How disappointing. Well. Not actually. Kaen was actually pleased to see his opponent evade his attack. If it was that easy, Kaen would have been severely irritated by the level of his opponent. "Nice, nice. You live you to your rank, that's for sure." Kaen commented, shifting his weight back and forth in a pseudo boxing stance. Now that Kaen thought about it, his fighting style was probably pretty alien to these guys. Sure, the concepts of combat had been around for awhile, but both of Kaen's primary fighting styles, Karate and Jiujitsu were only a few hundred years old, the latter of which was still being changed and developed in the modern world. For a man who lived 32,000 years ago, they would be unusual indeed. Then again, it'd give Kaen the opportunity to see the fighting technique of these ancient times as well!
Kaen reached his hand to his back and drew his zanpakuto. "I wonder though, if you don't simply want me to release, so as to draw the attention of a captain..." He remarked with a smirk. His blade was now primed for release and his eyes were scanning his opponent carefully for any perceived opening. His opening move had failed and now he'd need his blade. For an overly aggressive opponent, Kaen's hand to hand fighting could suffice, even against a sword wielding adversary. He would slide into the blind spot created by their attack and counter strike at close range.
Attacking a weapon user, however, was much more problematic, as the greater reach of the sword, meant that preventing or countering a charge was easy. Kaen grinned as he thought of something though. "If you want me to release, you should take a crack at it first." He commented. "I don't like releasing unless I feel I have to, but I doubt I could tackle someone like you, without it, if you released first." He commented, holding his sword blade in a defensive position, with his left hand set near his hip, balled in a fist.
