Name: The Forest of RockNRoll Participants: Kira vs Rafael World: Soul Society Death Setting: Damage Permanent Rating: R Location: Wilderness (North Western Sector) a giant forest of pine trees with very few dirt trails, home to extensive wildlife. Special Conditions: After 5 rounds Roach Beasts will arrive. Each participant is allowed to control x roaches at a time. Circumstances: Rafael is out in the forest looking to gather food for his pack. Kira is out in the forest getting a breath of fresh air several miles away from her home district in the Rukongai. When they come across each other, remembering the last time they crossed paths a battle ensues.
Moving throughout the wilderness was something that Rafael had made into a sort of hobby in the last few months. When he had awoken in this strange new world he hadn’t ever really thought that he would have made a new family for himself. One that was far better than his father had been to him while he had been a human. It really was strange he couldn’t believe sometimes when he woke back up in the morning that everything he experienced in the last two years was real. The overwhelming abilities that this second life granted him, Zadora and Lolth his family. Almost everything was better. Except when it wasn’t, this life came with pain just like the last one.
Rafael could deal with physical pain that had been most of his human life suffering constant beatings from his father. Now though he was suffering emotional pain he couldn’t fathom. A friend, a family member was dead. Lisa, the most recent who had only been with them for a few short months, had been found a week or so ago dead. Rafael couldn’t find any sort of evidence to tell him how it had happened or what had done it to her. All the same though he just couldn’t heal this emotional pain like his physical.
He was in control of his own life this time around so he’d have to make a better effort at protecting Zadora and Lolth. He didn’t know what he’d do if either of them were lost as well. At the same time though Rafael knew he couldn’t keep them from doing what they wished. He had no desire to turn into the control freak that his father had been. Though he had come close to death facing off against Beast, Hollow and Shinigami alike he wasn't going to let that keep him from living a life of adventure. At the moment the tall panther was running throughout the trees of a forest that he had come across roughly three hours ago.
The forest was actually very beautiful and Rafael as was normal now liked to take time to enjoy the scenery. Nature was something that he truly appreciated in his life. As a human he never really got to experience hiking throughout a forest yet now it was something he could do whenever he wished to actually do it. The smell of the pine needles and the grass always brought a smile to his face, although now the beautiful scent did what it could to fight off the depressed grasp of loss squeezing his heart. As he rushed throughout the foliage on the ground of the forest though Rafael spotted what looked like a small clearing up ahead of him.
As Rafael continued to move forwards approaching the clearing he got a strange sensation rushing up his spin, almost like his instincts were warning him while at the same time he felt like this was familiar. He had fought many things in the wilderness yet unlike the first few months he had learned much and developed himself. He now was confident in himself and although he knew to be careful was calm enough to keep going and find the supplies he felt were needed for the next few days. So continuing forwards Rafael stepped out onto the dirt trail that slithered up the mediocre hill in this thick forest.
"WOOHOOO!" Came the loud cry of a clearly excited woman. Hers wasn't the only voice calling out their pleasure, as a chorus of others let their joy known. A man and a woman were on a stage inside of a large tavern, each with a mug of ale in their hands. The only difference is that the woman's glass was empty, while the man had some still left. The woman was laughing and cheering, while the man looked down at his glass, annoyance visible on his face. Both of them were sporting heavy blushes. "Told you I was faster! In your FACE Yone! Hahaha!" The woman laughed, pointing at the now named Yone, as he grumbled, finishing his liqueur in silence.
The woman on stage was a tall woman, with crimson hair. Her name was Kira, and she was the fifth seat of the sixth squad in the Gotei Thirteen. After working without break for roughly five years, she decided that she deserved a vacation. It had taken her a good few days to return to her old home town, but it had been worth it to see her old home after so long. Sure, it was a den of thieving bandits, many of whom would stab you in the back the first chance they got, but hey, no place was perfect. Speaking of perfect... "Hey! My glass is empty over 'ere!" She called out to the bartender as she made her way to the counter. The man gave her a dirty look in response, but filled her cup up nonetheless.
She slammed it back, drinking half the glass in a single go. She almost missed this place. Almost being the operative word here, as she felt a knife slam against her back. The blade broke, of course, such a weak weapon couldn't hope to damage such a strong shinigami like her. She turned around only to see Yone, holding the hilt of a dagger. Kira gave him a nonplussed look, as she downed the rest of her ale. Yone, for his part, looked as pale as a ghost, and was shaking like a leaf. Kira gave him a smile. The man looked confused, and returned it. Kira whipped the look off his face as her empty glass shattered against the side of his head.
The coward was sent flying. He flew over the heads of many gaping bar goers, and straight through one of the walls on the other side of the building. There was a beat of silence, before everyone in the bar started cheering at the brutal murder of one of their own. Kira herself was pumping her fists at the new record she set, when a hand grabbed her shoulder to spin her around. It was the bar owner, looking mighty pissed at her. "Kill whoever ya like, but don't do it in my bar, got it?" He told her firmly. She nodded her head, knowing that you don't piss off the guy who serves the ale. "Good, now get out."
After getting booted from the Tavern, Kira had decided to go for a walk. Naturally, she had been jumped five times already. She could tell that the village was doing better for itself, because only three of them had been after her money. Naturally, she treated them all about as well as old Yone back there, but despite herself, she was getting bored. Dealing with weaklings had been all well and good in the past, but after the Soul Society, these chumps weren't good enough for her. Once you dealt with hollows, and other shinigami, normal souls just didn't seem to get her excited anymore.
So she decided to walk some place she's never dared to go. She decided to venture into the Wilds, a gigantic forest filled with the most dangerous things that Soul Society had to offer. Aside from the Shinigami, of course, and that was exactly what she was going to show those stupid animals. She might have been way too drunk to go fighting danger beasts in the dead of night, but she was drunk and didn't really care. She stumbled across a few roots, but managed to keep herself on her feet by sinking her fingers into nearby trees. She decided that slamming her feet to stomp the roots back under the earth, would help her not trip over the roots better.
She wondered what kinds of creatures were prowling around in the cover of darkness. Lots of big animals hunted at night, right? Maybe if she was loud, something would attack her? The stomping of her feet, while loud, was getting tiring, so she went to lean against one of the massive trees that were spread across the jungle. "EY, WHERE ARE YOU UGLY LOT!?" She yelled out, her voice echoing further than she would have expected. Then again, she had the throat and lungs of a singer, she was loud when she wanted to be. She pulled out her dagger-shaped Zanpakuto, and waited for something to show up.
One thing that he really couldn’t help, but appreciate in this second life was the new incredible vision that came with being a Beast. Perhaps it was more that he was a feline though, either way Rafael didn’t really care so long as he could see very well even at night and in a dark place such as this forest. He heard the sound of something moving turned his head and saw the very appetizing appearance of a bear, grizzly in fact. Rafael had only found one in the past and while at the time it had been difficult to kill, the amount of meat he got to eat afterwards had made it so worth it. Now he was confident he could kill the animal without making it suffer and still enjoy the hundreds of pounds of flesh.
That is until the bear actually got scared of a loud noise off in the distance and began to move away. Rafael was half tempted to still get the bear for himself and simply go back to his home. The majority of him though knew that whatever making that noise was likely strong, perhaps strong enough to give him a challenge. It had been a few weeks since anything had come across him. The competitive nature of the large Beast pushed him towards the noise. At this point even a weak fight would be better than nothing. He had to wonder what had ever happened to Skoll? Although he was a bit much in attitude and flirting he was a good fight and Rafael had believed they were starting to develop a friendship. Suddenly though he was gone and Rafael had to wonder what had happened to him and his pack.
It was weird this pathway that just seemed to move right through nature itself. Normally in the wilderness he didn’t see trails like this which meant that it was near a human settlement. Rafael could only huff in annoyance knowing that with humans usually came unnecessary words. Never did they just want to leave him alone or fight right from the start. They usually just tried to push that bullshit authority over him. The sound that he could now tell was stomping was very close now and Rafael stopped as he could see down the trail that the source was a shinigami with long red hair.
Something felt even more familiar now as he saw this human. It was almost like he had already experienced this before yet he couldn’t think back specifically to anything like this happening before. As he got closer he’d be able to see the girl in better detail. It only took a bit before he realized that she was definitely drunk. He took a moment to look past her down the trail further and could just make out the light from the town roughly a mile away.
"EY, WHERE ARE YOU UGLY LOT!?
“Always the same, speaking down to others, Shinigami.” Rafael would come into view of the girl roughly fifteen feet in front of her. The way that he said Shinigami was almost as if he were trying to cut the very word with his tone. It would be easy to discern that this large bulk of muscle and fur hated the shinigami. What the shinigami would do with this little bit of information especially in her drunken stupor was a mystery. Rafael though knew at least one thing though, this Shinigami didn't look like the sort to treat others with respect whether she was drunk or not.
Kira was about a second or two away from dozing off, when she heard a voice speak to her. With a startled yelp, she spun her head around, trying to find the one who addressed her. Her eyes, well adjusted to the dark by this point, spotted the panther with ease, though that was probably only because it allowed itself to be seen. The panther stood on two legs, and was a little over a dozen feet away from her. Kira blinked dumbly in response, wondering if that indeed was a talking animal. "Oh fucks, are you a talking dog?" She said, only slightly slurring her words, while pointing at him.
She snickered at her own stupid joke, before spinning around. She plunged her dagger into the wood, hilting in a single thrust. The action created a cracking boom, as the tree severed at the point of her blade, thanks to the use of a shockwave. The trunk of the tree leapt several feet onto the air, and Kira jumped with it. With her free hand, she sunk her fingers into the ancient wood, getting a firm grip on the the tree. Spinning her body around, she swung the once proud plant at Rafael. Kira had a look of glee on her face. "Fetch doggy!" She yelled, as she tried to crush the panther.
Whether her sudden attack hit or not, the wood would crumple between her fingers, and the wood shattered against the ground in another explosion. Several other trees would be felled from her attack, collapsing to the jungle floor around them. This, Kira thought to herself, was what she had been missing. Violence. Pure, chaotic, rampant violence. She really hopped that the panther survived her attack, because someone who could only last one round wasn't worth being remembered. As Kira landed on the ground, she'd begin to search her surrounding for the big cat.
"I really hope that didn't kill you, whatever you are!" She called out to the jungle. "If not, I'm gonna have'ta start a lumber mill, cause I'll rip this jungle apart to get a decent fight!" She watched as the dust settled, having created a surprising amount, despite holding back. If she had to guess, she used roughly 750 strength, a quarter off her full power. The dirt in the air was starting to bug her, so the shinigami took a deep breath, and blew. A wave of high powered air blew forward, clearing the dust from the small clearing she'd just created.
Just like that it only took a matter of moments for this red head to frustrate Rafael. All he could think to himself was once again that this sort of thing was why he didn’t like to get involved with shinigami or humans. He could tell by the way that she was standing and the tone of her voice that she was drunk. He knew those giveaways far too much from his previous life under the boot of his father. He had every intention after she spoke confusing him for a dog to just walk away. He knew what was making the noise now and could still find that bear, there was no point in wasting his time with this drunk dumbass.
He didn’t have that option after a moment though as the shinigami spun around and severed the tree she had been leaning against with what Rafael assumed to be her weapon. The sound of the tree flesh being cut apart was enough to tell Rafael that this girl wasn’t someone he could just turn his back towards. She was strong enough to knock it down in a single action, dumb enough that he guessed she was looking for a fight against him right now. Either way the large feline stood his ground.
Watching her jump up and dig her fingers into the bark of the tree Rafael gathered a bit more information now knowing that it wasn’t just that her weapon was likely sharp, she was strong as well. He could tell what she was going to do and for a moment thought about simply striking the tree before it reached him, but realized that may leave himself open to the shinigami magic that was almost always employed against him. So instead the large panther rolled forward and to the left his size and speed carrying him several feet away then pushing off the floor of the forest to another large tree off the trail.
The tree that this shinigami had just used to smash the trail caused more than a dozen of the trees closest to the trail to begin toppling over while the body of the actual tree was now splinters flying throughout the air. Rafael was quick to turn around and sprint towards the shinigami as she got her footing on the ground once again. It would happen just as she started to speak, Rafael would reach her set on delivering a kick to her right side arm included, that carried his full strength. If she didn’t reach in time or countered she’d be sent flying from the trail through the forest smashing through several trees along the way. “Keep calling me a dog yet you’re the bitch shinigami.”
Just before Kira could make her threats, the beast appeared on her right. It turns out that the animal was more of a martial artist than his beastly appearance would dictate. He was fast, a good deal faster then she was, and his leg slammed into her arm. All she could do in response to his sudden attack, was flex her body. In spite of this, Kira was launched to the side, her body tearing through trees as if they were made of paper. Splinters rained from the sky, and landed all over the battlefield. And, more importantly, all over Kira. Lying down in the trunk of the tree that managed to stop her, she ran a hand through her crimson locks. They were covered in wood chips.
Still, Kira wasn't angry. This was exciting! Having tensed her body, she wasn't all that damaged. Sure, she had a few dozen scrapes on her, and her dress had seen better days, but that blow woke her up! She was nice and sober now, and she was grinning ear to ear. "Haha! Kitty's got teeth!" She called out, as she slammed her hand against the tree she was in. Instantly the wood exploded away from her, leaving the woman in a small crater. She strode out of it, with all the confidence of a supermodel. "I'm gonna have to kick things up a notch!" She told the cat.
"Here's a little rock and roll!" She slammed her foot down, and slid it forward in the same motion. The dirt shifted forward, before exploding towards the panther. It was almost like a tidal wave of mud and dirt. She hadn't been holding back on that attack, and it was rushing forwards with all the strength she could muster, and it was moving as fast as a shockwave. If Rafael didn't get out of the way in time, a dirt nap was the best outcome he could hope for. This was getting her blood pumping. She had been thinking of releasing earlier, but no, not yet. She wanted to see what this thing could do before she whipped out her ax.
This wasn’t going to be as easy as he had started to believe, Rafael could tell that the moment that his leg connected with this shinigami’s arm. Although he was successful in sending her flying through the forest tearing through the both trees and the ground in her path he knew it wasn’t going to amount to much. He could judge all this by the density that he felt in her arm. He knew what she had done and based on how it felt against his leg he knew she was incredibly strong. Her flexed muscles were going to keep her from suffering anything major from that kick unless she hit her head of course.
Rafael didn’t waste any time after he put this together at the speed of a high processing computer, jumping from the trail over to where the shinigami had stopped moving inside of a tree trunk. He landed roughly ten feet away from her and saw her brush the chips of wood from her hair. As he believed she didn’t look to have suffered much yet the scraps were a good sign that he hadn’t thought about a moment ago. She didn’t conceal any sign of her strength by crushing the tree she was in and the ground surrounding her.
Walking out of the crater that she had just made she would be able to meet Rafael face to face. “You better, if you don’t you’re going to regret it.” Rafael despite the darkness learned early that he had to keep his eyes constantly open, always surveying the movements of his opponents. This shinigami was loud and didn’t make much of an attempt to conceal her actions, plus the sound of her foot digging into the ground was a good heads up. Rafael wasn’t completely sure at first, but when he saw her leg start to move forward like a kick he had a good idea.
He thought that she was going to kick up some dirt in an attempt to blind him then strike out, that wasn’t really the case though as he learned. Rafael rushed to the left the moment that this shinigami’s attack started. He could see he was very wrong with what he expected. The ground where he had just been standing was completely obscured or perhaps what he was seeing was the ground he had been standing on. It looked like the ground and trees were a wave of soil washing over the forest. This was a risky play on his part attempting to do pretty much the same thing he had last night, but he had to do something. Rafael was running on this shinigami’s right and would appear in her view out of the corner of her sight for a moment before he swung attempting to punch this shinigami. His arm coming in low fist angled upwards he was set to strike this shinigami in the side and send her flying up into the air if he connected.
Kira could feel her blood pumping. She could feel her heart rate spike, as she let lose. It was exhilarating. But now Kira was starting to feel restricted. She wanted more from this fight, and continuing like this was going to leave her frustrated. After creating the dirt wave, the shinigami switched her dagger from her right hand, to her left. As she did, she saw movement from the corner of her eye, and smirked. The panther was considerably faster than she was, there was no denying that, but he wasn't so fast that she couldn't move her arm in his direction. Kira pointed her hand at the panther, with her thumb and middle finger pressing down against one another.
And then the finger came down against her palm, not with a snap, but with a crack, sounding like thunder from her hand. A small shockwave let loose from the hand of the shinigami, whipping her hair and dress backwards. The beast wouldn't be blown back, but nor would he be able to press on past the power of the attack. "Can you hear it, cat? Can you hear the drums of war?" Kira's heartbeat was as powerful as she was, and its thuds were almost audible to Rafael. Her grip on her zanpakuto tightened, the leather groaning out in protest. "Hear it!" She yelled. "Hear the siren's wail and die, Jūkinzoku!" The wind kicked up, pushing the panther back further, if he hadn't already moved away before now.
The dagger that was once in her hand had seemingly vanished. In its place was a long, six stringed electric guitar. It was black, with silvery strings, and a long whammy bar. But perhaps the most unusual part about it, was the fact that the body of the guitar had two ax-like blades, one larger one on the right side, and a smaller one on the left. Kira's smile never looked brighter, as she gazed down at her weapon. "Beautiful, isn't it?" Her voice was noticeably louder now, and had an electric edge to it. "I'm gonna use this to destroy everything and everyone in my path. Starting with you!" She yelled out.
Her voice activated something in the guitar. Her yell created a shockwave-like attack from the body of the guitar, waves of solid sound shot out in a cone shape. The ground was torn apart from the attack, and it didn't seem to lose any of its power as it traveled towards the panther. It only carried two thirds of Kira's strength, 660, but it would still do some serious damage if it managed to hit the big cat. Kira started to finger the strings of her guitar, unleashing more and more of these attacks, creating a near continuous stream of loud shockwaves. Then she started singing. "Well they say that we are tragic, and they say we're born to lose! You're the misfit, I'm the sinner! You're the heathen I'm the fool!~"
Rafael wasn’t going to waste any time now that he knew just how much strength this Shinigami possessed in her small body. There were only a few feet between them and Rafael was already in position to strike forward at her face with his right hand. Normally when punched in the face it would cause a good bit of damage to that singular spot, but this shinigami was going to be in for a problem as her face and Rafael’s heads were roughly the same size. So it was time to make her entire face black and blue. He couldn’t manage to reach her though as the sound of thunder washed over the woods and Rafael could feel a shockwave pushing against him.
It didn’t hurt him, but he could feel his fur being blown backwards while his muscles could only manage to keep him from flying backwards. He was pushed backwards a few feet made incredibly visible by the wounded ground where his feet had been dragged across. Rafael could only watch as this shinigami released her true power through her weapon like all shinigami. “Annoying bitch.” Finally the wave of air pressure ceased and Rafael stood roughly ten feet from Kira. What he saw her holding onto though was surprising, he hadn’t seen a shinigami with anything quite like a guitar before.
“Anything would look beautiful next to someone so vile.” Rafael wasn’t going to play nice with someone that attacked him for simply being. She was just like all of the Shinigami that he had come across, those that bullied others into servitude with false promises of protection. So much more negative things he had learned about them and yet he could never get past that simple fact about them. One that this girl was proving to him all over again. Based on what he could hear though and the fact she was holding a guitar all he could assume was she was going to use sound against him. He pondered over the idea of crushing his ear drums in order to prevent any sort of ability that could affect him other than physically. He paused on that though siding on the belief that this girl was too aggressive to possess such a subtle ability.
Only a moment later his assumption was proven as she sent a cone shaped shockwave towards him. Rafael could see the distortion in the air coming towards him which he sent a little present from his fist. Punching the air with his full strength Rafael created his own shockwave that would clash against the one that she had just sent at him. The result was a massive bomb of air digging into the earth, crushing the wood splintering what remained into tiny tooth picks. When he heard the sound of her guitar again he knew this was likely going to get difficult and began rushing to the side around this shinigami. Thankfully the clash of shockwaves caused a large cloud of dust concealing his physical form as he tried to get behind the girl and kick her in the back.
Kira was having a blast, no pun intended. The music her guitar made was the only sound that could be heard in the area. She strummed faster and faster, plucking the strings in what she called beautiful. And every time those strings vibrated, another wave of sound shot forth. It was like a tornado of sound was pouring forth from her instrument of death. Her first attack kicked up another cloud of dust, hiding the panther once again. That wouldn't last long. She turned, aiming her guitar where she thought the big cat was headed. The coward probably thought he could get around her with his greater speed. She scoffed at the notion, knowing that was the worst mistake he'd make.
Keeping in flow with the song, she strums all the cords at once, before she could feel her Good Vibrations shake her to her core. As the beastman struck her back, for a brief instant, he would feel as if he suck his left against something that was vibrating. Then he would feel pain, as those vibrations began to impact his leg, as if the red headed shingami were punching him dozens of times in a single second, likely breaking it, or worse. Kira felt the attack, and swung her ax around, intent on cleaving the panther in two. She went for an overhead strike, trying to cunt him in half, and slam her guitar into the ground, embedding it into the dirt.
If she missed, she would flick her thumb against the cords. The smaller blade on the side facing Rafael would shoot forth another soundwave, this time shaped like a crescent blade. It would move as fast, and hit as hard as the others, but it would likely be harder to dodge because of the beast's injury. After that, Kira would tear the guitar from the ground, sending a spray of dirt and rocks forward, along with another bigger shockwave, like the others from before. She would run after the panther, hacking and chopping at him, hoping to cut him down. She wasn't nearly as fast as he was, but she was too drunk for that to matter in her mind.
"Yes! YES! Come on, faster! Show me the strength of the wilds, show me your power!" She yelled out to him, her already loud voice being amplified by her guitar, creating ever more soundwaves through her voice alone. Every step she took made the very earth shudder, as her Good Vibrations shook not only her, but shot into the ground below her. The combination of her thunderous steps, and the technique, was causing everything around them to shudder and shake. The trees were wobbling dangerously, probably scaring off every animal around. She would dare say she could be heard for miles around. And she loved it more than words could describe.
Good vibrations: 100 Total reiatsu remaining: 700/1,000
{Good Vibrations} This ability is both her safest move, and the most risky. This is a purely defensive ability that blocks attacks with a lower offencive stat then she has in strength, while she is playing her guitar. It does so, by letting the vibrations her guitar make, flow through her, thus making her body tremble. Anything unfortunate enough to come into contact with her will be hit with the full force of her strength. Many... MANY times in mere moments. This ability is however dangerous, because if she somehow loses contact with the earth beneath her, or something underneath her in general, the ability will quickly destroy her. Any attack that has the a high enough offencive stat to exceed her strength, will have its power reduced by the strength of the music. This ability must be maintained by constant vibrations, or it will be lost the following post. This ability costs 100 reiatsu per post.
A kick to the lower center of her back was the intended target. Rafael knew that with his strength if he accomplished to hit this shinigami in that spot the chances of her getting back up were very small. It wouldn’t matter if she were stronger than him or if her zanpakuto gave her some sort of music power, as her body would be broken and then it’d be over. The results of that kick though couldn’t have ended in a more opposite direction though. Rafael felt the impact yet immediately it felt as if his foot was being crushed. Almost like a dozen rocks of infinite weight were being slammed on his foot. He could feel the cracks, breaks and fractures running throughout his foot until by the end of the full moment his bones were barely bigger than a centimetre as any single chunk.
His foot ruined while the entirety of the blood vessels that were housed within that small section of his body were torn apart worse than the bones. Blood didn’t pool in his foot instead it was more accurate to say that his veins exploded only his skin keeping the contents of his foot within his body. Rafael in truth only felt the pain for a moment as his reflexes took over. Seeing the body of this arrogant shinigami turn Rafael’s balance leg flexed, bent and pushed off the ground leaving a large dent in the ground as he sent himself flying backwards away from the slash of her guitar-axe.
He could feel the ground beneath his feet give way from his rather large weight accompanied by the string on his gut just above his stomach right across the pack of dense muscle. Almost as if on cue blood sprayed from the wound for a moment. Rafael could feel the wound wasn't incredibly deep yet it was going to be painful until tomorrow if he didn’t do anything about it. Although even that wasn’t fair as almost any injury for Rafael only lasted a single day He hadn’t understood that at first, but after he had learned what his strange ability actually was it made more sense. That wouldn’t help him at the moment though.
"Fuckin Bitch!" A slash wound on his torso and his right foot essentially destroyed, this wasn’t a good situation when this shinigami hadn’t really taken any sort of severe damage and now seemed to be able to protect herself via shockwaves. To make matters even worse all the noise was really starting to give him a headache. It seemed he wouldn’t have any other choice than to start utilizing his ability so that he could continue and show this shinigami what it meant to be strong. That was Rafael’s consensus until he heard something and turned to his right.
Out of nowhere Rafael was sent flying several dozen meters through the forest breaking down trees and fracturing a decent amount of his bones. His right cheekbone broken, he lay on the ground knowing now that this situation just got a whole lot worse. They were here! The Roach Beasts that attacked anyone and anything. It had been one of them that had punched Rafael immediately. That same Roach now stood in front of Kira, the blank emotionless stare studying her. Rafael accepted the situation as his eyes turned violet and his wounds began to heal rapidly. Kira though would hear the sounds of screams and off in the distance the night sky was lit with orange. The town she had been in earlier was on fire and the Roaches were hunting the inhabitants.
Kira had managed to inflict two major blows to her opponent, leaving her grinning at the prospect. A deep gash to the torso and a useless foot would give her the upper hand. She turned to face the beast once more, intending on hitting him a third time, but as she did so, he was knocked away by an armored fist. Or, that was what she thought it was, because upon further inspection, it certainly didn't look like it was covered in any metal she'd seen before. She looked to see what the fist was connected to, and almost took a step back in fright. Her eyes shot open in shock at the strangest thing Kira had ever seen.
An inhumanly long face stared down at her, with the most lifeless eyes she'd ever come across. They were nearly all black, with very little white to them, and it felt like they were staring into her soul. The thing was humanoid, but distinctly bug-like in appearance. With the two large antenna atop its head, she would say this thing was a human-shaped cockroach. Kira's face scrunched up in disgust. She regretted knowing that a creature like this could exist, and given the option to undo this entire night, just so she could forget and have never met this unholy being, she'd have done so in a heartbeat.
As it was, this creature was far too close for her liking. Apparently, this thing thought the same thing, as it rocketed its fist to try and separate her head from her shoulders. This resulted in the roach slamming into her Good Vibrations, liquefying the offending limb. The creature screeched in pain and surprise, clutching the stump where its arm was removed from. Kira, not wasting her chance, swung her weapon up, trying to cleave the damned bug in two. Unfortunately for her, the bug was used to pain on such a level, and was significantly faster than she was, so it managed to hop skip and jump out of the range of her attack.
But Kira was nothing, if not persistent in her goals. As the Roach leapt back, Kira brought her weapon down, embedding it into the earth with a backhanded swing. She let out a yell, screaming as loud as she could, creating a shockwave from her voice alone. Her Jūkinzoku responded to her rage, and supported her, creating a directional shockwave, just like it had before. The combined shockwaves created a tornado of sound, rushing towards the bug-man, with a strength of 1600. It dug out a trench fifty feet wide, as it slammed into the beast, ripping it apart, reducing it to a bloody mist, and scaring the earth below.
Kira was satisfied with herself. She had obliterated something tonight, so she felt she could return back to the village. She turned to the direction that her old home-town was... only to suddenly hear screaming. The night sky was alight with a dull orange, signifying fire. Lots, and lots of fire. "NO!" Kira cried out in horror. Whatever that thing was, it must have had friends, friends that went not for her and the panther, but the helpless people of the Rukongai. Ignoring the downed Rafael, she started sprinting towards out of the forest. Building were on fire, that much was certain, but maybe she could still save the people there. If not, she'd sure as hell avenge them.
That definitely wasn’t something that he had been anticipating. Rafael leaned against the tree that had finally ceased his soaring body. The weight and force of the impact breaking the bark skin of the tree and smashing its flesh inwards several inches. Rafael could feel the full pain on his limbs and back yet it was worse on his face where he had received the punch. Now that his Yaseishin was active and his body was healing he was experiencing the pain twice over although he knew if he bared it for just a bit the entire thing would cease.
It took a few seconds of time, but after a bit Rafael couldn’t feel the pain anymore and knew based on that fact he was totally fine once again. The wounds that he had just suffered from the punch were gone. The cut across his stomach closed shit and fur regrowing so fast it seemed impossible. Even his foot which quite frankly had been turned into liquid was nearly finished reconstructing itself. Although Rafael had caused a bit of purple to drip down from his lip, biting down to fight the pain from his foot reforging itself. "Great now I've got more assholes to rip."
Getting back up Rafael could see the area near him had been changed completely. Where he had been fighting that red headed Shinigami was reduced to nothing more than a typical crater. Rafael had missed whatever sort of technique she had deployed which enabled her to affect this wide scale, but knew it was her all the same. He’d seen what hit him from the corner of his eye. Those damned Roaches once again. So they were still around causing trouble. He hadn’t come across them in some time and believed perhaps they had been eliminated yet it seems that wasn’t the case.
Standing by the crater Rafael could see the orange glow coming from the village. Obviously the place where the Shinigami had been, filled with humans that more than likely wouldn’t think of him as anything more than a stupid animal. Turning Rafael started to make his way back towards his home walking several steps only to stop and flex. “Damnit!” Rafael remarked to himself only to turn back around once again followed up by him jumping to close the distance and do what he could to save as many as he could from the Roaches.
When Kira reached the village she would see that the majority of the buildings were already burning and several bodies littered the street. They weren’t preserved or even recognizable as each of them had been torn apart and tosses aside like broken toys. Screams filled the town, the nearest one coming from a home only ten meters in front of her to the right. Inside she would find one of the Roaches intent on squeezing a young teenage boy. Although she wouldn’t be able to see it this was happening all over the village.
The arm of the roach reached down for the young teen, intent on ending the life of the spirit. Before it could follow through, however, a large blade cleaved through the offending limb. The beast had not but a moment to stop and stare at it, before its entire upper body was impacted by the fist of the shinigami with hair as rad as blood. Kira was snarling, teeth bared in rage at the situation. There was no backup coming for her. The seireitei was days away, even for the fastest of shinigami. She was on her own to protect this district. Her head whipped to face the boy. "Run! Away from the forest! Don't be a hero!" She yelled to him, as she made her way into the burning village.
Building after building was ablaze, and she knew how dangerous it was to walk into an inferno like this, but she would not hesitate. She wasn't the best of people, she knew that better than most. But she had a job to do. She wouldn't let something as insignificant as fear prevent her from saving people. There were dozens of these repulsive bugs, and she cut them down with a manic glee. How dare these things cut down her people!? One of them ran up to her, looking to grapple her. She shoved her ax through its body, exploding the beast in a shower of blood and gore. She let out a war cry, seeking more.
She needed violence. She needed their lives as retribution for their crimes. She would kill them all. Another bug jumped her from behind, wrapping its arms and legs around her, trying to hold her still as three came at her from the front. She merely let out a shrill screech in response, as her zanpakuto turned her body into a living speaker. The vibrations of her body practically melted the one holding onto her, dropping the steaming pile of bug bits to the earth behind her. Two of the three crashed into her, and had their grey matter splattered away. The third nearly got away, but she managed to catch him with the edge of her ax, as she pulled him into her body. What little of his body remained plopped to the ground with the rest of them.
"Everyone! Do not flee to the forests! The monsters come from the forests! Run away from the forests!" Her voice, amplified by her shikai, carried on for miles, clearly able to be heard from an amazing distance away. As she stomped through the burning town, a feeling of nausea started to sweep over her. The lack of clean oxygen was starting to get to her, as she cleared out any buildings that might still contain life. She could feel her head start to pound from the inferno. She had to hurry up, lest she succumb to the noxious gas. The fumes would claim her life faster than any of these pathetic bugs.
