A simple but vague question, so I guess I should try and narrow it down. There's certainly a line at which the alteration is too great. So what I really want to know is, where is that line? What would be the things someone could never change?

The limits of change scale with the IC actions and events backing it. Given enough development and effort and work it should be plausible to accomplish what need be done

That was an extremely fast response, thank you for that.
Flexibility based on effort is admirable. Though plausibly is a hard thing to measure, especially in wanting to change things that have already been said, it's a definite answer, nonetheless. Since I can't measure out the backstory changes in a normal way, I'd take too many threads to change it. Better I just start over this time.
Thank you again for answering.
Edit: I've decided to talk to the mod who approved my past work, specifically, before I try playing again. I have doubts I don't think anybody else could help with.

Using this thread rather than make another one over two questions, both related to going down in class to loosen constraints on race.
The first is, can a failure become something else? Not be cured of the condition, but start over as something else, from Eighth Class? I ask this because I have realised that Ren is difficult to use as-is. It drains a certain amount of fun out of fights when one participant can't be hit without causing a double loss. And I would rather find an IC emergency exit to earmark for later, if it becomes absolutely necessary.
The second is, can a fifth to third class hollow be re-aplllied as a Eighth class arrancar, and then class up like a new character would from there? I know that non-vasto arrancar are normally punished for going through the change IC.

I might have to ask Col about this, but my opinion is that you can always recreate your character as anything you want even without literally killing them off. The downside to this is you essentially lose their current "life" and experiences, but you can re-app as whatever and just shape your powers around the new race. If you want to keep their current character development, then you'll need to kill them off and start over as an in-character thing. My assumption is that you can say a Failure died, became a plus, and was later reincarnated if you want a human. You can spin it any way you want, really. But that's my thought!
Second, yeah. But, again, you'll lose your development in this case since it'll be starting over from scratch rather than following the path.
