Name: Challenge from an Outcast Participants: Rafael vs Shinigami World: Soul Society Death Setting: Damage Permanent Rating: R Location: Western Gate / Rukongai Special Conditions: Any Shinigami may enter, if you want to join awesome. Circumstances: Rafael tired of constantly facing off against Shinigami that view him in a negative light has journeyed to the stronghold of the Shinigami in the hopes that through violence he’ll keep Shinigami from causing trouble in the future.
Moving from the rooftop beam to another that looked virtually the same, the massive black Panther continued to leap, doing what he could to keep attention on him to a minimum. He knew he was massive compared to humans which made staying out of sight rather hard even what he was doing right now and had been doing for the last several days was something he knew couldn’t hide him completely. His weight was simply too much as he jumped from rooftop to rooftop always landing in the middle with the most support. Breaking down through the roof wasn’t something that would hide his presence nor feel all that great either so he’d avoid it as much as possible. He was going to accomplish a goal he had set for himself, one that he had set off to accomplish little less than a week ago. Traveling the vast distance from his home to the stronghold of the Shinigami.
Although he’d never been to the massive wall that they all hid behind, he'd seen it from a distance and heard about it from some of the humans that lived in scwoller. Right now he was closer than he’d ever been in the district closest to the wall, the massive slab of pure white that was imposing without a doubt. One tall enough that Rafael wasn’t certain even with his strength he’d be able to cross with a simple jump. A few more buildings and he was there at the one closest to the wall, everything past this point he had to consider under constant view of those that had no issue ending him.
A large enough area of just ground with nothing built on it or growing from it was between where there citizens lived and the entrance to the wall. A massive gate that was obviously the designated way inside was directly in front of him now. Hopping down from the top of the building, descending down several floors before landing like any feline on his paws. Walking forward towards the gate, Rafael's body begins to shift as he goes from a massive nine foot Panther to his natural form on two feet of equal size.

When hearing of the massive feline that had breached entrance and was headed to the western gate of Seireitei, it just so happened to be that a redheaded Shinigami reminisced this place, the gate of which Kuroi had invaded so long ago. The massive panther comes forth, and with it, as he pauses, yelling his loudest that he is there to challenge, Odayakama Senshi was the first to engage him, the gate opening from the massive guardian of whom lifted it for her. She was small, short in stature, and delicate, but she wore the white and black robe of the Captain. From the fluttering of her left sleeve, it became obvious she was missing an arm on that side.
"Hachiban juu Taicho. Odayakama Senshi. I would recommend that you cause no trouble, and do no harm. What are you here to challenge?" She asks with a neutral expression. Her brilliant crimson red hair had a few strands blowing in the wind, her demeanor rather demure despite being confronted by such a physically intimidating figure. "Beast Clan. If you intend to cause harm to the people of Rukongai, and or view yourself as foe to the Gotei Thirteen, know that I stand as the first sword in your path. That, and I am the weakest amongst their leaders, and that there are plenty far stronger than I am."
Perhaps an unintimidating threat coming from a girl whos sword was nearly as tall as she was, dragging slightly along the ground despite hanging from her hip. The red thread handled blade in its black lacquer sheath. Standing near the base of the wall within its shadow, she awaited his answer. However, one should note that just because she was the weakest of them did not mean that she was not strong. The Panther would have much to reckon with if he was to continue here. A rude awakening.
Standing and waiting for the Shinigami to come out the gate wasn’t something that Rafael had thought would take long. Just a simple shout of challenge and he figured a few of them were going to come out with the usual attitude, declaring themselves better than him. Perhaps tell him that he’s wandered too far from the woods and needs to head back there now. The usual things that he heard from them and part of the reason he was standing here now. None of that happened though, instead it took much longer for the gate to even open and when it did only a single female came through with a missing appendage.
This wasn’t the showing that Rafael had anticipated and although he recognized the white and black piece of clothing that this woman was wearing over the usual black, he still wasn’t sure how this was going to prove what he wanted here. He’d come to show that he couldn’t be pushed around anymore, that the Shinigami were to leave him alone and his pack from now on. Somehow beating the crap out of a crippled woman that barely managed to reach half his size, didn’t give him the hope they’d see it that way. No this already seemed like just the sort of thing they could spin to their benefit. A small woman beaten to a pulp by a savage animal.
“You introduce yourself yet don’t bother to ask the name of he who stands before you.” Rafael sighs aggravation already starting to build within his gut. “I may not like them, but I don’t intend to harm them like you all. I’m here to settle things with all you behind that gate. I am of the West, the area that is no longer yours to torment.” Rafael had to put aside his own beliefs based on her appearance and remember that the Shinigami could cast incredible spells, something she more than likely excelled at even though she claimed to be a sword. “Prepare yourself Leader Odaykamia.” Rafael tried to be respectful in combat although his American life gave him no knowledge of the fact he’d just spoken not only the Shinigami's last name, but incorrectly.

"To settle the score with us behind the gate." She sounds the words, as if trying to comprehend the words off her tongue. "I don't know what this score is, and I apologize for not asking your name." She holds her right hand upwards in a flat palm, bowing her head apologetically. "However, I cannot let you pass." That discerned, she stands firmly, her soft and cute appearance becoming rather sharp and calculated when he tells her to prepare herself.
"Thank you for giving me the warning..." However, with that said, the spiritual pressure begins to build up in the area, drastically so, oppressing the area as she places her hand along the handle of her blade, the blade half drawn, her head tilting to the side with a shadow of her gaze. "...Ban-kai." A furious wind blows, her blade becoming heated, glowing a crimson color as it begins to shrink in size. However, that was all. There was no glorious burst or incredible alteration of the area. The blade was seemingly less impressive than before.
"Shonin Joka Shimazu..." That said, Senshi launches forward with a Shunpo, just a few feet separating their bodies together as her blade swings overhead. Surely impossible to actually do anything more than a graze against the Panther. Surely while powerful, not sharp enough to match his strength. However, in those next moments, the blade not only extends, but becomes fluid like in nature, splitting into eight extended blades that stretched to close in on him from every direction. It was almost as if it was as if Senshi was launching multiple swings all at the same instance of time.
What more...their cutting power was unfathomable. Assuming her fluid like blade extensions, closing in like a flower were successful, the Beast Clan's entire body would be butchered, his arms and legs utterly decapitated, the blade ripping and extending through and past his chest in crisscrossing formations before meeting at the center of his being. In that split instant, all the blades would intersect and reconnect into one blade. The redheaded reaper would let the blade rest in his center.
If he was unable to stop this attack, his body would more than likely fall apart into several segmented cubes, separated from one another, collapsing around the center of her blade, more than likely cutting him as a hot knife might through butter. Odayakama Senshi may be the weakest captain in all of Seireitei. However, her blade at least in terms of raw power was the most powerful. That, she could boast with absolute confidence. Though was her attempt fruitful? That was the true question.
At least this little redhead was one to accept when she did something even a little wrong. Something that Rafael wasn’t really sure if he could expect from the majority of the Shinigami considering his experience with them. This one took the time to bow her head and from this moment on was more respectful, something that earned her a bit more standing in the eyes of the pitch Panther. As she bowed her head Rafael did the same only knowing of the custom from his life as a human with no actual knowledge about how it started or what it meant just that it was something to show respect.
In the moments that followed Rafael got into one of his standard synced with his arms up in a vertical position high enough that his paws were near his face. His left leg forward with a slight bend while his right hung back supporting the majority of his weight. Protecting his head was something that was still essential against someone that used a weapon like the Shinigami even if his size made it feel like he was fighting a child. The sheer difference in not just height but size was immense. A fox ready to fight a wolf, Rafael had to commend the courage if nothing else.
Just like that though he heard something familiar, a word that he recognized although where he couldn’t recall. In the moment that followed the energy that this Shinigami was giving off didn’t just become visible, but Rafael’s instincts began to give him alerts about what was happening. He couldn’t sense reiatsu like some others, instead his instincts as a Beast were so high that he could tell just how much more dangerous this redhead had just become. If she hadn’t been a threat before she was now. If she had been already then she wasn’t someone he could hold back against now.
What Rafael saw though wasn’t what he would have expected, this Shinigami had been holding a sword as long as her body, now though it shrunk to fit something the size that a child could employ. Although he wasn’t very knowledgeable in regards to weapons whatsoever he did know about the method of attack. A blade so much shorter would allow her to attack much faster with more possible angles. This was definitely dangerous, but that was nothing new as the Shinigami always sought out his blood. The only difference now was he’d come looking to break their blades.
After a moment more the Shinigami made the first move executing the technique that allowed them all to accelerate past the normal limitations of their speed. Getting just a few feet in front of him Rafael could see her entire body as his left leg began to move upwards while her arm descended down. An overhead swing downwards with the intention of inflicting a lethal wound on his head. An attack that was to be expected, what wasn’t expected were the additional blades that seemed to split off from the hilt. Either way though due to the size difference between them Rafael’s massive leg clashed against the small arm of the Shinigami.
Rafael’s knee and leg were both more than twice the size of this small shinigami’s arm let alone her hand. The impact of his knee against her hand would keep her sword from touching Rafael, sending her arm upwards from the impact while causing some sort of damage to not just her hand, but her wrist and forearm as well. Rafael wasn’t sure how durable this girl was, but he wasn’t holding back his strength against her which meant she was likely to suffer. Regardless though her strange multi bladed sword wouldn’t be able to cut him so long as her arm was kept up.
Living out in the wilderness didn’t provide for much in terms of entertainment. That was one thing that had been at least a little better while he had been alive, as a human he had been able to watch tv, play a game, go online, at the very least look up interesting facts or watch stupid videos. Over the last few years he’d been unable to do any of that. He’d been forced to survive out in the wilderness with things stronger than himself, things stronger than the Shinigami. In order to do that he had to practice, he had to refine what he’d been taught.
How much growth could someone obtain if they did little more than practice. How good could someone get at a sport if they only ever stopped to eat and sleep. Just how far had Rafael come from that bullied human who’d been killed after finally standing up for himself. He’d started this life as a Beast without choice, he’d been taught it was a curse to live this way. He’d been told he was less bullied once again . . . No more. He’d taken a stand last time and gotten himself killed. He wouldn’t make that mistake again, not when the others depend on him. He wasn’t just doing this for himself, this was for all Outcasts!
His knee after impacting this Shinigami’s arm was in the right position for his leg to extend out at full speed with intent to kick his foe directly in the center of her torso. Strong enough that it’d send her backwards with fractures along her sternum. At least that’s what Rafael assumed he could accomplish with the strength he possessed although he’d seen that the Shinigami were quite durable and this woman didn’t seem the type to give up easily. If she managed to evade his leg somehow yet stayed close she’d find Rafael’s right arm coming at her with a hook on her lighter side set to impact the phantom spot of her body.

Senshi wasn't new to the bouts of physical combat, and luckily, she had honed the style of her fighting style. She struck rapidly, decisively, because in the case of her Zanpakutou, it only took a single decisive blow to attain victory. She blurs, and with her flash, her eyes sharply look down to the Panther, only to see his stance shift and his leg rises into the air. His size was much larger than hers, it was true, and thus would have more mass. However, all it took was a big leap into the air.
As his leg rises into the air, all it took as an advanced airground platform underneath her legs to delay her fall for just a split second as his leg shoots, missing its target as Senshi arcs her back forwards in her swinging motion to not only slice Rafael as she had intended before, but to enter a somersault over his head. However, as a result of now falling to the ground, instead, the Panther's upper body was the main part receiving the strikes as the Split rips through his arms and chest, and then into his back as they tear into his form.
Due to having dedicated to the kick, it was rather unlikely that the Beast Clansman could intercept her blow...could he? Assuming she was successful in ripping into Rafael, her blades sinking easily into his shoulders and through him into his chest and stomach, his arms severed if not outright decapitated from the multi angle strike, she lands behind him in a crouch, her blade sucking inwards, her eyes wide and sharp as the young redhead launches a diagonal swing for the back of the panther's legs if she is able in a fluid transition while his outstretched leg comes back to the ground. Both legs would potentially be cut off then there.
No movements were wasted, and it was clear that even if she wasn't strong, she had an incredibly graceful set of movements. With a blade like hers, it was easy to cut through muscle, tendon, flesh, and even bone. Assuming she was too successful in that transitioning blow, his legs would have no use for him, tumbling forward with blood spraying from the massive cavities Senshi made. Her blade was malicious, and the internal damage Rafael would suffer would likely be tremendous from the eight blades biting through him, dug further inward with Senshi's bodily momentum pressing into it as she flipped over him.
Taking a deep exhale, her brilliant blade is swiped, the panther's blood bathing the ground as she feels more confident with every swing. Taking a few steps back, she looks down upon the warrior before her, blade still clenched tightly in hand as the many tendril like blades shake, joining into one blade. Though, she had met many odd enemies before. She was not certain if this one was dead. However, he was now likely digesting just how incredibly dangerous this small redhead can be. Or more so, her blade.
Rushing towards him with the intent to slash at his body was an obvious attack, but everyone had something. Most attacks were obvious if you could keep up with the movements, something that Rafael could tell both of them would likely be able to do based on the speed that this woman was moving at right now. Both of them had roughly the same speed so anything Rafael did would be straight forward unless he employs one of his techniques. Jumping up off the ground only to jump up again wasn’t something that Rafael had been expecting but even still things weren’t quite so easy.
The distance between them now was so minimal that Rafael would be able to breath on the small female. She was continuing with her attack while now being up higher than Rafael’s full height. His Brian processing everything that was going on at the speed of a supercomputer in the human world. A little aspect of himself that Rafael still had a hard time believing. His ability to think at speed that sometimes seemed like a curse. While he had been a human he could wander off inside his head for an hour now though the same amount of thought only took a moment. Making boring days even longer for the giant Panther.
What he could see though weren’t the movements of someone that knew how to flip, they looked like the actions of someone that was trying to do so for the first time. Rafael knew how to flip himself forward; he'd learned how to do that. This Shinigami though it looked as if she didn’t have the right method. Leaning forward now that his leg wasn’t on the ground Rafael goes forward while looking to slam his forehead against this woman’s shins. If he missed then he’d just take a few steps forward then turn around and strike forward with a straight punch sending out a shockwave the size of his fist towards the torso of the Shinigami.
A simple shockwave delivered from a punch was all it would take to send the Shinigami soaring backstage away from the massive Panther. The physical strength the Panther exhibited would be enough to inform anyone that was watching, not to get hit. The shockwave that Rafael unleashed on the Shinigami wouldn’t cause much damage to her torso even if she didn’t defend herself at all as it was mainly meant to oust out some distance between them. Thankfully that seemed to succeed perfectly as she was sent more than a couple hundred feet away into the first district of the Rukongai where she was now out of sight.
He wasn’t going to let his guard down knowing that it would definitely give someone the chance to land a critical injury against him, but now it was time to continue with what he’d planned. His goal was to make a statement to the Shinigami. One they wouldn’t be able to ignore anymore and to do that he felt he needed to send it to all of them. Standing now in front of the massive wooden gate that blocked off the civilians of the Rukongai from the Shinigami. Rafael shifts his feet, spreading his legs while bringing his right arm backwards. In the moment that follows he strikes forward with his right arm unleashing a massive degree of strength on the gate.
A single blow rippled through the sturdy structure of the gate bending it backwards from his fist, splintering the obstacle. A single blow was enough to make a point yet no one was around and Rafael was looking for recognition above all else. Delivering a following up was all it would take to send the gate toppling backwards in several massive pieces. Almost like an entire wooden building collapsing the entrance to the Shinigami stronghold was now down and Rafael was ready to continue reaching for his goal.
(Dan if you want to hop back in that’s fine just let me know.)

Alarms were raised throughout the Seireitei, alerting the entirety of the Soul Reapers that there was an incident happening at the Western Gate. Normally, heading towards that situation would not be a part of his job, but he had a few excuses to respond to the threat. He was the vice captain of squad nine, the 'Information Dissecting Squad'. He could use that as a way to say that he was relaying real time information to the other squads who were meant to be dealing with an invader, like the tenth or eleventh squads. He could say that he was there supporting the captain on scene, Senshi, as a vice captain. But he knew the real reason he was headed towards the threat.
Ever since he reached his current rank, he has been forced to take up more and more duties in the Seireitei, not being able to explore and help in the world of the living as often as he wanted to. It was irritating. Most of the time, he loved taking long breaks from hard work, but there were limits to everything. Months. He has been stuck behind a desk doing paperwork for months, and another day of doing nothing would drive him insane. He needed an outlet. Lo and behold, someone decides to give him an excuse to finally get back into the field, so to speak.
Instead of trying to navigate the infuriatingly complex labyrinth of streets, he opted to travel via rooftops, leaping from one building to the next. He had imagined that doing something like that would be more difficult than it actually was, having underestimated his own physical strength. As he approached the site of the attack, he did one last check of his possessions. On his waist were two weapons. The first was his Zanpakuto, sat on his left hip. On his right was a silver cylindrical hunk of metal, vaguely in the shape of a sword hilt. He grinned at the feeling of it. He was itching to use it.
On his face was a new mask that some of his squad members had picked up for him on a visit to America. It was from a movie franchise from a couple years back. They said it was from the movie 'Black Panther'. It looked pretty cool, he would admit. He arrived as the intruder smashed its way through the gate. It sounded in the dry crack of thunder, deafening the area as the gate flew backward, landing with a crash that muted everything for a second time. Connor could only stare down in awe at the raw strength of this creature. He knew this was no hollow, so it could only be one of those Beast Clan monsters, similar to the Roaches he had fought awhile back.
Connor wasted no time, and drew his Zanpakuto from his sheath. Drew Tamashī from the one thing containing it. Connor did not consider himself a warrior. Warriors were those who lived for the rush of battle, those who craved stronger and stronger opponents. A warrior was someone who enjoyed combat. Connor considered himself a soldier. So, when he swung Tamashī at the Beast, launching a Posioned Wave, moving at 800 speed, from a distance away? He felt no shame in the action. He was here to defend the Soul Society, not play around with someone who could crumple a gate that size into a heap on the ground. He wanted to kill this thing before it, or Tamashī, could cause too much damage to the surrounding area. Considering there was no sign of Captain Senshi anywhere, he doubted that would be possible.
Poisoned Wave: 150 Total Reiatsu Remaining: 7,850/8,000
Item Description: Compression Tag: Useful for carrying large amounts of gear into the field, this is a simple metallic square approximately two inches in diameter, with the insignia of Squad 12 branded on one side. It can be affixed to any object that emits spirit energy, after which it acts like a button of sorts. Pressing on the device after placement, will immediately and instantaneously reduce the object to 1/100th of its original size and mass. The device was conceptualized after study on the Arrancar’s Caja Negacion, and acts as a portable dimension—converting its target into reishi and storing the excess mass there. Destroying the tag will instantly cause the object to revert to normal size, as will pressing it again, if the user is precise enough to press it on the reduced object. This makes it extremely easy to carry an otherwise massively unwieldy arsenal out into the field.Tags can be reused if deactivated but cannot be reused if destroyed. Please be careful with them. NOTE: Squad 12 has not adequately tested the effects of this device on living souls, and does not recommend the attempt until further testing.
Price: 2,000 Ryo per tag
Item Name: Plasma Blade Item Type: Weapon Item Description: A silver cylindric hilt with a small groove that contains a green button and a red button. When the green button is pressed, a powerful blade of refined plasma ignites from the hilt, focused by an outer covering of lasers. This is similar to a Star Wars Lightsaber. The color is up to the user. Pressing the red button turns the weapon off. Individual Price: 2000 Ryo
{Techs Used}Poisoned wave: This is Connor's only ranged attack in release. By charging his blade with a bit of reiatsu, some of the poison will gather on it. By flicking his blade or slashing, a large crescent wave will fly in whatever direction he attacks at. This blade will cut anything it touches, as well as spread more poison. The crescent flies at a speed of 800, and cuts with the force of his highest spiritual stat. Anything it makes contact with will have its infection accelerated by three posts. This will also turn weaker abilities into poison. Costs 150 reiatsu, and can also be used in shikai.

Knocking over the gate wasn’t anything beyond what Rafael had been expecting although the fact that it had taken two definitive strikes meant that it was definitely sturdy. He could only hope that it wasn’t something the Shinigami would be able to mend or replace right away. He was here to make a point, it wouldn't be a very strong point if everything he did was easily handled. So taking the first few steps into the stronghold of the Shinigami, Rafael inhales through his nose a foreign warrior now in his opponent's home. “How the tables have turned.”
This wasn’t going to be easy, that much Rafael was expecting, he could already tell that much with the fights he had experienced against the Shinigami in the past. The previous one that he’d just sent flying. She wore the same sort of white cloak that one had in the past. The only opponent that Rafael had chosen to retreat from, he wasn’t sure he could stand up to that one today either, but whether he could or not he was here to make a statement.
What he could see right away though was the area was already essentially filled with Shinigami. Dozens of different human looking enemies that all wore the standard uniform of black with swords at the ready. What surprised him wasn’t the amount that had been ready behind the gate, it was the fact he hadn’t been rushed right away. Even now he was standing there watching and could see the fear. It was almost as if the fear these Shinigami were experiencing was so palpable he could taste it in the air. Thankfully though the individual that took Rafael’s attention over the several dozen others didn’t have that same look.
This one was his next opponent Rafael could tell that much right away especially when he saw that this one had several different key points about his appearance. The first thing was he wore a mask over his face concealing what was behind. The major thing that took most of Rafael’s attention was the fact that Shinigami had a sword that didn’t look like any of the others. He knew that the Shinigami could change what their swords looked like when they got serious and unleashed their powers. “Unleashing everything from the start huh.” Beyond that was the fact he wasn’t standing with the others instead off to the side atop a building.
It was just as he saw though, this Shinigami wasn’t the sort to mince words nor engage in banter it seemed. Waving his crude looking black sword sent off a wave of energy, something that Rafael had dealt with against a couple opponents yet it wasn’t exactly common. Either way though there was enough distance between them that Rafael could evade even if the wave was moving much faster than he could. Hopping backwards off the ground in order to put several feet between where he had been standing was all he needed to do to keep himself from getting hit.
In the moment that followed Rafael would land back on the ground only a couple feet backward.. Landing with a massive impact Rafael shoves his right foot into the stone ground below him. Resembling how a human would be able to kick through a layer of ice, cracking the surrounding while the actual foot disappears beneath the broken obstacle. As for the ground around Rafael’s foot now the large Panther lifts his foot moving it forward like he was kicking. Breaking off a large portion of the ground around him and sending it flying at the Shinigami. A boulder of sorts now headed towards him with enough force to bring down a building.

The wave Connor had unleashed impacted the ground, black sludge oozing leaving a scar upon the earth that it touched, vile liquid sinking into the ground. It did not stop at just where it impacted, however. The Beast just barely managed to avoid the spread of the poison, stopping just short of his feet. What was once a pristine tile floor, now bubbled and hissed, as it was quickly twisted and warped into something evil. "AAAAHHHHHHH! HELP ME! HELP MEEEEEE!" Came the a screeching cry, as the ground was reconstituted into a pit of screaming humans. Or, what appeared to have once been humans, as they looked little more than flesh over bone.
Empty eyes looked up at Rafael, screaming and pleading for him to save them, as the zombies made a grab at his legs. The pit was overflowing with zombies, but in spite of their best efforts, they could not free themselves from it. They begged him, and would grab at anyone that dared get too close. Their fingers scrapped against the ground around them as well, each clawing hand leaving behind more of the black liquid that had spawned them. It spread at a speed of 300, up to fifteen feet. If the big cat failed to dodge, he would be touched by either the creature, or the plague it carried.
As for Connor, with another flick of his sword, he launched a second poisoned wave through the flying boulder, aiming through it in an attempt to hit the panther through his own attack, but it was very apparent that wouldn not be happening. The attacks clashed, the liquid shearing through it with some difficulty. The sound that the attacks impacting against one another made was intense. It was like nails against a chalkboard, with the wailing of the damned added in. Connor winced at the noise, as the two halves of the giant rock fell to the ground. They started to quickly twist and warp, much like the street did, before each half twisted and melted into panthers.
The twin big cats had sunken eyes, and were foaming at the mouths, as parts of their skin seemed to be melting off. They both roared, as they began to make their way towards the person who first threw the bolder they had spawned from. To any normal panther, these two might have been the kings of wherever they might roam, but that was nothing compared to this monster that stood against them. They had 300 physical stats, and senses as finely tuned as an average human. These were merely a byproduct of the poison that flowed along Tamashī. And with each step, that very same poison pulsed against the ground, moving as fast as them, for fifteen feet.
Connor, still standing atop the building, reached into his shihakusho, pulling out what looked like a pager. He pressed a button, before speaking into it. "This is Lieutenant Connor Greaves, speaking to all Soul Reapers in the area; All seated officers and below, retreat. I repeat, all seated officers, evacuate the area." He said, as several of the Soul Reapers watching from a distance heard the voice through their devices. From what he could see, their faces paled, as they scrambled to get a healthy distance away. If this fight went on for too long, however, there would be no safe distance.
With a flash of Shunpo, Connor appeared on the ground, standing across from this member of the Beast Clan. He had dealt with them before, though those had been cockroaches. Frankly, those had been ugly as sin, and while not human, this one was at least not compelling him to blind his remaining eye just to avoid looking at him. The Vice Captain was tempted to enter Bankai in an effort to end this as fast as possible. He wanted to try and avoid destroying the area completely, and the Rukongai was exposed, thanks to the door being destroyed. There was no way they would be able to evacuate in time if he did.
The tip of his sword rested upon the ground, poison pouring from the blade into the earth. Waves of liquid rippled across the once pristine white tile, as the poison began the process of converting all that it touched. Connor, in one last attempt at a peaceful resolution, tried diplomacy for the first and final time. "You are under arrest Beast Clansmen. Surrender now, and I will place you under arrest, and make sure you have a fair trial. Resist, and I will cut you down. This is your only warning." He said simply. He would love to avoid conflict. He wanted to avoid killing his fellow man as much as possible. That, and he was certain that someone would be making him pay for the property damage.

Watching as the dark purple liquid-like substance that came from the Shinigami's sword seemed to change the tile, a sight that seemed wrong just by instinct alone. It was almost like what this Shinigami could do was an insult to nature itself. It gave Rafael an uneasy feeling, something tantamount to an instinct warning him that touching whatever this liquid was couldn’t be good. Of course that was only reinforced by the fact that the screaming and little hands that spread the puddle out further. It was almost like the sword had souls inside of it and could send them out as weapons. At least that’s how Rafael saw it for the moment.
Hopping about a dozen feet backwards in a single motion away from the puddle back onto one of the broken pieces of the door, Rafael watches as the boulder he’d thrown is cut apart. The liquid this Shinigami used was unlike anything that Rafael had dealt with in the past, a fact that was only further confirmed when it seemed to give life to the two separate sections of the boulder. Getting what information he could about the opponent that had come to stop him was all he had planned on doing, but now based on what he had seen it looked like he may have to take this one out right away. The feline looking enemies that spawned Rafael was not alright with assuming this Shinigami had chosen that look on purpose.
An insult in the midst of combat. Just another reason to prove to these enemies that he wasn’t to be taken lightly. The noise that had come from the two attacks meeting was one of the most irritating things that Rafael had ever heard although it wasn’t anything that he hadn’t been expecting. Of course he hadn’t thought such a sound would be used against him, but being irritated beyond belief, well that was one of the reasons he’d come here, the Shinigami were already doing that to him. These other panthers may be a problem though, something Rafael confirmed when he recognized that with every step more purple liquid was left behind.
“Touching them isn’t a good idea. Can see why he thinks he’ll win.”
Rushing towards him Rafael moves to the side lining up the two panthers one behind another to his line of sight. Although he was a Beast he wasn’t stupid nor inexpiernced, choosing to line up all three of his enemies. Rafael would inhale while the panthers got closer and the Shinigami began to speak to the others. As his foe continued to speak though Rafael would unleash his roar sending out a large burst of air that’d collide with the first panther knocking it backwards into the second and continuing to push them backwards towards the Shinigami.
Rafael wasn’t certain the purple liquid could cause the Shinigami harm as it was his own ability, but with something so unnatural he couldn’t judge. If the Shinigami evaded and chose to make his offer to Rafael then he’d find the massive panther simply staring his mask down. The pale gray eyes with no pupils would show no sign of regret nor worry. All they’d give anyone to perceive would be irritation. “Do what you can, I’m here because you’ve already done too much and I’m tired of it.” Rafael wasn’t sure how he was going to handle this one when it seemed like he relied on distance yet determined to figure something out. “Don’t touch the liquid or the sword and throw stuff . . . now to figure something else out.” Rafael thought to himself as he kept his eyes on the Shinigami and the two panther minions.
Technique Description and Effects: A variation of the Howlrazer Ferality, Howlburst is an attack that focuses on raw damage rather than striking at something's hearing. A common tactic from an animal to cause intimidation is to roar, something that the Beast Clan know all too well about. Howlburst is used when someone has gotten too close for comfort and the Beast wants to make some distance. Using this technique, the Beast Clan roars and releases a sound wave from their body, pushing anything away from them. The wave is equal to their Strength stat, throwing back anything that has less strength than them.
How to use technique: Take a deep breath, build Reiatsu in the throat, and release it with a scream or howl of some sort.
Technique Drawbacks: Obviously, this technique cannot be used by mute characters. This technique also targets everyone except the user, including allies. This technique costs no reiatsu, due to being a physical feat. If used this technique can only be used three times within the span of ten posts since the first use, otherwise the character will lose their ability to talk for fifteen posts.

The lungs that this beast possessed were rather impressive, as it let loose a howling roar in his direction. Connor crossed his arms in front of his face, as the sonic blast shoved both him, and the panthers he inadvertently created backward. The poison rippled across his blade, wave-like patterns running down its length like a pond against a hurricane. Not a single drop left the sword. Connor found himself pressed against a building from the power of the attack, and aside from everything being drowned out by the tinnitus that overwhelmed his sense of hearing, he was perfectly fine.
The two beasts had been launched at him. The first slammed into the second, causing the two to ricochet away from one another. The beasts found themselves slammed against, and through the building their creator was pressed against. A flash of blackened purple streaked across the destroyed wall. Judging from the lack of pain and bodily harm, he could only assume that attack was to put distance between the two of them. Or, four of them, he supposed. Once the attack had finished, he heard most of what the beast had to say to him. It would have been easier if his hearing had not been assaulted like that, but complaining would do him no good.
The offer Connor gave was rejected by the beast. It was the obvious outcome, given how far he had come. He did not blame him for the decision he made, though he does regret what he will have to do. The beasts lunged out of the building, black foam dripping from their snarling mouths. They were glaring daggers at the beast that flung them away, and bounded after the bipedal panther they were literally made to kill. Waves of poison rippled against the ground, like walking through calm water, much like his sword before. The two let out cries of anguish as they ran down their target.
Connor stood up straight, as he let the tip of his sword drag against the ground. As Connor strode forward, the blade dragged against the tile, as it let out a metallic scraping noise. Intimidation was probably not going to work on this opponent, but then again, when has it ever? Much like the panthers, his blade rippled against the ground. Unlike the zombies, his blade looked more like a wave, with the liquid pouring endlessly from the source. Connor flicked his blade upward, releasing another Poisoned Wave towards the big cat.
The attack, much like the sword, ground against the ground as it traveled onward. It glided forward, almost like a huge zipper, as the floor suddenly became more of the same screaming humanoids as before. This was launched after the small panthers were close to the big panther. Their poison spread at a speed of 300, all the way up to fifteen feet away from them. If engaged foolishly, their plague would be spread onto the invader. Their objective was to latch onto Rafael, or to otherwise infect him. Connor cared not for their health or wellbeing, and the attack would cleave through one of them if they managed to do their job.

It seemed that the battle that’d only just briefly began was set to continue. Rafael was here to prove a point in order to start a new chapter not just for himself, but his friends and the souls that had started to follow him as a new option. He was tired of the shinigami constantly pushing them all around, treating them as something less when in reality their own actions proved themselves the4 lesser of the two. Building up what he had started to envision for himself and others wouldn’t be possible if the ones inside this stronghold continued to feel as if they were entitled to the lives of others. For this reason despite knowing very little about this foe and the thousands of others around him, he’d continue forward.
The mockery figures rushing towards him now confirmed even more than this shinigami despite having a sword wasn’t one that sought to end things up close, or at least not right now. His roar had bought him a bit of time, but beyond that it didn’t do anything. The mockery puppets had been sent through a stone wall yet still held their form telling Rafael that it’d require a bit more force to break them. Snarling with foam from the mouths of them both Rafael sneered at what he saw. Shifting into his combat stance with his arms up, forearms vertical, left leg back and right leg forward. This shinigami saw Beasts as nothing more than rabbit animals so it was time to break him like an animal would.
Leaving a trail of the purple liquid behind them with every step corrupting more and more of the surroundings. This shinigami’s ability was dangerous, not just to those he fought, but everything around which gave Rafael the feeling his own power likely didn’t affect him otherwise he wouldn’t let it run so wild. Rafael stood watching not just the two mockery puppets coming his way, but the shinigami who hadn’t moved from the building yet. Once the distance was getting smaller and smaller he watched the shinigami get down from the building and start his own approach while effecting the ground beside him.
Wait . . .wait. . . . wait . . Now!
The puppets right near him Rafael leans back on his left foot shifting his weight and balance to that single section of his body allowing himself to kick outwards with his right leg while doing the same with his right fist. Although the position wasn’t the coolest looking or even efficient in what was normally good for the situation it was enough. Rafael sends out a shockwave from each limb. Only a few feet between him and the puppets meant they’d have no time to react while the shockwave burst through the poison, hopefully destroying them while pushing it backwards and to the sides away from Rafael.
His right foot coming back down as he settles his balance and sees another of the purple liquid crescents sent his way. Focusing on the sole of his feet, the paw pads against the hard stone that held his weight. His claws dig on the stone as his weight shifts to the front, his toes holding him as his claws nearly puncture the stone and then he vanishes. The shinigami likely wouldn’t lose track of him completely due to his own speed yet would it save him?
Executing Shunpo in order to get out of the wave while positioning himself only seven feet to the left side of the Shinigami with his right hand extending outwards set to strike the shinigami yet the length of his arm wouldn’t accommodate this attack. Rafael had already shown that he was strong enough to unleash shockwaves and now it would appear he was going to cause one at almost point blank range on the shinigami. That’s what Rafael hoped the shinigami believed yet his straight punch would unleash no shockwave instead a pitch spike of fur from the middle of his knuckles set to pierce through the chest of the shinigami. He’d have to evade one of the sides as moving backwards would only result in the same wound due to the length of the spike.
Technique Description and Effects: A technique of Rafael's own making that like many mammal techniques utilizes his fur. The fur slightly darker in shade known as spots which dot Rafael's body are the catalyst of this technique as these spots of fur grow at an exponential rate outwards from Rafael in a straight spike like manner.
Class 5: At this stage the technique has only blossomed from concept embarking through the first level of development. It's at this point that by focusing on a single spot located on his body Rafael is able to trigger a rapid rate of growth in his fur of that singular spot. The fur at a speed of 800 grows outwards in a linear shape much like a spike. This spike of fur will reach a total length of eight feet in distance from the rest of Rafael's normal coat while impaling anything in that distance with force equal to Rafael's Strength.
How to use technique: Rafael must concentrate his reiatsu into the spots dotted across his body.
Technique Drawbacks: The spikes of this technique can't penetrate through anything that has durability superior to Rafael's Strength. If they do collide with something of superior durability than the force will still be impacted on the point of collision yet the spike itself will immediately fall flat returning to normal fur.
