Another boring day. That's what it was for Gen Shizuo. He couldn't find much to do. He didn't feel like going to the human world today. He didn't have enough motivation to make any observations there. He wasn't in the observing mood today anyway. He hadn't been in some time. Ever since he had lost to those twins in the Human World, Gen began to question his strength. He began to doubt himself and fear that whatever was out there to get him would be able to take him out easily. Every day and every night, questions and concerns ran through his mind. He wasn't sure how long he would even live. He could die in a few seconds. That was what scared him the most. That was why he was going to head to one place he heard most people went to in order to train.
Gen's steady footsteps trailed softly across the gleaming white desert as he walked towards the Menos Forest. The forest that was said to house some of the most vicious hollows. If he could survive a day there, he believed that he would grow stronger. He would be one step ahead of what he feared was out to get him. Power. That was what he wanted. That was what he would gain by training here today. With each step he took to bring him closer, he took in even deeper breaths to calm himself. What if he died during this suicide training? If he did, then he wasn't fit to be a hollow. He wasn't fit to be an Arrancar, which was superior to the other levels of hollow. The Arrancar were the cream of the crop, something that the lower Hollow looked to be when they were stronger. The Espada, also being Arrancar, were just even higher in that crop.
Breathe in....breathe out...breathe in....breathe out.... Gen walked closer and closer, each breath of his becoming heavier and heavier. Finally, he stopped at the outskirts and just stood there, staring into the forest from the fishbowl like mask fragment on his head. What did he get himself into now? Could he really survive without Miss Asuka? Well, he was about to find out. Taking a deep breath, the Fraccion stepped forward into certain doom. He took another step and moved further in. One inch grew into two inches and then three and continued growing until he was farther and farther away from the entrance. He was in Menos Forest now. There was no turning back at this point.
With hands calmly settled into his pockets, the Fraccion's eyes flickered all around, examining everything with the utmost scrutiny. Eyes moved over the ground, trees, skies, and any fragments of anything that caught his eye. He was like a secret service agent in the way he perused every single thing his eyes came across. Being scared of everything did this to Gen. He never let anything escape his sight. Whatever he saw he was cautious of and observed until he made sure it was not harmful. That was what he was doing now. Though, despite being so scared on the inside, Gen looked too calm on the outside. His demeanor didn't give away any of the fears he felt inside.
Gen didn't know what lay in wait for him as he walked. Strangely though, he didn't see any Menos or any other hollow yet. At least, not yet. Just then, Gen heard a howl behind him and leapt forward. Just in time too. A fist the size of his head came crashing down where he was just standing. Gen rolled on the ground and then spun around when he came to a stop. He heard a growl and then looked to see that his opponent was some kind of Adjuchas type hollow. It had a humanoid shape, purple skin, huge arms and legs and a kangaroo looking hollow mask with pointed ears. It looked like his first challenge had arrived.
Gen stood up slowly while continuing to watch the Adjuchas that stood before him. This one looked pretty mindless. It just stood there, growling at Gen. It's glowing red eyes stuck out within the blackness of the eye holes on the mask. It frightened Gen a little. He thought that he might die, but he didn't want to. He then watched as the hollow leapt forward. It was almost as though it's feet were springs. It blurred as soon as it left the ground. Gen wasn't able to see it until it was just in front of him. It was punching at him again! Gen drew his blades and slid them before himself in an X formation. Though he was able to block some of the damage from the punch, he was still blown away and sent rolling across the ground.
As Gen's roll came to a stop, he looked up to see the kangaroo-like Adjuchas barreling down on him once more. He rolled to the side and then jumped away, only to be followed by the Adjuchas. It was pushing him and it was only an Adjuchas whereas he was an Arrancar. Gen needed to get it together! As he was sliding to a halt, the hollow was punching forward again. All that he could do to avoid it was duck underneath. The hollow punched down at him with it's other fist, but Gen's instinct told him another attack was coming, so he jumped into the air to avoid that. Rubble flew up from the spot where the fist impacted, blasting up towards Gen.
He punched his right hand towards the hollow's chest in that moment as he shielded his eyes from the rubble. This allowed him to escape another attack while his eyes were closed. Instead of attacking, the Adjuchas backed off. It now had a fist sized hole in its chest and was roaring in pain. The Adjuchas glared at Gen and then charged once more, jumping off of its spring like feet. It blurred once more, but this time Gen could see it. He had been watching it all throughout the fight. He noticed that it only came at him straightforward. Above was the only other direction it came from besides from the front. It was only giving Gen trouble because of the speed those spring legs gave it.
Gen jumped back, kicking both legs into the air as he did so. Green reiatsu charged there when he did, and as the hollow roared forwards, the reiatsu blasted out. Gen was blasted backwards by the cero that had come from his feet, keeping him out of harm's way for a retaliation. It wouldn't matter anyway though because the cero washed over the Adjuchas hollow's body and it roared fiercely in pain. It wasn't until Gen finally landed after being propelled backwards by the cero that he saw the hollow's body disintegrating into the air. "That was too close. The strength I have now isn't enough..." Gen whispered to himself as he sheathed his blades. He took a few seconds to gather himself and then continued on, heading deeper into the foreboding Menos Forest.
