Hotaru had been busy over the past few days. Her Vice Captain Aranatima has some awesome ideas for making the walls stronger and she has been helping as much as she can. With that, as well as her other duties with overlooking the defense of the Soul Society, she has been keeping herself rather busy. With all that was going on, she had almost forgotten that she was meeting with someone today. A woman named Izanami, which she barely knew but had heard about only slightly in passing.
Substitute shinigami was a title she hadn't really heard of until a woman named Izanami was referred to as one. Now personally, Hotaru had never met the woman personally, but heard that it was one of her family members that gave her the badge that makes her a substitute shinigami. Her first reaction was, what the heck can this human actually do with a title like that. The second was, why would one of her family members bring a human into the ranks of Shinigami like that?
She first looked through her family's library, to see if she could find anything on the subject. With some looking and asking, she did eventually find some information about them. It seemed that after being given a badge, which she tried to memorize in case she ever saw another one, the person was a representative of Soul Society in the human world, allowing them to give soul burials to any lost souls they found and to fight hollows/arrancars/other enemies of the Soul Society (such as Vanderich Quincy and Bounts).
This woman must be the first substitute shinigami in a long time, because this is really the first she had even heard of this. She then assumed that she might've heard about this at the family Manor, but with all her time devoted to her Division and then spending time with her husband in the human world, she didn't spend too much time in the manor at all. Since Amagi has been hard to find lately, she figured that the reason that this was done was now pretty impossible to find, if they would've told her anything at all.
But, since she was a representative of Soul Society, it seemed that she could still interact with other human world based organizations, such as Xcution. She didn't know much about them either, even though her husband works for them. She made a mental note to actually talk with him after this to figure out what he actually does there and more details about them. But, through a message, she was told to expect this Izanami woman to come to her division to relay some information.
It had now been about ten minutes past the normal meeting time and Hotaru was getting a bit antsy. She prided herself on being punctual and early to all the meetings that she has ever gone too, which she also expected out of her officers and Vice Captain. With her being late, it put Hotaru a little on edge. Getting a little annoyed, but also slightly worried that something might have happened to her (getting lost or whatnot), she grabbed her Captain's Haori and her zanpaktou before leaving the office.
Locking the door behind her and leaving a note telling Izanami that she was waiting in front of her division (in case she came through another way), she walked out towards the outside. Any of the officers that she would meet on the way there she would give them a slight run down of what was going on so they could be on the lookout for anyone that wasn't familiar to them. So now, it was just a waiting game for her. It was something that she hated with a passion, but if she was expecting someone, she had to wait if they were late.
The minutes ticked by and Hotaru was getting more frustrated as time went on. When it felt like thirty minutes had gone by (she didn't really have a watch or phone while she was in Soul Society), she was about ready to say something when she noticed something in the sky. She looked back up again and then noticed there was something off with the sky. What? She watched as the sky OPENED UP, which made her mouth hang open. It immediately made her think back to the time with Takashi.
Was he the one doing this again? Was he even still alive to do this? It was her first immediate reaction before she yelled for her officers. Once they arrived, she pointed up to the sky and they immediately went pale. She told them that she needed every single member of her division out to make sure that the Seireitei had a good enough defense and that the Rukongai would be protected as well. They nodded and immediately went to work while she unsheathed her zanpaktou.
It seemed that there were now things coming out of it. She didn't know what those things could be, but she did notice that some of those things were heading towards her division. She stood her ground and waited to see who or what these things were and what they wanted. But, once she got a good look at them, her mouth hung open again. But, this time, she tried to shut it as quickly as she could. There was no way that these people were here. They were supposed to be dead!

Making her way through Soul Society was something that Nami hadn't had to do in the past. It was actually regular protocol for a Shinigami to come to the apartment that she had been provided in order to receive reports about what Nami had to deal with usually on a bi-weekly basis. She had come back to the apartment after a long day of patrols to find that there was a Hell-butterfly waiting inside of her apartment with a message to come to Soul Society in order to report directly to the Captain of the Tenth Division about the last few months of activity in Karakura Town.
Although it was out of the norm there was no reason to suspect that this wasn't simply an annual report the first of which she might have to complete every few months of duty. Wasting no time at all for this was another aspect of her duty as a substitute shinigami Nami held out her badge in order to open a Senkimon Gate and step through into Soul Society. It took some time to get through the dark slimy tunnel dimension that connected the two worlds together, but when she finally got to the entrance of Soul Society Nami stepped through onto the white cement floor of the Shinigami Capital.
The butterfly hadn't given her specific directions to the barracks of the Tenth Division more than likely because it was assumed that Nami had already been to Soul Society of her own free will which in fact she hadn't. The last time that she had been here had been when she had been captured and held in the prison. Now that she walked throughout the captial of her own free will she noticed that there were many Shinigami constantly moving from one place to another while also groups of Shinigami that didn't seem to be doing anything other than talking to one another.
After a few minutes of wondering to no avail Nami was stopped by a Shinigami that took an extra moment to look her way and saw that while she was wearing all black just like them she wasn't wearing the same uniform. Not to mention that she didn't feel like a Shinigami or even a human. The Shinigami had thought the worst and at the moment as he starred at her from a few feet away a sweat twickled down his brow. She felt like a Hollow.
Making the Captain wait for so long now was just something that Nami had no control over. She didn't in all honesty no how she ranked compared to the average Shinigami in terms of rank and because of that simply kept her mouth shut unless asked a question. This Shinigami saw her as a possible threat and wanted to know how she had gotten into Soul Society and what she was doing here now. After several minutes of constant questions with short answers and threats Nami saw something in the sky that pulled her attention away from the Shinigami.
As she saw figures begin to descend from the hole in the sky Nami could tell from instinct as a weapon herself that this wasn't anything other than an attack. Soul Society was being attacked right now and as an extension of Soul Society it was her duty, her purpose to stop them. The Shinigami that had been questioning her looked away for a moment only to miss Nami rushed off towards the figures. It would take her a bit to reach the figures if she didn't rush, but from what she could sense even at this distance the reiatsu of these entities was something to truly fear.

Home again…
Zeich sat in Rukongai District 2, located near one of Seireitei’s outer walls, relaxing in a rather well-kept inn. This close to the dwelling of the Shinigami, the Rukongai districts were in pretty good condition, as Shinigami through frequently enough, warranting extra care to draw their attention. The shopping districts were exceptional in that regard, with wares from multiple worlds—some real, some fake—could be found for purchase. Specially prepared foods were another luxury that came with the cared-for district, particularly for Shinigami, who used the consumption of food to help bolster their physical and spiritual energy. Indeed, Zeich could smell the faint aroma of spices rising up from the bazaar one street down, a mixture of smells that tickled at his sensitive nose.
The Vizard sat at a balcony table on the second floor of the inn, where he could sit in relative privacy away from the crowds. He maintained his usual outfit, but had added a broad-rimmed hat that he could tilt forward to hide his face and, more importantly, his eyes from public view; the last thing he needed to do was advertise his presence by his unusual gaze. Fortunately, limiting the view of his face didn’t limit his sight, as being blind made him rely on Haiiro’s input anyway. Thus Zeich could pass off his disguise as simply being antisocial, a trait which came naturally to him. It was a decent compromise compared to remaining hidden, allowing him to take in conversations around him while still observing the general situation through Haiiro’s eyes.
The wolf was curled up beneath the table, his head resting on his paws as he looked out between the bars of the balcony’s railing. The Zanpaktou Spirit had drawn some attention on their arrival, and though some eyes were on the wolf, they weren’t on Zeich, which was important. A wild animal was a spectacle, but a Vizard among the people of Soul Society would devolve into chaos quickly. Haiiro was pleased with the attention, but he had always been one to seek it while his master preferred his anonymity. It was why the Zanpaktou Spirit was the usual representative at Uzaki Enterprises rather than the Vizard himself; the two of them could communicate with one another mentally, and Haiiro enjoyed being around people, so it worked out.
This wasn’t a luxury visit, however; Zeich rarely came to Soul Society for the simple reason that he was considered a monster and a threat to the Shinigami. It came with being a Vizard, and he couldn’t deny the fact that he was a “monster,” containing a carnage-seeking Hollow within his soul. If his concentration ever broke… well, an entire district of the Rukongai had learned what would happen. Though Zeich had vowed to never let it happen again, he understood the fear that others harbored.
But today, that fear would have to be put aside. Though he couldn’t say exactly why, Zeich knew something was about to happen. Call it intuition, or call it insight; after the recent events involving the Senzaikyu Prison and the changes and shifts to the various worlds that came as a result of it, it felt… incomplete. It felt as though there were more to it. The Vizard couldn’t put into words what it was he felt, but it was something between dread, wariness, and anticipation. It was like the air was charged with the potential of something to come. Whatever it was, it had Zeich uncomfortable enough that he had risked a trip into Soul Society, hoping to identify the source of this uneasiness before it could manifest into something worse.
“Excuse me, sir. Have you decided what you’d like to order?”
A waitress had approached with a surprisingly delicate pace; Zeich had only just picked out her footsteps among the other sounds around him. Ah, yes, an order; it would be suspicious to remain at his table without purchasing anything. A small query to Haiiro returned a simple script, and the Vizard tilted his head in the direction of the waitress, keeping his eyes hidden still as he indicated that he was looking in her general direction. “Ah, I’m sorry, miss, but I didn’t get a chance to mention my disability; I’m afraid I’m blind, so I’m not able to read the menu. Would you be so kind as to make some suggestions for something to drink?” Anyone who knew Zeich knew those were not his words, as the Vizard was blunt and to the point in his conversations.
“Ah, of course, sir. We have several teas that are freshly brewed for each table, and...” The waitress trailed off, and Haiiro sent a brief image of the woman’s gaze directed down at the wolf beneath the table. “...Excuse me, sir. I apologize for my rudeness, but…” In the next image, a frown was conveyed, and this was accompanied by a small wash of irritation from Haiiro. “Would, um… would it be possible for you to leave your um… companion elsewhere? I’m sorry, but we have received one or two remarks of concern, and well, I...”
“I’m not some common pet, miss, so please do not insult me by treating me like one.” Haiiro piped up, and Zeich suppressed a sign. Here we go...
Another image showed the waitress’s shocked expression, and this time a wave of mixed amusement and satisfaction came from Haiiro; it seemed that the wolf was enjoying himself now. “Now, if you’ve got anything that’s somewhat bitter, that’d be preferable; my ‘companion’ isn’t fond of sweets. And if you could be so kind as to bring me a bowl of water as soon as possible, I’d appreciate it; I’m practically drying up.”
“Uh… right away, uh… s-sir? I’ll be back shortly...” Hurried footsteps suggested a hasty retreat, and Zeich signed softly, shaking his head at Haiiro. ...Was that really necessary? I could have ordered you water myself if you really wanted it.
Something of a dignified sniff came through their bond. Well, I’m not some dumb animal, and I refuse to be treated like one. That wave of temporary indignation quickly faded though, and was replaced by amusement and glee. Plus, it was kind of fun. Did you see the expression on her face when I spoke to her? And she even called me ‘sir!’ Hah, I could get used to that kind of treatment.
I wouldn’t; you won’t hear it from me.
Oh, not from you, Master! But maybe some of the lackeys low on the corporate ladder at wor—
Suddenly, the air seemed to grow tense. Zeich’s senses flared, both spiritual and physical, and even his weak ability to sense energy picked up something that pulsed through the sky above. Haiiro’s gaze was immediately directed upwards, and the two of them both froze in shock at the image projected: a hole that was carved across the space above Soul Society, one that had not been there only moments ago. Worse, there was something—no, a lot of things coming out of the opening. An invasion? An attack? Whatever it was, Zeich’s intuition told him that this was not a friendly encounter, not from an advantageous angle of attack with such numbers. No, this was an assault by an unknown enemy force.
Rather than worry further about being spotted, Zeich tossed his hat aside and leapt out onto the balcony’s railing before springing off of it and onto a nearby roof. The Vizard quickly increased his pace as soon as he hit the tiles, moving at an incredible speed to most as he made his way from rooftop to rooftop up until he reached the gates of Seireitei. It was a simple enough matter to slip in from there; the doors were open to allow Shinigami from the Rukongai to re-enter the main city and prepare for an assault once the barrier above Seireitei faltered, so Zeich simply moved with the rest of the crowd and made his way into the city itself. From there, the Vizard quickly rose to higher ground again, and used the advantage of his speed to head towards the center of Seireitei, where the majority of Soul Society’s forces would be gathering to meet the advancing force. He’d be able to act best if he was in a position to gather information and watch the distribution of forces to maximize his effectiveness.
That was why he stopped atop the Tenth Division Barracks; as the central defensive forces, they would have the most accurate information on the upcoming attack, as they would be the first to field it. The Vizard perched carefully atop the main gate, releasing his Zanpaktou as he approached; unlike most, his Release gave no indication of its presence, and immediately the suppressive ash wrapped itself around the Vizard and concealed his location from spiritual senses. Combined with his talents in stealth, he could sit and remain undetected by all but the most observant individuals. Now, he just had to watch for a good opportunity.
Or, you know, there’s a kind-of-friendly-but-probably-not-friendly face down there we could talk to. After being re-formed by Spiritual Projection, Haiiro sent another projection, one that indeed showed a familiar face, but one that drew a frown to Zeich’s own; Hotaru Kuchiki-Masurao, the Captain of the Tenth Division, stood with her Zanpaktou drawn not far ahead of Zeich’s position atop the gates. He had a good view of the woman from above, and were he an assassin, this would be an ideal striking position; she was fortunate that he had no such designs. Still, interesting that the Captain would remain at her Barracks, rather than on the front lines; was it a decision of observation, a desire to protect her people, a sign of cowardice? Whatever it was, she was there and, indeed, if Zeich had chosen to, he could have approached. The two had worked together however briefly in the past, and though they were not on the friendliest terms, Soul Society’s protection would probably outweigh whatever hostility came between them. Still, Zeich saw no need to involve himself… yet.
Let’s just watch and wait, right now. We’ll address Captain Kuchiki-Masurao if needed, but until then, let’s just keep an eye out.
Ah, Master, ever the wallflower…
Remaining Reiatsu: 7500/8000 (-100 for Shikai, -400 for Spiritual Projection: Zanpaktou Spirit)
Why... were they dressed in white? Almost like Quincy. There were three of them, and they were the last to arrive. As the flood of black cloaked soldiers descended, many of the Shinigami mooks facing them quickly realized that they were Asauchi souls. "Why are Asauchi attacking us?!" one Shinigami shouted, her blade clashing with that of one of the soldiers.
She turned and was cut down in a flash by a second enemy behind her. She fell to the ground, her breath shallow, her blood pooling onto the ground. Squad 4 medics were already on the battlefield and she was placed within a barrier with medical Kido working away at her wound within seconds. The full force of the Gotei Thirteen was already coming to play. It had been decisive and swift, which meant that Squad 1 was already issuing orders. Even under invasions from the likes of Kuroi, Soul Society almost never reacted this quickly. Now they were.
The three in white descended after all of that. While Hotaru and Izanami were cutting down Asauchi and Zeich was arriving near Hotaru to observe the situation there was a roaring sound like thunder rolling, echoing. The ground split as a crater formed in it and a brilliant flash of light with an accompanying BOOOOMMM!! struck. When the smoke and dust cleared from that most forceful arrival of three villains did the Shinigami see whom they were dealing with.
Zeich would sense it. Hotaru would see it. Izanami would too, though youth and being from the human world would make it less impactful for her. She would see that they were amazingly powerful, would know to be weary of them, but the impact on Zeich and Hotaru was much greater. It was a flashback to their earliest days as Soul Reapers. Before Zeich had been a Vizard and an outlaw and Hotaru had been a Kuchiki and a Captain, there had been others.
In the days of what some might call Soul Society's greatest might, when there were Vice Captains such as Hiro Kaname or Irudai Izumi, when Enma had been a regular at Captain's meetings and Sozen Kuchiki had been new, the battle with Zouma Santeku not yet come to pass. In those earliest days there had been many truly mighty Captains. Squad 1 had had Old Lightning back then, and Squad 10 had boasted a huge, fearsome man who loved to do battle. Squad 11 had boasted a shorter man who loved battle just as much and for just the same reasons. Squad 12 had boasted a freak with devilishly white skin and closed eyes all over his body.
And now they returned again, those Captains of antiquity. For Zeich, Izanami, and Hotaru were faced with Saix Shinra, Okusa Shogen, and Bokuga Sayuri. All of them were grinning, all of them stepped out from their crater. They were leading this attack.

Hotaru stood her ground in front of her division, watching the things falling from the sky. Once they landed, she immediately started to fight off these things. During her initial confusion as to what she was fighting, it finally hit her as to what these things were. Asauchi. Why in the hell would they be attacking here? She had never known them to come here in the manner that they did and just attacking randomly like this. As a matter of fact, she didn't even know that they had attacked at all.
She called on all her battlefield expertise from before her death till now to keep herself ahead of the curve to keep up with the mass of Asauchi that was coming her way. It was slow going, but she was keeping her head above water, slashing down all that stood in her way. When there was a light lull before the next wave, she saw the three that were floating down and she was brought back to the field in front of her when more started coming towards her.
It was then that she heard the rolling thunder and then she felt the earth beneath her shake with a loud BOOM reverberated around her and an extremely bright light flashed around her. Most of the Asauchi around her now had fallen beneath the shake and even she had to take a knee to brace herself against it. She stood quickly, trying to look around to see any more enemies while coughing from the dust and trying to clear her eyes from the sudden brightness.
Once her eyes finally adjusted and her coughing subsided, it was then that she noticed who it was and her mouth immediately dropped open. There was no way that these three people could even be here. She looked them over and stopped at the one in the center, surprised to see Okusa Shogen here. He was the old captain of her division and was well known for his strength and chaos. If she remembered correctly, he would fight people over snow cones, which to her made no sense whatsoever.
She knew a little bit about Saix Shinra and Bokuga Sayuri, but she specifically studied up on Okusa, since she was filling in his spot and brought his insane division back into some semblance of order. The division seemed to thrive in the order, but knowing what she did, she had no idea how in the hell he would react to seeing her here. Honestly, she had no idea how he would react in general or the other two.
Also, why pick the old captains of divisions Ten, Eleven and Twelve. Was there some sort of connection between the three of these men? Was there something about them that she didn't know? They were smiling and walking out from the crater. She took her scabbard out and held it in her left hand, ready to release if necessary. She stood there staring them down. Taking a breath, she looked at them in the face. "How are you three even here? You should be dead. If you are actually involved in this, back down now or I will have to defend Soul Society against you."
Standing there, she would continue her deep breathing, preparing to defend herself and watching as best she can for any weird or surprise attacks. She will move her hand up to give herself a quick cut while she was talking, activating her Anti-Pain skill, giving her an extra edge just in case something happened.

Item Name: Stone Aura Orb: Aspect of Stone (Own 5) Item Type: Consumable Item Description: This extremely bright brown orb is about the size of a baseball, and is infused with one of Kyomei’s most potent Auras. The Aura set into this orb is from his Aspect of Stone, and manifests itself as a massive armor of reiatsu possessing the user’s reiatsu strength. In order to break through it, the opponent must have more than 150% of the user’s reiatsu strength. In order to use it, one must place as much of it as can fit into their mouth and crush it with their teeth. This causes an extremely painful shard of stone to stick into multiple places in the user’s mouth, lowering instincts by 5% for the duration of the pain, which is 3 posts, before subsiding. Immediately after the orb is crushed, the Aura extends from them for a maximum of 5 posts. Consuming more than one orb at a time is impossible and consuming more than one large orb in the course of an entire thread can cause the user to black out.
Item Name: Carrier Belt (Own 1) Item Type: Clothing Item Description: This belt has 12 slots for carrying any sized orb, and is easily concealed underneath the folds of other clothing
Item Name: Secret Blades (Own 1) Item Type: Clothing/Weapon Item Description: This appears to be an ordinary set of boots, however this is no ordinary store, and would be silly for ordinary boots to be in an extraordinary store. Upon closer inspection, there is a trigger in the toe of the boot, activated by purposeful twitching of the feet. This trigger lets a knife blade slide out, five inches in length, which obviously is good for cutting into opponents with a kick. In addition, there is a small compartment in the sole where a small or medium sized Aura orb would fit. Storing and activating a wind orb would provide a 10% increase to cutting strength of the blades. Storing and activating an electrical orb would shock those who touch the blade, a fire orb doing the same but with burning. A water orb would allow the blade to become a two foot long whip. A stone orb would increase the defensive power of the blades by 10%. The secret blades also come in a glove model, which holds the orb in the palm of the hand. The gloves look like a regular metal gauntlet, but have a blade that slides out of the wrist.
Item Name: Reiatsu Concealing Cloak (Own 1) Item Type: Cloak Item Description: This rather extravagent looking cloak has the Shihoin Family symbol displayed with grey thread across its back, and is a simple matte, non-reflective black. What this item does is simple: It completely and utterly conceals the reiatsu signature of the wearer at all times, as if they were actively masking his reiatsu. The wearer of this cloak can still release up to Shikai, and still remain concealed by the cloak. This requires no concentration or activation, and is continous so long as they wear the cloak. This item will work ONLY for the person who commissioned it, and for nobody else. In addition, the cloak is incredibly durable, requiring double the wearer's RS to tear or otherwise damage.

Madness: that was really the only word for a situation like this. The clash of metal blades, the stamp of hundreds of feet, the cries of wounded and dying. The air rang with sound, quivered with the scent of blood spilled across the ground. A battle, it seemed, and as Haiiro’s gaze swept across the field to project as much visual information possible, Zeich took in the rest from his own senses. It took no time at all to piece everything together, and before long, he had a clear idea of the situation. Two major points of note came to mind as he organized it all before him.
The first was the nature of the enemy: as identified by another Shinigami before she was cut down, these were Asauchi souls, the base Zanpaktou before they bonded and resonated with the soul of a proper owner. Most of them were raw fighters, with no actual ability to use a Shinigami’s abilities, but in such numbers, they served as excellent foot soldiers. Worse, because they were fighting against the Shinigami of Soul Society, it meant that they were being controlled or guided somehow, indicating an outside force of great strength to direct their focus into an attack on those they would normally become one with. Who was behind the attack was not yet clear.
The second point of interest was the hole in the sky, the origin point of this attack. Where did it lead? Where had it come from? Destination and location were often unrelated, and it was doubtful that this was any different, but the fact that their opponents were Asauchi worried Zeich. Where had so many of them come from? What realm would have that many raw Zanpaktou forged and manifested to the point where they could create an army? Short of a secret factory somewhere, the Vizard could only think of one possibility, and even that one was more myth than fact in the minds of many: The Soul King’s Palace, the realm where all Zanpaktou were said to come from. That an attack could possibly be coming from such a location… well, it sent shivers through Zeich to think about it.
The situation was a strange one, and certainly concerning, but Zeich quickly organized a plan of attack. The first priority was at least stemming the Asauchi army, diminishing their numbers and holding a line against them. Hotaru and her forces would be in charge of that situation, as that was the nature of their job: they were the first and hopefully final line of defense against any attacking enemies. While they were busy, Zeich decided that he’d slip in among the back lines; he had the best opportunity to do so, masking both his physical and spiritual presence, and the Vizard could quickly locate and dispatch any enemy leaders to decapitate their forces and sow chaos.
Step one was already in play, so Zeich prepared himself to leap to the next rooftop and begin his reconnaissance among the enemy ranks. Before he could do so, however, even his faint senses caught a wave of energy approaching even as a mental cry from Haiiro filled their connection. A blast of force washed over the battlefield, and only the clinging nature of Zeich’s Zanpaktou kept it attached to his body to maintain his concealment. Haiiro sent a brief image, a flash of light so bright he could only look for a moment, followed by the revelation of a large crater that stood in the middle of the battlefield. Three figures stood within it, likely the source of it, and slowly Haiiro’s vision focused to project a clear image of them.
...What…!?
Zeich’s shock was so great that it echoed back through the bond and reverberated, disrupting the connection between him and Haiiro briefly before the Zanpaktou Spirit managed to recover from the surprise. The Vizard hardly noticed though as the image remained within his mind, projecting three faces he was more than familiar with, three faces he had not seen in a long time. Saix Shinra and Bokuga Sayuri; a madman for battle and a scientist whose genius was matched only by his freakish nature. These two were Captains of yore, figures who had vanished in the mists of time. Some said they were dead, others said they had simply departed. Whatever the case, they were here now, and by the look of it, they were not on the side of the Shinigami forces.
But of the three, the last stood out most to Zeich. Okusa Shogen, a man whom the Vizard had previously sought out alongside another Shinigami, Irudai, in a city of Failures. Though that mission had failed, and they had been unable to trace the man’s movements, the fact was that he had been there. No one knew why Okusa, a man who lusted for battle, had simply vanished; rumors circulated, some saying that he left looking for a worthy opponent, others saying that his already questionable sanity had snapped, causing him to abandon his comrades. There were a thousand and one stories about his departure, but none had really rung of sincere truth; no one actually knew what had happened.
Three Captains. This was not a battle that Zeich wanted, not if he could avoid it; at best, he could handle two by himself, in normal situations. This was not normal, and each of the Captains before him were a head and shoulders above the modern-day Shinigami leaders. Okusa and Saix were known for their immense physical prowess, while Bokuga’s ability to wield his own spiritual presence as a devastating weapon was terrifying when paired with his intellect. No, these three were a league above most, and though Zeich was sure that he could probably fight one-on-one with any of them, there was no way he’d be able to deal with all three at once, not even Hotaru fighting at his side. Two Captain-level combatants against three? That would still be unreasonable odds. Yet delay was not an option either, not if these three were the enemy. The total risk of damage any one of them could provide was terrifying, but if all three let loose, it was possible that there might not be a Soul Society left standing afterward.
Haiiro...
The wolf caught the wave of concern that flowed between them, understood its origin, and responded without missing a beat in his usual jovial tone. I know, Master. Let’s get ‘em; I can think of worse ways to go out than smashing our old officers.
Immediately, Zeich began preparations for his assault. Ash flowed across the rooftop, leaving Zeich with only enough to form his Zanpaktou’s Shikai shape, splitting itself into a secondary mass to be weaponized in a few moments. The Vizard moved down to ground level a few buildings over, ensuring that he was still keeping hidden from watching eyes. It wouldn’t be for long; as soon as he struck, he would be a screaming beacon that would draw all eyes to him.
Breathe. Zeich’s feet made no noise as he ran across the broken street, positioning himself around a corner within a short distance of the three Captains. He was not yet in striking range, but he would be in but a moment. Once everything was in place, he’d attack. Breathe. Terror clutched at Zeich’s throat, threatening to choke him and break his resolve, a fear that he had not experienced since he first fought with Tsukikage for dominance. Breathe. Haiiro was directed to return to ground level as well when the attack began; he had his own part to play in this. Breathe! Emotion and logic conflicted, but Zeich struggled to contain his apprehension, the knowledge that he was about to leap to his death momentarily. The wolf’s mask formed over his golden eyes, Reiatsu gathered in Zeich’s blade as he prepared his Entei technique to add weight to his strike, and in that moment, he took his opportunity.
...Strike.
Suddenly, four bolts of gray would simply seem to shoot from the right of the three Captains, four bladed lances that would rain down on them and pierce if they struck. At a speed of 600, they were hardly impressive, but they would draw attention to the side for one brief moment. One would aim for Saix and Okusa respectively, while two would drive straight towards Sayuri, the three strikes coordinated for deadly accuracy should they hit. But they were not meant to hit, no; these attacks were decoys, a distraction away from Zeich’s direction. It would last for only a moment, if that, and then the Captains, with their battle prowess, would no doubt catch on to the nature of the ruse. It was in that moment that the Vizard would strike, dealing a decisive blow as soon as possible, and opening up the possibility for Soul Society’s survival.
In that half-second of possibility, Zeich would appear behind Sayuri, his sword swinging at a blinding speed even as he arrived in an almost untraceable blur. 8000 Speed, thirteen times faster than his blades had struck a moment before, was enough to leave even the fastest minds a second behind the action, and that only applied if he had been using a regular Shunpo. No, if the space of a moment was all that Zeich would get, then he was going to act in that brief leap of time with as much speed and decisive action as he could. This step came at a blinding 12000 Speed, allowing him that minor, momentary opening that he needed. It would only last for a second, as Shinkirou’s nature was two-way rather than a single step, but that was all the time that the Vizard would get for an attack anyway.
And attack he did; the former Shinigami’s Zanpaktou launched free of its sheath at a whopping 8000 Speed with the use of Shunpo Karin, and at point blank only Zeich’s enormously increased reflexes allowed him to make it in time. Mental acuity, combat experience, emotional equilibrium; these were talents that Zeich possessed, enabling him to act at a pinnacle of performance above that of the average Shinigami, and in this moment, it showed. Sayuri literally would not have the time to move to even spot Zeich as the Vizard closed his distance and struck out with a powerful slash that would decapitate the man in that split second, an attack with a force of 1850 that would likely bypass any defense that the former Captain possessed.
The attack would come so fast that it would leave a shockwave of impact from Zeich’s initial stop even as he rebounded back to his initial position and then hit the ground running, the force of the step blowing up dust and staggering anyone nearby who was not braced to stand against it. It would take sharper eyes than most possessed to even see where it came from; to most, it would simply be a blast of force that would cleanly lift Sayuri’s head from its shoulders, if the attack struck true.
And the moment that wave struck, Haiiro would land on the ground, raising his voice so that Hotaru could hear him a short distance behind her. “Captain! Incinerate them now, don’t hesitate! Unleash your full force while you can! Use the opportunity while it’s there!”
Remaining Reiatsu: 7300/8000 (-200 for Kaijin Ken x4)
Suspended Reiatsu: 750 (-400 for Shinkirou, -100 for Shunpo Karin, -250 for Entei)

Moving from one street to the next getting ever closer to the location where the mass majority of enemies that Nami could see descending from the sky were converging was the substitute Shinigami. As she continued to move throughout the streets though she kept running across more and more of the enemies. Strange white entities that looked identical to one another and felt different than anything else She had ever sensed spiritually. These were different yet unknown to Nami. She had released her Fullbring to the form strange once she noticed the beginnings of the attack. Which despite not knowing what these things were was the only logical response to an opposing force.
Eventually after what could have only been at max a full minute of running did one of these entities attack Nami. It was faster and stronger than the usual Hollow and Shinigami that Nami faced throughout her existence. Nami possessing no connection to them as the Shinigami did began to cut down one after another utilizing her experience at facing down humanoid entities and wielding her Fullbring's size. She didn't manage to get through them unharmed though. Although powerful in her own right Nami was still inexperienced and weak compared to the Captains of Soul Society who could deal with these entities like nothing. By the time she leaped from the street up onto a stone wall to get a new view she had sustained multiple shallow cuts and moderate bruises across her arms.
Halfway through the conflict that she had just emerged from Nami had felt and heard the sound of a massive impact a short distance off. The impact had resulted in Nami's focus loosening which led to her first wound of a heavy dark purple bruise on her left shoulder. Now as she stood atop the wall she could see roughly half a mile away that there was a massive crater. Although her senses were lacking by comparison to many other entities they were enough that Nami could spot that there were three individuals standing in the center of the crater. Although unlike the others Nami didn't recognize the three she could tell that each of them was incredibly powerful and would take more than just her to defeat. She could help the Captain currently standing against them yet two against one was still not logical.
As she watched though Nami picked up on something new happening on the battlefield. Although no new entity had shown themselves what looked like spears were being conjured on the field to attack the three entities starring down the Captain. Whoever was choosing to jump into this fight was on the side of the Captain. In the following moment something happened yet it occured so fast that Nami didn't see a thing. All she could pick up was a new reiatsu signature that was at a massive rise and then a shockwave across the crater. After the shockwave though Nami could see that there was a new entity in the crater screaming at the Captain to attack.
Nami channeled her reiatsu as she jumped off from the wall towards the crater. After a few moments she would stop and then after a moment begin to exhale a massive amount of fire from her mouth out towards the three enemies. The fire was rushing towards the enemies at a minor speed of 500, but it's span of space would be enough to hit all of them If they didn't dodge. Although Nami was attacking to help the Captain and whoever else had just attacked the enemies, she didn't believe that Soul Ignition would be enough to harm them or even make them dodge more than once.
A large force field of reiatsu formed around Sayuri, Okusa, and Saix. The force field was shaped like a samurai riding a dragon and was larger than a skyscraper. It only lasted long enough to repel all of the incoming attacks, and then it subsided. The three of them were unharmed. "Why, we're here for the Sokkyokku and the Hell Beads." Sayuri said to Hotaru. "If you give them to us now then you can all live and we'll end this attack. If you don't want to then that's acceptable. We'll kill all of you and then take them."
When the force field disappeared and these three were left standing it seemed like all hope might be lost. How could so many strong people be leading this attack? There were other reiatsu signatures that were Captain level too around the battlefield. It was more than just these three. These three were not supposed to be alive either. Here they were anyway. Okusa didn't speak, which was unusual. Saix didn't speak, which was unusual. Sayuri was the one who was doing the talking. None of them attacked yet.
"You have that choice." Sayuri said. "Give us the items. We aren't here to hurt anyone. When our boss has it then we'll be allowed to rest and return to being dead too. I think that works for everyone..." The strength of the force field was a problem. It had been collective between the three of them and it had combined all of their offensive powers into one big number that could reflect basically any attack. What would it mean if they could continue to block everything that was thrown at them?
Their barrier was a new technique. They have to cost it together but it can cover all of them if they're standing next to each other. It combines all of their dominant offensive stats and is class 1. It costs 300 reiatsu each with each use.
