The trapster had been oddly silent for some time now. There was no more taunting, nor was there even any commentary about the arrival of a Captain on the scene. This was certainly odd. Did his lack of interaction mean that he was concentrating that much harder, or had he simply grown bored with the whole affair? It was impossible for the Shinigami to know. Even without the Trapster’s voice taunting them, they were still all but forced to play his game. Should they venture back down the hallway where the crushers had been, they would eventually reach a door. This one opened easily, unlike the others. However, if the Shinigami chose to open one of the other two doors they had been presented with, they would find they all led to the same hallway.
Their plan of splitting up was impossible for the time being, unless of course they wanted to simply create a new path via force. That was always an option. They could just blow up any wall or ceiling they felt like and be on their way. If they all simply chose to continue down this latest hallway, they would find it was a rather boring one at first glance. There were torches lining the walls for illumination, and a white powder covered the ground, walls, and ceiling. At the floor, the coating was rather thick. It reached close to Kazuko’s waist, and it was around the thighs of the taller Shinigami.
A quick examination would reveal this powder was simply flour. There was absolutely nothing special about it. There was no trace of spiritual energy from it, and there was no harm if they touched it or ate it. It was nothing more than a simple annoyance. The chamber wasn’t tall enough that they could simply walk on top of the flour, so things like advanced air ground wouldn’t even let them stay clean. Again, there was always the option of simply blowing up a wall or something, but that wasn’t exactly stealthy. The only real purpose of the flour seemed to be to slow them down as they’d have to wade through it, but with men as strong and fast as Alexander and Zeich, they could probably just force their way through with a Shunpo if they needed to.
Of course this was the Trapster they were dealing with. Once either a single member reached the halfway point of this mile-long hallway or everyone had gotten at least somewhat inside, a familiar sound echoed down the hall. SHUNK! The door been obliterated by a wall slamming through the door frame. At the same time, the first half of the chamber’s floor gave way into a pit of water a few feet deep. The water and flour would instantly form into a binding paste, holding any weaker Shinigami down with hundreds and hundreds of pounds of dough. To make matters worse, a section of wall was slowly attempting to enclose them in this space. The end of the hallway was being sealed! They would have to either move fast or think faster to escape this sticky situation.
