Jak charged forward holding the katana sized stick in a baseball bat grip. He waited till he was at the edge of the sticks reach before he swung as hard and fast as he could. If his opponent dodges the attack, Jak would bring it back up and come down hard with a vertical. If his opponent blocked the attack, he would push himself close trying to pin their sticks together as he pulled his left hand back to punch his opponent in the face.
Kagami gripped his stick in front of his with both hands so that it ran between his eyes as he faced Jak. The man appeared to be attacking wildly, so Kagami was going to react in a more controlled fashion. He would take a step back to dodge the incoming blade, and because of how hard Jak swing his own stick, narrowly dodging the weapon, if you could even call it a weapon, as it sailed from his right to left side. The instant it got out of the way, Kagami would spring to action. Before Jak could recover his weapon to defend himself, Kagami would lunge forward with his right foot, simultaneously extending his own stick in a stab that resembled fencing technique. The jab was aimed at Jak's exposed chest, and due to the follow through for his heavy swing earlier, he wouldn't be able to recover his stick to defend himself in time.

Jak knew that he was unable to pull his weapon back due to the momentum of his hard swing. As the attack came at him, he rolled on his shoulder avoiding the attack and getting to the side of his opponent. He would change his grip from the baseball bat grip to a staff grip quickly jabbing at the man's face with a quick thrust. That was just a feint though and when the man would go to parry or avoid the attack, he would flip the other end of the stick up extending the reach with a step if he moved back, to either side if he dodged to the side, or straight down if he ducked.
Kagami noticed Jak’s grip on his weapon change, and the way he held it by the middle, like a staff, was a huge red flag. It was obvious that he was going to redirect the weapon, making it backtrack and go for an attack on Kagami’s exposed body. Therefore, the Vice Captain brought his left forearm off his blade and up over his face, where the expected target was based off the point that the stick was facing. Even if Jak chose to feint, for Kagami went for a block rather than dodge, it would be easy for him to shift his elbow and forearm to block the stick. It would definitely hurt, but the pain would be worth it for Jak was going to suffer and injury far more severe. Both of his arms were still on his stick, so his body was exposed and he had no way to defend himself. When he let the jab of Kagami’s stick glance off of him, there was a small gap that formed between Jak and Kagami’s own weapon. However, being at the peak of his physical ability, that would be more than enough to build up enough force and speed to knock the wind out of Jak with a well-plcaed forehand slash that would strike directly at the diaphragm, knocking the wind out of the man. He wouldn’t be fast enough to dodge completely, so Kagami would keep an eye on his footing to adjust the strike, ensuring that it hit its mark.

Jak turned his body to avoid the direct hit, instead taking the blow to the ribs. He grunted in pain, but just as the blow landed, Jak grabbed his opponent's stick with his left hand keeping his own stick in his right. While keeping a firm grip on the stick, Jak would then bring his own up feinting high, but going down to hit his opponent in the thigh. The pain would distract him while Jak brought his own back up and came down on his collar bone no doubt breaking it.
