There was in fact no need to keep vigilance for the moment, as Shade would notice. None of them so much as glanced at the Shinigami. Surely they noticed them, but the Shinigami seemed to be considered so far beneath them that it was not worth attacking. Not one glance came the way of any Shinigami. Were they viewed as insects? Were they worthless? Was it simply that they had no possible reason to be observed at all? How weak were they considered to be? There were all sorts of questions that could be asked, but it did not matter. What did matter was that the Vandenreich did not regard any of the Shinigami, and therefore they provided an easy passage for them to explore the palace. However, just as they turned another corner, they'd see something.
An icy blue clock was visible on a wall across from them, in another large hall that they'd turned into, also occupied by Quincy doing the exact same things as those at the entrance. However, the clock had a hand moving. As the minute hand reached the twelve, the hour hand reached the three. And then all of a sudden, everywhere in everyone's vision, there was movement. An attack?! No. There was no attack. While at first the sudden movement and the flashes of light and reiatsu seemed like an attack, and all mops and brooms and clocks and the like had been dropped, there was in fact no attack. Everywhere that could be observed, the Vandenreich members had organized themselves into an efficient, flawless line-up, very militaristic and orderly.
And all of a sudden, a hymn began playing in the background. The entire castle was consumed by song. No, rather, the song was from the lined up Quincy themselves, who sang it. All around, they all stood at attention and with salute. All around, the banners with that symbol of the sun were glowing brightly. Was this some kind of daily salutation? It was entirely possible that they did this out of required discipline. To be in synchronization and high spirits was part of the brain washing method, perhaps? All of them were ready to die for their cause. They were truly devoted to it. This was perhaps why this ritual even existed in the first place. Regardless, it seemed as if the Shinigami still did not exist. This of course was until the song ended.
Once the anthem ended, though there continued hums here and there, the Vandenreich Quincy returned to work, and went back to ignoring all of the Shinigami. At the very least, this was what it seemed like. However, this of course was up until something else happened. All of a sudden, the pressure in the area began crushing down, and it was evident that the reiatsu flowing around the castle had just changed once again. It had gotten more malicious, as if hostility had been switched on. And this was why things were going to be very very bad. In fact, if the three Shinigami looked at the air, they'd notice something new. Blue embers were floating through the air. One ember singed another part of Anastasia's hair, which did not grow back.
All of a sudden, down the hall they had just entered into, from down a set of spiraling stairs, a man began walking towards them. His demeanor was cold, and calm. He was dressed in the same outfit as all of the others, but with a noticeable difference. First, he had a hat. Second, a distinguished red emblem was visible on the chest of his outfit. While all Vandenreich Members observed thus far had an armband with that symbol, this man had both armband and chest insignia. He had cropped white hair, and his eyes were electric blue. In age, he was perhaps in his 50s physically. He had large, bulky shoulders, and a scar running down his face. The way with which he observed the Shinigami was daunting. The way with which he observed them.
He was observing them. He did not ignore them like the others had. The others still did, having lined up on two sides with salutes, indicating that he was of superior rank. He was watching them. His eyes were clearly on them. The way with which he presented himself was with perfect stature. He was tall, he stood perfectly upright. He was dignified, and indeed he was more than likely very powerful. His reiatsu bulged with a presence on the same level as a proper, powerful, and dignified Captain. No, rather, his power exceeded even that. He was stronger than the three Shinigami. No doubt about it. Unlike Malik, he could kill them. Without acknowledging them with words, he spoke. "Lassen Sie sie. Sie sind Müll." Then, as the Vandenreich returned to their business, he turned and walked back up the stairs, walking away.
