On the Run [Marik and Kane JTT]

Heart racing. Breath coming in and out sharply. Legs going as fast as they could. Someone, no, something was being chased. The footsteps didn't sound human, they sounded... like talons on dirt. Like a chicken running... A person sized chicken... The birdman ran like his life depended on it, which it probably did. But who was chasing him? Why was he being chased in the first place? To answer these questions, rewind the clock a few hours. Looking back on the events of the day, what little of his life that he could remember flashing before his avian eyes, Kane Coo ran and ran.

September 5th, 20XX 8:45pm
Larvik, Vestfold, Norway

The late evening started with the Rogue combing the waterfront for shiny objects, like he did every night. He liked the water, and the dusk time as people started to become scarcer. In the dusk, it was easier to see the reflections of shiny things from the lights of the town and the setting sun. He loved to collect the shiny things and hoard them. He had quite the stash of things built up in this town, little pockets of shiny things buried places all around the town with not even 50,000 people living there. Sometimes his hiding places would be found and he'd lose some manner of pocket watches, makeup mirrors, coins, and belt buckles (his favorite were the belt buckles, by far, so he was sad to see those lost).

About a half hour into his combing the waterfront, the former beast clansman turned Rogue saw a doorway open up over the water. Not knowing what a Senkaimon was, he started to investigate only to see three armed Shinigami walk out of the Japanese doors and the lighted doorway close behind them and disappear into the orange and red hues of the setting sun behind them. They all carried shiny swords that both scared Kane and intrigued him. What if he got his hands on one of them? It would be the ultimate shiny thing, even though he hated swords.

However, what caught his eye even more was the shiny gold bracelet around the ankle of the female Shinigami that was part of the trio. It was polished to perfection, perfect in every way. He HAD to have it. So he stalked them for hours, hiding behind them in the shadows and waiting for the opportunity to strike and steal it. Weaving in and out of alleys, he followed them on their mission to Konso lost souls and put down Hollows, the latter of which there were none of and the former of which there were almost none of given the small population of the town.

"Why again were we called out here? This appears to be the middle of nowhere."

"Hush, seventh seat Andrakis. I am your superior officer, by two whole Seats, and we are here due to Rogue sightings. A kleptomaniac by the reports of it."

They got out of earshot of Kane and he couldn't make out what they were saying any more. He figured they were talking about him, but he still just had to have that shiny ankle bracelet with the five loops... And just like that, his opportunity arrived. The woman was sitting at a table, legs crossed, ankle just flapping in the wind waiting for him to snatch it. He didn't see the other two out of the corner of his eye, watching her intently, so as he crept up to the table to hide underneath it and grab at the bracelet, suddenly his cloak was grabbed from behind.

"Gotcha, thief!"

Kane cried out in a loud voice, "I am your superior officer and nowhere hereRogue thief!" The Shinigami dropped the cloak, suddenly surprised by hearing all three of their voices call out. Kane started to scramble for the ankle bracelet, successfully getting a hold of it, deftly removing it from the foot, and high tailed it out of there as quick as he could. The Shinigami hurried after him, leading to the heart racing, breath coming in and out sharply, legs going as fast as they could...

Inovation

is the corner stone of being lazy

It opens doors to make life easier

(1.) ‘It’s always the same’ marik would think to himself as he watched the clouds roll by above , a deep depression had taken hold of marik. These past few months he had spent away from hueco mundo had truly done a number on his psyche lately , he had spent the passing days with a nose buried in paperwork working in an office building.

(2) Urahara had sold him a nice suit and well kitai was good for getting all types of contraband that including a fake diploma from the prestigious school of yale. The repetitive task of filing paperwork over and over had a mind numbing effect almost like the endless slaughter of those in hueco mundo. Well not exactly similar atleast in hueco mundo each battle was like rolling the dice you never knew what you’d get , and in a way he almost missed the constant chaos of it all.

(3) “Why couldnt i just sleep for another hundred years?” he would sigh out the question as he leaned back against the fence atop the roof , this modern world was taking it’s toal on him mentally and it showed. He needed some form of stimulation besides awkward middle aged female humans hitting on him during work hours.

(4) hell he’d accept rizer’s incessant blithering over this all consuming boredom he was experiencing and it was a well known fact he hated that the most. He knew he could simply stop working all these jobs but he honestly didnt want to cause a scene and ping every shinigami this side of the country , those damn pests where bad enough when they weren’t up his ass before he became and adhuja any that showed up now might pose a serious threat to any future naps he may have in the future.

(5) One would think that maybe he had friends in the heavens but in truth he was just lucky , maybe it was the green hair or the star he was born under no one would truly ever know but his wish would soon be granted. Several voices would echo from the streets below , although that wasn’t quite the right way to describe it.

(6) it was more or less someone shouting in the stitched together voices of several people. Taking a moment to turn his head he would bear witness to two shinigami in hot pursuit of what appeared to be some sort of bird man , ‘huh guess we all look funny in this afterlife’ he would think to himself facing forward once more yawning as he leaned against the gate.

(7) Shifting his sleeve off his wrist he would look up at his watch as he tucked his arms behind his head , “i’ve got thirty minutes to kill” he would mummble to himself as he relaxed closing his eyes as he slipped out of his gigai. Rising from the construction of flesh and bone like a departed spirit m he would have just a moment to take in a deep breath and roll his shoulders feeling several satisfying pops as he was now free of the claustrophobic meat suit.

(8) Opening up his sense’s he would sense out where the small group of people had run off to , it wasn’t that hard to find what he was looking for three floodlights amongst a sea of flickering candles and being in pursuit didn’t make them a hard target to find.

(9) Leaping over the fence he would hit the ground so to speak running as used air ground to begin heading in the direction of where the chase was taking place , hopefully he could find out what all the fuss was about. It would take him some time before he got there approaching at 400 speed scanning the area below from above.
