The Vice Captain of Squad 9 was a very happy camper, and for once that wasn't a euphemism. The report had come in - usual shit, crashed meteor in Russia, not even close to some of the weird shit that comes out of there - and the call had gone out for a Soul Reaper of Lieutenant level to "investigate"; in other words, to go there and crack heads until everything leaves. Needless to say, Kubi volunteered before anyone else managed to buckle on their Zanpakutou.
A grin, so wide as to threaten to rip off his face, adorned his face. With the air of a man about to enjoy a buffet, he pulled two gloves out of his pocket. Seemingly basic chain gloves - albeit with a plate of spikes across the knuckles - they quickly dispelled that idea the instant they disappeared from sight. His grin grew, if possible, wider as he flexed his fist. "Fuckin' perfect." His voice was like somebody grinding a bag of gravel in a blender.
"Now, th' real fuckin' question is, do I got th' rest o' m' shit? He went through a quick mental checklist. 'Let's see ... Joo Bachi and Zola ... kinda hard to miss them. Uh ... Diana ... yup, present and accounted for. That nifty as fuck Utility Belt I got from Urahara. Makes carrying shit a breeze. Anyway ... what else? Fuck, right, can't forget about Ol' Reliable.' Ol' Reliable was his Soul Gauge, matte black in color. It saved his ass a couple of times.
His smirk grew from cocky to infuriating as he let his Reaitsu spill out. Not enough to ruin the fun of a fight, but plenty to let any hollow, spiritual being, or blind orphans let him know where he was. "Alright, fuckers! Come at me one at a fuckin' time so I c'n enjoy this shit! Or don't. I don't give two fuckin shits." Kubi wasn't far from the ruins of the town - about a stone's throw from the edge of the town - but hopefully, he was close enough to interrupt the feeding frenzy.

Hotaru Kuchiki, Third Seat of the Eleventh Division, was in the barracks when she heard a mission come in. She stayed around and listened to what the new mission would be concerning. It seemed that a meteorite had stuck in Moscow. The hole left by it was bigger than most of the towns in Russia. She could vouch for that to some extent. She had been to Russia so she knew that that hole had to be pretty massive in size. A small smile appeared on her face. She wouldn't mind heading back to that place. It seemed that hollows had been congregating there.
She didn't hear the last part as she was already securing her zanpaktou to her waistband and walking quickly out of the room. It would be a definite sign that she was taking the mission. She didn't know if anyone else from her squad was following her, but they usually left her alone. While walking to the gates, she was curious if any other shinigami would be there by the time she got there. Once she got to the gates, she opened them, stating her destination. She then quickly walked through them.
Once they opened back up in the human world, she walked out onto a rooftop of a nearby building. She could see the crater from where she was. It was indeed massive. She was looking around the crater and then she felt an enormous reiatsu being let out. She looked around and was able to see someone standing by the hole. She jumped down from the roof and made her way there quickly. Once she got there, she noticed that there was another shinigami there. It seemed that she was getting backup from Soul Society after all.
She walked closer to the man and noticed the badge on his right arm. So, this man was a Vice Captain, and from where she could tell, it was for the Ninth Division. She had never met this Vice Captain before so she figured that she should introduce herself. "Hello Fukataichou, I am Hotaru Kuchiki, Third Seat of the Eleventh Division. It's a pleasure to meet you." After she introduced herself, she kept her senses on alert. She knew that hollows would start to swarm around here. She also kept her senses out for Asmoskon. But sadly, just like all the other times, she didn't feel him.

Russia is a pretty big place, and the vast majority of has a scattered population. The only real population density is in the bigger cities, especially Moscow. And with an extremely improbable stroke of bad fortune, a meteorite strikes the Russian metropolis, creating a huge crater in the center and taking the lives of several thousand civilians. Just think about the odds that of all places in the Earth or even out of all of the land that Russia is composed of, space debris would smash into a bustling urban city instead of an isolated farm or uninhabited mountain side. Such is the luck of ex-Soviets. That’s what they get for trying to take Ukraine. It’s called karma.
And while the spiritually ignorant humans mourned the Russians’ deaths, Hollow activity was stirring in the tragedy-stricken city. Record amounts of white-masked creatures were appearing and taking the lives of unsuspecting humans. Therefore, Kazura made the executive decision to send his loyal assassin, Marcus Cole, to eliminate any Hollow threats (oxymoron much). The Fullbringer flew into the city through an Uzaki Enterprise-owned private jet, taking Marcus into the airport. It was easy for him to grab a cab and find the hotel that he had booked, which he ensured was less than one-quarter of a mile from the crater. Marcus was quick to run into his room, change into his combat suit, and head to the rooftop by exiting his room through the window and climbing up the building via air ground.
Marcus observed the ruined part of the city from the hotel rooftop. The Fullbringer was dressed in a steel black suit with plated armor, allowing for flexibility as well as shock absorbtion. A midnight blue ‘V’ streaked across his chest. His eyes were covered by a dark visor that didn’t hinder his vision. At his waist, Marcus had a pouch full of kunai as well as two eskrima sticks attached to his belt. He was ready for a fight, and although Marcus wasn’t too fond of battle, he was prepared to eliminate all the Hollows in the city if it meant following Kazura’s orders. Kazura’s wish was his command, and Marcus followed the orders he was given. This mission would be no different.
Marcus’s building was taller than and only a few blocks away from the one that Hotaru and Kubi appeared over, allowing him to see the Shinigami with ease. Their vision of him wouldn’t be as clear, however, and because they were looking at the crater, their backs would be to Marcus. He was not an ally to Shinigami by any means, but it would be helpful to collaborate with them if they shared the same task. And that meant team work, which meant communication, which meant talking to other people, which Marcus was not good at. For the mean time, he was going to avoid the Shinigami and stalk them, only revealing himself whenever the situation called for it. He had no doubt that there were plenty of Hollows already out there that he wouldn’t be able to fight all at once on his own.

Moscow was presently in tatters. With monsters running around like crazy, the Russian Government was pouring aid into the city, making sure that they could evacuate as many civilians as possible. As the three Spiritual beings appeared, ready to help out, they would all notice that they were not the first to arrive. None of them would know this, but Xcution had already made their way into the city and set up large pylons around the edge of the crash site. They would be able to see the pylons, and would know the effects very soon, but they would not know where they came from. As they surveyed the site of the crash, a Hollow looking like a cross between a Shark and a Cheetah ran/air swam towards the crater.
Upon getting within twenty feet of one of the pylons, a bolt of lightning shot out of the tower, blasting the Hollow into nothingness. Absolutely nothing was left. However, the humans walking around and surveying the crater site, whether they were foolish or just too curious, were left alone completely by the towers. Whatever they were, they were capable of targeting only spiritual beings. Beings like Shinigami without Gigai. They were, currently, far enough away that they would not be injured, but they would not be able to make their way into the two mile wide crater to investigate without coming up with a solution.
Meanwhile, Kubi's presence was attracting attention. Quickly. Hotaru and Kubi would see four Hollows rushing at them, hunger evident on their faces. These creatures seemed newly formed, not even at the level of Gillian. They would be easy kills, but they would not be the last creatures to emerge from the crater. Thousands of lives had been lost in an instant, which had the capability to not only create thousands of new hollows, but also attract the attention of other hungry beings.
The creatures that were approaching Hotaru and Kubi all looked like bugs. One of them was flying ten feet in the air, with butterfly wings and an ant face. Two of them were rolling along the ground in a ball. The last one had many legs and many arms like a centipede. These bug hollows did not look like anything that would be too difficult to defeat for two Shinigami. Especially a strong Vice Captain and Third Seat such as Kubi and Hotaru.
Marcus too would be faced with a pair of Hollows. These were much less bug related and instead looked like dogs with eel bodies for a neck and head. These dog-eels were quiet, but very aggressive. The necks were snapping forwards at rocks and anything else that moved in the streets below the rooftop which Marcus stood on, and as soon as they sensed him they started to run at him, snapping their long necks in an attempt to bite off his shoulders.
"Fucking ..." He spun around, his eyes falling on the purple haired Shinigami, judging by her choice of uniform. The grin on his face faded by half an inch. "What, th' top brass don' think I c'n handle this shit on my own? Gotta send back up in the form of what, a fifth seat?" He was upset. He was looking forward to doing this on his own. "She's cute, I'll give her that, even if she isn't my type." After all, a guy has eyes. He had to admit, she was pretty, even with her short hair.
Then Kubi gave a shrug. He wasn't the type to let things get to him, and now was no exception. He rolled his shoulders, visible due to the cut off undershirt he wrote, the only piece of the Shinigami uniform he wears. "Ain't no big fucking deal. Welcome t' th' party. Names Kubi. Call me that or fuck off." He smirked down at Hotaru. He enjoyed being taller than people; and at 7'4, it wasn't hard. Despite his jovial attitude, he was contemplative. "Eleventh division, huh? She might be useful after all ... Good to have a hand to count on."
Suddenly, something caught his eye; a solitary hollow, winging it's way towards where, even from here, he could see the milling bodies of human souls. It pays to have sharp eyes. But before he could give a warning or a shout or, really, do anything but open his mouth, there was a sound like a thunder clap, a beam of lightning that impacted squarely with the hollow, and the hollow disintegrated. A sort of choked sound came from his throat as whatever he was about to say choked off.
"Well, fuck ... there, uh ... there ain't shit I c'n say that ain't obvious. Don't go near that fucking tower. Shit, don't get within twenty feet of tha' entire area. 'Less ya feel like being a fucking hole in the ground." For once, his grin had faded to a rather introspective look. "But this complicates shit, don't it? Ya don't hap'n t' know any Kido, would ya? Doubt it, butcha n'v'r know." He looked at the Squad Eleven member beside him. If she didn't, he couldn't judge. Kubi couldn't cast a spell to save his life (which, given the current situation, it just might).
Suddenly, the unmistakable sound. A loud sigh escaped his throat as he turned to face them. "Oh, you have got to be fuckin' kidding me." Even from this distance, he could tell they were small fry. His ability to analyze an opponent was quite honed, and Kubi could tell just from the way they moved that they lacked any real physical power, and a quick check of Ol' Reliable confirmed his suspicions. "Weak mutha fuckers ..." He was disappointed. Even if all four of these guys attacked him at the same time, they wouldn't leave a scratch. Hell, he bet he could crush them all just by flexing his Reaitsu.
But ... he had a better idea. Here was this ally of his whom he knew next to nothing about, other than the fact that she preferred to fight with physical weapons (she was in squad 11, that's pretty much a given). This could be a perfect opportunity to see exactly how she fights. As leader of this mission, it was prerogative to know the capabilities of his subordinates. "Ya got these fucks, yeah? I mean, shit, I've shat this out more powerful th'n them. 'M gonna see 'bout tha' fuckin' tower." He punctuated this with a clap on her back, most likely causing her to be shoved forward.
A plan was already forming in his head. You didn't get to his position without having something approaching brains. Or at least being able to wreck things better than even he can. His eyes fell on the rubble cast off from the buildings and surrounding concrete when the meteor fell. 'Alright ... let's see how it looks my fastball.' He crept as close as he felt was safe - about thirty feet - with three, fist sized chunks of buildings. "Let's see how they like The Catapult." With a smirk at the thought of wrecking this tower, he threw first one, then two, then three of the rocks, arching towards the pylon.
Kubi wasn't an idiot; sitting here as he was, he may as well paint a giant red target on his back. For that reason, every sense was stretched to the breaking point save for sight, which was focused on his missiles. Even his ability to sense energy, measly as it was, was spread out. Anybody trained would recognize a fighting stance when they saw one, despite the seemingly safe appearance; him balancing on the balls of his feet, his hands shaking lightly with his heartbeat. He was ready to destroy anybody who tried to attack him here.

Hotaru watched as the Vice Captain turned around and talked to her. It was pretty obvious that he was pissed. When he talked, it seemed like he wasn't expecting Soul Society to send back up, even if she was a seated officer. She looked up and he was tall, freakishly tall. The height reminded her of Alexander-taichou. This was the second man that she had met that she needed to look up to. Now, she was curious if she was going to start meeting a lot of taller men.
He welcomed her and said his name is Kubi. She remembered that. Though, his foul mouth was getting a little on her nerves, but she would never tell the Vice Captain that. She would keep her mouth shut and just deal with it. He seemed impressed she was of the Eleventh Division. It was obvious he thought better of her for being from that division. No matter to her, a job was still a job and she knew what she needed to do.
She was staring at the meteorite hole when she noticed a hollow coming at them. Well, the more she looked, it seemed like it was swimming towards them. It was an odd thing to watch, but it didn't actually get that far. Once it got close to these four pillars that seemed to surround the meteorite, the hollow got vaporized. Completely. She watched as the pillar zapped it and there wasn't even dust left from the blast. It was an impressive display.
But, she wasn't wearing a Gigai. So, not knowing what would happen if she walked near the pillars, she made a mental note to stay away. She didn't want to get evaporated and destroyed because she was stupid enough to walk near that thing. She didn't see anything on the outside, so she was pretty sure all the stuff that made the pillars go was on the inside. It was at times like this, she wished she was just a little bit smarter. But, oh well.
It was then that she heard the Vice Captain say don't go near the tower. It was pretty obvious that she shouldn't do that. "Yes these pillars do complicate things now and sadly Kubi-fukataichou, I know no Kido. But, it would definitely come in handy right about now." She just stood there trying to think of what they could do. Since he asked, she assumed that he didn't know any either. This was going to get difficult. But, of course, that wasn't the end of it.
She felt some small reiatsu signatures, four to be exact. When the Vice Captain cursed, she looked and could tell that these things were hollows. He called them weak and she went along with what he said. Her energy sensory wasn't that good, but if the Vice Captain thought they were weak, she would agree with him. She watched as the hollows started to come their way. She looked up and saw one of them about ten feet in the air flying in. The others were rolling and crawling towards them.
She unsheathed her zanpaktou and got into her fighting stance. Her feet were shoulder width apart with knees bent. She angled her zanpaktou, with the tip leaning towards her left shoulder and the hilt towards her right hip. She took a deep breath to try to get ready for the hollow. She looked over, thinking that the Vice Captain would be suiting up and getting ready to help her. But, he wasn't going to do that. He had other plans in mind.
He told her that since he's crapped out things stronger than them, she can handle all of these hollows while he deals with the tower. Before she had a chance to say anything, he ran off. She thought to herself that he was fairly full of himself. But, it was true. Now that they were closer, she had no doubt that she could handle all of these hollows by herself. She took another steadying breath before she decided what she should tackle first, the flying one or the three on the ground.
She figured that the ground ones would be the easiest to deal with at the moment, so she ran towards the rolling bug thing on her left. Thankfully, when she reached it, it was just starting to unroll. While it unrolled, she put her zanpaktou over its body and would slash downwards, with her aim to cleave the hollow in to. She looked to the right and the other rolling bug and unrolled and was running her way. The centipede looking hollow was also starting to make its way towards her.
She ran towards the rolling bug first. When she ran towards the rolling bug, its arms reached out towards her to try and strike her. She quickly ducked down and slashed at its abdomen, hoping to cut the hollow in half. She then stood up, avoiding its arms using her zanpaktou, and then went to slash its mask in half. Now that the two hollows should be taken care of, all she had left was the centipede one. She looked at it and it seemed pissed.
Well, either that or hungry, but honestly, the two emotions looked the same to Hotaru when a hollow was running at her like that. But, no matter. The centipede was faster than she thought and almost slashed her. Thankfully, she was much faster than this hollow and was able to easily sidestep its attack. But, with all of its arms, it was able to quickly counter attack her. She had to act quickly before the insect would get her.
While the insect was coming for her, she moved quick enough to get behind the insect, raise her zanpaktou above it and hoped to be able to slice the hollow in half. After that was done, she took a nice deep breath. Then, she felt a presence above her and had almost forgotten about the flying hollow. It was divebombing her and all she did was raise her zanpaktou into the air. So, when the hollow came for her, she ducked her head and her zanpaktou cut the wing in half.
The hollow was flailing around on the ground now and Hotaru walked over to it. But, she underestimated it only a little, because it got on legs and struck out at her with its remaining wing. She would give the thing some credit. It had a lot of courage to keep coming at her. Well, it was either that or stupidity. It was now running to her and it seemed even slower than it was than it was in the air. She put her zanpaktou down, blade facing forward. She put the blade in its way and just let the hollow run itself through on her blade.
Since she was already walking, she decided to walk towards the Vice Captain. She kept her distance from the Vice Captain, just in case he was going to do something and she would get hit in the crossfire. She also kept an eye out for anything that might be trying to go after the Vice Captain while he was trying his best to kill the pillar without Kido and without getting close enough to get zapped. She was curious if anything he was doing was going to destroy the pillar or not.

Hollows were very strange creatures, and the one that Marcus saw in the distance slithering towards them was an anti-Christ. They say that Jesus could walk on water, and this creature was capable of swimming through land. They were polar opposites. And with all silliness aside, Marcus was surprised to see the hollow get disintegrated to thin air by a pylon. It was clearly the work of Xcution, for no other organization would have such advanced spiritual technology. Kazura was catching up, but, for now, Xcution was ahead in their research department. Therefore, they also be able to prevent the tower from striking any human targets, protecting civilians, Xcution members, and Marcus. He knew that those towers were no thread to him.
Marcus’s energy sensory was almost non-existant, but he would be able to detect the reiatsu signatures of nearby foes as long as they were in his immediate vicinity and weren’t concealing themselves. Such was the case of the two new ‘friends’ that were preparing to give Marcus a warm, good-natured hug. But Marcus wasn’t a hugger, so he looked at the mutts with disdain as he prepared for them to near him. He wasn’t going to move his feet at all, for the creatures weren’t worth it. They were slow, as slow as an average human. This wasn’t going to be a challenge at all.
When the first mutt leaped at the Fullbringer in an attempt to bite it, the hound would be shocked to find its neck constricted tightly. Marcus’s hand moved as a lightning fast blur, not giving it enough time to process his movement until the fight was already over. The assassin caught the other canine in a similar manner, and within a span of one second, they were both trapped in his tight grasp. Had they been given the opportunity, the dogs would have struggled to get free, attacking the Fullbringer with their unrestricted claws. However, Marcus gave them no such luxury. The instant that he had both of them in his fists, Marcus squeezed with all his strength and popped each of their heads right off.
It was a gruesome sight to see. Marcus stood holding the limp bodies of two hounds by the remainder of their necks. And on the floor, their heads literally rolled around. He was sure that their eyes were lifeless behind their bone-white masks. For a second, Marcus considered what Harle would think of the scene. Marcus looked like a savage, but that didn’t matter. The fault in his mindset was momentary, for he knew it wasn’t significant what he looked like or what anyone would think of him at the moment, even Harle. He was doing a job for Kazura, and that was all that mattered.
After the task was taken care of and the hollows evaporated, Marcus looked up to see the two Shinigami getting dangerously close to the pylon. Are they stupid?! Marcus exclaimed to himself in frustration. He didn’t have the balls to say such things out loud, but he had more than enough to sprint up to those two and prevent them from getting any further. At full speed, Marcus sprinted toward Hotaru and Kubi. Had they looked his way, they would barely be able to see him. Hotaru would only see a black blur closing the distance without giving her proper time to react. Marcus sped past Hotaru and stood directly in front of the giant Vice Captain, keeping him from moving any closer to the pylon. Marcus stared at the large Shinigami in silence, his tacit message clearly delivered. Kubi should clearly understand what Marcus’s body language was saying: ‘Don’t move an inch.’

OOC: I know that this is the easiest encounter I can imagine and it was supposed to last only a single post, but, in the future, Dancer, please refrain from controlling my NPCs.
Kubi, Hotaru, and Marcus all had different ways of going about fighting and dealing with the mess that was Moscow at this point in time. Kubi wanted to tear down the pylons with rocks so he could get into the crater, Hotaru was busy butchering new Hollows, and Marcus was fighting his own enemies. The fighting styles couldn't be much different either. Kubi's brute force took rocks and flung them at the towers, while Hotaru's grace left the small Hollow squad decimated. Marcus took a completely different route, using his considerable speed to grasp the eel-like necks of the Hollows and tear their eel heads off of the dog bodies.
With the small fry defeated with ease, the three were left to watch and see what the result of Kubi's actions were going to be. As he threw rock after rock, he wouldn't notice a huge amount of damage done. While his strength was considerable, the problem mainly was in the distance combined with the material. The concrete rubble just wasn't strong enough to do more than dent the pylons it struck before crumbling. Even the rebar inside the stone wasn't enough to do much. These were Xcution made towers, made of high quality materials.
Due to the fact that Marcus had to take care of a few Hollows before running after the Shinigami, he wouldn't be able to stop the two before Kubi threw his rocks. However, nothing bad happened as a result of Kubi throwing the rocks. The two remained outside the effective range of the pylons and the rocks were made of physical material, not spiritual. So while his warning had good intentions, it was not necessarily needed. Kubi and Hotaru could have moved ten feet closer to the pylons and still be safe. Any closer, however, and they would die. Painlessly, but they would die.

This Hotaru was skilled. Kubi could see this now. Even though she was a third seat, she had the skill of someone like ... 'Well, shit. Like me. Guess they knew what they were doing when they sent her.' And the way she fought, moving with this ferocity and power. It turned Kubi on just watching it. His eyes fell on her as the third seat walked up. "Toldja it would be easy." He winked at her then, part approval, part suggestive.
A blur distracted him from his thoughts, and suddenly a man was standing in front of him. A human, by the looks of him. And from the fact that he was staring straight at them, a Fullbringer. 'Or a Quincy. Could be a Bount. Shit ...' Not for the first time, Kubi lamented his lack of any real ability to sense energy. But he shook himself from his thoughts to confront this stranger. 'Whoever he is, he's an ally. Or at least, I hope so.'
A snort escaped him. "Nah, I jus' fuckin' figured today was a good day t' die. That's why 'm train's m' fuckin' hardest t' get any closer t' th' fuckin' thing." The sarcasm wasn't so much implied as heaped on top. "Not that it fuckin' matters. When the shit did humans get such durable fucking materials?" His eyes, even as he was engaged in conversation, was following the downward trajectory of the stones, his brow tightening as they only left a dent.
"So, th' way I see, we got a coupla options." He looked thoughtful, dark eyes turned inwards in thought. "You, whatever th' hell ya name is find some way t' destroy that glorified big zapper, I keep throwing shit at it till it breaks, we find some fuckin' way t' name hollows go full lemming and hope it has a recharge, or we order some Gigai. 'Course, never know how long those fuckers'll get here." He shrugged.
Despite common opinion, Kubi wasn't an idiot. Rude, certainly. Uneducated? Most definitely. But stupid? No. If he was, he wouldn't have lived to be over a millennium old. He knew that until that pillar was down, they were sitting ducks out here. "Personally, I hope y' find a way to bring the bitch down. 'Cuz playing catch with gets borin' real quick. It can't catch for shit." He was quick to trust this man, but he didn't really have a choice. He needed that pillar down. Besides, this was his mission, and it appears this man was an ally. So he took the risk. He just hoped it wouldn't bite him.

While Hotaru walked up to the Vice Captain, he of course told her that he said that it was going to be fairly easy. She nodded her head in agreement. He then winked at her. She thought about it and it's been used on her before. She had herself done it once or twice. It was almost like he approved of the way she fought while also wanting to see more of her. More of her in the 'just you and me together making sweet music' kinda way.
Before she could really think anymore on the matter, she saw some black blur thing running past her and the Vice Captain. Since her energy sensory was poor, she hadn't even noticed him until now. When he stopped, he stopped right in front of them, barring the path. Since he was closer, she could finally get a reading on him. He obviously could see them, since he was staring right at them. He could be various races, but she knew he wasn't a Quincy.
Being around Asmoskon for as long and as frequent as she was, she got a good feel for Quincy reiatsu. Also, when she fought Gerald, the signature was similar to Asmoskon's but different enough to tell her that it was someone different. She just assumed that he was a Fullbringer, spiritually aware humans that can release power to fight off hollows. It was nice of him to try to save them like this. She didn't know that most humans would actually help out shinigami like this.
She listened to the Vice Captain and had to agree with him on some point. It was nice he was trying to stop them from getting closer, but they could tell that the thing was going to zap them. They weren't going to get much closer to these huge things. But, it made Hotaru wonder just what in the hell were the pillars made out of? Usually throwing huge pieces of building at stuff works. She really wanted to get closer to this thing and look at it.
But, since she didn't want to die, she stayed away. While she thought about that, the Vice Captain told them their options. Those all seemed plausible. The Gigai could take forever to get here, and honestly, they might not even need them after this setback, so there's no point in really going to get any. The only way that they could continue was to rely on this human, in the hopes that he could destroy it easily. The Vice Captain could also try to throw things at it.
Based off what happened last time, however, she doubted Kubi throwing stuff at the pillar would actually break it. She nodded with the Vice Captain when he said that he hoped this human could bring the pillar down. "Thank you for trying to stop our progress so we wouldn't get hit by it, whoever you are. But, I think we can handle not getting close to it. Now, as Kubi-fukataichou said, you're really the only one out of this group to destroy that pillar. Could you please do this for us?" She looked at him and hoped he would do it.

Marcus didn’t like Kubi at all. It was only logical (Yes, that was intended to be read in a Spock voice). After all, the two were polar opposites in personality. Marcus was timid and an introvert while Kubi spoke whatever was on his mind in a sassy of a way as possible. Marcus hated the heavy sarcasm in his voice, but he wasn’t about to respond. No, Kubi was too big and intimidating. It was hard enough to whisper to a small, more inviting person without even considering somebody as daunting as the Vice Captain. Marcus wasn’t scared at all. No, he wouldn’t hesitate to fight the Shinigami if the need be. But talking was different. It required something that Marcus didn’t have in him, something that shattered when he was young and left him in the shell of a once full man. His body was there, but his spirit was still wounded and because of that, speech was still difficult for him.
Marcus not want to talk to Kubi, and he didn’t have to either. The Fullbringer would wait on the Shinigami to finish beating around the bush, which pretty much summed up to a request for Marcus to destroy the pylon. They needed him as an ally, and Marcus was hesitant to accept for many reasons. First of all, he didn’t trust Shinigami in general. Uzaki Enterprise was not allied with Soul Society in any means, and, at best, the organization coexisted with Seireitei. Also, there was the issue that Marcus did not want the pylon destroyed. It was protecting the city and eliminating Hollows. Why destroy it? The Shinigami wouldn’t be nearly as efficient and effective at destroying the Hollows as the circle of pylons around the crater was. The towers were containing the Hollows within the crater, so Marcus had no intention to destroy them.
The Fullbringer wouldn’t even shake his head at Kubi’s request. He would just stand there motionless, for the message would be just as clear. Hotaru, however, was kinder and more approachable when she addressed the human. “Thank you for trying to stop our progress so we wouldn't get hit by it, whoever you are. But, I think we can handle not getting close to it. Now, as Kubi-fukataichou said, you're really the only one out of this group to destroy that pillar. Could you please do this for us?” Yes, Hotaru would be far easier to talk to. Of course it would be a challenge, but there was no other way to communicate effectively.
“N-no… the p-pillar is k-killing hollows…” Marcus took a deep breath after completing the first sentence, his hand trembling lightly from the nerves. There really weren’t any pros to having the severe social anxiety Marcus dealt with. “G-go over it… I d-don’t see a-any p-pillars p-past this one f-from h-here...” Essentially, if Hotaru and Kubi walked on air ground, they could go high enough to avoid the pylon. Then, when they made it into the tower-free exterior of the crater, they could descend. “I’ll s-scout for p-pillars inside th-the c-crater…” Marcus would go on ahead of the Shinigami into the crash site of the meteorite on his own. If he met any trouble, he figured that he would be able to signal to the Shinigami whether it was safe or not while handling any threat he faced. He moved at a comfortable speed, about 300, toward and past the nearest pylon. From there, he would see if any more towers lay ahead.
