Clouds rumbled in the sky and gathered again, as they had earlier. As thunder began to growl, it began to rain as well. The rain quickly started to create large puddles, making sneaking around more difficult. The sound of footsteps in large or deep puddles was very much audible even over the pitter patter of incessant downpour. The rain was heavy that night. It drenched the Shinigami. It would also drench the Quincy, who hopefully wouldn't even be on patrol because of the rain. The adventure of peril had only just begun, but still obstacles existed.
They reached the four way pathway immediately. If they stood in the center they would be able to see down all four pathways, but looking from around the corner would be more prudent of them. There was a specific pathway, the one to their immediate right, which would take them to another four way intersection, and would get them closer to their goal. There was also the one they were already on, which they could use to turn back around. The other two would take them into random directions, and there was no telling where they would end up. The one that took them to the next division of pathways would get them back on track toward their destination.
Unfortunately, that path was occupied. There was a single Quincy there, about forty meters down the pathway. He was standing with his back turned, and was tall. His hair was black, and was pressed down against his head. His clothing was soaking wet. He was on patrol, unfortunately for him, and was probably in a less than ideal mood. Sneaking up on him or sneaking past him would be difficult, since there was rain causing noise with every footstep. They could try the other two pathways, which for the moment were unguarded, however this would take them to random locations that circled too far around, and it would take a very long time to reach where they wanted to go. There wasn't even a guarantee that these could get them where they wanted to go.
