So obviously people are very familiar with cutback. You make any impact-based attack and as a result you get recoil. But my question is: Is cutback scaling to the force applied? Not in a nitty-gritty splitting-hairs kinda way. I mean naturally, if you reel back and put decent effort into a punch then yes youre gonna get the good ole full cutback effect.
But what if you, say, step up behind someone, push a blade to their back, and then slowly slide it in? Or what if you're just playfully giving someone a rap on the shoulder with their knuckles? Is the effect lessened?

Good question. With the way cutback is written in the rules, it seems like it is not scaling. Therefore, it probably doesn't scale, but I'm no mod, so if mods decide that cutback does scale, than that might call for a small edit of the rules. Nothing major, but just some clarification on how cutback scales.

I think that our site allows enough flexibility in its freeform style that yes, cutback would scale situationally. We already have it scale so that a punch doesn't cause cuts, so I think that yes, other less physical attacks would cutback less. That being said, I think the analogy of slowly putting a blade through them would suffer a loooong and drawn out cutback. Would be quite unpleasant. But again, I don't think a pat on the back would make any sort of feeling of cutback. It's not an offensive gesture and not an attempt to clash spirit to spirit.
We already have it scale so that a punch doesn't cause cuts,
Wait what? What does it cause then?
Lice.
