Thread Title: Showcase Match: Clouded Mirrors Participants: Asmoskon Masurao, Kagami Murai World: Soul Society Death Setting: Non Death Enabled Rating: R Location: A bar in the Rukongai, most likely owned by Raion Souretsu, a relatively seedy dive. The bar is empty, save for a bartender, and the tables are moved so they line the walls, with one table in the middle of the room, and two chairs at it. Special Conditions: First post is whoever does so first. Winner will receive a custom item. Other than that, this match is a normal PvP, no holds barred. It is worth noting that this thread will not affect the outside canon, such as with faction points, or plot development (unless all members are okay with it doing so). Play nice, settle things peacefully, and please don't be a drain on mod time with rulings. Circumstances: This bar is a seedy one, and honestly, a Vice Captain of the Gotei 13 has no right to be here. But right now, Kagami Murai isn't acting as a Vice Captain, and the person meeting him is unlikely to recognize him as one. Asmoskon Masurao contacted Kagami as a possible partner in selling weaponry on the Soul Society black market. Unfortunately for Kagami, this meeting is actually a cover for the real purpose of the trip:
Collecting the bounty that's been placed on Kagami's head.
West Rukongai District 37 is becoming dangerous. It has always been a bit of a dump. Poor families that could barely stay afloat filled the ramshackle households. The roads were polluted with trash, and few people walked them at night. After all, it was also a center for criminal activity. The influence of the Gotei Thirteen couldn’t quite reach every Rukongai district, so many illicit events occurred within the borders of West Rukongai District 37.
And tonight was no exception. After all, a wanted man had no trouble showing his face in public. Kagami Murai sat at the bar of a run-down pub that was rumored to have been initially funded by Squad 9 Captain Raion Souretsu several years before the crime rate spikes. So why was a Vice Captain sitting at such a bar in a notorious part of the Rukongai. The answer was simple: he wasn’t. Kagami Murai was dead. Soul Society hasn’t heard from him in over eight months. Captain Commander Ningen has yet to give up on the Vice Captain and search for a replacement, but no one else had that much faith. Kagami Murai was dead. Period. End of the story.
But that does leave a couple of questions. Who was the man sitting at the bar? He wore a black trench coat, black pants, and black shirt. The length of the trench coat served to conceal the weapons he carried at his waist. Both were single handed blades. One was a katana-like weapon, though it was slightly shorter than the average katana and appeared to be more suited for one hand. It had a red hilt and blood read sheath. The other was another one-handed blade. It wasn’t just black. The hilt and blade appeared to be drowned in darkness and despair. It was truly an evil weapon, and the man who wielded it kept it tucked in a black leather sheath. The rest of his toys and trinkets were carried in a little pouch by his hip.
But there was something even more peculiar of the stranger sitting on the bar. The strange mask that came around the top half of his head and covered the entirety of his face characterized him more than anything. The mask was marked by a series of circles spaced a small distances between each other. These rings were centered where one may expect the center of his forehead to be. However, the mask didn’t have any facial features. It only had three tear-shaped slots through it that were evenly spaced through on one of the rings. One was at the top of the mask while the other two marked where his eyes were.
But his eyes were not by any means normal. In fact, many of his victims considered them to be terrifying. One was dark, evil, and full of bloodlust. It was a deep crimson red that sought only to kill those it looked into. The other, however, was the complete opposite. It showed an even more fearsome indifference to human life. If the crimson right eye was the killer, this empty left eye was the angel of death. It had no color in it. The only details of the left eye were the pupil and the series of rings that mimicked the mask worn by the man. His appearance was truly fearsome.
And did this man have a name? Yes, and the name was just starting to grow. No one had yet made the connection between this man and the one who participated in the Grimm Brothers’ affair in Oakland a few months ago. After all, this man didn’t look the same. While his clothes were identical, the mask and eyes were different. In addition, he didn’t have a name back during the Grimm Brothers’ affair. Now, his name echoed in whispers through dark corners of the Rukongai.
Douma…
Fear of Douma was beginning to grow. He began as an enigma. Several black market shipments began to disappear at one point, like somebody as attacking them. Finally, one of the escorts returned to his employer alive, with Douma’s consent of course. The escort gave a description and a name. From that point on, Douma only became more infamous. He didn’t discriminate between the black market organizations he attacked. Groups even sought him out for hire as an escort, mercenary, or assassin, all of which were jobs he was easily capable of.
And then he got another job offer from someone he knew from before. It was another man who had been apart of the Grimm Brothers’ affair, the Black Quincy by the name Asmoskon. Kagami – no, Douma didn’t take Hotaru’s lover to be one that dealt with Black Market business, yet suddenly he received an offer regarding the trade of illicit weapons and items. The scenario was definitely fishy, and Douma was a hard person to reach. Asmokon had to dig deep into his resources to manage to get word across to Douma, and the man maimed the messenger right after Asmokon’s request was delivered. It was an act that served only to intimidate the Quincy. After all, Douma didn’t want Asmokon involved in the same dangerous business that he participated in, especially because Hotaru needed Asmo to return to her safe and uninjured.
But Douma accepted the request anyway. Why, you may ask? Because the humane part of him – the Kagami part – was barely breathing. Kagami owed Hotaru his life and more, so when someone close to Hotaru makes a request, he can’t decline. Asmokon’s intentions were mysterious, especially since he wouldn’t recognize Douma from any past meeting. However, Douma was capable of handling the situation if things went south. Worst case scenario: Douma might just get to have some fun.
