Technique Name: Steelfang (Class 6 *) (Class 5 ^)
Class: 6, 5
Technique Type: Other
Usable By: Beast-Clan only
Technique Element: Metal
Technique Description and Effects: A basic technique, but one that enhances the abilities of a Beast-Clan's natural weapons immensely. By focusing Reiatsu in areas where they possess a natural weapon (i.e. spines, fangs, claws, stingers, etc), a Beast-Clan member can alter that portion of their body and change its composition so that it is as hard as spiritual steel. Not only does this make these weapons harder to damage or break, given the fact that they are based on the user's Reiatsu abilities, but this also increases the user's attack stat by 10%, but only as it relates to cutting. It also increases the length of natural weapons by a small amount, usually a few inches for claws, fangs, or spines, and very little more for anything else.
There are two versions to this technique. The Class 6 version is a brief, one-shot burst of transformation that lasts for all of one strike and then fades away. This allows the user to deal quick blows to pierce armor, but at the cost of draining more Reiatsu in the long run than a more permanent transformation. And speaking of permanent transformations, the Class 5 version lasts much longer. When activated, the higher version of Steelfang allows the transformation to remain for a total of three posts. This is increased to five posts if this technique is mastered. Additionally, the cutting strength increase goes up to 25% if this technique is mastered, but is only based on which versions are mastered.
How to use technique: Focus Reiatsu and pay the cost.
Technique Drawbacks: The first drawback is cost; this technique costs 50 Reiatsu per use for the Class 6 version, and 100 Reiatsu per use for the Class 5 version. It can be deactivated at any time. The Class 5 version also has a one-post cool down after its effects end, whether voluntarily or when the duration runs out. Note that this cool down means it cannot apply to any attacks used in previous posts, even if in the current one your attack has not landed, and that the Class 6 version cannot be used during this cool down as well. In addition, each version must be learned and mastered individually, with the effects of mastery only applying to the versions the TP has been spent for. This technique still only takes up one slot regardless of versions learned.
Technique Name: Camouflage (Class 5 *)
Class: 5-3
Technique Type: Ferality
Usable By: Beast-Clan (General)
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects: A skill many animals have is the ability to blend into their surrounding. Whether it's an evolutionary advantage such as the change of fur or scale patterns or simply an active ability to conceal oneself, it is a generally common ability. Beast-Clan members have the same ability, though it is a spiritual one rather than just a natural one. When this technique is activated, the user can blend in with their surroundings, hiding themselves, and the degree of such varies by the Class of technique used.
At Class 5, the technique allows for some small color changes, allowing the user to take a transitional appearance between their normal look and the environment they're blending into. This allows them to be harder to track and see against a background, requiring Senses of at least 100 or higher to notice them in detail at less than 100 speed. 75 or higher will notice them if they move at more than 100 Speed. At Class 4, they can fully take on the color of the background, and the amounts are increased to 175 Senses to notice them at less than 100 speed, and only 125 if they are moving at 100 or more speed. Finally, at Class 3, they are able to practically vanish, not only in color but in silhouette, and the amounts increase to 250 Senses to notice them at less than 100 speed, and 175 while moving at 100 or more speed.
How to use technique: The user focuses their Reiatsu on themselves, causing their appearance to blur and shift slightly, fading into the background. The amount varies by Class of technique used.
Technique Drawbacks: Costs are standard by Class, and apply for every post the technique is active. Second, to learn the higher-Class version of this technique, the user must know and master the lower-Class ones. i.e. to learn the Class 4 version, the Class 5 must be mastered, etc. Finally, this is only a visual cloaking; noise, spiritual presence, etc is not masked.
Technique Name: Howlburst (~)
Class: 4
Technique Type: Other
Usable By: Beast-Clan
Technique Element: Wind/Sound
Technique Description and Effects: A variation of the Howlrazer Ferality, Howlburst is an attack that focuses on raw damage rather than striking at something's hearing. A common tactic from an animal to cause intimidation is to roar, something that the Beast Clan know all too well about. Howlburst is used when someone has gotten too close for comfort and the Beast wants to make some distance. Using this technique, the Beast Clan roars and releases a sound wave from their body, pushing anything away from them. The wave is equal to their Strength stat, throwing back anything that has less strength than them.
How to use technique: Take a deep breath, build Reiatsu in the throat, and release it with a scream or howl of some sort.
Technique Drawbacks: Obviously, this technique cannot be used by mute characters. This technique also targets everyone except the user, including allies. This technique costs no reiatsu, due to being a physical feat. If used this technique can only be used three times within the span of ten posts since the first use, otherwise the character will lose their ability to talk for fifteen posts.
Technique Name: Shunpo (~)
Class: 7
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects: A movement technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow. The focal point that determines the bases of this technique is speed. As speed is the main point of the technique the method is best characterized by how fast one can get from point A to point B in the least amount of steps. Training and skill are what determines how fast a user of Shunpo can move; those of little skill in the technique or those who haven't used it an extended amount of time would obviously be out of practice, causing those individuals to be considerably slower, which requires the use of more steps to move the same distance and become winded far easier in a shorter amount of time. A single step magnifies speed for that step by 10 times. Uses 50 Reiatsu per step. This one is automatically learned in the academy. ALL Shinigami know this when created. This technique does not take up a technique slot.
How to use technique: A focus of reishi around the feet area, and then launching off into a single step which blurs, not unlike teleportation in appearance, except it is simply extremely fast movement. Often used to gain an edge in a single moment of combat, or to dodge incoming attacks.
Technique Name: Shunpo Karin (~)
Class: 5
Technique Type: Hoho
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects: The famous "partial Shunpo" technique. This allows the user to initiate a single movement at Shunpo speed with one limb. This cannot be used without initiating the forward momentum. The user will need to move their arm the way they normally would before this technique can be activated. Momentum for this technique cannot be controlled. This means once the user initiates this technique, they cannot stop their limb from the movement.
How to use technique: Stated above.
Drawback: Also stated above. Higher reiatsu cost than normal Shunpo. Limit is once per post. More stamina taxing than regular Shunpo.
Technique Name: Hair Needle (*)
Class: 6
Technique Type: Ferality
Usable By: Mammalian Beast Clan
Technique Element: Hair
Technique Description and Effects: One of the defining characteristics of Mammals is their hair or fur. An animal is not considered a mammal, usually, unless it has some sort of hair. That being said, this technique allows the Beast Clan user to fill their hair with reiatsu, making it rigid and straight. The hairs are then fired like porcupine needles, being shot out at speeds equal to the user's strength stat. It costs the standard class 5 reiatsu cost to do so, and shoots out 10 needles at a time. If this technique is mastered, then the user can delay the firing of the needles, instead using them as a deterrent to melee attacks or as an added piercing effect to their own attacks. To do this requires the standard cost be paid on the first post, then 25 reiatsu per post paid after that. These hairs are not spiritually durable, but are capable of piercing at equal power to the user's cutting strength. Meaning, they don't stand up to attacks well and are easily destroyed. They have little to no defense, sacrificing that for turning hair/fur into an attack.
How to use technique: Use reiatsu to straighten the hairs, then flex the pores of the body in order to shoot them out.
Technique Drawbacks:Reiatsu cost, lack of durability, small damage potential.
