As soon as Shade finished speaking the homosexual menace had invaded his personal bubble. What was with people today? It was as if they couldn’t take a hint and leave him alone. “Hey, hot stuff,” said the Quincy after transporting himself at high speed right next to Shade. The soul reaper’s hand immediately flew to his zanpakutou’s hilt, but Malik meant no harm. The homosexual’s arm wrapped around the soul reaper’s shoulder. Shade didn’t see a weapon of any sort on the man, but it was to be expected since he was a Quincy. If he remembered correctly, which was always the case, he’d read that Quincies used small medallions to summon bows made out of reiatsu. Shade looked the man over for any sign of this Quincy cross. Whether he located it or not was only a matter of if Malik was displaying it openly or not. In either case, Shade swiftly shoved the gay man off of him as if he was nothing but a fly. A look of disgust shot across Shade’s face for an instant as he put some distance between him and the enemy.
“But about your questions,” said Malik with a serious tone, “I can’t tell you anything. I can’t answer any of them. You’ll have to go home empty handed. Sorry, Shinigami! And hot stuff. But, it doesn’t have anything to do with you anyway. Please leave quietly. It was nice seeing yoouuu!!!” Shade stood his ground with a solemn expression as Malik shooed them away. This was not how the mission would end. Nothing but absolute success was acceptable in Shade’s book. His eyes narrowed and he was just about to say something when Kaen spoke up. “Really? That sucks. From your attitude towards Shade, I coulda told you more than just a few things in exchange for something useful. Oh well. You seem nice, so I'll put in a good word for you. Sorry, hope you understand. I got things I have to do, and mentioning this to Enma-taichou is one of those things. Nothing personal or anything, but another group might be coming by again real soon,” said the third seat, no doubt offering Malik personal information on Shade. The shinigami turned and glared at the third seat. Who did he think he was to be making offers like that? Shade held his tongue though. If Kaen was bluffing then he didn’t wish to be the one to ruin it. It was true that Kaen knew next to nothing important about Shade, so he surmised that there was a good possibility that Kaen’s claim was a bluff.
It was after Kaen spoke that Anastasia chimed in. “Hola guapo~! Yo soy un jugador con un pasado condenado. Esa parte no es tan importante, sin embargo.. No.” she said, speaking Spanish for all to hear, “...Lo importante es ustedes dos. Sí, mi amigo es muy, muy, muy caliente y me he enterado un poco acerca de él... Aquí hay una pista ...a él le gusta tomarse de las manos. Que lindo, eh?” Unfortunately for Anastasia she’d overlooked a few details. Shade actually knew Spanish, so nothing she was saying would remain hidden from the lieutenant. Shade was able to understand every word that Anastasia said and scowled at her with a look that said “I will destroy you.” After awhile Anastasia stopped speaking in Spanish. “My captain is also vicious as well. Sozen Kuchiki. Surely you’ve heard of him. Ah, even if you haven’t, I’ll have to tell him as well, aru~..Ahh...This won’t be fun.” she said, warning Malik about her captain. Shade wished he could speak well of his own captain, but he could not say a word because his captain sucked. Anastasia leapt down to Shade’s level and once again linked arms with him. Why did she have a habit of doing that? Admittedly Shade would rather have Anastasia touching him than Malik, but touching in general was not something that Shade was very used to. “I guess we oughta go, right handsome~?” said the lieutenant as she gave him a smile. Shade couldn’t even look in her direction and instead kept his eyes focused on the Quincy. He was clearly incredibly fast, and likely possessed high reiatsu-based abilities like other Quincy. Shade was gauging Malik, because in his opinion, the Quincy had made his choice to die when he refused to cooperate.
Malik winked at Anastasia who still had her arms linked with Shade’s, but Malik wasn’t done just yet. With another display of impressive speed, the Quincy transported himself next to Shade’s left side. Before he knew it, the gay man’s hand was in his own and his mind instantly began processing this information. Fortunately for Shade, Anastasia was too close to Shade to get a good picture in and would need to move back to get the whole thing in frame, but by then it would be too late anyway. The soul reaper’s mind processed information faster than most shinigami in Soul Society. “Malik is a quincy. He is clearly very fast, which has been the case with most quincies. If Malik follows the same trend as the majority of other quincies then he will be physically weak, but adept in sensing energy and controlling reiatsu. Quincies have also not demonstrated the ability to fire arrows without two hands. Malik has just placed his right arm under my mercy. If I get rid of his arm then he will be useless as a Quincy. Malik is also clearly faster than all of us, but he’s given this opportunity to me for free. I only have a second to decide whether I should take advantage of it or not,” thought Shade in the timespan of less than a second. As soon as Malik’s hand was in the soul reaper’s grip, Shade’s grasp tightened around Malik’s own, crushing practically all the bones in his hand, but this wasn’t all Shade would do. His right arm, which was still on his zanpakutou’s hilt, grabbed the sword and brought it screaming out of its sheath. Before Malik would even realize it, his arm would be detached from his body. The gay man had picked the wrong person to approach lightly. The Kawada Family Head was not above killing people at any moment. Other people’s lives were as dispensable to him as paper.
Malik’s speed would not factor in to the seconds following Shade’s attack. The shinigami slashed so that no amount of moving would position his arm so that it was out of harm’s way. It would separate Malik’s arm between the wrist and the elbow. There was no dodging at this range without the ability to move one’s arm out of the way. The Quincy would definitely be losing that arm unless he had been expecting an attack and had the ability to react in less than a second. Malik had sealed his fate when he’d refused to let them in, and now he was missing an arm. Kaen and Anastasia were willing to dance around this guy and try to avoid conflict, but Shade was not afraid of combat. As much as he wanted this mission to go off without a hitch, he wanted it done fast as well. This meant that they couldn’t avoid every single fight that came their way. They needed to choose their battles wisely.
