The Byakurai was enough so that the Quincy's bladed arm moved and was edged to miss Kyousei. The Byakurai however was sliced in half, and so neatly and cleanly that the two actual halves of the lightning bolt could be identified. Quincy A looked toward the source of the bolt, a child, a short Shinigami, a joke. Quincy A paid no mind to the Shinigami, despite that the short one had already released his Shikai. Instead, Quincy A used his speed to get out of immediate retaliation range of both Kyousei and Kubi. Quincy A could have attacked more, but time was up.
Suddenly, there were dozens everywhere. The Shinigami had all been stalled for too long. The flares had actually been fired off at least a minute ago, and several seconds had passed of Vollstandig. It was enough time that many Quincy had gathered at once. The fast ones arrived first, only six or seven to begin with. Then, slower Quincy began to arrive as the minutes ticked by. The first six or seven made it impossible for the Shinigami to move, because they had arrows notched and pointed at them from multiple directions. They would be shot and killed on the spot if they resisted.
Then, as more and more began to arrive, soon at least three dozen had surrounded them. With over thirty Quincy present and aiming arrows at the Shinigami, it looked like their mission had ended. There were many Quincy there. Far too many. If the Shinigami resisted, there could probably be hundreds of arrows killing them from every side all at once. It was possible if any of them had an area of effect attack or defense that they could block from all angles at once, but they would probably be overpowered in seconds. Maybe the first wave of attacks would even overpower them. Some of the arrows had to be top notch strength.
"Shinigami!" a voice called, though which Quincy spoke was uncertain. There were so many. "Surrender now, or be destroyed. If you lay down your arms, we will let you live. If you do not, you will be turned to less than ash. You have six seconds to decide. We will not count out loud. You will simply drop your weapons or die." That was it. Six seconds. Six seconds to make a decision. If they tried to communicate with each other, they would each only get out one word at a time. If any single one fought, they incriminated the others. Did they have that right? Could they take the others down with them because of pride? Was it right?
Suddenly, all of the members of the Vandenreich stopped. The light was blinding. The holy light of His Eminence peered down from the sky. He did not show himself. He did not need to. His light shone from the sky and down onto the Shinigami. His holy light touched upon them, and they were filled with a sense of something different. It was different from just another enemy of great power. He may have defeated the Captain Commander, but this did not make him special. Captain Commanders had been defeated before. He was different because of his presence. There was more to him than just power.
They felt something truly holy and beautiful as that light shone on them. The light was blinding, and all they could see was white. They could feel the beauty. They could not see it, hear it, or touch it. They could sense it welling up in their chests, making their hearts want to burst. They were insignificant. They knew they were insignificant. He was a God. He was the God. They were nothing, and he was everything. His cause was holy, righteous, and true. And they were nothing but poor, pathetic, stupid, weak little sinners. The Light of The Emperor was shining in the sky. And it empowered all of the Vandenreich.
All Shinigami who had been above ground, wandering through the Seireitei, suddenly felt their only worthlessness. Suddenly, they were touched by holy light. There had been a lot of escaped Shinigami still sneaking around above ground, and suddenly all of them were stopped in their tracks by the light. Suddenly, everything made sense. They were doomed. They had always been doomed. It was inevitable. There was no power, no force, no will in the universe that was greater than God. There was a God, and it was the Holy Emperor of The Vandenreich. Soon, the white which blinded them turned to black. Their consciousness was abolished.
When they awoke, they would be in cells. Kubi and Ryuunosuke had been separated from the group, but Kazuko and Kyousei were both in the same cell. Everyone had been stripped and changed into white robes instead of black. Their wrists were bound behind their backs by tough metal cuffs. If they tried to break them, the cuffs were simply too durable and sturdy. They also could not access their reiatsu, and their Zanpakuto were nowhere to be found. Two Quincy guards stood outside of each cell. They were captured. They were in a predicament. How many hours had passed? It could not be told.
Attention, adventurers! You got captured. As a result, the quest has changed! You have failed in your mission to rescue the Squad 4 medics, who are now dead, and their supplies are now destroyed. However, every soldier is essential, and you must surely wish to survive. You are now in charge of your own destiny. Here's how. Three new little mini missions.
Mission 1 - Find a way to get out of your prison cell, and sneak out of the Senzaikyu. Careful. It's heavily guarded, and you have no access to reiatsu right now. You also have no Zanpakuto. If you're careful and you play it smart, you should be alright. The hardest part is getting out of the cell. Sneaking out of the Senzaikyu is easier. Medium difficulty.
Mission 2 - Return to base. Sneak back. It's actually pretty close to the nearest manhole. Just find it, get into the tunnels, and find your way back to Shingai, your commanding officer. Easy difficulty.
Mission 3 - Same as original. Hold out. This is your last stand. Survive. Just try as long as you can to hold them off while you wait for backup. Hard difficulty.
