Trouble in Paradise [Disney Event, Medium, NDE]

Irina watched as two big threats were already attempted to be taken care of: trident headed for Triton, check, and giant tidal wave headed for the beach, check. That left Ursula for Irina to contend with. She wondered if it would be possible to negotiate with the Sea Witch. She recalled that in some lore, Ursula was King Triton's sister. The Disney movie hadn't touched on whether this was true for this universe, but since it hadn't been disproved she decided she might be able to work this angle. No matter how crazy she ever became, she didn't think she'd be able to hurt any of her brothers or any hypothetical nieces. So to try to subdue Ursula, rather than destroy her, she activated her Grandfather's hilt to become its icy sword form. Instead of using the sword at the present, she used a blast of snow that she hoped to disorient the Sea Witch and keep her from attacking. She hoped that Ursula would be looking elsewhere and wouldn't be able to dodge her blast.

She remembered a handout that she had been given on how to handle a bomb threat if it ever occurred at Uzaki Enterprises. She was to try to collect information calmly to determine as much as possible. "I'm sure you don't want to hurt anymore of your friends and family than you have to." she shouted towards the Queen, not sure if that was true but supposing that she would be more likely to comply if she felt like someone was on her side. "What are you trying to do? How can we end this peacefully?" She wasn't convinced that this was possible, but she wanted to give this a fair shot. She held her sword aloft to defend herself, which would surely be necessary. She was a little nervous that the other people would think that she was too sympathetic to the Sea Witch's cause, but hoped that her good cop/bad cop angle was obvious.

Everything moved fast. Shizuka ran forwards with Movement and snatched the trident out of the air to save Triton's unprotected back, Senshi sent 10 nukes at the tidal wave, and Irina released her Fullbring and tried to reason with the Sea Queen. Ursula just laughed at the woman and started to wave her arms again. She wasn't convinced by the Russian and sought to do them all harm. With a wave of her hand, the seaweed trident in Shizuka's hands became soft and then formed handcuffs that solidified harder than steel. It'd be tough to break out of those without some assistance from spiritual sources or one of the other ladies in the area. Irina's sword should be tough enough to cut through the handcuffs, especially since this world was devoid of the reiryoku found in their world.

But Irina would find her own troubles as Ursula turned on her. "Friends? Family? They're nothing to me, just watch." She held open her hands and green energy gathered around them. Up from the ground surrounding Irina and Ariel were seaweed soldiers carrying long spears of coral. Seven of these soldiers formed a circle around the pair and they started closing in the open space between them. Ariel huddled behind the Russian, unable to do much on her own without a weapon or training in such arts. The soldiers looked physically frail, but their looks could be deceiving. With a "peaceful" solution seeming to be impossible, what would Irina do to protect herself and Ariel?

Whatever the ladies decided to do, Ursula didn't look as fresh as she had when she arrived. The glowing energy surrounding her hands was wavering, not as solid as it had been earlier...

Shizuka seemed to get caught in magical handcuffs, and Irina considered how to help, but didn't change her position since she had her own problems. She may be agile enough to cut into the handcuffs without harming Shizuka, she supposed, but it would need to be a more deadly situation for Irina to risk cutting off someone's finger or hand. She thought the wave off to the ocean looked almost like the photographs she had seen of nuclear explosions, and hoped that she wasn't being exposed to too much radiation. There wasn't much she could do about that besides run, and she didn't think she would get away with that. It seemed to be best to stay and fight Ursula, the source of the problems. First though, she'd have to handle the approaching vegetative soldiers.

She turned behind her to blast the soldiers who had been out of her eyesight with a torrent of slush. She managed to shoot towards five of them, which would hopefully throw them back from her and the princess, before turning with her sword to face the other two soldiers left. Wanting to keep the princess safe from the action as much as she could, Irina lunged forward at a distance where she was sure she could retreat to protect Ariel if necessary. She jabbed towards the first soldier before retreating while holding her sword to see what it would do, or if it would disable it in any way. She decided to test her efficacy of her snow blasts and her slash against the seaweed soldiers before determining her approach the last one.

Shizuka should have been more careful when she grabbed the trident because it tied her up in handcuffs as soon as it got the opportunity. The Fullbringer looked around to see if anyone was free to help her, but everyone else was busy. So that just left her. With a huff and a sigh, Shizuka crossed one foot over the other and sat down quickly. She rested her hands on her lap and looked at the mess going on around her. Without much enthusiasm, she swayed her head from side to side and considered her possible options. Unfortunately, not many came to mind the longer she sat. She was an idiot and assumed she was safe too early.

"Right, well, maybe when someone gets the chance, I could get a little help?"

The plea was there, but her voice expressed more than simple irritation. She was very frustrated at herself and hated being stuck. Without her hands separated, she was practically useless. She wasn't going to be much help aside from kicking people and she couldn't use her Fullbring properly. So all she could do was sit there and wait. Well, that and try to avoid anyone who attacked her. She groaned silently at herself, taking note that this was the last time she was ever going to help anyone around here again. How hard is it to return the favor, right? What a complete and total waste of time. At least Triton was okay.

[Senshi Odayakama (Crimson.)]

Senshi had a hard time seeing what was going on below, but it seemed that she wasn’t going to be able to rest right yet. The sea witch was now rising more soldiers, still hell bent on harming the people around her. One human down below was handcuffed, the other was in distress and fighting against vegetation. The others were seemingly helpless, completely ordinary in the sense that they were fighting against supernatural entities. Taking a few more deep breaths, looking on to what was going on, there was only so much left that she could do. However, as a member of the Gotei 13, her mission was to defend humans. She had to continue on now. She had her priorities straight at the moment as she dared to use what remained of some of her precious Reiatsu in a Shunpo.

Utilizing her step technique, she’d attempt to appear before the odd human whom was daring to sit down during this endeavor. With a light jab, her powerful blade would attempt to cut down on that handcuff chain, snap it right in half. Of course the parts around her wrists were still here, but at least her movements were no longer impeded. She could move, she could fight, she could do something. However, she recognized this as the human that was incredibly hostile to Shinigami, so she didn’t say anything. She just turned and immediately dashed forward, attempting to slice her nigh ultimate sword down upon one of the seaweed spearman in a vertical slice before delivering a swift diagonal to another. Enough was enough. It was insane that this amount of chaos was being caused by one individual. “Are you all alright?” She looked tired and understandably so. If she were successful, she'd take the 300 reiatsu stolen total from those seaweed pikemen and add them to her own reserves. It would restore some of that lost reiatsu.

It was at this point that the Shinigami was noticing that the witch looked tired as well, it was a good thing. “You there! You've caused more than enough trouble! Concede!” She was still breathing deeply, trying to compose her heart. The amount of fatigue she was feeling wasn't a joke. This was going to get only more violent if it continued this path. In fact, if she continued on, there was but no choice than to kill this sea witch. She was endangering other humans and obviously was exploiting her power for less than noble purposes. She would have to end it quick, for her Shikai was already halfway through its form duration. Senshi at this point was really tired of chasing this woman around and just wanted to go home. Was that so much to ask for? All this trouble because she gave a lock of her hair. This in a way was all her fault, but how was she supposed to know that all of this ridiculous shit was going to happen?!

Irina responded to the seaweed men quickly, with rapid violence. Snow blasts lifted them off their feet and froze them and as they hit the ground they shattered into frozen sea-pieces. She moved to stab the next one, but to little avail as the creature looked completely unharmed by such a small area of effect as a small piercing attack. It continued to move forwards, only to be cut in half vertically as Senshi stepped in after having saved Shizuka from her sea-chains. The last one also was cut to pieces by the Shinigami, though her Shikai's method of energy draining would again have no impact on her energy reserves. There was no reiatsu to drain from these seaweed soldiers, having been made of different magicks than they were used to on their Worlds.

Two red shards formed out of twisting in the air, moving towards Irina and Senshi. They were again inert for now, but would be good to hold onto. Ursula, visibly tired, was frustrated by her soldiers being cut down so easily. She turned her chariot towards the sea and began to drive towards it. What would happen if she were to reach the water wasn't known, but it couldn't be good, right? There were obstacles in her way, such as Triton and the four ladies on the beach, but she wasn't about to give up. She screamed as she directed her floating eels to drag her towards the water. "It's just not fair! You all stole my life from me. Why should I do any less than take your lives from you too? Especially you, Triton! You betrayer, you traitor, you... you... you fool!"

Less intrigued with the shard than the previous time, Irina reached out to grab it and put it in her backpack. She would examine both shards more closely later. Shizuka was now free and the team seemed to be only facing one threat: Ursula. She was currently running away from them, but Irina didn’t want her to come back and hurt the people who were on the land or the merpeople in the water once she recovered from her misadventure. She hoped to restrain Ursula and hand her over to Triton to put her inside of whatever merjail he had available.

She thought of the ways that she could attack Ursula. She didn’t want to get close enough to strike her with her sword, if she could help it. Could she put up a barrier between Ursula and the ocean? She didn’t really know a way of making a wall. Ursula was floating above the sand, so using Soul Command to make a quicksand-like effect wouldn’t do anything to stop her. If someone else grounded Ursula, she might be able to use this method, but the others didn’t know that. So, she figured the best way to stop the Sea Queen would be to stop the eels from propelling her.

Irina used Bringer Light to position herself in front of the Sea Queen, and used her sword to try and snip the eels off of their rope which they used to pull the chariot. Rather than ducking under the chariot, she took a Bringer Light step back towards the ocean to avoid getting run over by the chariot’s momentum but still remaining in Ursula’s path to keep her from advancing. She hoped that she wouldn’t get knocked into the ocean. She hated getting wet. Although, the hot air was starting to make her feel sticky and disgusting.

[Shizuka Sanamizu ✮]

It all seemed like it was moving in slow-motion. One second, Shizuka was sitting there, on the sand, with practically no one to free her since everyone else was too occupied with their own problems. But just when she had imagined herself remaining side-lined while the rest of them finished the fight on their own, a girl stepped out onto the soft, small mineral grains in front of her. They exchanged a look, perhaps one that was seemingly suspicious, and it felt like it lasted for a life time. The girl drew her sword closer to the chains, forcing Shizuka to flinch since she was on edge, but the Fullbringer refused to close her eyes. After a relatively quiet "snap!" was heard, the chains were broken.

For what seemed like an eternity, Shizuka and the girl stared at each other. Yes, she had just saved the Fullbringer from being trapped by the seaweed handcuffs, but Shizuka knew. She knew what she was. Slowly, painfully, the blonde sat idly by and watched as her enemy ran away. She let her just run away. But as she ran, as her eyes left Shizuka's, the human's brows furrowed closer to each other and her eyes squinted, revealing a distrustful and horrendously disgusted look on her face. It felt like it had taken lightyears for her to make this expression appear as this girl ran towards the rest of the fight. This expression was all-too obvious in what it said.

I know what you are.

And just like that, reality flashed back. Everything started moving at a normal pace, the world spun back into her mind, and Shizuka was ready to go. She stood up from her sandy spot and brushed herself off, appreciating her newly found freedom, but despising how she came about it. She would let this girl go only this one time, but next time she would be dead. Shizuka was going to be sure to kill her just as she promised to kill all of her kind. For now, though, she had more pressing matters to deal with. The sea witch was getting away and Irina was wasting her time trying to make up her mind while staying clever.

"You're making a mistake, Ursula." Shizuka arrived at the scene as Irina had the sea witch cornered. "You're dealing with people who never really like giving up. Maybe you should stand down."

The Fullbringer took the opportunity to move at her own speed since Ursula was already faced up against two pretty powerful people, and she appeared relatively quickly beside her on Air Ground. Crossing her arms, Shizuka actually prepared herself to draw upon her abilities at any moment if she needed to, but she didn't want to kill this sea woman. In her mind, reasoning with her was worth a shot. But if things went south, then she'd be ready. She wasn't going to let Ursula or her eels get away if it meant saving this place. That, and getting whatever shards were available and delivering them to Disney.

[Senshi Odayakama (Crimson.)]

Her Shikai was nearing it’s end, the form nearly as exhausted as she was, and that was saying something. When Shizuka was freed of her bindings, Odayakama Senshi looked to her, their gazes exchanging, and she could already see the hate in it. However, there was a misconception, at least in Senshi’s eyes. The Shinigami that she so despised were not a race, a kind that was to be extinguished. No, they were an organization. Yes, they were a terrible organization that had done many terrible things, but there were some things to consider, ones that Shizuka probably hadn’t thought of. They were all human once...and despite transcending death, they were still humans at heart, most of them. To list a possibility, when Shizuka dies, there was a possibility that she too would end up as a Shinigami someday. However, that was for another time. This cold hate she felt, she could understand, she could sympathize with her, but she could not condone such a thing.

Odayakama Senshi...Shizuka didn’t know her, that was the thing. She was basing things off of what she heard, but yet not what she likely experienced first hand. Had she not thought it odd that even when threatening to kill the Shinigami, she didn’t seem to harbor any negative feeling? There was so much to do, to think of, to consider, but that was enough. They parted their ways, and Odayakama Senshi looked on, looked on to the enemy that was Ursula the sea witch. She was a threat, a powerful one. “I won’t let you do as you please!” Aiming her right hand out, there was an attempt at binding Ursula with one of her more powerful binding spells. “Rikujokoro!”

Six pillars of golden light would attempt to prevent Ursula any more movement from her chariot, hopefully also keeping her arms locked in place to keep her from casting more of her foul magic. Senshi could visually see that the witch was tiring, and that was good. Though, she wondered what exactly was going on? First, there was a gargantuan being, seemingly a god before her and the other humans, and what was even more confusing was that the people all seemed to know him. Who were these people? What was she doing here exactly? She didn’t want to kill...a human if she could help it, if Ursula could even be considered that.

Odayakama Senshi didn’t have energy sensory, but when looking at Ursula, she imagined that her power must have originated from a Hollow origin, mostly because she did not know what the Little Mermaid was. She also didn’t consider that she was stuck in some sort of dream or reality marble. All she knew was that she ran into a bubble, she ended up on a Beach. Something about gathering crystals, and it was then that she pieced it together. So that was what the red crystal was? Was it her ticket back to reality? Reasoning was one thing, but this witch here, she was dangerous. She was a threat and she had full intention of killing everyone, she even said so. However, this battle was over. There was no chance for Ursula, not anymore.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to get some of her stamina back. Shonin Joka was a killer of it, usually to her. If there was something she was glad about, it was that Irina didn’t seem interested in killing her at the moment. Irina also, she was able to identify as a Fullbringer. So, that ultimately showed her that this was a human affair. Maybe Shizuka was right, that it wasn’t any of her damned business on what happened here, that is, if Ursula hadn’t taken a lock of her hair and used it to gain this power. Yes, she was technically at fault for this, but...she was correcting it. Damn, why was this world so confusing? None of the humans seemed to want to talk to her, and so she was on her own, she fought for herself. Gosh...this could have gone a lot better.

It all happened so fast, with the pillar of light signalling Irina's use of Bringer Light to get right up to the chariot and slash at the ropes holding the eels to the main cabin. Flotsam and Jetsam lurched forwards, freed from the chariot but now very angry and headed towards the fullbringer to try and wrap around her and squeeze the life out of her. Senshi responded to the threat by using her high level binding Kidou to try and trap Ursula. The Sea witch threw up a barrier of green energy, confident in her ability to defend against the rods of light coming straight at her.

All that could be heard in response was a resounding CRACK!

The energy field was shattered by the Rikujokoro, and Ursula was trapped by its powerful effects to paralyze... But she was powerful enough to resist just enough to let her head move around. She thrashed and screamed but soon gave up. "Just... end it! Free me from this cursed existence! Unloved, unwanted, hated, despised, THROWN AWAY! Leave me at peace and just end it!" She screamed for her destruction... But would her last wish be granted? That was up to the women on the beach. Triton and Ariel, dazed, just sat in silence watching this all unfold. What was their wish? They didn't say.

The Shinigami freed the other fullbringer, who reacted as if the other had killed her best friend. It was strange, and it didn't make sense, and Irina didn't have time to worry about that nonsense. She was right about one thing though: The group was persistent. The Shinigami restrained Ursula, but Ursula's eels, furious, hurled themselves toward Irina. She slashed at the twin eels with her sword, which would possibly kill them, but she was less concerned with peacefully restraining them than she was with the sea witch. She loved animals and preferred to protect them when possible, but not if they were threatening people. Or, apparently, mer-people. If the eels somehow managed to survive Irina's defensive move, she would try to freeze each with a blast of snow each. She didn't want to leave them running about and hurting people.

Ursula's bitter request startled her. The Sea Witch reminded her of a melodramatic teenager, but she wasn't wrong. Unloved? Unwanted? Hated? Despised and thrown away? Probably all true. Certainly, she was disturbed, and needed to be both protected, and restrained from harming anyone. "You guys need to work out some sort of prisoner rehabilitation, and some serious mental health counseling for this woman," the young woman said, not one to order around a king, but this, which seemed obvious to her, apparently was not to Triton and Ariel, who watched the scene in awe. Irina couldn't imagine being so frozen and helpless to help her own family. She couldn't wrap her head around what could have brought on their reaction. She nearly rolled her eyes.

As much as Shizuka hated to admit it, Irina was right. But Shizuka felt it, too. Ursula seemed more misunderstood than anything else and it was emotionally painful for the Fullbringer. She had a good heart at the end of the day and couldn't bring herself to think about ending such a troubled life. Not when it could potentially be fixed. Besides, it seemed like the sea witch had no intentions of harming Shizuka. In fact, she was basically ignored. Whatever, though. At least they'd be able to talk this out, maybe. It might be more beneficial for everyone. Shizuka knew that Ursula was essentially a demon in the old story, but maybe she could be changed.

"She obviously upset about something. Sometimes people act harshly out of anger. Instead of attacking her, maybe we could hear her out? I mean, I know that's totally weird and might be a bad idea, but you two can't come up with anything else, can you?"

The jab was obviously directed towards Triton and Ariel. She may not have said it with a mean tone of voice, but she said it in such a way that they would be forced to think. Something behind the scenes is going on here and it may have to do with nothing more than a misunderstood woman. Shizuka knows that pain more than just about anyone. She's felt it time and time again, but her confidence and willingness to move on has allowed her to overcome many negative things in her life. Ursula may just not be as mentally strong, and that's okay. What she needed, or seemed to need, was some help.

[Senshi Odayakama (Crimson.)]

The witch had been restrained and had asked for it to end. Senshi could sympathize, empathize even with her ideals and thoughts. It was for that exact reason that the Shinigami despite the enormous fatigue she had felt previously, she knew this battle was over. She pointed her blade outward, and with it utilized Shunpo to thrust straight for the witch's heart. She would die as she had been depicted by the disney films, impaled. With that blade thrust into her, Odayakama Senshi lowered her face to the ground with eyes of sympathy but yet also disdain. "It was your deception that ended you here, the theft of my own power to attempt this stunt. I will take that energy back now and with it, I'll do as you requested." The redheaded reaper's blade if successful should cleanly have pierced her back.

"Though your sorrow radiates off my blade. So...forgive me as you pass on." As her blade robbed the woman of her power, she would slash upward and to the left, aiming to slash through her heart and leave her as nothing but an empty corpse on the ground, robbed of whatever power remained of her. The witch would be dispatched, and despite the horror and or disgust of these other individuals, the endeavor had dragged on too long and they knowing the story better than her knew better that she had attempted malicious goals not once, but twice now. Her Shikai was reaching its limits, but despite this, she likely had taken back that power, that power that awakened Ursula's own locked capabilities.

However, she now had something else to worry about. Other than the two obvious fullbringers, it seemed that she could be put into a spot where all of the people in front of her would become her enemies, especially Shizuka who had a particular disdain for Shinigami to begin with. With her blade held, she slowly turned to look at all of them, her hands resting on her handle all the same. "You all are likely looking at me...with that look. Who am I to decide if I am the judge, the jury and executioner? She had stolen from me, and she had the intent of killing all of you. That is enough." She didn't feel like justifying herself more than that, if at all. They wouldn't understand where she was coming from and they didn't need to. However, she wasn't going to stand around and let anyone, anyone push her around anymore.

She was tired of such things. So very tired. She wasn't the strongest Shinigami, nor was she particularly well respected amongst her peers. It was for this reason that she needed some form of esteem left. She wasn't about to let these humans walk over her despite this. Odayakama Senshi was still a Shinigami, and if it wasn't for her, they'd all be enveloped in a massive tidal wave by now. Taking deeper breaths still, she was reaching her limit, she could feel it. While there weren't physical wounds that were debilitating her, the mere fact that she had exhausted so much energy on this whole trip was a crippling force. Her possible foes were all pristine. How dangerous.

The ground began to shake and the sky grew dark as black clouds rolled in from nowhere. Lightning began to flash all around, striking the beach and forming pillars of burnt sand as the powerful storm shook the heavens and earth. Ursula was dead, killed by the Shinigami. The conflict in this bubble had been resolved, not through reconciliation as Irina and Shizuka had desired and demanded, but by violence and bloodshed as Senshi took matters into her own hands. This bubble would form a red Rage Crystal instead of the white Harmony Crystal that could have been formed.

The women had earned 5 shards. Irina held a red and a white. Shizuka held a white. Senshi held two red and the red Rage Crystal that was taking shape in her hands as the blood finished dripping from her sword. The lightning continued to strike all around them, but it didn't strike close enough to them to even feel the heat. In fact, they couldn't really feel anything any more... No salt air, no breeze, no wet sand beneath their feet. The whole world was fading away, having been resolved and completed. Pretty soon, the three women were back in their world, at Myrtle Beach, with the bubble fading away into nothingness.

Immediately, there was a flash of red lightning as the Emissary from Hell arrived. He could sense the rage crystal and the rage shards that could be constructed into a second crystal. Ah... So this bubble was resolved through my ways... Come, Shinigami. Bring that crystal to me and I will grant you power enough to challenge the Demon. And you, Woman with the red shard. Combine it with the Shinigami's and I will grant you power as well. His hand was outstretched, waiting for the crystal and shards to be brought to him. Disney had not yet arrived, but he too would be seeking these crystals and shards. They could also simply be kept for personal gain, but tapping into them would be greatly decreased compared to the power that could be released by the Hell Emissary.

What to do?

[Shizuka Sanamizu ✮]

Of course. Of course that idiot had to go and kill Ursula. Shizuka's eyes grew wide when she watched the events happen, then was all but shocked when the weather changed into something more dark and uninviting. This was Senshi's fault. The Fullbringer was right to have reserves when it came to Shinigami. Those bloodthirsty monsters wanted nothing more than to kill everyone and everything in their path. This only reassured Shizuka that her aversion to them was well-warranted. She was also angry, but not as a rage-filled being. She was mostly disappointed. Ursula could have been saved.

"If you go with him, you're damning all of us. I'm not surprised, though. You barbaric neanderthals have no idea how to go about things peacefully. I don't know if that crystal can be saved, but congratulations. You ruined everything."

At this point, Shizuka clutched her white crystal close to her heart. She wasn't going to feel sorry for what she said. She wanted to help the sea witch because she could feel in her soul that the woman was misunderstood. She always thought that, even as a child reading these stories. Today was no exception, and Senshi destroyed the hope they had. This was an absolute disaster. And now, probably like a complete fool, she was going to go with that demon. Power was likely the reason, and there was no doubt in Shizuka's mind that Senshi would throw away any ounce of good in her heart for that strength. What a waste.

"Irina, don't give in. I don't know you very well, but you don't seem to want to hurt anyone more than you have to. Don't listen to that liar. We have to get these to Disney."
