“Ugh can’t we be sent somewhere with actual excitement?”
“Come now this is our post, we’re here to protect as all shinigami should.”
“My lord you never stop with the blind belief. We’re at this crappy Rukon District with criminals and weaklings. We should be storming an enemy base instead of wasting our time here.”
“We’re here because there have been so many attacks recently. They need us in case it happens again.”
“Attacks! From beasts! They’re mindless vermin that I doubt even exist, let alone could challenge the might of a true shinigami like myself.”
“Jeez you just never stop.”
The duo wasn’t aware though that only a few minutes away were those very same Beasts that had attacked months ago.
1 Hour Later
The sound of a little girl crying as she ran through the street as much of the district had been toppled over. What was going to happen to the thousands of souls running for their lives now from an unknown amount of Beasts that sought to destroy everything in their way? Would the shinigami step up, would they be enough to save everyone?
After taking the time to mentally recover from last time, Camila stood inside the Rukon one again with a mission. If someone like that damned panther was enough to singlehandedly take her down, then she needed to do something about it. She wasn't going to let that happen again. She was going to do what she could in order to get as strong as she could, as quickly as she could. Cracking her neck and shoulders, she continued to wander the empty, desolate streets that had been attacked not moments before. She was ready to fight not to defend the Rukon, but to further advance her own goals. There was no way she'd be aiding Soul Society without some ulterior motive; after the shit she had gone through, there was no chance of that.
Unlike the last infiltration attempt, Camila was completely dressed in street clothes; this consisted of her standard jeans, leather jacket, and some miscellaneous band tee. There was no way in hell she was going to fight alongside some asshole Shinigami, and she was going to make that known. She'd been labeled by them all as a deserter; from what she'd heard from her old Captain, she's was basically a "kill on sight" target. That said, while her main goal here wasn't to fight soul reapers, she definitely didn't put it outside of the realm of possibility while engaging with the real target here; those that had been causing all of this mass destruction around the area.
Moving throughout the ruined streets were numerous bulky statues of muscle coated shells. Insects larger than the majority of football players in the world of the living. Entities so physically imposing that the sight of what they had done so far wasn’t necessary to send everyone that’d seen them running. These Beasts were at it again, appearing randomly throughout the wilderness and the Rukongai now once again attacking the souls that lived in Soul Society for some unknown reason. This time though it didn’t seem like there was going to be any real resistance.
The Shinigami that no longer clung to that title would hear the noise of loud footsteps coming from a street over, a distance little more than seven feet. The screaming of course wasn’t going to make things easy, but if she was looking to challenge herself than what better way to find what was causing all these issues than to just follow the screams. On the next street over to where she currently was located though was one of the Roaches. Watching as several citizens ran down the street as fast as they could from it who had just ripped another in half as easy as paper.
This one just happened to be the one closest to this particular individual though. The district was in an uproar with more than a couple dozen citizens already slaughtered. It had started less than an hour ago and despite the relaxed almost uncaring demeanor of these Beasts, citizens were dying like flies. At the moment the number of Roaches was unclear with the only opposition being the two low ranked Shinigami who were currently struggling against a single Roach in combat that was starting to go against them.
