It was a beautiful day in Karakura. The sun was shining, the birds were singing. On days like these, it was a crime to simply think about doing something that would disturb the tranquility. Peaceful, pleasant days like this were something to be treasured and enjoyed. Only a true monster would even consider doing anything that would disrupt something like this.
"Alright," Myza said on the other side of the veil separating the Land of the Living from the space between worlds. The Septima was standing among a few of her fellow Espada, a wide smile upon her face as she reiterated the rules of their little game one last time. "So, humans with no spiritual potential are worth half a point a piece. Spiritually aware humans without powers are worth one. Artificial souls are worth one and a half. Empowered humans are worth five, ten if you manage to capture them alive and bring them back for my experiments. Quincy are worth 15. And if you kill a Shinigami, you win! Oh, and each building toppled is also worth five points. And I mean substantial buildings, not huts or shacks. If it's one of the towers, that's worth ten."
With that, the Septima would gather reiatsu in her right hand, before slamming it straight into her chest. The energy would ripple out across her Hierro, dispersing harmlessly across her form. The air around her thrummed and vibrated before settling back down. The effects of her technique would quickly fade from easy sight, but anyone who deigned to take a moment to stare at her would be able to see small little pockets of resonance rising and receding just barely over her skin in shifting, swirling patterns. With a simple flick of her left hand, she would rip open a hole in the veil, revealing the marble-clad lobby of Uzaki Enterprises.
"Have fun, and may the best Arrancar win!" Myza said, smiling as she looked out upon the few people hustling through the lobby. She walked through the opening she created, giving very little time for anyone else to follow her as she entered the Land of the Living. Once she was through, she closed the Garganta behind her, and proceeded to quickly reach out with her sixth sense to get a feel of all those present in the building. Most were completely typical humans, but a handful of exceptions quickly stood out to the Septima. Some even seemed incredibly close.
However, she felt no need to actively seek them out. After all, with the power she had, she knew they would be coming to her shortly. And so, the female Espada would simply stand in the middle of the lobby, looking between the various mortals surrounding her and the austere surroundings of the building she was now inside. This already seemed like a promising bit of fun. Hopefully the lesser races present here wouldn't disappoint her.

Kazuna walked to the meeting point where he soon saw his fellow Espada. It sounded silly, but there was a degree of relief behind seeing his comrades. Perhaps it was the camaraderie that he experienced among them despite their general attitude. On the other hand, Kazuna realized he could learn a lot from the others. He looked at them each individually, trying to decide how they'd split up. He was debating, but in the middle of his pondering, he was taken out of his trance by Myza's little speech about the terms of competition that were being set up. Kazuna surprisingly found it a little funny.
Kazuna eyed her closely as the energy she created dispersed across her. Creating a Garganta soon after, Kazuna simply decided to tag alongside her, hopping into the Garganta she had created. As he calmly walked behind her, Kazuna began to think about their interactions. Sure, they had their differences and were not too fond of each other, but Kazuna didn't have much issue with that. There were few people he cared for, his nihilism always getting in the way of attachment. Maybe he secretly despised the lack of emotion, only being filled with sarcasm, but this was the way he was.
As the rift came into view, Kazuna, continuing to follow Myza, hopped out alongside her into the lobby of Uzaki Enterprises as he watched the Garganta swiftly close behind them. Despite the lack of impressive sensory skills, Kazuna could at least deduce that there were many people around. He himself couldn't sense any grand variations between the skill of these souls besides a few diamonds in the rough. He stood behind Myza and spoke softly, "I guess this may be fun after all. Been a while since I've been in such a colorful and vibrant realm....", his voice becoming rather monotone. "It's a vile insult to think that anyone would actually enjoy being stuck in this place.", as he calmed himself down. Kazuna had a bias against colors, vibrancy and just life in general. Happiness was something to be snuffed out in his eyes.
As he said this, he tried to gauge for reactions from anyone. Clearly, if anyone possessed a degree of spiritual potential then they could at least be noticed. Then again, a visit from Espada was an honor in Kazuna's mind. After all, it was not every day that they graced others with their presence. He could feel something gnaw at his mind. These people, the amount fed a feeling within Kazuna that he rarely felt. Trying to suppress it he kept his hand by his sides waiting for anything to occur. Hell, at this point he'd even enjoy a comment from Myza to break this perpetual silence, although there was something oddly soothing about it.

Why was there always more paperwork? The day had finally arrived. Yoko Kusanagi, the woman who read every single report written by the spiritual side of Uzaki Enterprises, was sick of paperwork. Back in her first haydays with Uzaki Enterprises she had been able to play it fast and loose, but that was the case no more. With an increase in size there had been an increase in paperwork. As she was now the head of a team that didn't exist a month ago there was a seemingly infinite number of documents to file. Budget requests. Personnel allocations. Research proposals. Media statements. Publicity opportunities. No matter how much she did, it was never done. And she didn't even have a second team member yet!
On what might otherwise have been a day off the Fullbringer and Senior Employee of Uzaki Enterprises found herself on her way into the office for more mundane work. Today was hopefully the day that she could put the finishing touches on the actual business plan for her future department. Sure, Kazura gave them all lots of leeway, but at the end of the day if Yoko had requested significant amount of resources then she needed to be able to prove they would likely offer a return on the investment. The logic of it was simple. Marketing was about a few things. Brand awareness, customer sentiment, and showing you had something worth buying. If she could keep Uzaki Enterprises in the news as good guys, then she improved the first two by miles. The last bit was a problem for whoever actually made the stuff around here.
Given that it was supposed to be her day off, Yoko was dressed fairly casually. Well, it's not like she really cared what anyone thought about her outfits anyway, but she cared even less when it was her 6th work day in a row. It was one of her outfits that was rapidly becoming a standard choice on her days off. A black tank top and shorts, with a pair of thigh high leggings. Over her top was also a hoodie of the same color, or lack thereof. The monotony was broken up slightly by some red accents on the hoodie and a silver belt. It wasn’t exactly fashion Avant Garde or anything, but it complimented her slim frame well enough.
She parked her motorcycle and made her way into the building. Today she even bothered to stop at the front desk for a brief moment like a good girl that actually bothered to sign in. As if she wasn’t already in a bad mood simply from being at the office on that day, she then heard a noise behind her and realize that a fucking hole in spacetime had opened up in the middle of the lobby. What. The. Fuck!? Two people, if you could call them that, had walked out of it. Yoko recognized them for what they were. Mask fragments. Holes. Came from another dimension. Arrancar. These were one of the things she had been warned not to fight by Amaya all those years ago.
It took a lot of effort, but Yoko managed to avoid turning and immediately throwing a punch. Instead she calmly reached over the front desk and punched a few keys on the phone. Speakerphone. Feature. 856488. A warm chime beeped over speakers throughout the building and played a message she had setup years ago in the event she needed to evacuate the building in a hurry. ”Please pardon the interruption. Everyone, please evacuate in a calm, orderly fashion and assemble at your assigned rally point. I repeat, everyone, please evacuate in a calm orderly fashion and assemble at your designated rally points.” The employees here were trained for four types of emergency responses: fire, tornado, earthquake, and “get the fuck out.”
In the case of “get the fuck out” it was made clear to employees who had been through onboarding at Uzaki Enterprises that it was something dangerous going on of a non-natural means. Typically this code was reserved for something like bomb threats or active shooters. Though no one could see the threat, the normal human employees began to evacuate. All Yoko hoped is that one of the spiritually aware beings in the building would hear that announcement and do what they normally did: go pick a fight. In the meantime, it was just her against the both of them. Given she had the home field advantage she did what came naturally and tried to stall for time until backup arrived.
The Fullbringer turned towards the enemies and acknowledged their presence by staring directly at them. In an attempt to draw their focus to her, she spoke to them in hopes it would make them think she was a nice, juicy morsel. ”Well well well. I see some otherworldly monsters have decided to grace us with their presence. You stand before Yoko Kusanagi, leader of Uzaki Enterprises Emergency Response Team. To what do we owe this unpleasant visit?” She looked the two over a bit more carefully, and though she couldn’t sense reiatsu she had a bad feeling about them. One of them had a large black number seven on their face, and her brain drudged up a word that meant she was in for a rough time.

Vesta had been trying to catch up on her schoolwork but sadly, she had been called into work more often than she thought she would. Her father was still a little concerned about how much work she was doing, since she was still in school, but she seemed to still her get her homework done, which was the main thing that he was concerned about. She was currently sitting at the kitchen island, on a bar stool, starting to slowly work on homework. She was starting to write a report for school when she felt her phone go off.
Checking it quickly, it seemed that she was needed to come into work today. It was weird, since she was supposed to be off for the day. Something must've come up and she was needed as possible backup. Its happened before, but usually when she was actually supposed to be there. This was a first. She quickly texted back, saying that she could come in, she just needed to get her things together first. After that message, she quickly started to bag up her things and notified her dad on what was going on.
He was slightly unhappy about the turn of events, but she was at least bringing her schoolwork with her so there might be a very slim chance that she would get to work on it there. From his insistence, she took some snacks as well, even though she could easily get some there, he felt better if she took snacks from home and she was perfectly okay with that, especially if it meant she could keep working.
She kissed and hugged him, saying that she should be there the normal amount of time and waved him goodbye as she ran out the door. She lightly jogged to her workplace, which thankfully wasn't that far away from her house. Even if it was, she just thought of it as good exercise, so she could at least try to keep her body in shape. Since it seemed like she was getting into more fights lately, she figured that every little bit could help her so she wouldn't be caught off guard. She was only slightly out of breath when she made it to her destination.
Arriving, she checked in with the front desk. The receptionist told her that she was going to go check on where she needed to be and she could take her normal desk in the waiting room for her work. Vesta smiled brightly at them and went into the waiting room, taking her normal area. This normal area includes the entire table and two seats, one for her and one for her bag. She sat so she could see who was coming and going. She made it a habit to do this, figuring since she was called into work, she should be on her A game.
Grabbing the paper that she was starting, she started writing out her opening paragraph, using her peripheral vision to watch the door. After her opening paragraph was done, she stretched and looked towards the door to see what was going on. It was then that she saw a woman, someone that she knew of but had never actually seen in the flesh before. Her first name was Yoko she thought, but couldn't remember her last name. Before the woman traveled very far, a black hole opened up in the middle of the lobby.
Vesta stood there wide eyed. What in the hell was that?! She had never seen anything like that before. She immediately started to clean up what she was doing while figures emerged from the hole. She stared at them and saw the holes and white mask. Well, fragments of masks. She had seen those masks on Hollows, but if they were fragmented, what in the hell made them? While staring there wide eyed, Yoko moved to make an announcement over the loudspeaker.
She went for the 'evacuation the entire building' announcement, which was definitely not a good sign. As people filed out, she wondered how bad these beings had to be to make her want to evacuate the entire building. The other people couldn't see them, so they had to be some kind of spiritual beings but what? She was getting ready to move when she heard Yoko's announcement to them. At the end, Vesta started to slowly walk out to stand by Yoko, leaving her bag in the waiting room, packed and ready to go.
Looking at the seven on the ones face, she just wondered why in the hell would someone in their right mind would actually get that tattooed on their face?! It really baffled her that it would do that. Standing at her side, she looked over the two people in front of her. People? Things? Whatever they were. "I am Vesta Zweig, Senior Employee of Uzaki Enterprises. What in the hell are you things? Never seen anything like the two of you before. Also, having a tattoo on your face is stupid."
