Arc 3: Canon Z-1: Whispers of Rebellion

Name: Arc 3: Canon Z-1: Whispers of Rebellion

Participants: Shinigami and Beast-Clan; Class 8-6 preferred. Up to Class 4 will be allowed for both, though only if if they are lower than Third Seat for Shinigami.

Location: Soul Society, both Seireitei and Rukongai

Plotline:
Odd events have been occurring of late. In wake of the war with the Vandenreich, the release of Hell on the world, and everything else that had happened in recent times, one would think a relative time of peace was due to Soul Society. However, it seems that such quiet would never last; there have been whispers among the spirits within the Rukongai, rumors of an uprising. However, it is something that none of the Shinigami forces have been able to nail down; sources have always been able to slip away the moment anyone of any rank came near. It is as though there are informants among the middle ranks, or worse, conspirators. In this belief, Soul Society has been forced to take a new approach: they have recruited those at the bottom of the rung, and even those outside of it, in an attempt to discover the plots brewing. Could there be a rebellion on the horizon? How far does it extend? It is up to the participants to figure out what is going on. Even if you can't stop the rebellion, gather information for the higher-ups to be able to act.

Shinigami who are brought into the investigation will receive orders from their Captain or someone else of high rank, depending on the individual. Beast-Clan will be hired, bribed with simple pleasures to gather basic information. Note how you are introduced to this investigation as part of your introduction. Individuals may work separately, though it is recommended that they work together.

Zahra was roaming around the forest, which was now the norm for her. Ever since she had moved into that huge cave with her mate, she never really felt the need to go back into the area she used to live. She was starting to enjoy just exploring the forest near where they lived. It was quiet and calm, which did well for her mate, but she did miss the hustle and bustle of being in the actual city. She also missed all the shiny things that she would steal off people to play with herself.

It was that facet that she missed the most. So, because today she seemed to miss it the most, she decided to quietly sneak away from her mate and venture back into the sections that were called Rukongai. She quickly made her way to Rukongai, staying close to the treeline. This time, however, she wanted to see the area that her mate kept glaring at. The place where the black and white people lived. She was always bad about being curious and now it was getting the best of her.

She ventured into Rukongai, with the inhabitants a little wary of her, but she ignored them. She immediately started to look for shiny things and that's when she spotted one of the black and white people. They really interested her, so she started to walk up to one of them. He turned around and was a little startled to see her walk up to him. It was then that she noticed something shiny on him and immediately honed in on it. She smiled and it freaked him out a little more. Before she could get closer, he held a hand out.

She stopped in confusion, tilting her head to the right. What was the point of holding a hand out like that. She knew that the black and white people could shoot things out of their hands, but it didn't seem like he was doing that. He then held out the gold that she had noticed. Her ears perked up, her tail swishing from side to side a little impatiently, wanting to just take the gold. When she got closer, he pulled it back towards him, which made her growl a little bit.

He then started to speak. Her ears twitched, letting him know that she was listening, but her eyes were focused on the gold in front of her. She was catching a few words, but she still really couldn't understand a lot of what the man was saying. What she got from all the words that he was saying is that she would receive the shiny gold if she gathered information for them in these districts. She nodded agreement and once he handed over the gold, he quickly made himself scarce.

She, however, grabbed the gold and rubbed her face against it, wanting to add her scent to it. She then smiled down at it and put the gold in her pockets to add to her little collection of shiny things back in the cave. But, she had no idea where to go now and what to ask. She scratched her head with one long fingernail while grabbing up a piece of bark. She then started to chew on it and started to walk through the Rukongai district, trying to figure out how to start asking questions.

Zeferoth made his way through the forest in the direction of the Rukongai. He made it a point to never come near the place unless he had no other choice, and it seemed that this time he didn't. Food was scarce in the part of the forest which he inhabited. He was hungry, and didn't have the strength to search for long periods of time anymore let alone take down anything large enough to sate his appetite. He knew that food was available in the Rukongai, if he could get past the two legs.

He made his way through the outer part of the Rukongai making people scramble in fear of him as he passed. These people had a reason to be scared of him. He was a seven foot tall beast man taking the form of a large honey badger. He prowled the streets on all fours and smelled around in search of food, and the look in his eyes told everyone he was not in the mood for any sort of confrontation. He homed in on a stand of meat which this owner promptly abandoned. 

Zeferoth learned his lesson from last time, and only took several pieces of meat and was about to flee when another one of those two legs in black appeared in front of him. He had tried to fight one before and only received a large scar on his chest for his efforts. This time he was wary of what they were capable of and watched the hand closest to the sword. He didn't seem agitated at all. In fact he seemed somewhat happy to find Zeferoth. He grabbed another piece of meat from the stand putting something on it and took a bit himself. 

He told Zeferoth that he was looking for someone to look around for any information about a rebellion. Zeferoth did not know what a rebellion was, but there was one thing he did know that he would not turn down. The man was offering food for this information, and he was never one to turn down a free meal. Zeferoth agreed in his broken speech and ran off to find the information before he got hungry again. 

He sniffed the ground thinking that information was something that could be tracked like any other hunted beast. He didn't even know what Information smelled like. All he could really smell were two legs, and one scent that was different. He fallowed the scent and came upon another beast man, well beast woman this time. She seemed to be as confused as he was just a moment ago looking around for something. Zeferoth approached cautiously smelling the air around her.

“Did you hear what that new guy was saying?” Zahra would be stopped in her exploration of the Rukongai as someone spoke in an adjacent street, likely two of the Pluses that lived in the area. It wasn't unusual conversation; after all, people found the strangest things to be “odd.” But before she could get out of range, she'd hear more, this time from a second voice, a female. “Yeah, that guy who just came from the World of the Living? He said something about 'a time of judgment' over and over. I don't know what's up with him; maybe he hit his head on the landing?” The two laughed, their voice remaining stationary; likely they had stopped to converse, rather than continuing. “I don't know, he just seems crazy. You don't see it often, but it does happen.”

“I don't know... he's not the first.” Stunned silence followed before the woman asked for an explanation. “Yeah... he's probably the fifth or so I've seen in the last two weeks, odd as that sounds. I mean, they're not all 'judgment is coming' like he is, but they're all equally strange, and lately, they've been gathering. I don't know what they're doing, but I'm going to stay out if it. If they want to be crazy, let them. They can't harm anyone, they're Pluses like us, after all.”

“I don't know... do you think we should tell a Shinigami, let them know just in case?”

“Nah... in fact, I think I saw three Shinigami confronting them the other day. They were talking really quietly, though the leader didn't look too happy, before all of them walked away together. Those fools are probably locked up or something.” The voices suddenly got louder suddenly, and before Zahra could hide, the two speakers came around the corner. Both were standard Pluses, a tall man with long blonde hair, and a woman with mid-length red hair. Both were dressed in casual, somewhat disheveled clothing as per normal with Pluses. They didn't notice the jackal at first, continuing their conversation. “Still, it's strange, don't you think? People gathering like that and acting strange—” The conversation cut off as they noticed Zahra's presence, freezing for a moment. Then the man relaxed with a sigh of relief. “Oh, it's just one of those animal-people that have been showing up lately. Go on, git!” The man tried to shoo the Beast-Clansman away in annoyance.

Even if the jackal didn't move, the two would just go another way, talking among themselves again. The woman sounded disdainful. “Hmph, to think they let those savages into Soul Society at all; what are they anyway? I'm surprised the Shinigami haven't exterminated them; they're practically the same thing as Hollows! Monsters, all of them.” Slowly the two would start to leave Zahra's sight, but she had a choice; she could follow, hoping to learn more about what the two were talking about before, or she could start looking around for herself, perhaps contact a Shinigami if she could put her thoughts on the subject into proper questions. Either way, a decision would have to be made, though it would likely become more complicated as Zeferoth showed up, approaching her suddenly. Would they discover that they shared the same mission, and work together? Or would they foul one another up in their desire to claim their rewards?

Zahra was randomly walking around the Rukongai district she found the black and white person, honestly not knowing what to do. She looked around, flicking her ears back and forth, trying to pick up anything that might be of interest to the black and white person. She still barely understood what he was saying, but this 'information' thing sounded pretty important. It was then that she picked up a voice and she stood where she was. She looked around, but didn't see a good place to actually hide herself, so she just stood there, moving her ears to try to pick up everything that the people were saying.

Her tail flicked from side to side as she listened, trying to piece together what these people were saying. When she heard the world of the living, she thought back on that one place she visited with all those different smells. She thought back, liking the smells of that new place, but didn't like what was going on there when she was there. The good thing that happened out of it was that she was able to meet another like her, Caedir if she remembered his name correctly. He was also the first cat she had ever met, so that was also something interesting.

Then, they mentioned something about a 'time of judgement.' She cocked her head when she heard that. She thought about the word 'judgement' and had honestly never heard the word before. She didn't even know how to place the word, she was so unfamiliar with it. Because of this, the word stuck out in her mind. They then called him 'crazy,' and she did know that word. She knew that it was like if an animal went rabid. So, every time she heard the word 'crazy,' she immediately thought of 'rabid.' She then heard 'Pluses,' which she knew the people that lived here called themselves.

They wanted to tell shinigami, which, if she remembered correctly, is what the black and white people are called. She heard a no and that black and white people talked to them and walked with them. Zahra was thoroughly confused now. She had no idea that the black and white people would talk to people that lived out here. From what she had seen of this place from her short time living in the districts, they didn't seem keen to work with them at all. Zahra was completely lost in thought now, trying her best to make sense of all the things she had heard.

It was because of this that she was completely oblivious to the people that she was listening to started to walk her way and actually make it around the corner. She heard about people gathering and acting strange before they stopped. Her ears flicked from side to side, just now registering that they weren't talking anymore. She then looked towards them, cocking her head to the right while looking at them. She had not seen these people before, but they froze up looking at her. She then straightened up, turning to face them, ready to move if needed.

When one of them relaxed, she honed in on the one that was still tense. She was giving off the aura of prey and Zahra was smarter than an average animal, but she was still an animal. She couldn't ignore the instinct of prey, since she herself was a predator. Then, she watched as the man tried to shoo her away. She chuckled, though her chuckle was a mix between a yip and bark. They honestly couldn't believe that that would make Zahra leave. She left when she wanted and right now, she was a little annoyed with them. She watched them walk off.

Her ears flicked in their direction, listening in on what they were saying. She knew the word 'savages,' the black and white people, 'exterminate' sounded familiar and she knew 'monster.' She had been called that before. So, they were talking about her and about 'exterminate' her. Well, it was either just her or her entire kind. It sounded like end, so she immediately thought that the word meant end of life, a.k.a. death. Thankfully, she was correct on this assumption and it made her more annoyed. She growled in their direction, wanting to follow to see if they said any other nasty things.

But, then, she remembered that that black and white person wanted 'information,' and it seemed fairly important and she did have, more than likely, what the shinigami wanted. But, she was way more curious about what these two people were going to say. It was then that she caught a new scent in the air. She quickly turned and her eyes got a little bigger. It seemed that all the other beast clan she had met lately had been much taller than her, besides Ajraka of course. He looked like an animal she had met while she was alive. Since she met her mate, more of her memories started to come back.

She did remember, as a pup, running into an animal like him. Her parents told her to stay away from them. They drilled it home when they followed the animal and watched it take on a cobra and live. Her eyes had widened and she made sure that that animal was imprinted in her brain so she would never forget. Now, she saw one that was so much taller than her, she almost shrank back. Almost. She stood her ground, keeping her senses on alert as it came towards her. Her ears kept flicking towards the receding voices. She wanted to follow, because her curiosity was getting the better of her. She looked towards the man. "Zahra follow people. People information. Zahra asked information." She then ran after the two, hiding in the shadows along the way. She was basically saying that she was following those people because they might have information.

Zeferoth was fairly close to the Jackal girl when he heard voices as well. They were talking to each other saying words which many he did not understand at first. They didn't seem to have noticed Zeferoth when they noticed the Jackal girl. Zeferoth found it odd since he was so much bigger than her, but he was not too concerned with that. All he understood from them was they wanted men in black to kill beastmen. That was making Zeferoth angry. He snorted in irritation, but hearing the Jackal girl speak got his attention off them for the moment. 

"Zahra follow people. People information. Zahra asked information." So, those were information? Zeferoth was beginning to make the connection. Before he can talk to the Jackal girl, she was already off after the two two-leggers and seemed to disappear. Zeferoth thought that he should do the same. They were information. If he brought them to two-legger in black, then he would get meat and eat well for long a time. 

Zeferoth went down a side street heading in the same direction as the Jackal girl and the two leggers. He would be able to stay within earshot of the two while he kept parallel of them from the other side of the street. He had to dodge and move around other people of course, and even scale over a small wall that blocked his way. He was rather stealthy, since he was well versed in the ways of hunting. That was all that this was to him hunt. He will kept his senses open to his surroundings as well in case something else caught his attention.

The cool breeze of day drifted through the streets, bringing forth whispers and conversations of various degrees of interest. Ramblings of woman, the fighting of men and of course the crying of children. The land of the dead wasn’t dead at all. It was full of rumors, lies and of course at least an ounce of truth. But one man in particular could care less about any of that well at least if he could help it. He had been given the task to investigate, his lowly standards in his squad had seemed to work awkwardly against him.

To his dismay there was no getting around this, he was well stuck with doing an actual job other than purifying hollows. He certainly was able and with the fact that Kimoko had recently attained the rank of captain, he was alone in this endeavor which was more like a choir to the pale faced reaper. Nestling himself into a wall besides one of the many buildings that scattered Rukongai, it would seem that he had practically stuck up his middle finger to his ‘job’.

This wasn’t uncommon for him to do, he had done this plenty of times while in the academy. Treating this like any other job given to him by his superiors he simply brushed it off and decided to take a nap. He wasn’t a people person and he had made that rather apparent when becoming a Shinigami. Having him investigate was a complete joke, he avoided people for a living. Asking them questions, especially getting information from them was definitely not in his list of skills.

Instead of going to them, someone would have to come to him. Resting himself under the shade, keeping the rays of the sun off his head with but a straw hat. He had roughly heard the murmurs of a man and woman as they abruptly cut themselves off to shoo off a female beast clan member. It was an action one would make moving a dog or cat away from you and it bled of the ignorant belief that these creatures were mere animals. His blue gaze would linger beneath his hat as he faintly lifted it for a better look.

He wouldn’t have been surprised if there had been some confrontation from this event and he would intervene if necessary but that had not seemed to be the case. Perhaps this jackal was used to such naivety and had gained patience for his kind over the years. A good trait not easily overlooked by the pale faced reaper. "Zahra follow people. People information. Zahra asked information." Oh looking for information are we? The dialect was rather broken but Aevus understood what was going on. He had been informed that her folk may also be aiding in this investigation and like a hound it had seemed she had already caught onto the trail of two suspects.

In the corner of his eye, a lumbering shadow danced past him and he would spot the figure of another beast clan, this one resembling a badger of some kind. It had seemed he wasn’t alone after all in this investigation and well with a carefree attitude things had certainly came to him. This was one of those situations where his laziness had paid off. Lifting his straw hat, he would begin to follow suite. Aevus would linger behind the two keeping at least a reasonable distance away following their tails literally.

Fortunately it seemed as though the two Beast-Clansmen were not adverse to working together, as they quickly agreed to follow the two people they had heard talking. They were easy enough to follow, the two chatting freely; they didn't seem suspicious or wary, merely two friends having a conversation as they went along their way. Following wouldn't yield anything right away, either, as the conversation changed to more general topics. Yet the Pluses had been discussing the potential for rebellion before, and though they may not be involved, it was always possible that they knew more. So the Beast-Clan following would have no choice but to follow, with Aevus keeping a short distance away. How would they react to a Shinigami following them, anyway?

After about twenty minutes of following, however, the conversation finally shifted back to something more relevant. “Y'know... I just thought of something.” The man said as they left a small group of people behind, looking back at the group thoughtfully as he spoke. “Those guys had an interesting tattoo, those ones I mentioned before. The ones who were gathering? Yeah, those guys. It was strange, sort of like a Christian cross, but inverted. Looked like something twisted around it too, I don't know what it was, but I saw it briefly.”

The woman with him seemed a bit confused at the sudden topic. “Yeah, what about it?” The man was silent for a few more minutes until that group they had passed had disappeared around a corner, and then he finally spoke up. “Those guys we just passed... one of them had that same tattoo. I've never seen anything like it; is it a trend going around or something?”

“Hm... come to think of it, I think I know what you're talking about. The symbol, anyway.” The man leaned in interested, and it was likely that the two Beast-Clan members would be leaning in as well to hear what was being said. Aevus, unfortunately, would be too far away given that he was pursuing the pursuers, but at least he'd see who the two animalistic figures were following. “Y'know, I saw that symbol in District Ten when I was visiting a friend there. It was painted on a wall, though it was kind of out of the way; we only happened upon it because I took a wrong turn and got us lost.”

“Huh. You don't say. Sounds almost like a cult now, doesn't it?” The man laughed, shaking his head. “Well, it's not our problem. As I said before, the Shinigami already know about it, considering that they were talking with some of the individuals, so I'm sure that they'll keep an eye out. Me, I'm just thirsty thinking about this so much. Why don't we go somewhere and get a drink, maybe relax away from all this cult talk. It's a nice day, after all.” With that, the two turned down another side street, heading for a nearby bar, the Mane Attraction. Following them further would be senseless at this point.

So now, two more options had opened up. That group that had been passed had been left behind about fifteen minutes past, meaning that locating them would be difficult, but not impossible. They could be confronted or followed, whatever the three pursuers thought was best. Or, there was that location at District Ten, one that might be a meeting place for a group of potential rebels; they could check it out, or even report it to the Shinigami that had hired them. Perhaps it would be enough for a reward, but perhaps not; who knew how picky their employer was? Still, paths had become available, and the three would have to make their decisions.

Zahra was still following the two souls that had spoke about the cult, which she figured that was the information that black and white person wanted. She went as fast as she dared, sticking to the shadows as much as possible to stay out of the way to listen to these souls speak. It wasn't anything that seemed really important, just talking about general things that seemed to be going on. Zahra was getting a little on the impatient side, hoping that these souls would soon start talking about the things that she was interested in.

Right before she was about ready to turn around and just leaving to head back to her cave, one of them spoke about something called a tattoo and it peeked Zahra's interest. She cocked her head to the side, thinking about what a tattoo was. She did see some of the black and white people with black stuff on their skin and she thought she remembered them calling that tattoos. She then heard a Christian cross inverted with something twisting around it. Zahra didn't know what a cross was, but when she heard that they passed someone, in that group, that had one, she looked behind her quickly.

The group was out of sight, but she tried to remember the symbol they spoke of, or at least the words, since she didn't know what a cross was. Then, they mentioned that the symbol was also found on a wall in a different district, numbered ten. Though, it was out of the way, which she thought was interesting. Most of the things that she saw them do would be out in the open in front of a lot of people. For them to hide something, it didn't feel right to her, like it was something that would be frowned upon. It was definitely something new for her.

Then, they mentioned cult and she was lost. She had no idea what that word meant and had no idea how to even compare it to maybe another word she had heard. Because of how unique it was, it would for sure be stuck in her memory. Then, they mentioned the black and white people talking to them again and it still bothered her. If they were already talking to these people, why would they need her to find information? She was a little puzzled. She stopped then, waiting for them to turn the corner before she walked out into the street.

She stared at the walking Pluses, then looked across the street. She knew that the badger was over there. She had kept an eye on his location while listening to those people. She would wait for him to join her in the street. "You hear all? Not know tattoo or cult words. Zahra go group people. You ten district for symbol. You stronger, you handle symbol. Zahra small and sneak, find tattoo person." With that, she sniffed the air, trying to find the scent of the group. She would walk, doubling back on the way they came and found the scent of the group. She would ignore the black and white person, since he wasn't doing anything to her, she wouldn't do anything to him. Now she wandered around, following the old scent of the group through the shadows, in the hopes of finding them soon.

Zeferoth fallowed the pair right behind Zahra. He caught the scent of the two legger in black that had been fallowing them. He was too focused on his target to mind him too much, but he kept that two legger in the back of his mind as he continued to fallow the Jackal girl. He made his way swiftly down the street despite his size moving around people or slamming past them when he had no way around them. He answered their shouts of anger with a quick glare and snarl before continuing on.

He was able to keep up with their conversation a little better than Zahra due to the long period of time he was around lots of humans before his death in the world of the living. Some of that knowledge must have fallowed him to the spirit world as well. Most of the conversation was nonsense that had nothing to do with the information that interested the two beastclansman earlier, but soon enough more information came to light casually. A tattooed man and a symbol in district ten. When Zahra declared her intention to go after the tattooed man, while he go investigate the symbol he nodded, but first he had someone to deal with.

"You black two legger!" he called out to the man that was fallowing them. He turned facing him glaring at him. "If you fallow, help by guiding to 10." He said in his fractured speech. Though he could understand the common tongue better than most beastclan of his intellect, it was a different matter entirely to speak it himself. He required the aid of the shinigami who know the inner sections of the Rukongai better than he did. He mostly stuck to the outer most districts whenever he dared to come near the place, so he never been to the tenth district.

Aevus was following close behind the beast, his eyes kept narrowly set on the creature before him. As he stopped he would take his time, settling himself by a street corner. Patiently he would wait for any movement at all. Tailing this badger maybe wasn’t the best idea but well it was his only lead in this mission so far. Just hopefully this tall badger wasn’t prone to anger, Aevus detested the thought of having to fight something like that in these crowded streets. Tailing him was obviously a good way to get on someone’s bad side regardless of race. But of course the creature he was following so eagerly, happened to be sporting teeth and claws which would make things worse if he did so happen to anger him.

It must be convenient to always be armed literally to the nail and well it would be lying to say that Aevus wasn’t slightly intimidated by the creatures stature. Humans may have it better off in this world but in battle these beasts seemed more well off to the sport as well having instinct in the very craft. At least the ones that were predators that is. Hunting, killing must come so naturally to them as killing and hunting hollows was for him, more so even. Their bodies were built for the act of the hunt. The thrilling chases and of course the utility to rip open the flesh before them with seamless ease.

They were creatures people commonly spoke ill of but Aevus himself had a fond respect for them. He hung around a particular cougar back in the day. During his first years in Soul society, she was one of few to show him the ropes during that time. Looking at others similar to her kind just reminded the man of those early days. Where he was still lost in the world of the dead with no clue to even his own name. In the beginning he was nameless and like a runt being picked up off the street, this cougar gave him shelter and taught him many lessons he would never forget. She was the one to teach him to be nimble on his feet but alas like him, she was not so keen on friendships.

"You black two legger!" Aevus had been spotted so it had seemed. Still leaning against the wall he would eye the strange beast. "If you follow, help by guiding to 10." Well now that was interesting, the badger had known he was following him the entire time. He didn't overhear the conversation that those others were having but from this it must have had something to do with district 10. "District 10? Well be warned I know the place but not perfectly." Aevus would yawn shortly adjusting his collar as he began to walk. noticing an unfamiliarity in his surrounding he immediately would stop in his tracks. "Ok see, it's the other way." He would attempt at half heartily laughing it off as he turned around but in reality he was in no mood for making mistakes.

Squad 13... Certainly not up for these type of tasks but it did catch Natsumi's attention on acquiring information that could be beneficial for herself and the Soul Society, this quickly gets her to stand up. "Captain! I'll take that responsibility!" and from that point forward this began her new quest of adventure! Quite weird but she knew it was time to get real with this. She was leaving Seireitei
when suddenly she heard tips of something highly unusual about her investigation. It was only brief and it had felt like it was only in the winds but all she heard was... 'Rebellion'. This opened up a lot of thought in her head as this could be this first tip on this.

Yes, she heard this with her Captain of a possible situation of a rebellion but now she knew this wasn't a secret thing. She slowly stepped out of this safe zone and into the Rukon Distract, beginning her search for this problem. She slowly took step by step around, looking around for any suspicious activity but it just seemed somewhat pointless. She walked to stands, asking the shop owners of anything about this and she didn't receive any tips at all from this. How great was this... No information.

She would slowly make a turn to a scene that could be her first tip! Two beast-men and another individual (As one of the beast shouted out loud) were making a scene. She quickly went behind a wall, peeking her eye out towards the scene. It seemed that she may not be the only one that's investigating this after all. She came in at the last moment but she didn't catch all the information the jackal had said. She probably wouldn't be good at hiding after all the bigger beast-man could smell that other individual. She couldn't resist. She has to show herself.

Natsumi popped out of the scene so sudden she looked fairly calm too. She was eager to approach the two beasts but from a distance. She slowly stopped and looked at them from a decent distance. She slowly sighed and spoke, "Have you folks heard of those rumors of 'rebellion'? I'm... Kinda here to investigate that and I'm trying to gather what I can... If you guys are on this too, can I possibly join up? You guys seem like you know what I'm talking about and I'm not gonna hide in the shadows," she said to them. She had her zanpakuto close but surely enough, she's sure they'll take her under their belt.

((OOC: All but Zahra have another round to adjust to the new individual, interacting with one another either before leaving for, or on the way to, District Ten. This post is mostly for Zahra, who is going her own way.))

Zahra would find herself chasing ghosts; though her sense of smell would unerringly lead her in the right way, she would be surprised to find that she could not catch up to the group. Their scent was fresh, maybe minutes old, yet there was no other sign of their passing. Surely they were not running at full speed, as they would have to be to keep ahead of her; the jackal's senses were not good enough to detect any footsteps or heavy breathing ahead, yet it seemed odds that these humans, with no reason to suspect that anyone was following them, would suddenly bolt ahead at a fast speed. But whatever they were doing, it kept them out of sight, leaving Zahra following their trail constantly.

The situation grew worse as she reached a large, open area, a plaza that was normally filled with people during the day, but empty at night. The scents broke off into three different directions, with different concentrations of scent. The strongest headed further into the Rukongai district, while the weakest headed for the exit to the wilderness. The remaining scent went opposite the wilderness, heading towards Seireitei's main gate. Three paths opened up before Zahra, another decision she was forced to make alone. Did she pursue the weakest scent, suggesting the fewest number of people and thus the easiest targets to fight should she be caught, or did she go for the largest group, which may be the most important one because of its size? Or, barring both, did she go towards the third group, who had headed for the Shinigami city, the home of the very people who had hired her?

Zahra kept herself to the shadows, using her nose to keep her in the right direction. The scent wasn't that hard to follow, especially since the scent wasn't that old. What she thought was interesting was that she hadn't heard anyone in front of her. She was going at a decent speed, not too fast nor too slow. But, she had expected, by now, to hear some noise in front of her, some indication that the group she was following was actually still in front of her. She flicked her ears out, in the hopes to catch any stray noise.

But, no stray noise was to be heard. The only thing she could think of now was that this group had started to run quickly after she started to follow them. But, there was no reason for them to think someone was following them. The only thing Zahra could think of was that maybe all people did that, would just randomly start running around. She cocked her head to the side, thinking about that while following the scent. She still didn't completely understand them, so for her, anything was really possible. It was then that she stopped.

The scent had now parted, going three different ways. Zahra looked around quickly to see if there was anyone around, before stepping out of the shadows. She put her nose up into the air, trying to figure out where the scent was going. The strongest scent was heading deeper into Rukongai. The weakest scent was going into the wilderness. She immediately dismissed that one. The scent was too weak and it would be hard to keep that one scent over the stronger scents of the wilderness. He tail flicked absently as she looked in the other direction.

It was leading towards the black and white people's city. She had always been curious about that place. Her mate hated them, so she stayed away. But, now that she was alone, she had a chance to actually go there. They were the ones that wanted her to find this 'information' anyway. Also, she remembers the people saying that others had walked with black and white people, so she could run into those people. Due to her curiosity and that little tidbit of information, she decided to follow the path towards the gate. She hoped she was making the right decision.
