...Because we Vizards clearly need more power, amirite?
Technique Name: Kurayami: Kurai Kugeki (Darkness: Dark Void)
Class: 3
Technique Type: Other
Usable By: Vizard
Technique Element: Spirit
Technique Description and Effects:
One of the more documented abilities among Vizards is the use of the Hollow techniques Cero and Gran Rey Cero, enabling them to attack at a distance using masses of condensed spiritual energy. Kurai Kugeki uses the same general concept and at first, seems to be nothing more than a simple Bala in speed and size. On impact, it’s simply concussive force, and though it can be painful in the hands of a spiritually strong person, its real effect isn’t the damage done on contact: the trick is what comes after. Kurai Kugeki is infused with the user’s very spirit, and once struck, it immediately takes hold, merging the a portion of the user’s spirit with the victim and increasing the density of their soul.
When released, the user can sacrifice up to 25% of their Spiritual Pressure stat and release it into this technique. Maximum and current Reiatsu are reduced accordingly (i.e. 3000/4000 and 3500/4000 would both end up as 3000/3000). When struck, the victim gains an equal amount of Spiritual Pressure for the duration of this technique, their maximum Reiatsu increasing by the same amount although their current Reiatsu remains the same. At first, this technique seems to simply be a bonus to the victim, but in truth, it’s as much a curse for the unwary.
Once struck by Kurai Kugeki, the victim finds their Reiatsu sluggish, slow to respond, forcing additional costs in order to make use of it. After being struck, the victim has all Reiatsu costs doubled, causing them to pay more Reiatsu to force through their extra-dense spirit. That Reiatsu is absorbed by the user’s soul fragment, reducing its density by an amount equal to the amount of extra Reiatsu paid. At start, the technique’s spiritual density is equal to 10x the amount of Spiritual Pressure given; for example, if the user sacrifices 200 Spiritual Pressure, then the starting density is 2000. The victim is forced to deal with doubled costs until they have spent 2000 extra Reiatsu or the technique ends at the removal of the user’s Vizard Mask.
How to use technique:
The user gathers their spirit as they gather Reiatsu, releasing both in the form of a compressed Bala.
Technique Drawbacks
Aside from the 400 base Reiatsu cost, which is deducted after the loss in Spiritual Pressure, this technique costs 200 Reiatsu per post to maintain. If the technique misses, the user’s Spiritual Pressure will remain reduced for one post after the use, at which point it will return to the pre-use value. If it hits, however, the user will only regain an amount of Spiritual Pressure equal to one-tenth of the remaining density at the technique’s end (i.e. if 800 density is left over, then the user will only regain 80 Spiritual Pressure). If the opponent’s highest spiritual stat is equal to or greater than the remaining density of this technique, then costs are only increased by 50%, and if it is double or higher than the remaining density, then costs are only increased by 25%.
Finally, like all Kurayami techniques, this one ends with the removal of the user’s Vizard Mask, limiting its impact to the duration of the mask. Otherwise, it ends naturally when the remaining density reaches 0.
