The tower loomed above, an enormous structure that rose far into the sky. Though the structure couldn't compare to some of the tallest structures in Seireitei, it could certainly compete with the rest, making it a rather imposing edifice of stone. Caedir found himself staring at it in confusion, though; why did one make a single spire of stone? It was almost like a tree without branches, just a single trunk... and it leaned. Why did it lean? That in itself was curious, as humans were generally poor with their balance, stumbling and tripping over the smallest things. They preferred even walkways, solid ground as compared to the tilt of trees and hills, something that Caedir had always favored; the feline's balance was exceptional, and as a result, he felt more at home in the rolling hills and treetops, moving about with no restrictions.
Tangent thoughts aside, the feline found himself staring at the tower for reasons other than curiosity. There was something about the place, something strange that almost called to the feline as he stood, balancing in a squatting position; he wasn't sure what it was, but there was a sense of... something. Higher thought eluded Caedir, and the cheetah Beast-Clansman didn't dwell on it. Instead, he was more interested in this strange tower, and what about it drew him. It wasn't something that called to his senses, like scent or sound, but something that pulled at him inside. Strange as it was, it piqued Caedir's curiosity, and because of that, he wanted to look into it. He had never been very good at resisting his curious impulses, after all.
How had he gotten here in the first place though, one might ask. Caedir stood before the Leaning Tower of Pisa, a landmark within the World of the Living. He knew it as the “strange spire,” because the feline's thought processes simply described things, without a need for flourishing titles. Few Beast-Clan were aligned with Shinigami to gain access to the Senkaimon, let alone made it to the human world, and Caedir was no exception. He knew one or two Shinigami—and wondered how Okami was doing, for that matter; he hadn't spoken with the black-robed man in a while—but it wasn't enough to gain him access to any gateways. Beast-Clan were usually forbidden from entering the World of the Living because of the difficulties they could cause in spiritually-aware areas; seeing spirits was enough for most people without throwing in walking, talking, semi-humanoid animal spirits. To Caedir, it boiled down to not being seen in the “other world.” Fortunately, for a feline of his skills and grace, staying unseen was never hard, so he had taken the warning and restriction in stride as not applying to him.
Bored one day, Caedir had simply snuck into Seireitei. It was easy, given that the place had been rather chaotic of late. There was no one stopping him from wandering around the city, though he did draw a few odd looks from Shinigami, unaccustomed to seeing his kind among them. Still, most assumed that the cheetah was there because he had been invited or brought along, and Caedir had been left alone. Intrigued by all of the people, the Beast-Clansman had chosen one at random and begun following him, staying out of sight by climbing atop the low rooftops and simply stalking the black-robed man as he made his way through the maze of the city.
After a while the man arrived at building, and through there was ushered through a pair of doors. The doors, however, were unusual; they floated in the air, appearing at a gesture from another black-robed individual, and allowing the one that Caedir was stalking to go through. Curious as to the nature of the floating doors, the feline had jumped down from his perch and simply dashed through it; according to Caedir's logic, it had to be safe, as the other man had used it. Therefore the Beast-Clansman had simply dashed through without a thought of consequences, barely noting the cry of outrage before the doors shut behind him, leaving Caedir to simply appear in the human world. Naturally, fascinated with a completely new world, Caedir had set off to explore, and after an afternoon of following people who couldn't see him became boring, eventually found himself at the strange tower that he had discovered.
And now, Caedir sat outside the tower, deciding whether or not to go in. He didn't understand the strange sensation that he felt within him; it was almost like feeling a... glowing sensation? That was the best way he could describe what he was seeing. It was like seeing something glow at a distance, but not with his eyes; that sight came from somewhere within him. Because he did not understand this feeling—though he recognized it somewhat; when standing very close to Okami, barely a few feet away, Caedir had felt it very faintly—Caedir was hesitant to rush in, taking the time to watch the tower before deciding whether or not he would enter.
Zahra found herself standing in front of a huge tower. She had never seen anything like it. It was so amazing to her, she just stared at it. Well, that and she was waiting for her mate, Qaletaqa, to catch up with her. She would probably comment on other things, but this tower was just holding her gaze. It was true that she had never really seen anything like it before, besides in Soul Society but that one was straight. She was amazed that they got it to lean like that. But she felt something else coming off of the tower.
Now, how did she get there? It's a fairly interesting story. Both of the beasts were out in a meadow close to their new home in her Rukongai District. They were out enjoying the nice fresh air and sunshine, lounging around in the grass, enjoying each other's company. It had been two months since she had found her mate. Things had changed for her, but not that much. She would still go and steal things that she saw that looked interesting, that part of her would never change. She did do it a little less often that she did before.
She would still try to go after the gold that her mate would wear, but it was for completely different reasons now. Usually when she would do that, it would go into something that left them fairly exhausted. But right now, they were just enjoying the sunshine. Then, they saw something strange happen over the shinigami's area. She noticed it and tried to sniff it out. But, she didn't really know what she was sniffing at or even for. She did stand up, watching to see what was happening. She knew that her mate had to be curious about this as much as she was.
So, she started to creep towards the shinigami area. Once they got back to their district, however, she noticed that it seemed like all hell was breaking loose in this place. She saw hot liquid sprawl about everywhere, flying objects coming down from the sky. She had no idea what was going on, but she knew with everything going on, there was no way that they could get any closer. So, she made a run for their home and they stayed in there until the entire thing blew over. And, after some time, it did. Once everything had died down, she peeked her head out.
It seemed that, at least her district, nothing was too out of place. She tapped Qaletaqa on the shoulder, letting him know she was ready to move and went out. She slowly made her way out of her district and closer to the big white thing, which she learned was a tower, that marked the heart of the shinigami section of this new place. The closer that they walked towards this white thing, the more she noticed that something was different about this place. She had only been to this area once before. Her mate had showed her the boundary between where they lived and the shinigami.
He wanted to make sure she knew what it looked like so she knew what she would be walking into. What she saw now was just pure chaos. What was the boundary for their area was now gone. The shinigami were just running around like crazy, she assumed trying to get things back into order. She hid behind a nearby bush, waiting for the perfect time to just sneak in and take a look around. Once she saw an opening, she used her speed to get in, with her mate following close behind. Once they got in there, she caught a scent, one she hadn't smelled before.
It wasn't a shinigami, but another animal. She could tell from the smell that there were hints of Qaletaqa and Xaldin in it, meaning that he was like them, but of course, the unique part of the scent that was unique to him was something she hadn't smelled before. She followed her nose, using her stealth to quickly follow this scent. Once she reached the end of it, she saw something that she had never seen before. It was like a door but not like a door. It was the oddest thing she had ever seen. But, her curiosity would always get the better of her.
"I go there. Love mate." She pointed to the door that wasn't a door, quickly hugged and nipped his face gently before running through this weird thing. She hoped that he would follow her, but she said that, just in case something happened to her. But, what happened was way more interesting. She got spit out in front of a big tower that leaned. Thankfully, she was able to land on her feet instead of her butt. She was now standing in front of this tower, feeling a strange pull for her to go into it. She then looked over and noticed someone, the one of their own she had smelled before. She pointed towards him. "You cat!" She walked over to him, keeping her distance as to not invade his space.
It had definitely been a different experience living in the Rukongai Distance with the female who he now he held the name Zahra. It had not been a easy thing to adjust to that much was certain for the beast. Being around others constantly caused him to lose control more often then every before and yet Zahra had always been able to hold him back long enough for everything to become clear again and him to regain control of his own body and instincts.
The female was someone that held a power over him that no other entity ever had in the past nor ever would in the future. It was something that only she could do to him that he nor she could even understand. Why she held the power to make him go against his own judgment and belief of being alone in order to protect others was a mystery. All Qaletaqa knew was that now that he had found what she referred to as a mate he wouldn't ever let her go.
The only thing that was a constant annoyance from Zahra was her constant attempts to steal his golden trinkets yet even that was something he found cute and attractive of her and would lead to certain events that he hadn't had happen in the second life until he had met her. Most of the time Qaletaqa would try to stay out of sight from the other souls and stay inside hoping to keep himself from killing anything especially Zahra.
Today though Zahra and himself had been out in the wilderness relaxing. It had been strange due to the fact that he hadn't lost control of himself for nearly an hour strait something that he would have never thought possible. Then they heard the ruckus of the Shinigami off in the distance and could tell that something was wrong or at least or of the ordinary. It was then that both Zahra and himself had made there way over to the land taken by the Shinigami.
Zahra was being especially silent and sneaky something that Qaletaqa couldn't do himself both due to his lack of skill in such an art and his size. Still though they had managed to get through with a minimum amount of Shinigami actually even noticing them. After awhile Zahra led them to a doorway that seemed far to strange to actually exist. It was then that Zahra spoke to him and told him that she was going to go through the doorway. Qaletaqa knew that it might be dangerous and as a sign of his faithfulness to her he licker her forehead which had become a custom of his to show her his affection.
Following Zahra through the doorway he found himself standing in the world of the living again in front of a strange large tower that was leaning to one side. Qaletaqa immediately thought that something was wrong and that the tower was falling yet realized quickly that it was at least stable to stay in the same position. It was then that he smelt the scent of another beast clan individual and turned to see what he knew was some type of large feline. Zahra walked over to the other beast and began to speak stating what she thought he was and Qaletaqa looked around carefully making sure that this wasn't a trap by the Shinigami. d10

People disappearing while strange reiatsu signatures were around tended to get a response from the Soul Society. After all, such signs tended to reveal the presence of things that required attention. Of course, recent events had also shown that the traditional approach used in such cases weren't always appropriate. The Septima Espada was known for maliciously abusing the weaker initial response that the Seireitei favored, and recent events in Hong Kong also demonstrated the problems present in sending the typical group of unseated officers to look into a matter. So the ruling body had decided to up the ante somewhat for looking into Pisa, and sent a certain Shinigami who was known for both his ability and his subtlety.
"Fuck, what did these shitheads do to fuck up their foundation so badly that they can't get a simple fucking tower to stand up straight?! I don't fucking understand what people see that's appealing in this tower of shit!"
... And his foul mouth. In fact, it could be said that Francis Grin, the Vice-Captain of Squad 11, was known almost entirely for his language. That, and his habit of trapping the Squad 11 barracks with a variety of humiliations in order to keep his squad-mates on their toes. Of course, unknown to virtually everyone else in the Soul Society, he was also part of the Shihoin noble family thanks to marriage. He had been sent with a few other members from Squad 11 to look into the tower. The plan was for him to be the vanguard and look through things first while the other officers handled interference on anyone else who might stick their nose into the situation.
Currently he was looking down at the Leaning Tower of Pisa from a Senkai Gate suspended in mid-air, both arms behind his back. He couldn't sense much with his capabilities, but then again, you couldn't always trust what you didn't see with your own eyes anyways. There were simply too many ways to give a false reading for reiatsu, so Grin would have avoided relying on it regardless, even if he were more capable at sensing it.
So the former Onmitsukido operative simply got an aerial view of his target first, looking at the Tower from multiple angles to calculate how he was going to enter. It was during this observation that the Shinigami saw and felt something that made his smile fall just a fraction. He looked down on the three other spiritual beings that were gazing up at the Tower from another Gate, blinking a few times. Then, without a word, the man dispelled the air-ground under his feat and landed neatly behind the three Beast-Clan creatures.
"What in the name of all that is fucking holy do you think you furfags are doing here in the Land of the Living?!" he would say after landing behind them, a wide smile on his face despite the icy tone in his voice. "Well?! Spit it right the fuck out, because I am not a patient fucking man!"

The crowd of people would in the streets around the Tower of Pisa would all seem to just wonder off abandoning the area. This was the work of the same reitsu signature that had been calling out for anyone to investigate. He didn't want any of the people outside the tower to get hurt, that would be...un-sportsman like. The doors to the tower would fly open and a man would walk out of the tower. He stood at about 5'10 and had short brown hair. He wore brown robes and carried a large staff in his left hand. He looked at them with his golden eyes and had a large smile on his face which would seem a little creepy.
"Welcome brave souls, how fears not death, to the tower. I have been waiting for you for some time now, and I must say that for Shinigami, our reaction time is getting sluggish tsk tsk." He looked to the beast men and woman studying the specimens intently. Not even he sees beast clansmen all that much so it would be a special treat to them take on the tower. "I see we have some adorable creatures entering as well good good they will liven the place up. Now I will warn you this one time, that once you enter the tower you cannot escape. If anyone has a problem with that I can understand." He said in a semi condescending tone.
He was trying to goad them into the tower if they were not sure that they would enter. He was counting on their pride to push them forward even though they are unsure what lies in the tower. He just needed to get them inside the tower. Once that happens then he can throw anything he wants at them at his leisure. "And if you can make it to the top of the tower, then maybe the missing people will be returned safely, but who knows." He laughed as he retreaded swiftly back into the tower the doors remaining open. Once the puppet was inside it vanished serving its purpose.
The temporary master of the tower looked down at the small beings that lay before it. he smiled to himself eager for the games to begain. How long will they be able to last in the tower? How many floors can they clear before exhaustion takes them? He was not worried if they made it to the top, not because he thought they couldn't make it, but because he just didn't have anything to fear. This was all a game to him, and who would be afraid of a little game?
Ugh, not many souls wandering about in the city of many people. Looking back from the prior experiences he could not rum rampant among the living for it may create utter chaos in the streets. Not only that his prey will flee for their very lives but most likely the Shinigami that he was told about would make an appearance as well. Such annoyances would only make the hunt ever more taxing on the King of Beast. Besides, there will be no thrill in the hunt should his prey not even resist, along with no honor in the fight if they were unarmed. Such a waste including the fact that he was very hungry.
The forty foot tyrant lizard continuously roamed the fancy city of Italians, where rumors began to spread of humans vanishing at a particular location, the Tower of Pisa. The idea of a potential meal was being taken away from him irritated the Beast, and struck a blow to his own pride. Not something that was going to be taken lightly or overlooked at all. Who ever was committing such a crime against the King would pay with their lives. And perhaps he would find a worthy challenge to stand up to his unparalleled strength and might.
Treading with every massive step had brought Adrastos closer to the rumored location. A massive structure that appeared to be leaning toward a single direction, in which its very foundation proved to be stable for such an impossible feat. Such a structure should have not been difficult to locate, however, his own diminished sense of location never ceased to throw him off track. From the harbor to the conflicting narrowed spaces of the alley was, the beast grew more and more furious, releasing a cry of displeasure and frustration. He was more than aggravated by the stupid tower as it continues to taunt him as it alludes him. Why was such a place so nerve racking difficult to find?
For a few lingering moments of searching his own sorry excuse of energy sensory was finally able to pick up a growing source of reiatsu. More like a pent up source of reiatsu that was slowly expanding its own territory to the surrounding areas. It was thanks to the large amount of growing energy that the beast was able to find a direction in which he should take. It was only a matter of time before he found it..... And he was right.
As car alarms and the unsuspecting flood of people scattered to the mysterious causes of the series of heavy vibrations, he suddenly came to a halt to sight the target. His poor eye sight was not the most effective means ensure that the object was his target, which was the reason he came closer to bring it more into focus. And as he came closer to structure he took notice of the four patrons standing before the doors to the tower. Three in which resembled animals, but standing on their hind legs, and another individual who wore.... "SHINI.. GAMI!" The great beast howls in intense hate for the Shinigami, for they were the ones that plagued his memories. Followed with the outburst of his hollow's cry, the creature charged forward towards the group to only see the tower doors part open and revealed a strange individual standing beneath the tower.
Adrastos could not hear what this individual spoke, but it would be most appropriate to take the opportunity to enter the hold while taking on his most despised enemy. With his spine like tail whipping about behind and talons crunching into the concrete floor, the beast charged with jaws opened wide to consume all that would stand in his way. The strength of his muscles pushing his colossal body forward to gain momentum as he musters his own physical strength to push against the sturdy floor to hasten his approach. Whether or not they move will be based on them, but no matter, for he will enter the tower head on and without fear.

Things got lively quickly enough, it seemed. Though Caedir's attention was on the tower, his keen senses picked up on the scent of another animal approaching. Though his first belief was that it was a wild, feral animal, instinct had him ready to react in a heartbeat; the cheetah stood, though his knees were still slightly bent, ready to propel him in any given direction. Brown eyes scanned the horizon while his ears perked up, trying to detect any sounds coming his direction. For a moment, Caedir's expression was completely feral, the flight-or-fight response obvious in his posture; though the feline's build and nature suggested that he would run rather than fight, there was something of a wary readiness that spoke of his ability to engage in combat as well.
Fortunately, the other quickly identified herself, and Caedir relaxed a fraction when he saw a jackal-like figure approaching. Though the feline doubted that others of his race visited the human world, here there was a female approaching him who couldn't be anything but another Beast-Clansman. The scent of another was about her, likely a mate or child that was in close association with her frequently, but Caedir lacked interest in her anyway; he was physically mature enough to seek out a mate, he just hadn't found the desire to do so yet. Instead, he waited patiently for the jackal to draw near, remaining in the same readied position until she drew close enough to speak and address him.
“Mmm...?” Though the conversation between the two seemed feral and simplistic, almost childish in nature, the two were conversing on a far more subtle level with the language of their bodies. Caedir's stance suggested that he was wary of a stranger, but a little bit more relaxed thanks to it being one of his own kind. However, the tilt of his head in reaction to the jackal's question suggested acknowledgment, even though his response seemed somewhat vague. Conversations on an animal level were far more than words, as the two demonstrated in their introduction alone. “You, jackal. Where mate, cub? Caedir smell.” A simple exchange of greetings, followed by a query, that's all his response was.
Of course, the question was not needed, given that a large otter came up behind her, bearing the female's scent. So, a matched pair, albeit an unusual one. Caedir's eyes darted from one to the other; though he was confident he could defeat both in combat, should it come to a display of dominance—the male in particular, he figured, since of the two he was likely to be the leader—he did not like confrontation, and was wary of the other two Beast-Clansmen. The cheetah's stance became slightly more tense, body coiled for quick movement should he need to either flee or charge. Though tension was not high yet, as neither side had made an actual show of aggression, Caedir was obviously ready in case it became so.
The issue was diffused by a pair of distractions, though; the first was a Shinigami who approached them all, using a strange term to address the group. Something about fur...? Well, whatever; Caedir had no problems with Shinigami that he didn't have with humans in general. But this one was shouting, and that usually meant that a human was mad about something. How annoying. The other was a large mask-creature, one that came charging towards the group, the new human in particular. Could anything else more bizarre happen in the space of a few minutes?
As the flight-or-fight response was strong at the moment, Caedir simply gave an order to the other two Beast-Clansmen, taking dominance momentarily to get them to follow him. “You, you, follow!” He quickly addressed the loud man as well. “You, fight mask-creature. Not good like Okami, though.” With that elusive remark, Caedir headed into the tower at a fairly fast pace, a little over half of his maximum speed, making the assumption that the other two Beast-Clansmen could keep up. With luck, they'd follow him, and the group would leave the human and mask-creature behind. Then they could work out things among themselves.
