Physical Description:
Doll Form:
Hoshi’s initial point is pretty unimpressive. In truth, he’s not even sure how exactly he got the doll he wears. Ultimately it doesn’t matter, regardless of how he got it, Hoshi uses a “living” cactus doll of some kind. He’s not sure where it came from but it's about as unimpressive as it can get in his mind. Per a typical doll there’s nothing harmful or dangerous about it. No spikes, in fact the closest he’s got is 3 “strands” of black hair? He has no hands or feet to speak of and is limited to ovular arms and legs. These stretch out for 3 inches each with the main torso taking up a solid 6 inches. Last but not least his ovular head is 3 inches tall as well. It's only defining features showing its head are two black circles with an oval that acts as a mouth. The only other noteworthy thing to mention about this form is that the overall color of it is bright green. Likely the only part of it that is truly representative of an actual cactus.
Gigai Form:
So, his gigai body that Hoshi will eventually receive is something he specifically asked for. And something that, in his mind, is far from superior that doll he had to deal with. First and foremost, it’s a male body. No if, ands, or buts about it. He wanted to be a man and thus here is his body for it. However, it’s not perfect, namely that the body is fairly lithe, not really defined much in musculature. Hell in truth he looks more akin to a standard 18-year-old that didn’t work out. Healthy in figure but nothing to write home about. However, it’s the extra details that Xcution was willing to apply to it, that make this body actually worth writing home about. First and foremost is the amount of hair this body’s got. It has enough to trail down to the middle of his back. And yes, the hair is in fact soft. Don’t ask Hoshi how, he’s yet to figure that one out. With its light gray color, it can be mistaken for white in bright lighting. Meanwhile in dark lighting it looks more akin to solid gray or even steel gray as though it was heavily dyed.
One surprising feature that Hoshi actually requested about the body is that it doesn’t have two arms. It has part of its left arm, stopped halfway to the elbow from the shoulder, and the right arm is complete. Also, strangely enough the arm looks sunburnt constantly at the hand and this “burn” travels up to his elbow. The gigai itself isn’t actually burned but yet again Hoshi just wanted to make himself look a bit “unique” comparatively. Interesting enough however while the hands are normal, he’s managed to somehow paint his fingernails black. The same goes for his toenails which are also painted black. Also, it should be noted that his legs follow the same coloration as his right arm. It has the appearance of a permanently bad sunburn from the knee down. Looking back to the main body the man’s skin tone is white. Like, never went outside, white. Perhaps that’s how he explains away the bad sunburns. Only Hoshi knows why he wanted to be that blatantly bright white.
Moving back to his head this is where we can take a bit more details in. First and foremost, the man has black sclera with orange iris. There is however an outer and an inner ring to these iris’s that is yellow. Thus, making the burnt orange look surprisingly “bright”. His nose is nothing to write home about, it’s there and straight. However, his teeth are yet again . . . different somewhat. He chose to have larger than average canines so that he can have the top of his teeth go past his lips. Effectively the man wanted small “fangs”. The man actually has multiple sets of “canines” though the other two sets are much more normal in size. Moving onto the last couple noteworthy points of this man’s face is that he has thin lips with the bottom being more akin to his skin color than red or pink. The last detail are his eyebrows which are thin and look surprisingly well trimmed. They are the same color as his hair.
Giga Form:
This is Hoshi's pinnacle and preferred form. With everything you could ever want from an anime character. He’s got it all. The black sclera, the drastically different eye color, the impossible skin color, hell he’s even got a ripped male protag body. Oh, and let's not forget the horns, the claws for nails, sharpened teeth, and even the overly long hair that by any and all means SHOULD be a detriment to him. Do not tempt the man to find some sort of cosplay armor because he’s likely to wear it thinking he looks incredible in it and then wear it all over the place.
Let’s start with the basics, the man is now over 6 feet tall, nearing almost 7 because and you guessed it. He wanted to be taller than most other individuals. His skin tone is gray and looks effectively like ash. As mentioned, the man has the body of an Adonis because and I quote “It looks cool”. Oh, and don’t worry, he’s got the deep rough voice to go along with the body. Because, why not? Thankfully though this body has both its arms, and the gray color scheme doesn’t get any darker or change. However, the nails instead of needing to be painted black. . . are just black by proxy. This includes his toenails. However, that doesn’t mean that each aren’t basically just claws given they are somehow about 4inches long, sharpened, and have tips at the end.
Moving to the man's head let’s start with the obvious. He has even more hair now. It does all the way down to his waist. Now however instead of light gray it's just straight white. He has a couple bangs that go down the sides of his face, effectively shielding his ears. But there’s something else that parts them. He has crystalized reiatsu horns. These use his own reiatsu to glow and there are “veins” within that specifically light up. These come out from his hairline and are purple in color. The veins are bright purple, while the crystal is dark purple. His eyebrows now are black as opposed to white and his eyes still have the sclera. But instead of being orange they are now dark dull yellow. Oh, and if it makes it any better, he still has the large canines in his mouth. With the additional sets of canines mind you. But his flesh, as can be seen from his mouth, is black. The gums are black as is his tongue. Only his teeth remain a normal color, I.E. White.
Moving to the torso and limbs let’s just point out the interesting objects to note. He has little. . . growths of reiatsu crystal on his body. A semicircle of crystal over his waistline, connected at his lower back. His left arm, which was previously non-existent sans a numb, has a thin layer of crystal over its underside. Somehow it is able to move easily without breaking. His sternum as well as his spine has a small line of crystal that rests over it. The edges of it look like webbing that has dug into his body and yet, just as with his arm, this crystal section moves around with ease. No cracks forming unless struck directly. Oh, but let’s not forget, this crystallization also forms small, sharpened edges on his elbows and over his knees. Finally, just something to note given its not easily seen. His flesh as well as his blood is both black. Because reasons relating to; Hoshi wants to be a cool anime character. Blah blah blah. Nothing you didn’t get from his physique of choice.

-Personality-
Dislikes:
1. Shinigami
There’s not a whole lot of explanation needed for this. Hoshi was one of the last Mod Souls produced by the Soul Society. Making him one of the first that were attempted to be shut down. And they were nearly successful. Hoshi may not have been able to “see” who was the individual responsible for trying to shut him down but that doesn’t mean he thinks the shinigami are off the hook as whole. No, he despises that they decided to kill them all, especially himself. The organization as a whole agreed to it. Thus, the entire organization is at fault.
2. Hiding
Let’s just be frank. Hoshi does not and will never enjoy hiding. Doesn’t matter if it's himself or another who has to hide. He despises it. He believes fights are supposed to be person to person. He may not like those who fight at range but at least they are fighting him “eye to eye”. Those who hit and run around hiding to get their attacks off drive him insane. For the criminal sin of it being cowardly but more importantly BORING.
3. Darkness
Laugh it up but when you can’t see anything or know what's going on around you, everyone gets scared. And for good reason! If you can’t see anything, you don't know what’s going on around. And when you don’t know what’s going on around then anything can happen. And “anything” is a lot on the table. It doesn’t help that Hoshi is a bit of a pessimist in that regard so his form of “anything” is everything bad that can happen.
4. His programming
Effectively it's another way of saying himself. He doesn’t like that someone made him. That someone designed him in such a way to be who he is. He wants to be himself, not what someone else intended him to be. But that’s not possible, he can’t just reprogram himself and be the same. He’d be someone else. And it unsettles him because then is it really “him” now or someone else?
5. Being in a doll
Let’s be blunt. He hates that he’s not strong enough to control a gigai. To be in some . . . small. . .weak. . . cotton filled THING just bothers him. Drives him up a fucking wall. How is he expected to do anything as a doll? Let alone have people take him seriously. It’s fucked up and yet it's because during the process of being “shut down” he was brought to his lowest in terms of power and capabilities. Hence why he’s stuck in a doll body. Not to mention the doll he’s got for a body is . . . infuriating. A fucking cactus. A “sentient” cactus. If he had things his way, he’d have gone for a creepy or “soulless” looking doll. Namely for how they affect others. . his current one just makes people laugh at him.
6. Scientists
He’s been a test subject once. Never again if he can help it. He won’t deny that science can do a lot. Hell, it made him. But it’s how much power they gain that concerns him. Let alone how “intimately” they can study something. Makes him feel violated. Reminds him of his time in Soul Society. Reminds him of how everything around him and about him was controlled and manipulated. They aren’t people he wants to be around. He’ll never feel comfortable with them. Thus, the research division of Xcution is a place he only goes as specifically ordered.
7. Not having a task at hand
Hoshi likes having something to do. Something to focus on. Something that needs to be done. If he has nothing to do for an extended period of time, he goes a little stir crazy. He doesn’t know what to do to fill in the time between tasks or assignments from Xcution. He can handle a night or two for a weekend, but the man basically doesn’t take time off because he just. . . wouldn’t know what to do with it.
8. Illusions
It’s like hiding but worse. You take things people know and twist them. Take memories, create situations, basically act like your god over someone. And then you break them. Typically, mentally which is just chicken shit in his mind. But even fighting someone becomes impossible because you can’t discern what's real and what isn’t when there’s an illusionist around. And it’s not like they fight you face to face; they hide behind their illusions. It’s fucking sickening.
Likes:
1. Fighting
There is a good degree of this that is from his programming. And as much as he doesn’t like that, he can’t deny he enjoys a good fight. It’s truthfully all-encompassing when you get into it. The world around you doesn’t matter. The issues you had are far in the past. The only thing that is important, that is necessary to keep track of is how you can connect your next attack with the enemy. Feel something about them physically breaking. Feel yourself get broken and yet still get up and keep going. The pain, the exhaustion, the heat of the moment, and the adrenaline is like a drug from how good it is. How consuming it becomes.
2. Working
Hoshi likes feeling as though he’s doing something. It can be unimportant, or it can be something major for Xcution. Hell, he’s taken on part time jobs just so he can fill his time with something to do. Hoshi doesn’t like to be idle; he wants to feel like every day he’s done something. Accomplished something. He has preferences for sure, namely doing missions given to him by Xcution but at the end of the day if all he did was clean the Xcution building? Well at least he made sure the building looked its best for whoever came to see it. There’s something to show for his efforts.
3. Xcution
In truth he actually owes them. Somehow, since he’s not entirely sure what happened, they managed to get his pill. And they managed to “bring him back”. They attempted to explain it to him at some point and time, but he didn’t get it. It wasn’t how he was made to be. But what he got was the gist of things that happened. And how they saved him. Now he works for them effectively out of gratitude and the promise that they will make him a body that he can actually use once he’s strong enough. More than reasonable goals for him with the cost being that he works for them for a time. Something he’s more than happy to do.
4. Fire
Yes, you guessed it. The man is something of a pyromaniac. He likes to see things burn. He likes to use fire. And given his power? He likes to BE fire. It makes him feel strong. Makes him feel uncontrollable and unable to be ignored. Because what happens when you let fire do its own thing? It consumes everything around it. Burns it away. Indiscriminately. Perhaps this is also part of his programming. He can’t say for certain it's not but whatever the case, he loves using fire and watching things be lit on fire.
5. Scars
They tell a story. Good or bad. But it's a permanent reminder of something that happened to an individual. Sure, sometimes the scarring is gnarly, and it can extend to crippling even. But it doesn’t lose any of the “coolness” factor to Hoshi. In truth the more scarring someone has, the more he’s likely to respect someone. Namely because it’s a physical show of someone having done a lot. Or more specifically they’ve done a lot of fighting. Which is also good because that means he can have a fun fight. No matter the reason, it's a win in his book. He hopes that his gigai can have a lot of scars on it as he goes on in life.
6. Weapons
Surprise surprise, the man that likes fighting likes weapons. Now just because he LIKES them doesn’t mean he’ll use them. But it doesn’t stop him from appreciating a good weapon. If a weapon is well made or does something interesting, he’s absolutely going to want to look it over and learn about it. Hell, even though he hates Shinigami, he loves the idea of a zanpakuto. It just makes him curious how they do what they do. Like shifting into something completely different and somehow gaining mystical powers. It’s just cool and something that would be fun to try out once or twice.
7. Shonen anime
He has. . . something of an obsession with them. The overly dramatic fights. The ideas for powers. The dumb shit that happens in them? All up his alley. They surprisingly keep his attention hooked despite a lot of them being the same gimmick over and over again. But that’s fine because if he has nothing else to do, he can enjoy Shonen's for a time. He will openly admit however he’s typically on the side of the antagonist more so than the protagonist. Mainly because they usually have more interesting powers or weapons. Doesn’t mean he isn’t fond of the main characters though just that. . . he’s got preferences.
8. Being flamboyant
To be blunt, he just likes being seen. It’s why he doesn’t mind wearing odd clothes or walking around in costumes. Hell, he doesn’t mind dying his hair or wearing contacts to make his eyes look different. He’d even invest in tattoo’s and show them off as he walks around if he really wanted. And the reason is simple. He wants to be known as him. Be himself. . . whatever that means. He’s actually not certain this is part of the programming as a weapon doesn’t need to be flashy to be effective, but he certainly likes being flashy to others so he’s going to be regardless of how much it bites him in the ass.
Flaws:
1. Short sighted
Hoshi can only really think long term in a fight. And by long term he means. . . a few attacks or possible moves ahead. Otherwise, he’s pretty narrow in his view of things. If it benefits him now, he’ll go for it. Regardless of the consequences. In truth he may not even think to consider consequences depending on how “good” an opportunity is. This can be used against him if someone can convince him about a situation or “opportunity”.
2. Walking collateral damage
He does not care what he has to do, to get a job done. When he’s on the job if he wants to guarantee a kill, he’ll consider dropping a building if able. Casualties of others do not bother him. Unless they are fellow Xcution members. In which case he’ll try to keep them from being the victims of his actions. But everyone else, including himself? Yea you better believe he doesn’t give a damn.
3. Identity crisis
Hoshi deals with one thing constantly. His sense of self. Is he only what was programmed into the pill or is he more? Where does HE begin and end? He’s not smart enough to understand how much of him is programmed nor to even consider that he could outgrow the initial programming. If anything, he believes himself to be permanently stunted because whatever he is completely dictated by what someone else made him to be. Thus “he” doesn’t exist and all that exists is coding. He tries to ignore it, but some days are easier than others with this.
4. Nihilistic view of himself
While he may be a cheerful lad, he ultimately has come to terms that nothing he does matters. And it’s partially because he doesn’t really exist in his mind. He’s simply a semi-sentient tool. Tools are not in control of themselves and thus cannot do anything. And they simply continue to operate until they break. At that point it's up to the user, in this case Xcution, to decide if he’s worth fixing to keep around or if he should be thrown away. Ultimately, in his mind this leaves his fate entirely in Shizuka’s hands. Or whoever she defers that responsibility to. This also impacts his decision making as nothing he does matters. So, any and all individuals he hurts, or kills won’t matter. Couldn’t matter because he’s not real enough to even be punished for it.
5. Unknowledgeable of the spiritual world
He was made to kill hollows. Almost exclusively. Obviously, his combat abilities can be used against any race, but his original purpose was to go kill hollows and try to assist shinigami. While he never actually got that bit of programming downloaded into his core his actual knowledge of things around him is minimal. He only learned humans can be spiritually potent because of Xcutions leader. He doesn’t realize Quincy exists, he doesn’t know that Hollows can evolve into Arrancar, and he certainly has no conception of Hell’s races. He only really knows about Bount, Shinigami, Hollows, Fullbringers, and obviously Mod Souls. The latter only because he is one.
Habits:
1. Be noticeable
He will always dye his hair or pick clothing that has bright as hell colors. He wants to be seen. Wants to be known. Thus, the best way to do this is by constantly being aggressive in his color choices. The man goes the whole nine yards with it too. Going so far as to use colored contacts. Though in truth his eyes are noticeable enough on their own. But if he REALLY wants to get into it, he’ll find a makeup artist and have himself be made even more noticeable by aggressive use of makeup.
2. Burns small things
This is mainly by using a small lighter he’s got and burning cigarettes. Sometimes cigars. But his favorite is just ripping pages from a notebook he has on his person and burning it page by page. And then at the end, he takes the cover and back, rips out the metal spring, and burns that too. It’s calming and makes him feel like he’s got something alive under his control. Given he can control how long a fire burns and what materials it is allowed to burn.
3. Notetaker
This is mostly a work-related habit. As Hoshi wants to ensure he doesn’t forget anything important to a mission or task, he inevitably needs to write things down. He doesn’t however rewrite everything given or said to him but mostly bullet points big picture things to keep in mind. I.E. What place to go. Times. Topics of conversations. Etc. If he thinks, it's important to a task at hand, he’ll jot it down and then look it over later during the task to make sure he didn’t forget.
4. Memento Collector
Similar to why he takes notes, Hoshi likes to remember important or impactful things that happen with him. So, he takes things to remind him of it. Depending on the situation, what he takes changes. For example, he may want to take the pen he used to sign for a promotion in Xcution. Or if he beats a strong person, he may take a personal effect of theirs. Like a bracelet or some other accessory. Things of that nature.
5. Steals Catchphrases
This can be from people he works with to characters he sees in Tv shows or movies. Hell, if you can get the man to read a book and he finds a phrase he likes enough he’ll steal it unapologetically. And heaven forbid he ever meets someone that uses puns. He’ll use those against others SIMPLY to make them groan in agony at him.
Fears:
1. Turning into a machine
By that he means losing the ability to think completely. Right now, he can think and decide how to handle situations. Sometimes he chooses right and sometimes he chooses wrong. But he ultimately gets to decide, and it makes him feel somewhat sentient or in control of himself despite being artificial. If he loses that ability to think and attempt to be more than just his programming, then he’s effectively dead.
2. Not repaying his debt to Xcution / Shizuka
In his mind he owes Shizuka and Xcution as a whole a debt. He needs to repay them for taking the time to bring him back from, effectively, death. And that’s not an easy goal to achieve which is why he worries he’s not done enough or is never doing enough. It says a lot about a person to not repay a life debt. And that’s not something he wants to be known for.
3. Dying to a Shinigami / Scientist
It’s fair to say he has paranoia with scientists and shinigami. He was born by a scientist. Literally molded by them. And thus, he can be readily destroyed by them. Shinigami are his creators and also his race's destroyers. The fact that a shinigami can be a scientist terrifies him more than the individual job and race. But because of his past and the past of Mod Souls as a whole, he is highly concerned that he’ll be found out and killed outright by shinigami or experimented upon until his death by some kind of scientist.
Goals:
1. Become Human
Specifically, he wants to gain his complete autonomy. He wants there to not be any case of “programming” left in him. Because of his identity crisis he is actively looking to find a way to be anything but a machine. Sentient or otherwise. He wants to be like everyone else and have a soul so that he can be “him”. With no one able to just rewrite who he is if they are smart enough.
2. Repay his life debt to Xcution / Shizuka
It’s hard to know how to repay a life debt. He hasn’t decided or been told exactly what it entails. But he knows there’s no way someone like Shizuka would need him to save her because she’s too strong for that. Thus, he has to make it up to her by helping the organization somehow. But he’ll figure that out in time. He just needs to keep doing his best for them.
3. Get acknowledged by every organization as strong
At his core Hoshi is a living weapon. And regardless of if it's a part of his programming or if he personally decided on this, he wants to be known. And specifically, as someone worth being concerned over and planned around. Otherwise, what kind of weapon is he if no one is willing to be concerned about his presence?
Alignment:
True Neutral(?) / Chaotic Neutral (?)
Overall Personality:
When looking at Hoshi on the surface level he appears to be a fairly upbeat individual. Feeling comfortable talking with strangers in and out of work. Hard working as he will use his free time to do part time jobs or construction work while still doing tasks from Xcution, his main job. Hell, he even seems rather concerned for those around him as he actively ensures that harm doesn’t happen to random passersby when going to or from somewhere. All in all, he seems like an upstanding gent, if not only a bit out of the norm for his fashion attire. And the fact is that some of these surface traits are actually genuine traits of his but not for the selfless reasons others may come to think. All in all, Hoshi is trying to keep up a facade so that he can work with those around him. He wants to try and figure himself out and define the line where he and his programming separate because ultimately that is what drives him to do most of his decisions.
This brings us to the more internal workings of Hoshi. Hoshi has effectively two sides. How he is when a task, typically a more morally gray task, is given to him and how he is mentally. When it comes to a task, Hoshi blocks out most other distractions and quandaries. If he needs something or he needs to do something to get a task done, he’s going to do it. With a hyper precision bordering on fixation, he tackles a task at hand. Typically, this is most seen when he’s fighting as he will actively try to think ahead and predict actions ahead of time. However, when it comes to a more mundane event like “Complete this paperwork” or “Go fix “x” thing” he’s usually only going to think a bit ahead. As far as “Do I need “x” materials? Is this a multi person task? Do I need guidance on how to do this?” And thus, he can come off as almost robotic in a way. Doing things by the book as closely as possible. That’s not to say he doesn’t have a mind of his own if something isn’t going as intended but. . . it’s for everyone and everything’s wellbeing if it does go by the book. Namely because Hoshi is not the brightest bulb in the box. He’ll figure out something but. . . it may not be what is best.
As for his more internal workings Hoshi is sort of in a perpetual state of frustration. Knowing that he’s a weapon and has been programmed to be a tool more than an individual. The only reason he was given “semi-sentience” was to ensure he could adapt to opponents properly and still get the job done at the end of the day. Not so that he could develop himself into a fully sentient entity with emotions and concerns. It doesn’t help that Hoshi can’t really be certain if who “he” is, has changed based on events around him or if he’s always been this way and will continue to be due to his manufactured nature. It’s incredibly frustrating and it's not something he easily is able to push by so instead he throws himself into his work and tries to be as flamboyant as possible. Because when he’s doing either it feels, to him, like he’s less an artificial being and more a “real” person. Even if at the end of the day, he knows he’s not “real”. The flamboyant streak namely comes from the idea that it’s ridiculous to have a weapon be flamboyant. A bomb’s a bomb and being pretty doesn’t matter when it blows up at the end of the day. The same is sorta true for Hoshi given his powers but if he’s intended to be more “hidden” or not as noteworthy then being the opposite would be going against the programming, right?
As far as doing extra work is concerned? It focuses his mind on a task at hand. Which helps as he doesn’t feel worried or concern because he’s got something to do. It’s especially helpful when it's physical in nature and has a mental aspect. Hence why he likes construction because it even brings up a social aspect. Work with “x” person to do “x” task. Go find tools to accomplish the task. Then actually spend time working on the task. If something happens, determine a solution and return to the task. And so on. It’s just a lot for the mind to focus on and it ultimately drowns out concerns or otherwise near constant worries his mind doesn’t feel like letting go. So, what if the man’s not working? What then? Truth is, it’s very rare that he’s not working because he puts himself constantly into other tasks. However, in the rare case he’s not? He’s usually left alone with his thoughts. Typically, on what he can do so he doesn’t fall into his mind. This has him actively roam around Karakura and occasionally other places, assuming Xcution sends him to a different city for one reason or another.
Last but not least is his interpersonal interactions. The truth is that Hoshi puts people into 3 categories. Enemy, Ally, Other. If you’re an enemy, he may or may not respect you but that doesn’t change much of how he interacts. He’ll still be brash. Talk shit occasionally. And ultimately delve into letting his need to be a useful weapon take over. If you’re an ally he actively attempts to help out an individual. Regardless of whatever the tasking is. He’s. . . unironically uncertain how to talk to someone outside of a work interaction but he’ll try, nevertheless. Though he does become noticeably quiet during out of work scenarios. As for the Other status, which is the majority of individuals he’s pretty neutral. He doesn’t really wish harm on them but isn’t exactly going to stop himself or others if he’s fighting. Nor is he terribly concerned if something happens and he’s not fighting. He’ll give an attempt to prevent it but only if it's easily within his power. Anything that actually takes effort on his part isn’t really something he’s willing to do. The exception being when he’s at a part time job. But they are sort of blended into the “Ally” segment.

-Powers-
Fighting Style:
Hoshi’s fighting style is boiled down to getting up close and beating up someone. This is mainly due to the fact that his powers alone don't typically give him ranged options to deal with individuals. Later levels have some means of fighting at a range but not a lot. Ultimately his biggest “range” ability are the zones of intense heat he creates by proxy of being a sun. So, with that said let’s focus on his preferred fighting style assuming everything went right for him. Up close and personal. Hoshi wants a slugfest. He wants to throw punches with reckless abandon and get hit at the same time. Namely, he wants an endurance test. However, Hoshi is more than willing to take objects from the environment and use them to his advantage. In fact, he likes using random shit to fight with. His preference being a piece of steel rebar. He absolutely loves them for having a solid weight to them and the reach they have from even segmented pieces. Typically, he prefers them to be anywhere from 2-3 feet long. Make no mistake though, he doesn’t actively know how to fight with them through proper training, he simply makes do with what he has and the situation at the moment.
This also plays very well into what his powers want to do. They want to incinerate things, namely due to the fact that he makes himself into a sun of some variety. Thus, he projects an aura of heat as well as becoming immensely hot himself. And if someone keeps close, he can just keep racking up the burns they’ll receive. Whether from an object he superheated or simply from heating up the environment. He will just continue to apply burns until eventually the individual cannot keep up with him and his immense output of heat. At higher levels this just gets worse because it means depending on his final form (I.E., stages 3-1) he can apply a variety of different effects that ultimately hinder his foes further. Including making it harder for them to get away from him. In his mind, it's just more fun for him to keep someone close to him and wail away at them while also taking hits.
Moving to intermediate ranges he sort of deals with these alright. Namely if he needs to make it hard for his opponents to reach him while still doing some kind of damage to them. That’s namely where his aura’s come in. His goal is to effectively heat burn someone with the possibility of making their means of seeing him or otherwise attacking him difficult. This is just due to his later stages having high luminosity. Though let’s not forget his solar flares he can fire out. With the means of messing with an individual's use of their reiastu it's a potent effect. But again, this isn’t really the type of fight he likes. Nor is he well suited to it. He has ways of making this workable but ultimately, he still wants to get as close as he can to the individual in question and actually drag them to his immediate vicinity. If he is kept here however, he’s likely to rely on non-release techs that do one of the already mentioned goals. A. Get him up close to someone. Or B. allow him to fire back attacks on his enemy. Typically preferring to use explosive attacks or otherwise big, dramatic, and area damaging abilities.
And finally, we have long range combat. Let’s be blunt, this is his hard counter. If someone can keep him away and at a pretty good distance to boot, he’s got a whole lot of nothing. His longest ranging attack is when he shifts from a Giant star to one of his last stages. But that’s it. Otherwise, he doesn’t have a lot to work with in that regard. His non-release techs may have something to help him out in that department but even still. . . he’s kinda boned in that regard. And heaven forbid the individual just wants to play hide and seek at long range Hoshi is more than likely to destroy the environment around him if not outright leave. He can’t stand that kind of fight because it's ultimately not fun for him. Not to mention what’s the point if he’s going to see the individual in question who is attempting to kill him?
Moving onto Hoshi himself, let's be clear about one thing. Hoshi in his day-to-day life isn’t exactly the sharpest pencil. But that’s because in his mind, he’s made to fight people. Thus, he shows a lot more intelligence and cunning than may be expected at first glance. He’s also far more aggressive and unconcerned about the world around him than one might think. If he needs to use people to get an advantage or if he needs to use the terrain to get one over on his enemies, he’ll do it in a heartbeat. The man is about as ruthless as one can get but that’s assuming he’s enjoying the fight. If he’s not he becomes very direct as he only intends to get the kill and be done with something. Fighting is all good until someone hides from him or uses illusions. Both of which, he fucking despises. He’s very much of the approach that you come face to face with an individual or you don’t fight them at all. Getting an initial attack off is all fine and dandy but the fight is boring if you can’t see or interact with your opponent. So, his goal is to never be put in a situation where that’s the case. Though this is namely in his training and what items he purchases prior to a fight.
Another point to mention is team fighting. Unironically he actually doesn’t mind team fighting. He’s just not. . . inherently built for it. His powers are an AoE at their core. But if someone can maintain themselves while within his abilities, he’ll do what he can to make sure they last. No point in having an ally if they can’t do their job. But that also implies that those he works with are individuals who can keep up with him or exceed his abilities. So, he’s a bit selective in that regard. Either way if someone is working with them, his goal is to set up situations that allow his partner to shine. Or vice versa work with his partner to set up situations where he can shine. It all depends on the individual(s) he’s working with. However, he does not like to take up a leadership role normally. He prefers being told the goals or the plan as opposed to making one. Thus, he’ll follow another's lead until they fuck up so badly that he needs to step in.
Technique: Astral Emissary
Levels:
Level 1: Brown Dwarf
Form:
Upon activating this level, the user’s body changes into a humanoid skeleton with approximately the same size and shape of an average human. (5ft, 5in) However the skeletal form is a bit different than the standard human, in color and temperature. This is due to the body becoming reminiscent of a Brown Dwarf, the state of failed stars. Thus, the form is a deep brown-red color with the occasional spark being produced inside the eye sockets, chest cavity, tibia and fibula, and lastly the radius and ulna. The sparks however get drawn back within the bones of the body which are akin to swirling hot collections of gasses.
This brings us to the actual benefits of this form. The big thing to take note of is that all physical attacks are enhanced by the body’s increased heat generation. This means that for every hit on an individual they will start to suffer burns on their body if the number of attacks is numerous or if the contact is prolonged. For a first degree burn to occur the victim must be hit 3 times on a limb or have the limb in contact with the user for an entire post. However, this is not the only thing that can be heated up. Objects that remain in contact with the user grow in heat and become a glowing red in 3 posts naturally or a single post if the user spends 50 reiatsu. An object heated to such a degree retains its form for 3 posts before melting, assuming it has no class. For the duration of it being solid however it gains the means to inflict burns for every 2 instances of contact. Items that have a class are the exception to the 3-post duration of a red-hot item this is due to them having durability. Thus, for every post that the item is turned red hot they take damage equal to the RS of the user. Item clash still follows per the site standards so if an item is strong enough to withstand the heat, then it will not take durability damage while retaining the heat generated by the user.
There is one other point to make note of for these bodies. With the original form torn asunder to create the body the user's most vulnerable point becomes both easily seen as well as the only place to give lasting damage. And that would be the pill, which hides within the chest cavity but glows brighter than the remainder of the skeleton. As for the skeletal body itself, each limb has a durability count equal to the user's RS. These limbs are only reformed when the user refreshes this level. This cannot be done until the duration is used. Should the user's head be destroyed the user is considered blind and deafened. When a leg is lost the speed of the user is cut in half. If both are lost, step techniques cannot be used. Techniques that require a limb cannot be used if the user has no appropriate limb due to them being destroyed. The body uses the user’s RS as its strength stat, but all other stats remain the same. This does not allow the skeletal body to create shockwaves naturally if the stat is 600 or above. This doesn't prevent the use of techniques that produce shockwaves.
This form lasts for 3 posts and costs 200 reiatsu to use. Refreshing can only be done upon the duration being ended. Lastly if the user cannot pay the cost, the skeletal form fades away with only the pill remaining. The body from prior is not regained. To ignore the heat generated at this level an individual needs only a 1 in Heat Tolerance. If the user has HSR, each portion of the skeletal body can be regenerated in their following post. When regenerated in this way the body part regains its full durability. This also includes durability damage done to the user's skeletal body that did not destroy the body part in question.
Level 2: Red Dwarf
Form:
Upon activation of this level the user undergoes a similar process the Brown Dwarf stage, the user’s body collapses and reforms the matter into a Red Dwarf star. This is shown most prominently around the body which from here on will be referred to as the “core”. This is due to an AoE field being generated around the skeletal body (core). The field itself looks akin to a Red Dwarf star’s surface with a deep red color and swirling and jumping plasma along with the occasional sunspots. While the temperature around the AoE increases there is no need for any points in Heat Tolerance to deal with it. However, inside the AoE the temperature is sweltering and requires a 1 in Heat Tolerance to survive without getting any burns at all. If this is not met the user needs a superior OS to ignore it. Otherwise, every two posts all individuals will suffer a burn across the body. That burn will grow in severity for every additional 2 posts an individual remains in this AoE. This AoE is 10 feet in radius, 20 feet in diameter, and is spherical in shape. While the AoE shines a dull red glow it is not bright enough to blind individuals and clearly shows everything within it. However, the inside has a deep red hue to it.
Meanwhile the core, the user of this level, is even hotter. All on contact hits will now cause burns after two hits so long as an individual has no points in heat tolerance. If the user has 1 point in Heat Tolerance the user requires 4 points of contact or a post of prolonged contact to cause a first-degree burn. If the victim has 2 points in Heat Tolerance, they will be immune to on contact burns. This extends to the means to make an item or object red hot. The duration to make an item red hot is now 2 posts unless 50 reiatsu is paid to make the object in hand red hot immediately. This can, however, extend to objects in the area so long as the user is in physical contact with it. This superheating extends outward into a 5-foot cube. This lasts for 2 posts outside of the AoE but while within the AoE the superheated area remains active. There is no set limit to how many of these can be active at one time. If an individual, that isn’t the user, steps into these areas they will suffer burns on any body part in contact with the area equal to coming in contact with the core.
This form lasts for 3 posts and costs 200 reiatsu to use. Refreshing can only be done upon the duration being ended. The skeletal body has 1.2x the user’s RS in durability. Lastly if the user cannot pay the cost, the skeletal form fades away with only the pill remaining. The body from prior is not regained. If the user has HSR, each portion of the skeletal body can be regenerated in their following post. When regenerated in this way the body regains its full durability. This also includes durability damage done to the user's skeletal body that did not destroy the body part in question.
Level 3: Main Sequence Star
Form:
At this stage is where things get interesting. The user becomes akin to the Sun both in form and color. The AoE that is representative of the Sun is now 40 feet in diameter, 20-foot radius. It retains its spherical shape but now glows bright yellow orange. It even comes with small bursts of plasma that shoot out the surface of the AoE only to return to the surface again. However, these bursts do not cause harm and are simply representative of how the Sun functions. What however takes place is that there is now an additional field of heat generated by the Sun AoE. As the Sun heats objects around it, outside its atmosphere, so too does this affect the world. Prior to now, an individual outside the AoE experienced increased heat but didn’t have to worry about it, now they will have to be careful of an additional 20 feet from the AoE. This area has enough heat within it that an individual will need a 1 in Heat Tolerance or superior OS to avoid being burned. If neither of these are present, every two posts the victim remains within this extended area they suffer a first-degree burn. This then grows in severity every 2 posts after.
For those within the AoE of the star's body the heat increases and now requires a 2 in Heat Tolerance to ignore or 1.1x the user’s OS to ignore. If an individual has a 1 in Heat tolerance, they will be able to last for 3 posts without suffering a burn and will start at first degree burn. For those without the requisite OS or skill points the victim will gain full body burns every 2 posts but will start at second degree burns. Meanwhile for the core if an individual has no points in Heat Tolerance, they will suffer second degree burns on contact. If they have a single point in Heat tolerance, they gain a first degree burn every 2 instances of contact. If they have a 2 in Heat Tolerance, they are immune to the heat generated. Superior OS can also give immunity but requires 1.25x the user's OS to do so. Having superiority but not 1.25x has an individual act as though they have a single point in Heat Tolerance.
Weapons/items that are super-heated now take only a post or 50 reiatsu. However, unlike previous forms the weapon is now heated to a yellow-orange and will give second degree burns on contact so long as the victim has no points in Heat Tolerance. While those with a 1 will suffer first degree burns every 2 hits and a 2 in Heat Tolerance will suffer no burns. As for the superheated matter that isn’t an item, this can now extend to 10-foot cube. If double the cost is paid, the matter in question can instead melt away into a puddle or be burnt to ash. As before the puddle will remain superheated for 2 posts if external to the star AoE. In addition to this however the user gains another power. The means to produce Solar Flares. These cost 100 reiatsu per flare produced and are akin to shockwaves in that they bypass armor but unlike shockwaves they do not induce harm to an individual. Instead, they supercharge and ionize an individual's internal reiatsu if they are hit. This causes all reiatsu costs to be increased by 10% per instance of contact, up to 20%. These solar flares can be produced by the core or the Sun AoE and are 5 feet in width, 3 feet in height, and 2 feet in depth. These travel 60 feet before dissipating. This reiatsu ionization lasts for 2 posts but is refreshed for every Solar Flare that hits an opponent.
Last but not least the limbs in this form now have a durability of 1.4x the users RS. To use this form costs 300 reiatsu and lasts for 4 posts.
Level 4: Giant
Form:
Here we get to the stars near the end of their lives. The giants of the universe. These stars are massive and bright as can be. Thus, the same thing occurs for the user and their AoE. The main body of the AoE, the star represented, is now 40 feet in diameter, while its extended AoE for what it heats in the world around it is 30 feet in length. As before however the heat in this extended zone while definitely intense can be ignored if one has superior OS to the user or has a 1 in Heat Tolerance. If an individual does not meet these requirements, they will suffer a first degree burn across the front of their body every 2 posts. Upon entering the Star AoE this requirement increases to a 2 in Heat Tolerance or a 1.2x the user’s OS to ignore. If these are not met the individual will suffer a first degree burn across their entire body. However, if they have a 1 in Heat Tolerance or superior OS but not equal to 1.2x the user’s OS, they will only suffer burns across the front side of their body. These burns occur / grow in severity every 2 posts. Meanwhile for interacting with the core, the user needs a 3 in Heat Tolerance to interact with them or an OS of 1.3x the user’s OS to avoid being burned. For the core specifically, if the individual has 1 -1.14x they act as though they’ve got a single point in Heat Tolerance. While for anything 1.15x - 1.29x the individual acts as though they’ve got a two in Heat Tolerance. For those with a 1 in Heat Tolerance they will start with a second degree burn after coming into contact with the core twice. From there every additional point of contact increases the severity of the burn on the point of contact. If they’ve a 2 in Heat Tolerance, they will gain a first degree burn on their second interaction with the core and then every two subsequent points of contact will increase the burn's severity.
As for the other abilities of the previous level, the Solar Flares, while not cheaper, can now be stacked to 30% in addition the duration is increased to 3 posts. The superheated material can be created for 25 reiatsu while still remaining a 10-foot cube. Double if the user wants to melt or incinerate something on the spot. Meanwhile it costs nothing now to superheat a weapon or item that is being held. It also follows the interaction for coming in contact with the core. Lastly the damage dealt to items is now 75% of the user’s RS and items without a durability stat now last for 4 posts. Lastly if the user pays 75 reiatsu they can immediately sacrifice their item and melt it. Allowing for the melted substance to coat opponents. If this is done the item takes a durability strike if the thread is DP/NDE. If the thread is DE, then the item is destroyed permenantly.
While the initial description of this power has been about how things from the previous levels are changed, we now come to a point where the power at this level gains new abilities. The first is a static and passive effect, the Sun AoE, having become a giant type of star, is now incredibly bright. Bright enough that without something to dampen the light produced that an individual can either find their sight being reduced or at worst becoming completely blind. Obviously, those who are already blind will find this to be a non-issue but to those with sight this quickly becomes a problem. A 2 in Battle Focus or Focused Eye will allow an individual to see through the star AoE without any issues. This also includes those with a 200 in Senses. Those who have only one in either Battle Focus or Focused Eye will find the light hard to see through but can manage to a degree. They can make out objects that are within 10 feet of them but any further is difficult to determine. Superior OS does not aid in this, only senses or the requisite skills.
Moving from the passive light ability we now go to the active ability gained. The user can produce sunspots. These are areas on the sun that are naturally cooler due to gravitational forces that are present on that section of the star. Because of these gravitational forces things are naturally drawn to them. Thus, any ranged attacks or ranged abilities that attempt to pass into or through the AoE are now drawn to the Sunspot. The gravitational pull is equal to the user's RS and should an attack be successfully drawn to the sunspot it will be broken down. This spot lasts for up to 3 posts and costs 150 reiatsu to start and 75 reiatsu per post to maintain. This can be as large as a 5-foot cube and while within this cube the brightness as well as the heat is reduced causing all clashes to require one less in Heat Tolerance, Battle Focus, or Focused Eye. This also reduces the OS needed to prevent being burned by 20%. I.E. At this level to not be burnt in the Star AoE, the individual needs 1.2x the user’s OS. If they are inside a Sunspot, they need only equal or higher OS to ignore being burnt. Or a 1 in Heat Tolerance as opposed to a 2 normally required.
Last but not least the limbs in this form now have a durability of 1.6x the users RS. To use this form costs 300 reiatsu and lasts for 4 posts.
Level 5: White Dwarf
Form:
So, we’ve reached the top 3. This is where the start of every stage is about the same. To start, these stages cannot be used unless the user was in the Giant stage (level 4) prior. At least a single post must be spent in the former stage. However, for every stage that the user remains in the Giant stage, prior to becoming a white dwarf, there are benefits. These benefits are described later on. With the requisites for entering this stage mentioned let's move on to the initial effects of going into this stage. Upon activating this stage, the individual collapses, the AoE star and its extended AoE. These become non-existent for a moment before the user explodes in a supernova. This blast’s OS depends on how long the user was in the Giant stage prior. For 1 post, the OS is equal to 50% per post. Thus, the maximum OS of the attack is 2x the users OS assuming all 4 posts are used in the prior level. This blast extends out 50 feet for every post the user was in the Giant stage. This caps at 200 feet at maximum and moves at a speed equal to the user's RS.
After the supernova is completed however far the blast reaches is how far out a nebula reaches. Nebulae are gasses and dust clouds that form after a supernova occurs. And given the supernova responsible was recent the gasses and dust remain are incredibly hot. Thus, if an individual, aside from the user, doesn’t have a 3 in Heat Tolerance, they will receive burns from this gas and dust. If an individual has none, they will suffer a burn every post, starting with second degree burns and increasing in severity every post. If the individual has a 1 in Heat Tolerance, they will be immune for a post before receiving a burn every post thereafter. For a 2 in Heat Tolerance, they will not receive a burn until after two posts and will then gain a burn only every two posts after their first burn. This nebula cloud lasts until the user refreshes this stage. Upon refreshing the stage, this supernova effect does not occur if the individual was a Dwarf Star prior. These gasses and dust can be blown away but require an OS equal to 1.25x the user's OS in wind-based abilities or effects that produce winds such as shockwaves. The gasses however cannot be destroyed, only moved around.
Moving on from the initial effects of activating this stage there are several differences to note. First and foremost is that the user has a single short range AoE. This expands out to 15 feet and for all those within this range they will suffer a first degree burn every post unless they have 1.5x the users OS or a 3 in Heat Tolerance. For those with a 2 in Heat Tolerance or 1.25x - 1.49x the users OS they will suffer a burn every other post. Starting at first degree and growing in severity from there. For those with a 1 Heat Tolerance or superior OS to 1.24x OS they will start suffering a burn on the second post of being within this AoE but will start at a second degree burn and increase from there every other post. In addition to this, the user generates a bright white-blue light. This light is so bright that without a 3 in Focused Eye, Battle Focus, or 300 in Senses the user and a 20-foot radius around them is impossible to differentiate. Those with points in Focused Eye or Battle Focus can reduce this overall size by 5 feet per rank. Those with lower senses however will only find themselves overwhelmed and unable to persevere through the light for long periods of time. Should anyone look directly at the user for 4 consecutive posts they will be partially blinded. And if they continue to look directly at the user for 8 posts, they will become completely blind. This is not permanent unless the thread is DE.
In this stage the user loses the ability to use solar flares and sunspots. Instead, they gain the means to superheat all objects that are in contact with them. These spots of superheated objects are also white-hot and can aid in inducing blindness if an individual looks directly at them. These cost 50 reiatsu per 10-foot cube produced and last for 3 posts. For an additional 50 reiatsu an additional 10-foot cubes can be created adjacent to the initial cube. There is no limit to how many can be created at once aside from reiatsu spent. Should an individual come in contact with them, they will be subject to a clash similar to coming into the AoE. All items and objects held by the user immediately superheat and follow the same means of instigating burns as the AoE. Items and objects that are being held by the user can be melted when the user desires for free. Items that are melted away take a strike against their durability in DP/NDE threads. For DE threads the item is destroyed entirely. These cubes can also be melted if double the reiatsu is used while still applying the same effects. Items that are superheated take 75% of the users OS as damage after following standard item clash.
At this stage items/weapons/summons/spiritual creations/etc. can also be superheated. To do so requires physical contact with said object or summon and requires the user to have equal or higher OS. When an opponents object or creation is superheated in this way they take durability damage equal to the OS of the user. This lasts for 2 posts and uses the class of this level (class 3) for class clashing. This costs 200 reiatsu per instance of overheating. RPC's cannot be superheated however dolls, for example, and other summons can be superheated. Superheated summons either take durability damage if they have a durability or suffer burns akin to being in the heat aura. However, the real issue comes from if an individual comes into contact with the user. If an individual comes into physical contact with the user, they will suffer burns if they don’t have a 4 in Heat Tolerance. If they have a 3 in Heat Tolerance, they will suffer a first degree burn on their second point of contact and the burns will grow every other instance of contact. For a 2 in Heat Tolerance the individual will suffer a second degree burn on initial contact and will have this increase in severity every other point of contact. A 1 in Heat Tolerance will have a second degree burn on initial contact and will increase in severity on every instance of contact. No points in Heat Tolerance will cause a 3rd degree burn on the first instance of contact and increase in severity for every instance of contact.
This can be nullified or mitigated by having higher OS as well. If an individual has 1.75x the user’s OS they will be immune. If they have over 1.5x but not 1.75x they act as though they have a 3 in heat tolerance. If they have 1.25x-1.5x they will act as though they have a 2 in Heat tolerance. If they have superiority up to 1.25x they will act as though they have a 1 in Heat tolerance.
Last but not least is the durability of the body. Given that a white dwarf is nothing but superheated metals this gives the skeletal body an incredible durability. This durability for every limb is equal to 2.25x the user's RS. To use this form costs 400 reiatsu and lasts for 4 posts.
Level 6: Neutron Star
Form:
As stated with the White Dwarf stage, the Neutron star stage can only be used so long as the user has been in the Giant stage for a single post. More posts are beneficial, but the only requisite amount is one. The benefits for this stage are similar to the effects of the prior stage. The more posts that the user was in the Giant stage the stronger the supernova will be as well as the larger it will be. However, unlike the former stage where an extremely hot nebula was formed, this stage has something arguably worse occur. This stage coats the explosive area in a layer of intense contamination. I.E., substances that will radioactively break down and emit large quantities of radiation. The size of this blast is the same as the prior stage, where for every post within the Giant stage, the range increases by 50 feet. This caps out at 200 feet if all four posts were used. The offensive power of this attack is much the same where every post in the Giant stage adds .5 of the users OS to the blast. Thus, at one stage the blast is only at half the users OS. While if all 4 posts are used the blast is 2x the users OS. The actually terrifying bit about this blast however is the contamination.
As Neutron stars are known for giving off intense gamma rays and x-rays, they highly irradiate anything around them. So too does this supernova blast that occurs at the birth of the user's neutron star state. While physically the area may not show signs of radiation to the spiritually aware, those with 300 ES or higher, it will be immediately noticeable that there is too much energy radiating off the terrain. If an enemy is caught within the blast, they too are coated in contamination from head to toe. For every post an individual is within the contaminated zone or is covered in contamination they will gain a large dose of radiation. While not immediately problematic this is definitely a long-term issue. As with the more doses one accrues the more prominent effects that begin to show. The following list describes the effects that will take place depending on the dosage received.
Dosage List:
1. No signs. No discomfort. This is merely the beginning.
2. Minimal if any signs show. Typically, this will be a light redness or very light discoloration of the skin. (Or whatever equivalent an individual has.) To really take notice of this, the victim must actually take a moment to glance at their bodies. Specifically, the affected areas. Otherwise, the individual will not recognize a difference. Even at this dosage there is no hindrance to the body.
3. The redness is growing on an individual, it's not noticeable enough that one doesn’t have to actively look for it. One can simply see the difference from healthy skin to affected skin. (Or equivalents thereof) At this stage this is where symptoms begin to appear. Though they are minor to be sure. The main symptom here is a noticeable amount of fatigue and some aches throughout the affected area. An individual will begin to feel mildly nauseous but can through some mental effort refrain from succumbing.
4. This is the stage the aforementioned symptoms progress to being not only more distracting but more aggravating. The entire affected area is now a deep red. The capillaries are breaking making the user feel light pain throughout that area. Pain Tolerance is only required to ignore it so long as the individual has at least a single limb entirely red. In which case a 1 is necessary. If multiple limbs are affected, then a 2 is required to overcome the pain. SoW can be substituted for this. This also induces more blood loss from skin wounds that are already present or that are created from hereon. The fatigue is becoming more noticeable as the body feels “sluggish” without any mechanical impacts to it. The nausea is far more potent however and the individual will likely vomit if they do not have a SoW/Damage Recovery/Battle Focus of 2 or greater.
5. At this stage is where the symptoms start to become far more noticeable. The skin is starting to blister making movement with that limb far more painful. At this point a 2 in Pain Tolerance or SoW is needed to ignore the pain. Assuming a single limb is at this stage. However, for multiple limbs the requirement goes to 3 for either. Bleeding continues to worsen through the wounds and now even wounds to muscles bleed more. This is due to veins and blood vessels weakening / breaking. The victims will notice their ability to resist vomiting is reduced as their gastrointestinal system is getting ravaged by the radiation. This radiation however is starting to spread to the other internal organs meanwhile the gastrointestinal system is beginning to suffer light internal bleeding.
6. From here on out these stages are nothing but suffering made manifest for the victim. To start the individual is starting to swell slightly due to broken capillaries and veins within the muscles and skin. The skin shows signs of deep crimson and/or light purple. The gastrointestinal system is suffering from internal bleeding and intense nausea. Regardless of if an individual has had only radiation accrue on a single limb at this stage the radiation has spread throughout the body enough to impact it. This causes the body as a whole to start being in immense pain as movement, including breathing is as though a series of small knives are making shallow cuts throughout. To endure a 3 in SoW or Pain tolerance is needed. A combination of both is also accepted if they total 4. Fatigue is strong causing an individual to get tired out from even simple attacks. If a type has stamina drawbacks, at this stage the individual will spend 1.5 posts for every post they fight. This is also the final stage HSR can help mitigate the internal bleeding.
7. From this stage onwards HSR is actually considered detrimental. While the body attempts to heal itself, due to the extensive damage done on the cellular level, the body actually produces more useless or dead cells than it does normal cells. This causes the body to heal in scabbed or otherwise misformed ways. Bones are more brittle, skin is leathery or incredibly weak, blood vessels are too small or too large, etc. Every internal organ is bleeding somewhat, while the gastrointestinal system is dealing with moderate internal bleeding. One’s nerves are also affected as they suffer misfires or occasionally become unresponsive aside from pain. Step techniques can only be used if an individual is willing to endure extreme pain requiring a 3 in SoW or Pain Tolerance. Or a combined total of 4 in both skills. Even if they do get used, they are 3x slower. The skin at this stage is also beginning to produce open sores, allowing blood to flow from them. These sores are infrequent at this stage. Thinking is not easily done and forces all mental skills to be reduced by 1 in terms of capability.
8. At this stage an individual is barely considered “functioning”. They have several noteworthy sores on their body that are bleeding. Their internals, limbs or organs, are bleeding. Their mental capacity is limited to thinking on the immediate and the current. Their mental skills remain reduced by 1. Pain is slowly ebbing away due to nerves giving off incorrect or mixed signals, only a 2 is required to endure at this level. This also causes an individual to start spasming in their limbs (aside from the head). SoW or Battle Focus 4 is able to minimize this, but the spasms remain. All internal organs are now bleeding at a moderate level. To not collapse at this point requires a 4 in Damage Recovery or 3 in Bleeding tolerance. Or a total combined value of 5. Step techniques are impossible to use. Fatigue is immense. Every action from breathing to making a fist are incredibly difficult as well as noticeably slower.
9. Only the most stalwart individuals can survive to this point. And even then, this is nothing short of Hell. Pain is non-existent due to the majority of nerves being unable to produce the signal for it. Heavy internal bleeding throughout the body. The mind is barely able to register what is currently around them let alone consider what is going on aside from an individual's likely depth to unconsciousness. The body has open sores frequently placed throughout it causing the individual to effectively be in a pool of their own blood. To survive and remain conscious requires a 5 in the combined skills. SoW, Battle Focus, Damage Recovery. To move at all requires a 5 in the combined skills: SoW, Bleeding Tolerance, Damage Recovery. If these are not met the individual is either unconscious or conscious but unable to move.
10. Death in DE threads or Unconsciousness in DP/NDE.
Drawbacks:
Radiation sickness is no joke. However, there are ways to deal with it. Do not come in physical contact with the user. Do not get hit by the gamma rays. Stay away from the contaminated areas. After the first duration of the Neutron Star stage passes the areas will no longer be contaminated from the Supernova blast. Ranks in Poison Tolerance will allow an individual to take several instances of contact with no noticeable effects. 2 dose levels per point in Poison Tolerance. HSR will nullify the effects of doses until dose 7. Healing techniques that are class 3 at least will reduce dose levels in addition to whatever the technique does. Class 3 reduces 1 dose. Class 2 reduces 2. Class 1 reduces 4. If for some reason a Class 0 is used, the individual is healed outright from all doses. High HE can also help mitigate effects. Up to 800 HE, every 200 points equates to 1 point in Poison Tolerance. If an individual has a 3 in Poison Tolerance and 600 HE they are outright immune to the doses. Higher OS will also allow an individual to act as though they have points in Poison Tolerance up to 2x. For every .25x more OS they have than the user, they act like they have a point in Poison Tolerance.
Moving past the effects of the Radiation Sickness we focus back on the user. Namely what abilities are gained at this stage. (Namely how else they inflict doses of radiation) They gain 2.5x their OS in durability for each limb. They also gain the means to produce gamma rays. These rays are equal in class to this stage (Class 2) and if they come in contact with an individual will burn as though it were a cero. It even moves at cero speed (800) however in addition they apply a single instance of dose. These reach up to 80 feet in a direction and cost 300 reiatsu. In addition to this the user is able to make any weapon or object they wield to become charged with intense amounts of radiation. Though it will look no differently to the naked eye, its damage is noteworthy as it will slowly break apart. An object from the environment can sustain 4 posts of intense radiation. Meanwhile items will suffer durability damage equal to 75% the user’s OS. Every instance of contact with these irradiated weapons causes a gain of one dose in an individual unless they have a 3 in poison tolerance. Superior OS as described in the radiation sickness section works identically for irradiated weapons.
At this stage items/weapons/summons/spiritual creations/etc. can also be irradiated. To do so requires physical contact with said object or summon and requires the user to have equal or higher OS. When an opponent's object, weapon, or creation is irradiated in this way, they take durability damage equal to the OS of the user. This will also give a dose to an individual if they come in contact with said creation, weapon, or object. This follows the same clash as the users irradiated weapons/items/objects. This lasts for 2 posts and uses the class of this level. (class 2) for class clashing) This costs 200 reiatsu per instance of irradiating. RPCs cannot be irradiated in this way however dolls, for example, and other summons can be irradiated. Irradiated summons either take durability damage if they have a durability or suffer dosage gain.
In addition to items gaining the means to give doses of radiation, all spiritual based attacks are able to give doses of radiation as well. However, unlike while on contact hits with the irradiated weapon and user are one dose per hit spiritual attacks are not guaranteed to give a full dose. If the victim has equal or lower OS to the user with no points in Poison Tolerance, then they will gain a dose per hit. If the individual has a higher OS than the user, for every .25x higher they will act as though they have a point in Poison Tolerance as far as mitigations are concerned. This caps at 2x the user’s OS. For every point in Poison Tolerance that an individual has they reduce the dose by .25. Thus, an individual with a 1 in Poison Tolerance or 1.25x the users OS will gain 3/4‘s a dose. At a 2, half a dose. At 3 a quarter of a dose. And at 4 they gain no additional dose build up. It should also be mentioned that the user has the means to irradiate matter around them by paying 50 reiatsu for every 5-foot cube they irradiate. Unlike former levels however this cost can be paid and can increase the area by adding an additional 5-foot cube for every additional 50 reiatsu. They must be touching the matter in question to irradiate it. Irradiated matter follows the same dosage application as spiritual attacks. These zones of radiation last for 3 posts and while not visible to the naked eye follow the same ES requirements to sense.
Lastly is the AoE produced by the user for existing. As a neutron star is a celestial body of immense mass, constrained to a small size it exerts an immense gravity. This gravitational field the user emits is 40 feet in all directions. While an individual is within this field, they will find it immensely difficult to move away from the user. This is due to gravity trying to bring them closer. Thus, for anyone that has a speed stat lower than the user's OS is unable to move away from them. However, this does not prevent step techniques. Step techniques can move an individual away however when doing so they cost 3x the reiatsu and they are noticeably more fatiguing, causing each step to be worth two, lastly the step tech movement speed is halved while moving out of the field. There is however one other point to make note of the gravitational field also makes an individual move faster if they move towards the user. This speed increase is 20% for their base speed and 2x for step technique speed. For techniques like Shunpo Karin that multiply the speed of an attack(s), the boost is reduced to an additional 1x. This speed boost includes attacks that are fired at the user. For techniques/abilities that use speed as a portion of the OS, this bonus does not apply. (I.E. Hundred Fangs)
To use this form costs 400 reiatsu and lasts for 4 posts.
Level 7: Black Hole
Form:
This is the level that everyone expects when dealing with stars. This is the level in which the user becomes a black hole. Sentient as ever with their body being effectively the event horizon while the actual singularity is the pill itself. As stated in the prior stages, this stage cannot be used if the user was not in the Giant stage for at least a single post. In addition, if the user remains in the Giant stage for the full duration and then activates this stage the user gains certain benefits. However, unlike the aforementioned stages (White Dwarf and Neutron Star) this stage does not cause an explosion or a supernova event. Instead, the Star AoE and all the heat that was generated is removed and collapsed upon itself. What changes depending on the number of posts that the user has spent in the Giant stage is actually how strong and how large their gravitational field is. For the duration of the first use of Black Hole for every post used in Giant stage the power of the gravitational pull is .5x the users OS. This increases to 2x the user's OS. Meanwhile the range of the gravitational force is 60 feet for every post used. This caps out at 240 feet. The gravitational force exerted on an individual or object is dependent on how close it is to the user. Should the user be more than half its gravitational force away, then the OS of the field is 50% of the user’s OS. If an individual or object is within half the distance of the field, the OS of the field is equal to the user’s OS. Upon the user refreshing this stage the power of the gravitational field will return to being based off of the user's current OS as opposed to the modified number. (.5x, 1.5x, or 2x) The range however will remain the same. Thus if the maximum range of the gravitational field is achieved, the field will remain that large upon refreshing this level.
There is one last point to be made about the gravitational pull of the user. When the gravitational pull is stronger than the OS of an object or individual, they are drawn to the user. This is similar to the AoE produced while the Neutron Star stage is active. Individuals whose base speed is lower than the user's OS are unable to move away. And in this case are brought 30 feet closer to the user every post. Individuals can still use step techs to gain distance but remain halved, triple the cost, and count for 2 steps for that post. To ignore this outright the individual or object in question must have a superior OS to the gravitational force. However, when an object or individual willingly moves closer to the user they gain a 30% speed boost to their base speed or a 3x step tech boost. This includes attacks fired at the user as well. For techniques like Shunpo Karin that increase the speed of an attack(s) this multiplier is reduced to an additional 1x. For techniques/abilities that use speed as a portion of the OS, this bonus does not apply. (I.E. Hundred Fangs)
When an object or individual is brought to contact with the body of the user (The Event Horizon) they immediately follow a clash using their Strength (if it's a living being) or the OS (if it's not alive) against 1.5x the user’s OS. If the OS of the user is higher, the portion of the individual or the object in question is collapsed and consumed. If the object or individual has a higher OS, they automatically hit the Mod Soul pill and are not collapsed. It should be noted that the Mod Soul pill has a durability of 3x the user’s OS. If this durability reaches 0 the user is killed in a DE thread or knocked unconscious in DP/NDE. This durability is in lieu of using durability from an individual limb. A Mod Soul's natural HSR cannot make the user regain durability lost from being hit. The only means to restore this durability is to refresh this level or to have a healing technique used on the Mod Soul.
There is one other thing to mention for this gravitational field. The terrain around the user and within 50% of the maximum range is drawn towards the user. The matter will smash into one another and grind against one another as it orbits the user. After two posts of this stage being active the creation of an accretion disk begins. This accretion disk is superheated material that due to the immense and constant friction induced by the gravitational force and rotation of the space around the user. This accretion disk starts out with a length of 10 feet away from the user, and is half a foot tall. This will grow in size every post by 5 feet in length and half a foot in thickness. The maximum length is 35 feet while the maximum thickness is 3 feet. There can only be one accretion disk formed at a time however the user can reposition it to any degree around them at any point. The accretion disk can be repositioned at a speed of 600. It starts out centered at the center of the sternum at 180 degrees’ horizontal. This accretion disk can do a couple things. First and foremost, at the edges it can cut / melt anything it comes in contact with. Being heated beyond even stars it typically has no issues cutting through things; however, past the furthest point of this disk, the cutting ability of the disk is removed. Instead, it is supremely hot particle matter that will vaporize most things that come in contact with it. For an individual to survive a post in it with only first-degree burns require a 4 in Heat Tolerance. Those with a 3 survive the first post with second degree burns, those with a 2 in Heat Tolerance suffer a 3rd degree burn in the first post. Any less and the individual is vaporized on contact. Superior OS works similarly allowing an individual to act as though they’ve points in Heat Tolerance. 2x the user’s OS is a 4 in Heat Tolerance. 1.75x is 3 points, 1.5x is 2 points, 1.25x is 1.
The user similar in nature to the Neutron star has the means to produce beams however where the prior was gamma rays these are quasar blasts. These are incredibly quick beams that can be maintained throughout a post if the user desires. These quasar blasts are collections of particles from the accretion disk that are fired out in a direction of the users choosing from any point on their body. They move at 1000 speed and burn at 1.25x the user’s OS. However, for every point in Heat Tolerance an individual has, this removes .25x the power of the quasar. Objects that aren’t outright burnt to ash by it are instead superheated and melted. These objects remain superheated for 3 posts and require a 3 in Heat Tolerance to avoid being burnt. Burns made by the quasar blast start at 3rd degree burns with every point in Heat Tolerance reducing the burns by a degree of severity. Meanwhile the superheated material starts at 3rd degree burns but reduces in severity for every post that passes. Points in Heat Tolerance reduce the burns by a stage of severity.
Last but not least part of the accretion disk can be molded and formed into something other than a circular shape. It can be molded into a weapon of the individuals choosing. The weapon must be melee oriented in nature though its specific form can be to the users choosing. Anything hit by this accretion weapon is subject to the same clash as the accretion disk itself. To create this weapon is free however it does use up matter from the accretion disk. For every foot used to create the weapon 5 feet of length and half a foot of thickness is sacrificed. This weapon lasts 3 posts. The user can no longer use items in this form as they are automatically destroyed unless specially made to survive being in contact with a black hole. I.E., specially commissioned items using a 4 in crafting. Such items can be used but as mentioned in previous stages take damage constantly. Every post they use the item, they suffer durability damage equal to 75% the user's OS.
To use this form costs 600 reiatsu and lasts for 5 posts. Lastly if the user cannot pay the cost, the skeletal form fades away with only the pill remaining. The body from prior is not regained.

Squad 12 scientist - Aoyama Tsukiri
Shizuka Sanamizu
History:
Hoshi’s story starts in much the same way as most Mod Souls do. In the Soul Society, in a basement level of Squad 12. Hoshi was initially an idea, really a concept of power. The kind of power that could possibly level Hollow kind if it was created properly and thrown into the den of the wolf. So, to speak. That idea was simple: create the sun and throw it at the core of the never-ending night in Hueco Mundo. This, of course, turned out to be far harder to actually follow through as a great deal of research was necessary to actually understand just what the “Sun” was and how to replicate it. This led to a few “excursions” to the Human World to effectively steal data regarding the human world’s Sun. This went by relatively well and within a couple weeks Squad 12 had all the data necessary for replication. It was just a matter of engineering the Mod Soul to act in the manner required and be able to reproduce the ball of fire. Through trial and error and a few decades, this was able to be relatively reproduced with some degree of ease, though it was not nearly as effective as the intended end goal. Still, it was definitely going to be enough to throw Hueco Mundo into chaos if all went right.
Thus enters Aoyama Tsukiri, the lead scientist on the Icarus Project of Project Spearhead. The man in question was the one who originally had the idea to use the sun against hollows. This was also the man responsible for programming everything Hoshi would need to fight against others. Data regarding hollows. A decision-making system. The means to produce and regenerate reiatsu. The “soul inclination” towards fire and specifically writing it in such a way to produce something akin to a Sun. Effectively, everything that made Hoshi a weapon and everything that gave him a degree of “sentience” was created and downloaded into Hoshi, by this man. Thus, when Project Spearhead was finally intended to be shut down, he was also the man responsible for permanently shutting down Hoshi. The issue at the time was due to how nearly complete Hoshi was to actually reduce him to nothing but inactive coding was going to be far harder than other Mod Souls. Especially the newest generation of Mod Souls. This would involve Hoshi agreeing to being shut down if they weren’t going to outright fight him. Thus, Aoyama attempted to do so slyly. Originally coming in with the simple goal of “updating” him.
This was a standard event for Hoshi. Sometimes it was to make him process reiatsu more efficiently. Sometimes it was to update his core with data regarding the Sun and other stars. Others it was to give him more data on the world around him, or rather data that would help him in Hueco Mundo. So, with this in mind, Hoshi at that point in time, didn’t even question the idea of what Aoyama was downloading. Having only considered it to be something else about his powers. Mind you, it should be noted that Hoshi at this point in time, was also far less. . . sentient. He was more akin to a living weapon. Robotic in nature to a degree. Feelings. Higher level thinking. Morality. These concepts weren’t really applied to him as they were never intended. And while he could eventually consider these prospects, it was assumed he would die before ever living long enough for that to occur. The problem for Aoyama came from the fact that he had successfully produced a weapon. This meant Hoshi was pretty well aware of what was getting downloaded into him and what the intended effects would be. Thus, shortly after the “update” was started he realized he was being shut down.
Hoshi however wasn’t going to let it happen. He literally was programmed to not allow himself to be killed. Thus, he immediately wrenched himself away from Aoyama and activated his level 3 of his power. The room he was contained in, as well as the technology promptly started to overheat and fail. Aoyama himself was beginning to burn but thankfully he was rescued from Hoshi due to additional security being present. For a time, Hoshi managed to fend off the guards and security that was keeping him trapped within the experimentation room. . . That is until he realized he was in fact powering down. His abilities that were implanted into him were slowly but surely getting locked and he wasn’t able to override them. He was also rapidly growing more inefficient in his energy usage making it so that he would eventually burn through his energy reserves. Which meant he was on a timer. One that was a good deal used up due being held in place by the guards. He had to leave. Had to get to the Human World somehow. And that’s when it hit him. He’d seen the rooms where miniature senkaimon were held. They were a few floors below him, but he could reach them and escape through them. To where, he would have the time or luxury to know but it had to be better than here. Especially given he had the chance of surviving in some capacity.
Thus, Hoshi let loose as much as he could. Limiters he mentally overrode. Attempted to fight back and hold onto what abilities and information he still had access to for the time knowing that he only had so long until he was going to be beaten into a corner. The next several minutes quickly became a blur to Hoshi. He only saw enemies and objects. Objects became weapons. Or obstacles. Enemies became dead or brutally injured as he tore through them. Aoyama had avoided his assault simply due to having been taken to a higher floor. But those beneath were not so lucky. Hoshi didn’t spare anyone. Scientist or guard. Guest or resident squad member. Hell, even some of the plus and other specimens present were used against all who made their way before him. His biggest saving grace in this entire endeavor was the sheer volume of heat he was giving off. Squad 12 had fairly resilient facilities but that didn’t change that the wiring, metal, and various sensitive technologies were all vulnerable to intense heat. Thus, they fried themselves, malfunctioned, or otherwise were destroyed by Hoshi in his rampant and raging trek through the basement levels. Eventually finding that which he desired, the senkaimon room.
This is when his next big issue came to be. . . By the time he entered the room it was already well guarded, and most were turned off. In fact, there was only one senkaimon present and someone was actively in the process of turning it off to prevent his escape. This was it. Do or die. But even Hoshi knew that he’d have difficulty getting to the minikaimon. And to make matters worse, he was nearing his limits. The limiters were being reinforced and he was losing access to much of his abilities rapidly. In more accurate terms, he was seeing black around his eyes and knew that he wasn’t going to be able to stop that anytime soon. In fact, he couldn’t stop it. He’d need another scientist to stop it. . . but those present weren’t going to do that in any capacity before. Let alone after his rampage through several levels. Hoshi had only one option remaining then. A single option that ensured he was going to get through this endeavor. He went full throttle on a single level that was locked away. All mental and physical efforts were reverted to unlocking a higher stage. Even if only for a moment because that was his only option. Produce a power that none of the current shingami could handle.
From the outside perspective, it looked like he’d shut down as his energy went faint and he fell to his knees. The room was at a standstill. Quiet. Tension was heavy in the air and almost physical in how heavy it was. Even the individual who was turning off the minikaimon had stopped and stared at him. Or as far as they were concerned. The body. To Hoshi, however? He was fighting a war unlike anything they could imagine. It wasn’t simply a war to gain power or a resource. It was a war for fucking existence. If it could be described in any way, it was a deathmatch slugfest between the updated protocols and Hoshi. And by only the slimmest margin available did Hoshi ACTUALLY manage to achieve victory. The issue mainly came from the fact that the update itself had a backdoor. A means of extracting data without losing it or damaging it. Namely recreating it somewhere else and allowing access as long as you had the access to do such. Hoshi had managed to recreate the access necessary and recreate stage 5. And once he got it, he channeled every last point of energy. Mental, physical, and spiritual into activating it. When he finally actually got it running all Hoshi could see was white and vague outlines of everything around him.
That and the feeling of sinking. Namely due to the fact he was rapidly overheating and even melting the metal beneath his feet. It took only a second before he started his madman’s dash from the entrance to the opposite side of the room. Individuals were charred to the bone. Metal and electronics were nigh melted or had become actual puddles of various materials. The room itself was being superheated by him simply existing. Needless to say, he managed by simply burning his way through the guards who found their weapons ineffective due to overheating and melting in their hands. Their bodies were promptly scarred by the Mod Soul’s body as it grabbed them and threw them elsewhere. But finally, after what felt like an eternity to Hoshi, he’d made it to the minikaimon. Grabbed it with both hands and promptly melted it as he passed through. Sadly. . . his arms didn’t make it, but the remainder of his body did, and it collapsed in Karakura on top of a building. The body he was housed in rapidly fading away as the energy used to create its form was spent. Hoshi, the weapon created by Soul Society, was shut down with only a pill to show for having ever existed. Thankfully there were individuals that had been watching, or more accurately monitoring Karakura for spiritual activity. Threats specifically.
Hoshi for his brief period of being “active” had pinged heavily on their instruments. And in the span of fifteen minutes had been located, retrieved, and ultimately returned to Xcution. From there he was immediately experimented upon. The experimentation on his pill was almost immediate from that point on. Mod Souls were well known to Xcution but the data about them was all over the place. Namely due to not having a plethora of them to work with. Namely due to Shinigami influence. Thus, Hoshi was something of a breath of fresh air in that regard. A new subject and a new possible weapon to add to the organization as a whole. Especially if they could reignite whatever spark it was that allows Mod Souls to exist. As far as Hoshi’s concerned, he simply didn’t exist for the time it took Xcution to learn about him and attempt to bring him back. So, when he did “come to” he was very obviously surprised. Having effectively time skipped from his last few moments of “existence” to some indeterminate amount of time later having been revived. The first few months went by quickly but were ultimately a reminder of why he left Soul Society. He was experimented upon and the coding that was keeping his functions minimal if not outright secured was being actively hacked into and broken down. Once the former “update” was completely eradicated Hoshi went back to “shutdown” for a time. This was to let him reset before he could be fully “functional” again. But when he woke up next, he was in a doll and was distinctly “different”. Though he couldn’t exactly put his finger on what it was, body aside, that made him different.
From there his life became most of what it is today. He was explained to, in as much detail as possible, what had happened to him. What was done to him both by the Shinigami and by Xcution. What the original goal for him was as well as what the Research division had in mind for him and a visit with the CEO of all people. Ultimately it boiled down to a choice in how to handle his life from there on. As well as a brief introduction to how humans handled things and the difficulties he’d have regarding “living” in the human world. Hoshi however had already decided shortly after he’d woken up what he wanted to do. Experimentation aside, Xcution had saved him. Brought him back and apparently had ensured he could grow back into his former self. That was all that mattered. He was back. And though he was weak, he could eventually grow to become something useful. Maybe even into someone useful. Thus, he agreed to join them and work for them until he repaid what he decided was his debt to them. Things were green lit for him to join the main masses a few months later once it was certain he was fully functional and capable.
