OOC: This is a Joint Training between Himitsu Misute and Kyomei Kuchiki. Himitsu will be training for TTP, much of which will go into learning Kidou Fusion from Kyomei.

Knock knock knock.
Himitsu’s tight first bounced off the door thrice in quick succession. He was having a hard time identifying the emotions swirling in his stomach. There were a few nerves, maybe because he still hadn’t handed in his resignation to Sozen yet. But he was going to get to that soon. He came to the Kido Corps Captain’s Office that afternoon to take care of some business first.
Himitsu didn’t have an appointment, but he asked some unseated soul reapers passing by and they seemed fairly certain Kyomei was sitting in his office. The Lieutenant – well, Lieutenant for now – waited patiently on the otherside of the door, picturing the Kido Corps Captain’s office as he knew it a hundred years ago. A part of Himitsu longed to see that the office had been completely changed and redecorated so that none of Mamuro’s bitterness or ruthlessness tainted it, but he also hesitantly held onto his memory of the room as he knew it. It was a piece of him. One he needed to accept and release.
Perhaps meeting with the head of the Kido Corps would help with that. Kyomei was knowing for being generally kind, and that was a reputation Himitsu respected. Kind and strong Kyomei Kuchiki. Maybe he didn’t carry any of the brutality of his relative Sozen. Maybe he could see through people like Souza could. There was no telling what kind of man Kyomei could be, but Himitsu was optimistic. He hoped that the captain would stay true to his nickname, the Angel’s Reiatsu.

Training for TTP
Curses, those newbies giving people bad directions. One of the Commander's seated officers passed by him at the outdoor Kidou range and said there was someone knocking on his office door. "What? I'm almost never there... Who directed him there?" With a shrug, all they could say is maybe one of the new academy graduates had figured he was there. Typical. Dropping what he was studying, he hurried to his office with a Shunpo, arriving by the door in a gust of wind. Dusting off his black cloak, he apologized to the man who had to wait.
"So sorry for your wait, I'm almost never in that dusty old office. It's hard to really study Kidou inside, you know?" The Commander moved past Himitsu, applying some reiatsu to the door and causing it to unlock and open. "Please, after you." Himitsu obviously knew who he was looking for, so Kyomei didn't see the need to introduce himself, simply welcoming the man into his small study. The office was small, but roomy, with many bookshelves full of books.
Most of the books were of a personal nature, such as collections of poetry and other literature. A great many of the books were wholly devoted to Kidou, of course. Books detailing the History of certain spells, the standard use, and even some books with locks on them devoted to the creative and or forbidden uses of certain spells. Such knowledge would be the job of the Kidou Corps Commander to catalog and study, after all. "So what can I do for you? I just hope you're not here to get to my cousin through me, though. It gets a little dry after the tenth time or so. I wish more people would come to see me for my Kidou talents and not my noble connections, you know?

Himitsu’s only warning was a brief surge of reiatsu before a man suddenly appeared before him. Himitsu recognized his face immediately. Kyomei Kuchiki, Captain of the Kido Corps. "So sorry for your wait, I'm almost never in that dusty old office. It's hard to really study Kidou inside, you know?" The Vice Captain responded with a small smile. "Please, after you."
“Thank you.” Himitsu entered the office, his eyes scanning the room. The walls were the same. The floor was the same. The bookshelf was the same. But it definitely wasn’t the same room. The desk was replaced, as were other piece of furniture. The books on the bookshelf hardly resembled those Mamuro Kasmu’Oji possessed. A few of the older texts, maybe, but the rest had never been in his possession. Time really did work on the office. After briefly letting his eyes wander around the room, Himitsu took a seat on the chair across from Kyomei’s desk. Maybe he should have waited until he was offered a seat, or until Kyomei sat at his own desk first, but Himitsu was never too great with social conventions. Sitting down seemed like the right thing to do, so he did.
"So what can I do for you? I just hope you're not here to get to my cousin through me, though. It gets a little dry after the tenth time or so. I wish more people would come to see me for my Kidou talents and not my noble connections, you know?” Himitsu chuckled a little. “Haha, I’m sorry Kyomei but I have other ways of getting to Sozen if I wanted to. I am his Vice Captain, after all.” Would then see that the unreasonably tall man sitting in his office was none other than Himitsu Misute, Lieutenant of Squad 6 who had been reported missing in Hueco Mundo for the past month.
But that label was partially false. Himitsu Misute was just part of the whole. Kyomei was meeting a different man than the second-in-command to Sozen. “My name is Himitsu Kasumi’Oji. I’ve been gone this past month, but I’m back and I’ve got a crazy story to share.” The lieutenant smiled a little awkwardly, unsure where to go from that point forward. He didn’t come here to explain his past identity, but he wanted to share the truth with Kyomei to win the man’s trust and, along with it, his help.
“A long time ago, I used to go as a different name. I was Mamuro Kasumi’Oji, and I once held your position in the Gotei 13. This office used to be mine, and I used to have access to all those books,” he said, gesturing to the bookshelves. “I was a lot stronger then too, but I was sick. The only way to save me was to wipe my memories and give me a new body. That new person was Himitsu Misute, and through coincidence or fate, I made my way right back to Seireitei.
“I came here because I need your help, Kyomei. I returned to Soul Society to do some good. I know who I am now, but I didn’t gain all my memories back as clearly as before. I lost some of the knowledge I once had about Kido, and I need some of it back if I’m going to get stronger. I need to relearn one technique in particular. Please, reteach me Kido Fusion.”

The Vice Captain walked in with a polite thank you and immediately began to scan the room. Was it something he was looking for or something familiar to him? Kyomei couldn't tell. Himitsu walked into the room and moved into the lone chair for guests in the office. The Kidou Corps Commander opted for just leaning against his desk as he followed into the room. It was more comfortable for him and since he was always on the move his chair had accumulated quite a bit of dust which would be uncomfortable to sit in.
As Kyomei listened to the Kasumi'oji's story, his face was calm and expressionless. But it did light up at points, like when he found out that Himitsu was here to see Kyomei instead of get to Sozen through him and again when Himitsu mentioned Kidou fusion. "I've never tried teaching anyone Kidou fusion before. I'm sure that you have what it takes, given you used to be in this office. I'd be happy to. We should go outside again, though. This office is not the best place to practice kidou of any kind."
The nostalgia trip wouldn't last long as Kyomei led them outside into the training range. "You're free to go home for the day, all. If you must work, then work in groups of three in the Wilderness." All of the Kidou Corps dispersed. They knew when their Commander wanted them gone to work in private. Though usually he was doing this alone or just going out into the Wilderness. This was something important, and the tall stranger was someone incredibly important to be getting such treatment.
"As most know, I have no Zanpakutou. This has allowed me to really understand the nature of Kidou and really break them down. Kidou is the essence of the Shinigami, the essence of a Plus really. First, I need to see that you still have the knowledge and skill that may had been lost when you entered this new body. Can you summon up a Hado and just hold it instead of casting it?" While Kyomei waited for Himitsu to do so, he also participated in the exercise by creating an orb of Shakkaho and just holding onto it before casting it.
"List everything you can think of about this Shakkaho and your kidou. Talk about their nature, the effect of them, as well as their forms."

Himitsu smiled gratefully at the current Kido Corps Captain. “Thank you, Kyomei. I really appreciate it.” He followed his superior through the familiar halls of the Kido Corps building, into the old training room. This room was just the same as it was a thousand years ago. It was timeless. The training room was one of the few constants that connected Himitsu to his past self. Learning Kido Fusion would accomplish the same thing, but for far more important reasons.
“You're free to go home for the day, all. If you must work, then work in groups of three in the Wilderness." Himitsu nodded in appreciation toward all of the other kido practitioners who were packing their belongings and emptying the room. While he seemed to direct the nod at the other soul reapers, the vast majority of that appreciation went toward Captain Kyomei. His acceptance of the entire situation was a sign that Himitsu had gained a small piece of his trust. He hoped to build that trust overtime, but for now, he was thankful for Kyomei’s understanding.
"As most know, I have no Zanpakutou. This has allowed me to really understand the nature of Kidou and really break them down. Kidou is the essence of the Shinigami, the essence of a Plus really. First, I need to see that you still have the knowledge and skill that may had been lost when you entered this new body. Can you summon up a Hado and just hold it instead of casting it?" The Vice Captain nodded, immediately selecting a simple spell without a second of thought. The decision seemed obvious. After all, Himitsu’s first zanpakuto manipulated lightning. It only felt right to start with a basic lightning spell.
The Lieutenant raised his hand in front of him, slowly gathering energy into his extended palm. Kyomei might notice something peculiar about Himitsu’s reiatsu. It felt pure, like crystal clear calmly flowing in a stream. The reiatsu was more angelic than human, exceeding a level of goodness that any average man could achieve. It was unique, and it gathered into a tiny ball the size of a marble at Himitsu’s palm. When the spell was released, the ball would shoot out as a bolt of lightning created by Hado #4: Byakurai, but for the time being, it was just a ball of brilliant white light.
"List everything you can think of about this Shakkaho and your kidou. Talk about their nature, the effect of them, as well as their forms." Himitsu nodded, compiling his thoughts together about each kido technique. The more he considered what each spell truly was, the more he realized that it had a character of its own. “Your Shakkaho is a condensed flame, but instead of burning out, it has explosive properties that form from its inherent instability. But my Byakurai is different. It is just as dense with electric energy, but the reiatsu within it is sharp and secure. It pierces, not just electrocutes, like a white blade. Shakkaho, on the other hand, is more like a grenade.”
Himitsu finished his explanation, looking up to Kyomei for more guidance. He could feel the hole in his memory right where the knowledge of kido fusion once existed. He knew what to do, but he forgot how to do it. Thankfully, he wasn’t alone. He had a kind instructor. Kyomei was there to guide Himitsu and reintroduce him to the skill he once had.
Post by Kyomei Kuchiki on Dec 9, 2016 0:56:14 GMT -5
Kyomei was slightly taken aback, for two reasons. The first was just how pure Himitsu's reiatsu appeared and felt. It was as if the good in him was tangible in the air itself. The second reason that the Kidou Corps Commander was taken aback was just how limited Himitsu's creativity had appeared to be. "If you want to master Kidou Fusion, you're going to need to break Kidou down to even more base components. Yes, Shakkaho is a fiery grenade. Yes, Byakurai is piercing lightning. But they are also so much more."
Kyomei held up his hand and the Byakurai that Himitsu was forming also was generated at the tip of the Kuchiki's finger. "I'll slow my fusion down as slow as I can to show you what I mean. With your description of Shakkaho and Byakurai, these are all the combinations that I can come up with." Kyomei placed his hands together and the spells just absorbed into each other, forming a spell that looked identical to a regular Shakkaho. It fired out towards a long range target and instead of exploding pierced the target and left a minor shock.
A second spell was generated, this one looking like a Byakurai. It went towards the target and exploded instead of piercing. "If that is your view of those two Kidou, then your fusions will be clunky and limited. To fully understand a spell, you must view it in deconstructed parts. Only when you do that will you be able to see where the similarities lie and fuse the two spells. Watch as I demonstrate the aspect of Form." Another orb generated in his hand. But this one wasn't red like a Shakkaho, it was white like a Byakurai. When it fired, it fired like a Shakkaho and exploded in white flames. He had pulled the Form of "White" from the Byakurai and implanted it into the Shakkaho.
"Can you imagine how much more you would help my cousin if you mixed Shakkaho's red body into all of your spells? Now watch as I demonstrate Effect."
Yet another spell was generated. At this point it was fairly obvious that Kyomei was burning in small bits of pain every time he generated a Kidou. He was starting to be a fraction slower and more hesitant. Anticipatory of the stabbing to the chest that he'd feel. The kidou that he fused was a white byakurai, but the electrical cackle was gone, replaced with the roar of flames. The spell was launched off, but pierced the target instead of exploding like it had done before. Kyomei had just pulled the effect of "Fire" from the Shakkaho and implanted it into the Byakurai.
"When I look at Byakurai, I see a White Electrical Long-reaching Beam that Pierces. When I look at Shakkaho, I see a Red Orb of Flames that Explodes. And I'm sure that they could be broken down even more. Now, summon up a Bakudo and tell me about it. They are more tricky than their destructive counter parts."

"If you want to master Kidou Fusion, you're going to need to break Kidou down to even more base components. Yes, Shakkaho is a fiery grenade. Yes, Byakurai is piercing lightning. But they are also so much more." Himitsu wasn’t doing a good enough job just yet. No, he could cast the spell and control it, but his understanding didn’t quite go deep enough.
"Can you imagine how much more you would help my cousin if you mixed Shakkaho's red body into all of your spells?." Oh, Kyomei had absolutely no idea. Himitsu, in a battle against the Vandenreich, had been surrounded by their officers. He summoned red smoke around him to limit the accuracy of the archers in a desperate attempt to save himself, but Sozen had summoned blades from that smoke to block the arrows and rescue the lieutenant. But Kyomei’s comment helped Himitsu considered how kido fusion might help him combo with his allies to strengthen their joint efforts.
The Lieutenant watched carefully as Kyomei fused Shakkaho and Byakurai together into an electric, piercing ball. So he fused the form of shakkaho with the effect of byakurai. Himitsu thought, noting the specific attributes of each technique that Kyomei brought out. "When I look at Byakurai, I see a White Electrical Long-reaching Beam that Pierces. When I look at Shakkaho, I see a Red Orb of Flames that Explodes. And I'm sure that they could be broken down even more.” Himitsu nodded, agreeing that Kyomei’s description was more wholesome and appropriate.
”Now, summon up a Bakudo and tell me about it. They are more tricky than their destructive counter parts." Perfect. They had moved onto the sect of kido that Himitsu preferred. With his opposition to killing, it was only natural that he relied most on bakudo. The Vice Captain gathered a ball of energy at his palm once more. This time, however, the light that it emitted was red, not white. When fired, Bakudo #9: Geki would shoot out like a thin laser.
“Geki is a red, long, thin beam of light that paralyzes.”
Post by Kyomei Kuchiki on Dec 14, 2016 11:26:53 GMT -5
"Good, good! While I prefer Rikujokoro or Gachan for their paralysis effects, Geki is nice and simple. Perfect! Now we can move into the more hands on training."
Kyomei thought for a moment on how best to move past the intellectual side of Kidou Fusion and into a more practical lesson. Of course, it had to start with the basics again. Mastery of Kidou, but also a mastery of analysis. "Ah, I've got it. We're going to get a workout, you and I, in spellcasting. I'm going to go over to the other end of the range and fling spells at you. I'll hold back, of course. I want you to analyze the incoming spell and match it with a kidou of equal power. Not greater, equal." Kyomei held up his hand as if to say "wait here" and proceeded to move to the other end of the range.
The exercise was simple. The Kuchiki would build up energy and cast off a low classed technique, like Byakurai, and Himitsu was expected to match it with either a hado or bakudo of the same class. For example, he could try to knock the Byakurai out of the sky with another byakurai, or use Seki to repulse it, etc. In the mind of the Kidou Corps Commander, the Vice Captain would receive extra bonus points if he correctly analyzed the incoming kidou and responded with the identical spell. So attacking a byakurai with a byakurai. This would highlight Himitsu's analysis skills and whether or not he still had the mental processing power to be able to break down Kidou physically rather than theoretically.
"When you're ready, we'll begin. For now, I'll start by only using the base Kidou rather than altering it at all. Maybe later we can try some purposefully tricky combinations."
Kyomei held up his hand and pointed at Himitsu. He'd start with one that would be utterly impossible to not know. After all, they had already seen and talked about this Hado previously. A red orb gathered in the outstretched palm. It crackled with heat as it grew and prepared to fire. However, Kyomei was not about to let Himitsu off easily. He wasn't going to always cast just one at a time. Before the mystery kidou fired, six beams of yellow light materialized out of thin air and headed to pierce the Vice Captain through the stomach. Only then was the red orb fired.
OOC: Obviously these two are a little easy to guess their identity, but I hope to challenge not just Himitsu but you too, ZK.
Post by Himitsu Kasumi'Oji on Dec 21, 2016 17:35:32 GMT -5
Kyomei seemed satisfied with Himitsu, deciding to move on to a new task. This one was certainly a step above, but the Lieutenant did not mind at all. It was still relatively straight-forward. He and Kyomei would have a little spell duel from each end of the firing range, and it was Himitsu’s task to counter the Kido Corps Commander’s attack. With Kyomei holding back on the strength of his spells, Himitsu felt that this challenge was within his ability.
The Kasumi’Oji was aware of Kyomei’s spell the very moment it formed in his hand. Shakkaho was very easy to recognize, especially after he had cast it himself. The Vice Captain responded to the hado by forming his own Shakkaho in his outstretched palm, ready to send it flying at Kyomei. However, to his surprise, he felt reiatsu gather around him as Kyomei’s reiatsu spiked once more. Himitsu’s energy sensory was sub-par, but he could also see a couple of the beams of light forming around him. Those were also easily identifiable as Bakudo #64: Rikujokoro. Two spells at once that targeted all sides of Himitsu were a little more complex than he anticipated.
But it wasn’t quite a challenge yet. Himitsu sent the Shakkaho flying prematurely toward his mentor. The moment he did so, he cast another spell, Hado #53: Surasorutoiera. A force more powerful than that conjured by Sho pushed out from all around Himitsu, negating the rods of light from Kyomei’s technique. However, it also shot Himitsu high up into the sky, but the Lieutenant could catch himself. Well, more accurately, he could summon an ally to catch him. As Himitsu descended, he channeled his life force to create an oversized ladybug, easily the size of a golden retriever.
I’ve got you, Himitsu.
Thanks, Volucris.
The red insect acted as a little seat for Himitsu as it slowed his descent, bringing him back to the ground where he could hop off. “Kyomei, this is Volucris. He’s a… companion of mine.” It would be up to Kyomei to pet the ladybug or even shake its hand, and if he did, the physical contact allow the insect to telepathically greet him with a jolly “Hello!” If not, Volucris didn’t mind. He would go watch from the side of the kido range until he was needed. After all, they were there for one reason: training. Volucris understood that priority and would not get in the way.
Post by Kyomei Kuchiki on Dec 23, 2016 0:17:56 GMT -5
Kyomei was impressed by the quick thinking of the Kasumi'Oji as he not only managed to match the Shakkaho with the exact same Kidou, but also managed to hit all six of the Rikujokoro's beams of light with one attack of equal class, Surasorutoiera. He even managed to safely counteract the drawback to the area thrust kidou and land on the ground with the help of a technique that the Kidou Corps Commander had never seen. A rather curious technique that summoned a dog sized ladybug. The most curious part of the technique was there was no buildup of reiatsu or release of it. But yet Volucris was there in the flesh.
Shaking the oversized ladybug's hand, the Kuchiki was greated with a telepathic hello. He was surprised, but kept his calm, responding in kind telepathically. "You'll have to teach me more about Volucris later, Himitsu. I must say, I'm intrigued by the pure white voice of this companion of yours and how he appeared with no reiatsu surge." One of Kyomei's flaws was coming into play. While he had learned to suppress his comments, when he was distracted they tended to surface. His commenting on the color of Volucris' voice was not a idle comment, it was a description of the bug's character and quality of tone of voice.
Due to a horribly scarring incident in the Wilderness, whenever someone talked or made noise, Kyomei physically witnessed those noises as visual stimuli. In particular, people's voices were represented as clouds of color coming out of their mouths. Volucris, who talked in Kyomei's mind, simply caused a haze of color to pass through the Kuchiki's vision. But the voice was a pure white, almost translucent color. It was pure, and untouched by accent or twang. It was... refreshing. With a nod, Kyomei appreciated the ladybug getting out of the way so that the training could commence.
"I'm going to try and trick you now. That's how you can improve. But I'll be kind enough to give you a hint. I want you to respond to the Form of the next kidou, ignoring the Effect."
A lot of energy began to swell up in Kyomei's hand. The feeling of a powerful sunburn began to form all across his body as he prepared a particularly powerful spell. That would also be a hint to the Kasumi'Oji. But Kyomei could be preparing a very powerful Effect and a small Form, and all he wanted the Vice Captain to analyze and counter was the Form, not the Effect. Once the charging was complete, Kyomei pushed his hand out as a huge cero-like jet of water burst out of his hand. The attack was huge, easily the size of a building, even with Kyomei holding back. While it was made up of water, it almost had the appearance of twin jets of flame...
Post by Himitsu Kasumi'Oji on Jan 2, 2017 19:07:39 GMT -5
Himitsu was pleased with Kyomei’s amiability. The Kuchiki kindly responded to the intelligent ladybug’s greeting. "You'll have to teach me more about Volucris later, Himitsu. I must say, I'm intrigued by the pure white voice of this companion of yours and how he appeared with no reiatsu surge." Kyomei’s keen observational skills were clear in that short dialogue, but one peculiar detail caught Himitsu’s attention most. What did it mean for Volucris to have a pure white voice, and why did it matter?
But now wasn’t the time for off-topic questions, as Kyomei pointed out. They would get to know each other more later, but for the time being, kido fusion would be the primary focus. "I'm going to try and trick you now. That's how you can improve. But I'll be kind enough to give you a hint. I want you to respond to the Form of the next kidou, ignoring the Effect." Now, things were getting a little more interesting. Himitsu’s smile, nodding in acknowledgement of the new development in the training.
Himitsu’s eyes never left his mentor. While his energy sensory first picked up on the influx in the Kido Corps Commander’s reiatsu, his eyes were his tools for identifying the techniques in question. As water burst forth from Kyomei’s palm, Himitsu instantly recognized one of the spells in question: Hado #40: Gouzen Demizu. However, while this spell utilized water as well, it’s form was very different. The clear fusion of two separate jets of water pointed toward a technique that Himitsu knew of, although he hadn’t bothered learning it. Hado #73: Soren Sokatsui. That was the only hado Himitsu could recall that had two separate parts. The smooth blend of the two spells made it difficult to be certain, but Himitsu believed that Kyomei combined Soren Sokatsui with Gouzen Demizu.
“Hado #63: Raikoho.” Himitsu thrust his fist forward as he spoke, a blast of lightning emerging from it. The spell was significantly larger than Himitsu himself, allowing it to protect the Lieutenant against any of the water that was heading his way, although the jets of water combined were larger than Raikoho. Normally, Raikoho would negate Gouzen Demizu, but Kyomei was specific in that Himitsu should respond to the form of his attack. Soren Sokatsui out-scaled an ordinary Raikoho, so Himitsu needed to strengthen his own spell.
Among the family techniques that Mamuro Kasumi’Oji developed centuries ago was Genesis Art: Augendae, which allowed the user to sacrifice life force to enhance the power behind their attacks. Himitsu increased Raikoho’s ability by one class so that it was equal to the strength of Soren Sokatsui. If all went as Himitsu anticipated, both spells would cancel each other out, leaving a puddle of water around them and some electrified water vapor floating in the air.
“Kyomei, did you combine the effect of Hado #40: Gouzen Demizu with the form of Hado #73: Soren Sokatsui?” the Liteuanant asked as the mist from the collision began to clear.
Post by Kyomei Kuchiki on Jan 17, 2017 22:29:18 GMT -5
Again, Himitsu used his family's arts to help him in this challenge. Raikoho shouldn't have had enough power to combat the Soren Sokkatsui, but it did, the two spells colliding and cancelling out. Again, there wasn't any detectable spiritual force that came from the technique or from Himitsu that allowed the technique to increase in power. It just suddenly increased mid-flight. "I did, yes. That result was... surprising, to say the least. Try this one, then?" He just had to come up with something mind boggling, something tricky. Something that would goad more of these curious Kasumi’Oji techniques to light.
After all, it was his job to catalogue and record all techniques…
”You’ll find this Destructo Disc packs a powerful punch! See if you can react to its Effect!”
A yellow disk appeared on Kyomei’s wrist, a simple technique without any fusion yet. Suddenly, as he added the Effect Kidou, it started to howl with the sound of thunder. The Commander gasped with pain as he did so. Using a Kuchiki Hana, Control Eater, he granted the disk movement with gestures. With a flick of his wrist, the Combination titled “Destructo Disc” flung into the ground which promptly turned into ash wherever the disc touched. Kyomei then flung it at Himitsu. If the Vice Captain didn’t have an appropriate response, Control Eater would allow the Kuchiki to stop the technique before it did any harm.
”This will be the last one. Then you’ll be ready to start attempting to dismantle techniques on your own. Breaking them down into their base parts will let you seamlessly merge them together.”
Post by Himitsu Kasumi'Oji on Feb 3, 2017 12:39:40 GMT -5
“That result was... surprising, to say the least. Try this one, then?" Himitsu smiled sheepishly. It’s true, he had been “cheating,” but cheating was okay for the purpose of competing with someone like Kyomei. Himitsu needed every advantage he could get just to match the Kido Corps Commander’s reduced power. Furthermore, Himitsu had not encountered anyone who possessed Kyomei’s creativity when using kido fusion. Even when he was Kido Corps Commander, he hadn’t truly taken advantage kido fusion’s capabilities as Kyomei does. Before he was even taught how to use the technique, Himitsu was learning quite a lot.
”You’ll find this Destructo Disc packs a powerful punch! See if you can react to its Effect!”Destructo disc, huh? Himitsu had an image of a large golden saucer forming at Kyomei’s hand before he threw it like a frisbie. The reality was similar at first, but instead of appearing over his palm, the yellow shield formed over his wrist. It looked identical to a normal Ensoken defense spell.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. The spell began to roar with thunder, and Kyomei himself released a painful cry. He had imbued the technique with some sort of very powerful lightning kido, and the strongest two Himitsu knew of were Hado #88: Hiryū Gekizoku Shinten Raihō and Hado #99: Kaminari Ha. The latter had far more severe drawbacks, however, and it was unlikely that this was the spell Kyomei chose, but it was still a possibility. Therefore, the lieutenant had to be ready.
Himitsu launched a standard Shakkaho projectile at Kyomei right as the captain began to control the disc with some sort of manipulation technique. If Kyomei fused Ensoken with Hado #88, the shield would cancel out the spell. If the saucer broke through the shield… well, Himitsu would fortunately be prepared. He was already on his toes, ready to use shunpo at any moment. His only option would be to dodge. Unblockable techniques are, after all, unblockable.
Depending on which outcome occurred, Himitsu would tell Kyomei, this time with more confidence, which two techniques had been merged: the form of Ensoken coupled with the effect of either Hado #88 or Hado #99. But for now, the preliminary trials were over. Himitsu eagerly awaited instruction on deconstructing and reassembling spells so that he may finally relearn kido fusion.

The Destructo disc smashed straight through the Kasumi'Oji's Shakkaho and kept going. Kyomei had to fling it out of the way of Himitsu and bury it in the ground before dismissing the technique. "Be careful, Himitsu! A kidou fusion can take the class of either the Form or the Effect, and I had specifically mentioned that the Effect, Hado #88: Hiryu Gekizoku Shinten Raiho, should be reacted to. Still, you reacted to the Form well enough. Let's move onto the next step, Deconstruction. A little disappointed in what had been a very very successful round of casting that now had been muddied by a simple mistake in hearing and responding, Kyomei moved into the next round of training.
Kidou Fusion was almost within Himitsu's grasp again.
"A skilled practitioner of Kidou should be able to nullify their own technique at any time, stopping an attack from continuing so that an unwitting passerby isn't caught in the crossfire. Demonstrate this for me, as slowly as you can. Hold a Shakkaho in your hand, again, and as slowly as you can possibly muster dismiss it into pure harmless spirit particles. Just let the technique dissolve and disappear. The Kidou Corps Commander did the same while Himitsu was practicing the first step of the kidou fusion deconstruction. The Kuchiki would hold up his hand and summon a Shakkaho orb, then slowly let it dissolve into nothingness. Harmlessly drift out of his hand with the breeze, spirit particles flying away like chaff.
"When you're done, we'll practice holding and dissolving two at the same time." He was moving the training along quickly because he had seen so much potential in Himitsu and it wasn't a new technique for the man, just a refresher course. First, Kyomei would hold up his right hand and summon a Shakkaho orb. Second, he'd hold up his left hand and summon an orb of Byakurai. He'd let them slowly drift apart again, flying away into nothingness. When he was done, he'd summon the two techniques again, but he'd sit down first. He was getting tired of feeling the stabbing pain in his chest and throughout his whole body as a result of practicing for so long now.
"And the last step of Kidou fusion is to merge the two techniques while they are semi-deconstructed. You'll easily learn to do this with one hand in an instant, as if you cast the two techniques as one. But for now, I'll have you physically push the two techniques together, like so." With the Shakkaho and Byakurai starting to drift apart, Kyomei physically pushed the techniques together and fused them into one electrical grenade. He let it fly off harmlessly towards a target and continued to sit, nursing his aching arms and rest of his body. "I'm afraid that's all of the actual demonstration that I'll be able to do, for now. Any questions?"
