It all began with a sin;
A single sin, a single fault, a single failing.
It all began with a faith;
A belief, a truth, an understanding.
In the past, legends of beasts arise;
Tales of fangs, and claws, and feral might.
And now to the present we see these tales,
brought to truth, to revelation, to light.
Enter ye to the realm of beasts,
A land hidden and long wild.
A world that shows no pity to the weak,
Neither man, nor woman, nor child.
Enter ye to the past long lost,
Learn ye of the lives that live there;
Experience the sin, the faith, the tale
So that the truth may lay bare.
The Beast-Clansmen: A race of beings who have existed for countless years, with their first sightings lost to history. They have been present in many worlds, from Soul Society to the World of the Living, and have given rise to many stories and tales. Werewolves, vampires, kraken, harpies; monsters from seeming fiction and lore that are in fact truths, flesh and blood given a bestial semblance. Animalistic, feral, wild, and untamed; these are the beasts that the world has come to know. Many people know of these creatures, and though whether or not they believe varies from person to person, the impact of the Beast-Clansmen on many worlds cannot be refuted.
Until recent years, many of the spiritual worlds have known of the existence of the Beast-Clansmen, but have had little contact with them. These reclusive and feral humanoids have often shunned larger societies, hiding in the wilderness, living on the land much like any other animal would. But as societies expand, both in the World of the Living and in Soul Society, they have begun to be discovered. Humans have encountered strange creatures, such as the yeti of the cold mountains, or the wolf-men of legends; though many do not believe these sightings exist, as they are only visible to those who are attuned to the visible world, the fact is that the Beast-Clansmen can no longer hide. They can no longer run. And so, in both worlds, they have begun to step forward.
In Soul Society, these Beast-Clansmen are often accepted, albeit seen as lesser creatures due to their inferior intelligence and feral, inhuman forms. Many of them are taken in as a cheap labor force, while some of the more intelligent ones are hired on as guards or mercenaries. Lately, it's been said, a handful of them have even been accepted into the noble families, though it is dismissed as mere rumors among the common citizens of the Rukongai. Most still remain loyal to the wilds, hiding within the depths of the sprawling landscape that is the Soul Society wilderness, yet they step forward to trade and interact with Seireitei. A simple peace has risen between the humans and the non-humans, and life goes on as normal for all.
But in the World of the Living, life is not so easy. Soul Society is easy-going when it comes to adaptation, as they have seen their share of strangeness in their fight to maintain a balance among the worlds. In the World of the Living, though, humans are afraid, timid creatures, beings who lash out at anything strange, unusual, and different. Those Beast-Clansmen that came forward first were treated with hostility and hatred by the few who could see them, scarred with an image of anger and of violence. Their first attempt to assimilate into normal society was a failure, and they retreated back to the woods again. This was roughly two thousand years ago, and they have been reclusive since, unwilling to try again. Those few that did were often found by Shinigami, and were escorted to Soul Society, where they could live a more peaceful existence, though the main bulk of the Beast-Clansmen in the World of the Living was left untouched.
Now, however, a problem has arisen; with fewer and fewer natural areas available to them as human growth continues to skyrocket, the Beast-Clansmen have begun to feel cornered, trapped; discussions of a second foray into the human society have come up. Maybe they will be more understanding, some said; maybe they'd be more violent, and attempt to kill us all, others would say. Arguments were common, and as the world around them grew smaller, their decisions became more desperate. Some wanted to simply raze human communities that got too close in order to protect their lands from further encroachment, while others wanted to contact the Shinigami for a mass exodus to Soul Society. There were always arguments, fights, and even battles to the death among advocates for each side as the situation became worse throughout the years.
However, one pack has stepped forward: the Scylfing clan of leonine Beast-Clansmen have risen up, unified in a single decision, and it's one that has caused ripples among the other packs. Rather than retreat to Soul Society, where the same troubles from the World of the Living could eventually happen as the years went by, the Beast-Clansmen would return to their own home of origin, the Beast Realm. This was a powerful proclamation, as all Beast-Clansmen remember the Beast Realm in dreams, fragmented memories, but never outright, and none have ever found the way back to the land of their supposed origin. Yet Eadgils, the leader of the Scylfing clan, claims that he has found a way back into their former home, and has announced that he will be leading those who would be willing back to the world of the beasts.
But there is a catch. Those who wished to follow would have to submit to Eadgils' rule. They would be subjugated, absorbed into the Scylfing clan. They would be lesser, inferior beings, subjected to whatever their masters chose. While this is not unheard of among Beast-Clansmen, as a system of dominance from Alpha to Omega is common among almost all packs, the ambition of uniting and controlling so many packs of Beast-Clansmen has caused quite a stir. Many have rejected this decision, demanding knowledge of their ancestral home, and this has led to battle between those loyal to the Scylfing and those who are not. A civil war of sorts has broken out between the many packs, even leading to the breaking of some packs whose members have chosen to follow where their leaders would not, or vice-versa.
Word has spread to the many factions in the world, from the spiritually-aware human organizations to the Shinigami of Soul Society, and it is obvious to all that a new page of history is turning. War among the Beast-Clansmen, the possible discovery of a new world in the Beast Realm, the impact of these creatures on all of the worlds whether they migrate or not; all eyes turn towards these events to see what they may bring. But not all are content with watching; factions send their members, either to aid in the battle on one side or another, or simply to observe, study, and perhaps even learn more about the Beast Realm themselves. Some would claim this new world, for the possibility of untold wealth both physical and spiritual; what could be learned or cultivated from this new world? Anything is possible, and as a result, all share an interest in this new realm and how its existence may impact them.
Soul Society is determined to study the Beast Realm, though Central's ruling is determined to do so by also accommodating the migration of the Beast-Clansmen to their new home and protecting that right in exchange for the ability to perform non-invasive research on the land. Hueco Mundo is interested in this realm for the possibility of hundreds of thousands of feral souls to consume, as well as the possibility of recruiting allies, or even the discovery of anything that could give them an advantage over the other worlds. The human world is torn between multiple fronts; some wish to study this realm, and learn more about the beasts that have only recently become more prominent in their world, while others wish to colonize it for themselves as the growth of the human race continues. Many different people have a stake in this, and even among factions, individual opinions differ. Some disagree with their leaders, causing further unrest.
The question is, where do you stand? Where will you go? Will you encourage the odyssey of the Beast-Clansmen? Will you fight to keep them from their realm, that you may take it for yourself? Will you side with those who would desire freedom along with their return home, or would you side with those who are attempting to preserve order and stability by subjugating the packs that join them as they go into their new realm? A world of possibilities and discoveries lie before you, and you will be the one to decide where they go. And in doing so, you may discover the truth behind these feral creatures, their origins, their histories. The road lies open before you, and now, you will take the first step forward.
Welcome to The Lore of The Wild, an arc as untamed and wild as the creatures it involves. Are you ready to enter the land of the beasts, risk your own humanity, and learn the truth within?
The Lore of the Wild is a multi-part arc that will involve forays into the Beast Realm, learning more about the past of the Beast-Clansmen. As you progress, you may learn more about the original sin, about the Beast Realm and the origin of the Beast-Clansmen, and perhaps more even about yourself. But will you leave this world unchanged? Will you be the same after you've learned the truth? Nothing is guaranteed.
Those who are brave enough to step forward to explore this world may post following this announcement, and I will take the first three people to respond. Others who post following these three will be placed on a waiting list in the order that they respond, and participants will be shuffled out if they are unable to post within a reasonable limit, or decide to leave the thread at set points within a thread or between threads. If all goes well, additional participants may be invited into a thread even without losing prior participants, so keep an eye out for notifications on being pulled into the story!
Those who are interested in entering, note that this is a series of threads that will become steadily more difficult as you explore the Beast Realm. Each of these are DE, and may change your character steadily over time based on your actions and your time spent in this new world. It is recommended that characters for the first thread are at Class 4 or have at least their primary Release, as combat is a guarantee in a world where the strong rule and the weak die. Later threads may go up to having enemies as high as Class 0, so be aware as time passes. If a thread is posted up and the level range makes you uncomfortable, you are welcome to bow out if you are a current participant or, if you feel that you can get stronger by the next major thread, you may ask to be put at the end of the waiting list again in case you cycle around. This is purely up to you.
And now that I have said my part, I, Wolf, welcome you to the land of the beasts. May you find what you are looking for within... and more.
