The roaches approach to the reptile had been made difficult by the swooping attacks of the eagle. Each time it tried to approach what it recognized as the biggest thread, Nesr would swoop in and slam her staff into it at a different part of its body. While it was physically stronger than her, it didn't mean those thwacks pushed by Nesr's own high strength and momentum couldn't slow it down. Each time it was struck along the cracked portions of its exoskeleton the damage spread further. It's filthy, greenish white blood, splashed out from between those cracks a few times with each hit. Yet its focus was focused on the recovering reptile. It recognized that if the reptile was killed first, it could kill the other two much easier.
It came to this conclusion when it witnessed the sudden rage and power the reptile displayed when Lisa has been hurt. Umaroth was the biggest threat. It had its own problems with handling more than one opponent anyways. Alone it could have probably defeated Umaroth, or any of them, but it had to deal with all three of them. Its eyes shifted away from Umaroth as it turned its focus to Nesr. It chose to deal with her when her next attack came. It would reach for her staff and pluck it from her, and chances were it would slam the bird into the ground with its strength. But it didn't get the chance.
Its approach was stopped. It crumbled downwards as its ability to use one of its legs was stopped. Lisa had, even in her damaged state, inched herself to the insect while it had been distracted with the other two and had begun digging her way into its leg. She ripped and teared through exoskeleton and muscle trying to bring the beast down. Her efforts worked. But at what cost? The insect turned to look at the other insect that was eating into its leg. Like a striking snake it grabbed Lisa. Fingers wrapped around her already damaged body with that intense pressure and ripped her away from its leg. Finally. There was an expression on its face. Its lips had peeled back to reveal its teeth. Its lips pulled downwards. Its expression was one of anger.
It had become annoyed. It had become angry. It was going to kill her. It was going to crush her to death. At least it wanted to. A blow to its head from Nesr caused it to loosen its grip on Lisa for a split second, the blow stunning and dazing the roach for a moment. That moment was all that was needed. Umaroth's roar ripped through the woods as the reptile charged, bellowing with all his might. Rage had consumed the beast. The ferality within him was on full display. The insect turned, trying to react with dazzed vision and a useless leg, but it was pointless.
The reptiles claws suddenly shimmered with light as energy was channeled into them. He swung upwards with his right hand, slamming it into the shin of the reptile and causing it's head to turn upwards from the force. But that wasn't all. Umaroths fingers, the nails enhanced by the technique he used, had punctured through the chin and were now wrapping themselves around the roaches low jaw. Wrapping his fingers around teeth, lip, and chin, Umaroth yanked the roached backwards. It didn't have any choice but to follow, else it would lose its lower jaw.
Umaroth spun and swung the roach over his body with his strength, slamming the roach head first into the earth and causing an explosion of dirt and debris. It had released Lisa during this time. It needed its other hand. Umaroth pulled his free arm back and began wailing on the roaches head. He was desperate. He was trying to crush its head. Crush its brain. If it didn't have a brain it wouldn't live. But he wasn't thinking that clearly. He didn't notice how the roaches own finger nails had extended and began to glow. He didn't notice until the roaches arm had embedded itself into his stomach.
The explosion of pain caught his attention. But Umaroth wasn't going to stop. He sank his claws into the side of the roaches head and roared. The muscles between his scales bulged and thickened as he used every ounce of his strength to tear the roaches head from its body. He stumbled backwards as he held the head high above him, the arm slipping out of his stomach. Blood gushed from his stomach wound as he staggered backwards, throwing the roaches head away from him. He gasped for air as if he couldn't get any in. Tremors still racked his body as he stared at the roaches twitching corpse. He watched as its body moved on its own without a head. It's arms would flex, bend, and reach without control.
His foot found itself stomping onto the corpse of the roach. He found himself stomping on its repeatedly. He found himself smashing it into a pile of goo in the forest floor. His wound kept bleeding. The pain kept stinging at him. But he continued to smash the roach. Finally he pulled his head back and roared into the sky. His bellow fizzled out before he turned to look at the crumbled form of Lisa. Words couldn't express the gratitude he had for her in this moment. She had served her role as a soldier as best she could...and what she had done had been what let them win. Nesr as well. Nesrs contributions couldn't be ignored either.
His blue eyes began to lose that fire that burned in them just moments prior. He looked at Lisa, then to Nesr, before they rolled upward behind his eyelids. His balance was lost as his leg moved backwards. He met the ground as he succumbed to his wound. Blood loss and shock were a deadly combination. But they had won. They had won.
