What was a life threatening, and potentially terrifying duel for Tsukuyomi was Sunday for Col. His mind ticked away. Picking away at details about Tsukuyomi. The arrancar was taking note of his stance and preferences and patterns. Thus far, Tsukuyomi had given off the air of a burst-style fighter, who used sudden attacks at an opponent's weak points, before backing off to try again. With perhaps some aspects of a counter-fighter, as Col noted his most formidable offenses came in the form of breaking Col's attack rhythm. That was fine though. Col was all about changing up the tempo. It was his preference, in fact. Never coming at the opponent the same way twice, while maintaining an aggressive offense. Col claimed the initiative in a battle whenever he could, and focused on putting his adversary on the defensive. As long as Tsukuyomi was reacting to him, instead of acting, Col could control the Shinigami's potential responses. And as the fight moved on, he'd begin to narrow down those responses into what was characteristic. Finally, he'd seal the deal, once he had the Vice Captain worked out. It would take a little while, but then. Col was one who liked to play with his food.
"In that case Vice Captain." Col replied. "I shall make of you, a brave, and valiant corpse~" He uttered as he raised his blade. Tsukuyomi darted in to attack Col, answering the arrancar's challenge. Col had not been certain that Tsukuyomi would do so, but that he did, didn't matter. Another piece to add to the puzzle. The Nakabakki was attacking with two blades now, though to combat Col's single, longer weapon. Using a classical, but effective combination of defending with one blade and simultaneously striking with the other. But if Col was the type to be undone by that, he wouldn't still be here. Col abandoned his original plan as Tsukuyomi charged him. Tsukuyomi had closed in too quickly for Col to launch an effective attack to keep him at bay, and the arrancar was forced to step back, to give himself some more space. Even so, attacking into that raised guard was untenable. Col needed to do something about Tsukuyomi's thrust first. Keeping an eye on the raised blade of Tsukuyomi, Col did not cut down, but instead answered Tsukuyomi's thrust by stepping off to the right, before initiating a hammering blow downward. Not at Tsukuyomi though. Col's sword snapped down in sideways arc, as he stepped aside, and he brought his arms down. The European Crooked Cut technique. His Zanpakuto crashed onto Tsukuyoki's Honshitsu, hammering the blade down and away from Col. Col stopped his sword at just below chest height, after deflecting Tsukuyomi's thrust, and then swung his blade out in a light, but fast, horizontal cut to Tsukuyomi's arm-- likely still extended from the thrust. The wound wouldn't be deep-- Col didn't have sufficient rotation from his crooked cut technique. But it would still leave a mark on Tsukuyomi, and weaken him, even if only a little.
The arrancar continued to move off to Tsukuyomi's right, drawing back his blade, and trying to regain his effective measure where Tsukuyomi's blades wouldn't reach him, but his sword would reach Tsukuyomi. This time the arrancar held his blade, point to Tsukuyomi to keep the Shinigami from using that dashing attack carelessly. Col could already feel a slight amount of fatigue setting in. He was having to fight at a much faster pace than he was expecting. Tsukuyomi's speed was certainly an issue, if he wasn't going to use reiatsu techniques. It's fine though. He thought. It wouldn't be any fun if there was no challenge. He added mentally, as he considered what Tsukuyomi might do next. The high guard wasn't going to work here. Those dashes meant he could get in at Col before the arrancar could slash at him. Col would have to keep Tsukuyomi on-point at almost all times. The arrancar continued to circle, before driving in with his flurry of attacks once more. Or so it seemed.
Col darted at Tsukuyomi, with a spearing thrust for Tsukuyomi's stomach, eyes focused and ready. If Tsukuyomi chose not to defend the blow, of course, he'd end up with a sword in his belly. If Tsukuyomi did attempt to parry Col's cut, however, the arrancar would redirect his blow, transitioning into an undercut to Tsukuyomi's wrist. If the Nakabakki was particularly unlucky, such a blow could potentially take his hand clean off. Col would then reverse with another false-edge cut at Tsukuyomi's shoulder, and ending his two-strike sequence with the Nakabakki on-point again, and making it difficult to simply rush at the Arrancar. Though, he wouldn't have a chance to do that if Tsukuyomi ended up impaled on his sword. Though if he did end up that way, the attack sequence was a sacrifice Col was perfectly willing to make.
