this must be related in some way to the disappearances. Her curiosity would have her subdue these humans and collect samples, but it was clear that that wasn't going to happen.
Another thing that happened was that they were joined by a third Shingami. Sheniamar recognized him from a training class she had been in several days before: Aevus. He was silent as he joined them on the ground and it was then that Sheniamar noticed something strange. It seemed that each of them, Glow-stick included, were being targeted by by one of these 'altered' humans. There were other altered humans going after the rest of the crowd that hadn't quite dispersed. This was bad. She knew that the other humans were their first priority. Yet she could not see a way to help them. She had no kidou, and they were both faster and stronger than she was.
One thing that seemed to be in their favor was the mindlessness of these altered humans. Their reaction time was slower than normal, though that didn't seem to matter. Sheniamar quickly thought up a plan, though she was unsure if it would work. About this time their little group was joined by yet two others. One looked somewhat like a hollow, though it had human form. and the other was...something. He had a mask and a suit both with a red X on them. But she could not comtemplate that at the moment as one of the altered humans had reached her and began attacking.
She quickly unsheathed her sword and attempted to slice one of its legs off, side stepping his strike as she did so. There was not time to deal with each attacker on thier own, yet she couldn't help but wonder if defeating the hollow would bring these humans back to normal. After all, she did not know if they were corpses being controlled or if they were alive and being controlled. Looks could be deceiving.
"We need to deal with those that are attacking the other humans. We can come back and deal with those attacking us. Demobilize them the best you can quickly! We can't afford to let whatever caused this get away with whatever it is doing. It is also likely that the hollow that caused this is nearby, since we did not notice these humans before."
It was then that Sheniamar noticed the other hollow looking human attempting to snack on a severed arm. Though this disgusted Sheniamar, she honestly didn't see the harm in snacking on a body part that was no longer connected. Still she needed to say something. She did not kow what this creature was, but there was something familiar about it. Maybe she had heard something about a creature like this at the academy. She didn't have time to figure it out.
"Hey! You there! I doubt snacking in the middle of a battle is the best course of action. If you are our ally, help would be appreciated, If you are our enemy, then come right out and say it, but it seems that whatever is causing this wants you dead as well. It would probably wise to keep your attention on the battlefield."
Sheniamar then turned her focus to the altered humans that were attacking the other crowd. While she would rather not let that other person get away with eating the remains, she had more important things to focus on than wierd creatures eating dead humans, like protecting live ones. How many of them had children or parents. How many of them could she save from a fate that was similar to hers. She did not know, but she would try.
