The Meek Shall Inherit [PG-13, NDE, Adventure]

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

When she slashed into the hollow, she hit something hard. She knew it had to be a spine. Her sword wouldn't penetrate it but she saw Asmoskon's attack right behind hers. It aimed straight for the hollow's heart. If her slash didn't do it, that attack surely did. Though, to be honest, she didn't really know what that attack was. She had studied on the Quincy. But, honestly, she was a complete expert on them yet and didn't know all of their attacks by heart. She mainly focused on their arrows. She would definitely have to study more when she got back.

She was just glad to see that Asmoskon hadn't lost any of the nerve that she had seen in their battle together. When she landed, she looked towards him. She could tell that he was in a great deal of pain. But, when the hollow's body landed on the ground, it seemed like the pain was ebbing away from him. She could even tell that Zakuto was starting to feel less pain from the way he was acting. It was an interesting thing this hollow did to them. She definitely had to look into it soon.

Once Asmoskon felt better, he immediately went over to check out the hollow. She followed. She was really curious to see this hollow close up. She knew that most of the hollows were animals, but this one seemed like a combination of a few. It looked like a snake in body. But, it had arms, which was just weird to see on a snake. Asmoskon checked out the hollow's body. It seemed like he was checking to make sure it was dead. If it wasn't dead now, that hollow was pretty much unbeatable. 

It was then he looked at the slash her swing had made into the hollow's body. He commented that she gave a good swing. She thought it was good too. It was nice to have a fellow ally think she made a good swing. It was then Asmoskon walked over to Zakuto. She could see that Zakuto was still breathing steady but nothing else. She would go help, but her expertise is not in healing. She would've been no help whatsoever. Instead, she decided to study the hollow and see if she could find anything out of the ordinary.

She walked up and unsheathed her sword. She squatted next to the hollow, around the middle of the hollow where she slashed it. She gave it a once over just looking. From what she remembers about hollows, she couldn't see anything too different about this hollow. She used her sword to poke around the wound and even the wound looked normal. She walked back up to the head of the hollow. She opened its mouth. What she found in there were some pretty serious fangs. They didn't get bit, so there was no poison that way. But, maybe it carried some kind of poison in its reiatsu and when they were hit, that's how they got most damage.

While she was inspecting the body, Asmoskon came over. She noticed that he was able to take the belt off. She also noticed that the blood on his arm was gone. It must have something to do with the hollow's death. Before she could say anything, he tied his belt around the hollow's neck. Then, he dragged it. She was curious as to why he would drag it, then realized that he was dragging it over for Zakuto. She had heard that hollows eat each other to gain strength to become arrancar. Maybe eating this one hollow would help him out. 

After that, Asmoskon started walking around. Well, it was actually more like pacing. She had stopped to think as well. This obviously wasn't the hollow they were looking for. It was off. The smell was nothing like what was given to her. She had started to think that there had to be something to do with the smell to find this hollow. It was then when Asmoskon said that it had to be something to do with the sewers. She thought about it, and it was true that sewers would have the smell that they would be looking for. "You're right Asmoskon, it has to be the sewers."

Pain...it was all he could feel. He could barely see, his eyes were blinkin shut. The last thing he saw was the hollow falling. Then he slipped into unconscious. Awake, awake now, what was that dragging sound?... He opened his eyes. There they were, Hotaru and Asmoskon. "Did... we... win?..." Zakuto rasped. The dragging sound was something the Quincy had. A.... corpse?...... The corpse of the hollow! That's what it was!

Immediately he tried to get up. "RAAAAAAAAA!" he roared in pain, then fell back down. They were trying to give him the hollow. It wouldn't be much, but surely it would build his strength back up. Since he couldn't stand he reached out his paw. He stabbed his claws into the lifeless body. Then he tried pulling of over. Too weak. This time he used both. It just barely made it over. Zakuto hungrily started eating at the hollow.

New appearance: Erebus is a hybrid between an Ape and Cheetah. His mask is that of the face of a cheetah. The snout and all. There are black spots on the mask. Just like a cheetah. There is also golden fur. The fur covers the rest of his massive body. As it leads down to his cheetah tail of gets darker in color. The fur can change to any color, shade, or tint at his will.

Erebus has a tail. The fur of the tail is just as the fur of the rest of the body. Except it is tougher to prevent disconnection. At the end of the tail is a ball with spikes on it. This can change color as the for can. The tail ends at a length of six feet. It can retract though, to whatever length Erebus prefers.

He also has the body of ape. Once again there is special fur covering it. But connected to his body are of course arms. And on arms there are usually hands. This is where the Cheetah part shows up. Erebus has three inch claws, that can be retracted and released. These are also on his ape feet.

Adjuchas appearance: In Adjuchas Erebus hasn't made much changes. Only grown shorter. Also lost about 100 lbs. But there is one think. Erebus has acquired black ridges on his knuckles.

Vasto Lorde appearance: Erebus as excepted is a bit humanoid now. He still has his tail. Still has color changing fur except on his face. Plus he still has ridges on his knuckles and claws. Except now he has fangs like a cheetah's. His hollow hole is just below his chest. And right above his belly. For his humanoid form he has light colored skin. With literally silver hair.

Arrancar appearance: Now Erebus looks completely human. Quick thinking on the Quincies part ensured that the Hollow would likely recover before the next fight. As it set into devouring the corpse, it absorbed it's foods reiatsu, adapting it to it's own. It wouldn't necessarily cure all of the Hollow's wounds, but it'd help significantly in allowing it to fight next. Erebus wouldn't have access to a full range of motion, and the wounds still certainly hurt him, but at least he was capable of moving and fighting. Furthermore, the opportunity to rest slightly made Asmoskon's wounds feel better as well. However, the three didn't get to rest long enough to recharge any lost reiatsu.

Now that they had come to a consensus as to where the Hollow was located, they were capable of tracking it. The nearest sewer access point was only a block away, so it wasn't particularly difficult to enter the sewer. However, after doing so, that still left the action of searching through the sewers, which were sizable to say the least. Traversing them was going to be yucky, to say nothing of unsafe. The trio would have to make sure to cover all wounds, because any open wounds would get infected, almost certainly. However, once they were isolated in the sewer system, it would be fairly easy to pick up on the reiatsu trails that the Hollow left during it's passes throughout. Hopefully they wouldn't run into another foe before they found their primary target, another combat like the one they had just endured likely wouldn't end well.

Asmoskon knew that his conclusion was the most reasonable guess to the location of the hollow. After a few minutes of rest and relaxation for all of his party including himself Asmoskon began to walk out of the warehouse. He had made sure to give Erebus enough time to eat the entirety of the snake hollows body. He knew that once his ally had devoured the body of the killed hollow he would grow in strength and be more helpful and in far less pain. Now was the time for action however and he knew he needed to kill this hollow before any others fell to its hunger.

"Lets go the both of you." Asmoskon made is way to the closest manhole and made his way into the sewers jumping down into the darkness. Asmoskon knew that in the sewers it was far to dark and bleak it give them any chance against even low powered hollows. He couldn't make the sewers bright as daylight, but he could do a small deal to aid his allies. Activating the Reiatsu Orb technique in his right hand Asmoskon casts a candlelight type of vision in the sewers around him. He knew that by activating his technique his reiatsu would be even more easy to sense and that this hollow would either attack earlier or run away. "Everyone keep your guards up and be ready."

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

Hotaru completely agreed with Asmokon on this one. It was really the only logical conclusion that could be thought of. If something smells like crap, go to the place that smells like that. She really admired Asmoskon through all of this. He was able to take the lead easily and has a very good mind in battle. She would be happy to team up with him anytime. She looked over and saw that the hollow was eating noisily. Hopefully, that helped.

She heard Asmoskon give the call to head out. As he walked over to the manhole, she followed closely behind. Before she followed him down the manhole. She took a few deep breaths. She felt Rivu~aiasan's power flow through her and felt ready to go. She jumped down in the manhole and immediately covered her mouth with her hand. The smell was horrible. She saw that Asmoskon had already brought out a light. He said to be ready and he didn't have to tell her twice. She put her zanpaktou up and was ready for anything.

[Takashi Kuchiki]

The connecting gates of the spiritual world and the human world opened once more. Out of the bright white light a shadowed figure emerged. The clicking of his sandals was heard as he walked through. The door behind him closed fully with a soft 'thud' noise. Takashi reached into his side pocket and pulled out what appeared to be an outdated flip phone. Upon flipping it open, he read the details of his mission and any updated information possible. His eyes scanned the blank screen as he read the next. A moment later, he would flip the phone closed and then place it back into his side pocket. "The sewers is what they had stated". He spoke in a low tone as he looked out to find any manhole coverings that were laying about.

Soul society had grown worried of the team it had sent. As such, they sent Takashi to check it out. As he walked through the road he noticed what he was looking for. Ah yes, a manhole cover. That should be sufficient to trace this untraceable enemy. However, Takashi would remain wary of what was to come. It wasn't like him to simply rush into danger. However, his orders were absolute and it appeared his destination was underground. It was nice that shinigami were a bit desensitized to this world. If not, Takashi would have become hesitant to enter the cover. He noticed two others that were already on the scene. Walking up to them, he gave his pleasantries and introductions; though they already knew him.

Landing to the side of the sewer, he pulled out something that he had been given for this journey as well. The reports had come back indicating that this strange hollow was most likely underground. As such, Takashi shined his flashlight in the area below. He had made sure to close the cover as he descended, it was only a quick flip of his wrist to do so. Still though, this place was pretty creepy being here by himself. It wasn't as though it'd show on this man's face though, no way. Takashi was stone faced as ever as he shinned the light around. The man inspected the area with his blue diamond like eyes. He noted the black metallic thick rings with their white Kanji on them. It made him happy that he was adjusting to the Reiseigen; they made fights a whole lot more fun anyway.

In any case, the man shinned the light in front of him and began pacing; hoping to either lead or follow behind the others. The sound of his sandals tapping the ground caused echoing in the hollowed cave. He wondered if he'd run in to the other shinigami that were apparently sent on this mission. It was good of Soul Society to send him. Lately, they had been sending him solo on a great deal of missions. His advanced skill coupled with his Kuchiki name was really something that aided greatly in this. In any case, it was time for him to search for this strange creature by himself.

These restrains are worn upon the users calves and their forearms. They
seem rectangular in shape and are rather slim and black. They fit much
like if a person had a small box or rectangle around his or her wrists
and ankles. On each, there is a white imprint carved into them that
reads:

;Or "Soul Restraints". The ability of this item
is very unique indeed. These restraints will divide a person's
offensive Stats by a half (including Spiritual Pressure too). With this,
they will be much weaker and people will generally feel the same of
them. However, while wearing them in any PVP situation (at the start of
the battle*) they will have X amount of posts the restraints can be
released by simply saying the phrase "Kai(release)". The restraints will
fall off as Reaitsu is added to them in a specific flow or way (or if
releasing Shikai/Bankai. The effect of these limiters are it halves the
users: RS, SpPr, Speed, and Strength. While halved however, reiatsu
usage for Takashi is halved . In addition, If the limiter is used for 6
posts, when it is released Takashi's stamina and reiatsu is refilled"

The three trudged through the sewers until they came into a centralized area, which opened up slightly, and diverged into three more tunnels. The dark reiatsu that permeated the situation made one thing certain: their target was down one of these tunnels. Takashi, who had the highest energy sensory, could tell that there was more reiatsu down the middle one of the three, but nothing beyond that. Although the trio could go down each of the tunnels methodically, there was a slight problem: there might be other Hollows down here. And if there were, a fight would be disastrous.

The trio had taken enough damage in their last battle that another battle, especially before finding their original prey, would end horribly. If they survived, they likely wouldn't be in any position to fight another battle. If they didn't survive, that was another issue entirely. And, not to mention, even if they somehow won unscathed, the noise created from such a fight would warn their intended target of it's approaching doom, giving it a chance to flee them. Effectively, finding a Hollow that wasn't the one they wanted would create a no-win scenario that they couldn't afford.

Besides that, they had no clue regarding the combat capabilities of their foe, given that no one had been able to observe it directly thus far. Besides which, there was a pressing concern: would any of them even be able to see the monster? They had gotten significantly stronger since they first started hunting it, and they had originally been selected because of the fact that they were weak enough to be hypothetically able to sense it, and strong enough to actually fight it on even grounds (hopefully). This was looking more worrisome by the minute. However, presently, there was a simple choice. What tunnel would they take?

Regardless of which tunnel they took, they'd be in for a fair amount of walking in a dark, unpleasant sewage system. By their best guesses, each of the tunnels extended at least half a mile out, before terminating in a central collection area.

Asmoskon had been walking down the sewer tunnel that they had entered in from for the last three minutes. He knew that with Hotaru alongside him his chances of defeating this hollow were much more high and a sense of joy seemed to drench his heart. Asmoskon had never worked with a team mate truly. Every single opponent that Asmoskon had come across he had only his own talents at the disposal. Now he was working alongside one of the few people he dare call a friend. Not only did it make him feel safer to have Hotaru with him, but it seemed some if only a little bit of the weight he bared was lifted.

That feeing seemed to vanish at the very sound of movement. Asmoskon's attention focused completely as he heard footsteps traipsing through the boils of the sewer. The young Quincy could only see a few feet in front of his own body making it impossible to tell if it was the hollow he was searching for or something else. It took a few moments of moving forward for Asmoskon to see the face o a familiar Shinigami. The white hair and face that seem the opposite of his own was one that he had only met a short time earlier . . Takashi Kuchiki.

Asmoskon grinned as he walked up to Takashi "Well looks like the Soul Society doesn't plan on letting this one get away does it Hotaru." Asmoskon wasn't truly asking a question or an answer from Hotaru, but more stating the obvious. Now it seemed Asmoskon would have the aid of yet another former opponent that had proven before he was more the capable of defending himself. The chances of victory seemed to be leaning in his groups favor even more now. "Well Takashi how about we get this done quick and easy?"

Asmoskon had asked the question as he closed the distanced between himself and Takashi. Once within a few feet Asmoskon bowed hi head slightly showing his respect toward Takashi while immediately after extending his left hand to the Shinigami. Asmoskon extended his hand as a sign of trust and comradely. Along with the hand shake Asmoskon grinned happily toward Takashi displaying his joy at the Shinigami's sudden arrival.

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

Hotaru felt like she had been walking forever. Though, she felt better that she was here with Asmoskon. She was very relieved to know that he was feeling better. She could just tell by the way that he was acting now that he felt a lot better. She just hoped that he considered her a friend. She considered him a friend. It made her feel good to know that there was a friendly person on her back, that she trusted with her life.

She heard something right when Asmoskon did. She stopped for a moment and tried to stretch her senses to their limits to see if she could see or hear anything. She could barely see as it is. She had her guard up, just in case it happened to be their hollow enemy. She moved with Asmoskon, just to be on the safe side and to guard his back just in case. She thought she would've seen Zakuto by now but maybe he wasn't healed enough to continue. She thought oh well.

She walked with Asmoskon and saw a familiar figure with white hair, Takashi Kuchiki. She heard what Asmoskon said and knew he didn't need an answer. It seemed like he had met with the shinigami as well. She guessed Takashi got around a lot. It was nice to see another familiar face. She knew he was a strong warrior and would be a great help to this investigation.

She heard Asmoskon ask him how we get it done quick and she would like to know as well. She hasn't really been training her senses, more strength. She hoped that his senses were better than hers. Though, she thought it was interesting Soul Society sent another shinigami. They really did want this hollow taken care of. She watched while Asmoskon wanted to shake his hand. She walked up to stand next to Asmoskon. She also had her hand out for a shake for the same reasons she was sure Asmoskon had. She had a smile on her face. Though, if Takashi took her hand, she wanted to try to get him into a hug.

[Takashi Kuchiki]

Takashi blinked, emotionless as always as he looked towards the two who emerged. Inside, he was mentally feeling glad that he had run into two people whom he'd known well; he wouldn't admit nor show it though. His blue diamond like eyes, bored as ever, gazed upon Asmos and Hotaru that seemed to stand behind him. Asmos spoke and Takashi didn't really say much as he saw Hotaru approaching as well."Masurao Asmoskon, Wakashi Hotaru, I am pleased to once again see the both of you." he said as he bowed. "It has indeed been a great deal of time since I have seen either of you. Soul Society felt the need to send myself upon this mission. I would agree to complete it quick"

He noticed Hotaru coming up towards him and had her hand out in a shaking position. As to not be rude, he grasped her hand and shook it. However, as he did, it appeared as though she came in, spreading her arms and attempting to grasp him. He was serious, but he wasn't uptight; it was certainly unexpected though. However, he allowed it to happen. She hugged him and he patter her. "Hotaru, perhaps we can engage in pleasantries at a later time. As Asmoskon suggested, our mission is what must take priority.". He said to her after she was done hugging him. As he did, he turned around, looking at the three tunnels.

"Soul Society had briefed me on the current situation. It appears there is some strange hollow about. As such, we must keep alert at all times. A suggestion could have been to enter each one of these separately, increasing our likelihood of finding said hollow. However, without further intelligence, this would be futile. I sense reaitsu emitting from the center hall. As such, I will be moving through the center. If nothing else, we will be able to slay another hollow. If you two so desire, you may chose to go separately but I will be going through this opening; I do not mind if you follow".

With that, he turned around and began to walk towards the center tunnel. It was a long shot, but at least there would be something or someone with reaitsu there. This also could very well be a trap. However, their goal was to look for this hollow. As such, it should be their goal to eliminate it wherever it may be. Takashi lead the hunt, he didn't want to really lead, it was more that he was following his gut on this matter.

Asmoskon watched as Hotaru exchanged pleasantries with Takashi in a much friendlier and open way then he had done only a moment earlier. Listening to Takashi explain what the Soul Society had thought about the current situation Asmoskon filled away every word he could. He wasn't surprised to hear that he was correct in assuming that Soul Society was growing worried and wished that this hollow be dealt with swiftly. Asmoskon wanted the same thing and now that Takashi was in the group alongside himself and Hotaru it seemed that this hollow wouldn't survive; if the group could locate it.

Asmoskon was ready to speak and lead the group once again just as he had done in the past only to have Takashi speak in a way that Asmoskon couldn't help, but feel was laced with pride. It didn't matter who led the situation right now Asmoskon knew that and so he held his tongue. If Takashi wished to led the group for the moment then so be it. Asmoskon had no more claim to do so than Takashi in the first place. To a Shinigami however it may be that Asmoskon had no right to claim leadership in the first place. He knew Hotaru wouldn't ever feel that way, but Takashi he wasn't one hundred percent in the clear yet.

Takashi spoke about sensing reiatsu down the mid tunnel and that he was going in that direction. When he had spoken about splitting the three of them up to go down a tunnel each Asmoskon was ready to speak against him knowing it would be futile, but the Shinigami had said the same. This made Asmoskon feel a little more at ease with Takashi taking up the front. If nothing else he would be at an advantage with his arrows now that he wasn't in front. "Well then Takashi lead onward and we'll see if you've got the right hollow."

[Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao]

Hotaru went in for the hug while Asmoskon only got a handshake. She was surprised that Takashi even let her hug him. It was one little victory for her. Takashi said that they could exchange pleasantries later, but honestly a hug doesn't take that long. And, if anything happened, Asmoskon had their back. She didn't know what he was worried about. Soul Society did tell her to take care of this hollow as quickly as possible.

Obviously, Hotaru's quick isn't quick enough for Soul Society. But, having another strong ally to help them, she was sure that they would be able to beat this hollow into the ground. She looked between them. Two men she had fought against before, one a friend and the other, she didn't know how he felt about her, but she was starting to consider him a friend. She really hoped that this worked out and she would get to fight the both of them again soon after this was over.

She listened to what Takashi was saying about sensing the most concentration of reiatsu through the main tunnel. She knew that he was very perceptive, so he would be able to tell something like that. She was starting to look towards Asmoskon to see what he would say, but Takashi kept talking. He decided to say that he was going down the middle and Asmoskon agreed. She figured what the hell. "Alright, lead the way Takashi!"

And so the three of them chose to go into the middle of the tunnels, with Takashi in the front, leading the charge, and Asmoskon in the back, ready for combat, fingers on his bow string. As they proceeded through the tunnel, the reiatsu signature started to change. The Hollow in the warehouse's reiatsu had been terrifying, something designed to inspire fear and paranoia. This reiatsu was different. Subtler. The other Hollow was trying to scare it's prey, making them run, or die of fright. This one, this one was practically inviting them into it's nest.

As they got closer to the end of the tunnel, the tunnel itself started to change. In fact, at a certain threshold, the sewage stopped, making a solid line where the liquid simply would not flow past. The exposed metal of the tunnel past that point was clean, and the air fresh. The pleasant nature of it would have felt sinister, but something about the thick reiatsu that permeated the tunnel made it simply...normal. It was as if everything was normal. And then the tunnel terminated, and the three entered the Hollow's nest.

It was as if they had stepped into an old, rich, white guy's idealized living room from the 1940's. Paintings hung the walls, and the metal that was standard for this sewer system was covered with fine food, making the floor feel like it'd been directly taken from an actual house. In the center of a room, two chairs sat, facing each other, with a small table in between them. A chess game was halfway played, and a glass of some type of alcohol was poured, although not consumed yet. And their target was nowhere to be found.
