It was a close one, but Kazuko managed to escape from Zu’um's final attack by a tiny margin. His energy sensory was enough to warn him that something was coming, but it was impossible for him to know what exactly was going to happen. Perhaps part of it was just dumb luck, or perhaps it was best attributed to the adrenaline flowing through his system. Regardless, he managed to get out of the way, and that was all that mattered. The follow-up trap was an easy enough one to deal with, though it did force the vice-captain to expend a decent bit of reiatsu. That much was all that was needed at this stage of things.
The rocks that fell outside of Kazuko’s blast range were somehow not a threat. Bizarrely enough, they simply stayed perfectly stacked up around the area the Shinigami had been in. From that situation, it was easy enough for the Shinigami to ascend all the way into the next room. Zeich, with his speed, didn’t even have to use any step techniques or advanced air ground. Upon entering that next room, the Shinigami saw that it was almost exactly the same size as the room they had just been in. It even had a part raised in the center so that it had enough rocks to fill the previous room’s pit. The main difference in this room was a singular exit.
This exit led to a hallway. This hallway led the Shinigami down a long and winding path. It seemed to last forever, but that’s simply because it was a boring hallway. The Shinigami were trained to expect a trap every few seconds by now, but none came. Eventually they reached a staircase. Still no traps. This staircase wound up, and up, and up. Still no traps. The hallway had seemed to last a great deal, but the staircase seemed to take longer still. The length between floors seemed random, and that was the only thing that might hold the Shinigami’s interest as they pressed on. Just when they thought it would never end, it did.
A single door greeted the Shinigami at the end of this staircase. It was an incredibly ornate door too. Woods so beautiful they shouldn’t exist in Hueco Mundo made up the bulk of it, and the handle appeared to be solid gold. A plate in the middle of the door also appeared to be solid gold. Embossed into that plate: 581. This was most likely an indicator of what floor they were on. Wait, floor 581 had been mentioned before, hadn’t it? If the Shinigami had good memories, they would recall the first thing that The Trapster had told them. ”Welcome, welcome, welcome! Please enjoy your stay in Las Noches. Refreshments are available on floor 581, and you only have to get past 138 deathtraps to get there! If you need anything, just ask! Teehee!”
The Shinigami detected no energy signatures coming from inside the room. Eventually, lacking any other real options, they would enter the room. The inside was rather small, but was lavishly furnished. Throw pillows of various colors covered the floor almost completely. The only gap was a small isle, leading to the table in the center of the room. On this table were five small glass bottles, each labeled differently. The first was Life. It was followed by Breath, Energy, and Power. Last, but not least, was Death. All the bottles were pitch black aside from the golden lettering of their labels. A small sign was propped up behind the bottles. It read: “Magic Potions: Only 40 Points Each!”
”If you want to leave, just buy a potion. Teehee!”
((You can buy as many as you have QP for, which is two each. They cost 40 QP.))
