The floor was rumbling. And cold. And something (or someone) was barking. Kane would wake up to find himself chained to the wall of an armored van with handcuffs, which appeared to be rigged to fit below their normal size limit to fit his small wrists. Technically in a different seat but spilling into his personal space was a large dog-like person. He howled "Look, you're going to have to let me out of here before my master comes after me! He doesn't put up with people kidnapping his students!" as he rattled his chains.
This directive seemed to be aimed at what appeared to be two soldiers, one with a staff and one with a gun. They wore masks over their faces, but the tone of one's voice would reveal that they weren't particularly concerned or impressed by the Dog Man's threat. "That's enough," the one with the gun said forcefully, and the other hit the Dog Person in the head with his staff, causing him to slump over. He would nearly crush Kane if Kane didn't move out of the way, but both of their positions would be somewhat fixed due to being chained to the wall.
The chain that connected to Kane's handcuffs ran all along the wall, connecting him to the Dog Man on one side and to a wirey, old-looking man on the other. "Hey kid," the old man said at barely a whisper, without moving his lips. "If you want to get out of here, listen to me. They're taking us to a place where they do experiments on unusual people. People like us. They've been taking them from my village for months, and none of them come back. We're going to have to get out of here, but not like Dog Boy over there. We'll wait a bit, then I'll need a distraction. Are you in?" The guards gave no indication that they had heard the old man.
The only other person in the compartment was a small girl with long brown braids who sat in the corner of the van next to the old man, plucking at an imaginary bow with limited range of motion, also caused by the chains. She mumbled "Mmhm. Nice dogs. These people are all here, too. Everything is fine, except for everything that is not. Mmhm. Yes, everything is." with a vacant look, as if she was watching out a window. It didn't appear that she would be much help if it came down to having a fight. Suddenly, she leaned forward and looked Kane in the eyes intensely. "Everything is fine, except for everything that is not."
If Kane checked, he'd find his iPod in his cloak as usual. He would not, however, be able to reach it presently due to the restraints.

The rumbling of the armored van woke Kane up, as did the barking of the humanoid dog. It had been some time since the rogue had seen another that looked even similarly to him (as is, not a human or spirit), so the birdman was intrigued by the dogman. This dog man spoke of a master whom he was the student to which was similarly interesting. But the rogue didn't have time to really interpret anything being said as the masked guard hit the prisoner over the head with his staff and knocked him out cold in the one blow. All bark and no bite, apparently.
The dog man slumped over unconscious and Kane did his best to move out of the way but wouldn't have a lot of room to do so. He'd probably be pressed into the wall, his iPod pushing against his flesh in its pocket. Good, they hadn't taken that from him, whoever these people were that were moving him wherever they felt like. How had he even gotten here? He couldn't remember anything out of the ordinary, but that wasn't too unusual for an amnesiac like him. He took a moment to look around though at his surroundings. A pair of guards: one with a melee weapon, the other a ranged weapon, and both wearing masks. A pair of prisoners not hit in the head with a staff: one an old man, the other a young girl. And the pair of prisoners who were less than human: Kane himself and the dogman. Not much else to really speak of.
The old man in the chains across the van whispered to Kane about a plan for an escape using a diversion. Kane's ears were slightly tuned higher than an average human, so hearing this plan without the guards noticing was possible and helpful for their survival. The young girl was intense and odd, leaving Kane more confused than anything about what she meant. So he ignored her for now. As for the distraction... that would be easy enough. Kane waited a little while like the old man said, and then proceeded with his plan. One of the guards had threatened the dog man in Kane's earshot, so that guard could easily be copied for those two threatening words.
"That's enough!"
Hiding his face behind the dog man, Kane exclaimed loud enough to be heard but not quite shouting. With the guards both wearing masks, it would be possible that the one who had not yet spoken to think he was being spoken to by the other guard. Kane hoped that using the first guard's voice loudly would cause a fight between the guards or at least enough distraction for the old man to be able to enact whatever plan he had in mind... If the guards started really heated arguing or even fighting between each other, Kane would contort his leg with the acrobatics he had picked up, stretching his knee to his chest and trying to push the iPod out of its pocket into his waiting open beak.

"What's enough? Nothing is even happening. Why can't you just keep quiet and let me do my job?" the guard with the staff snapped in a feminine voice. So it seemed that she was the one in charge. "Look, just because you're my sister doesn't mean you get to always tell me what to do," the other said defensively. "No, I tell you what to do because I outrank you. I don't know where you got this complex, but you're going to need to get over it." "Or you'll do what? Fire me?" "Maybe I should!" Before this argument could go any further, the old man opened his mouth and blew what looked like a little bullet made of steam at the male guard's head. He yelped out and collapsed to the ground, swearing. The female guard bent down to check on him, banged on the front of the cabin, and yelled to the driver "Hey! We're going to need some backup here!"
The old man shot a longer blast of steam from his mouth to the portion of the chain between his handcuffs, then, using a leather-gloved hand, broke one link. He unthreaded the tail of the chain from each of his handcuffs, allowing the others, also connected to the chain, to do the same. Just as one of the girl's hands was loosened, the guard on the ground pointed his gun at the old man. Without fully inclining her head towards him, she made a motion with her hand, seemingly causing the gun to fly upward and become lodged in the ceiling of the van.
The pigtailed girl next approached the still-slumped over Dog Man. "Come on, now. Everything that is fine is fine. Time to get up now." She waved her hands in a swirling pattern and he seemed to immediately regain consciousness. While this was going on, Kane managed to catch his iPod as planned. No one seemed to notice, though; the van had devolved into chaos. "This is for the Mendlessohn clan!" the Dog Man hollered as he head-butted the guard who was still mobile. "Dog Boy, you keep her occupied. The one on the floor is out; don't worry about him. Kid, help me out with whatever's out there," the old man said, indicating Kane.
"Nothing here is quite right," the girl said calmly. "Except everything else." The van came to a stop, and two more sets of feet approached.

Kane was free of the chains as the old man broke them with steamy spit. He rubbed at his bony wrists and pulled the iPod out of his beak and held it fondly, cradled it even. The inside of the van was pure chaos as the guards were occupied and/or on the ground disarmed. The man who had freed the Rogue instructed him to help out with whatever was approaching from the driver's side of the vehicle, and there was a tingling in Kane's shoulder as he thought of how to help. A hunger from the parasite embedded in it. A thirst for battle that could only be quenched by pouring spiritual energy into it. Kane had never felt like this before, but took a quick moment to focus his energies. He had practiced moving reiatsu around with the Hollow fight that Shiho had helped him with, but last time the Kidou blew up in his face.
This time was different, though. He needed no incantation to channel the energies, he needed nothing but his own power. Sweeping the cloak he always wore aside, he revealed the squirming black parasite with the giant purple eye embedded in his shoulder. Channeling his reiatsu into it, the Bakkoto slurped up the energy like a cat with a bowl of milk. The iPod that Kane had always carried absorbed into his hand and purple tentacles burst from the Rogue's shoulder to flow up the side of his neck and cover his beak with a mass of flesh. Opening the new purple beak, a forked tongue with an equally purple eye could be seen. Kane felt elated by the rush of power and let out a whooping cry. This cry of joy also let out a baseball sized blast of sonic energy that would hit the back of the van with force equal to Kane's physical strength, above average for a human but nothing particularly special.
Now that he was released, he was ready to fight whatever came into the van.

Dog Man engaged the guard, but she wasn't going to give up easily. She swung high with her staff, aiming to clock him in the head, but he ducked out of the way. The guard, not having hit her target as expected, was off-balance, allowing Dog Man to hit her with a right hook, and she hit the ground, yelling for backup. Dog Man met her on the ground, covering her mouth, but he seemed hesitant to use so much force to actually kill her. He looked questioningly to the girl, who gracefully crouched down next to him.
The girl bent down and made a motion like she was flicking the guard, but her middle finger moved down the distal part of her thumb towards the palm instead of the other way. A small bolt of energy shot from her hand, and the guard stopped yelling and fully slumped to the ground, but remained breathing. With that handled, the girl refocused on Dog Man and flicked him in a similar way, but without a visible bolt of energy this time. His arm stopped gushing, and the girl cocked her head and calmly stated ”Now, I don’t think I caught your name.” ”Freddie,” he answered, seeming somewhat in awe. Apparently he had never seen her use her powers before. ”Clara,” she responded, taking time to stick out her hand to shake his.
Meanwhile, the old man didn't even flinch on seeing the parasite on Kane's shoulder. He must have seen someone like Kane before. Even when Kane's shoulder erupted into a purple tentacle and Kane let out a blast of energy, the old man stayed focused on what was ahead. The van came to an abrupt stop, and a helmeted guard with a toolbelt of items and boxy-faced man approached them. ”They told me you lot might be a problem,” the boxy-faced man said, shaking his head, ”But I’ve got a schedule to keep.” The man wore no armor and wielded no weapons. He was about five-foot-ten and built with somewhat narrow shoulders, and wore a smart, well-tailored suit. He wasn’t particularly physically intimidating, but carried himself with an air of confidence. Kane wouldn't notice it, but a very faint, light gray mist came from his mouth as he spoke.
The man turned to Kane. ”Kane, they told me you’d be reasonable. Won’t you help me get these people rounded up so we can get back on the road? I know you’ve just come-to, but as you can see, these criminals are dangerous. Can you help me get everything back under control?” Kane would inexplicably feel himself warm up, filling with a sense of calm and peace as he inhaled the mist. ”I know I can count on you, Kane.” But how did he know that? And how did he even know Kane’s name? The old man shot a bullet of steam right at the suited man’s chest, and the guard with the tool belt reached over with a paddle-like staff and seemingly effortlessly swatted the steam bullet away, but it left a singe mark on the staff. Kane didn’t know, or at least didn’t remember, any of these people. But he can’t help but feel a sense of foggy calm creep over his mind, like there was no need to fight. If Kane is suspicious of the man, he may be able to resist the suggestion, even though he will still feel groggy.

Kane barely noticed the confrontation between the guard, Freddie, and Clara as his unintentional blast of sonic force had broken open the van door though he did hear Freddie and Clara introduce themselves to each other. The movement of the vehicle stopped causing the bird man to stumble but he remained upright. Heading for freedom out the back, the rest of the passengers not mattering as much, Kane was stopped by two more obstacles to his freedom. A helmeted guard with a toolbox and a well dressed and slim man. The guard with the helmet repelled an attack from the old man with some sort of weapon, but the latter didn't seem unscathed by the defense of the suited man. The suited man, speaking of the devil, had begun to utter silvered, poisoned words with a faint mist lacing his verbal and mental suggestions. Kane was caught off guard by this figure knowing his name and trying to convince the Rogue that he needed to work to recapture the other passengers. The passengers who were equal to Kane in how they'd been treated.
Why would Kane take the side of those who had chained him and taken him away from... wherever it had been he'd most recently dwelt. Feeling the strange, warm calmness try to suppress his emotions but having a cognitive dissonance in the emotion of calm but the suspicion of the situation, Kane hesitated for sure but tried to push through the lack of emotions. He had been so energized by the release of his Bakkoto, so hyped up on the adrenaline of the spiritual power that this unnatural calm could only be bad. He struggled against the calm, trying to seem guarded and threatening. Seamlessly a sentence of five voices came from his beak. Two different young and masculine voices, a distinctly feminine voice, and the voice of the old man as well as the suited man's own voice. "Not okay. Not reasonable. Dangerous is Kane Coo. Be afraid. Very afraid."
Overcome by the dissonant emotions in his mind, all Kane felt like doing was screaming. Opening the purple fleshy beak over his face that was the form of his Bakkoto, he let out an emotionally charged and extended scream. As he screamed a sonic disk formed in the air in front of his face, shielding him from any more incoming vapors. It wasn't particularly large, but he realized quickly that for as long as he held this scream/tone he could keep up the shield.
