Rio knew this place. This is the spot he'd claimed his rank in the Espada by killing his master, the former Sexta Espada. Heck, if one looked to the walls of Los Noches, one could still see the repairs being done on the massive hole that Rio had left when their battle had left the halls and dropped them off here. It was here that the former Sexta Espada had died, and sent this new horror into the midst of the Espada. Speaking of new horrors....
Rio looked around. He'd been called out here by that new one, Magnus. He'd been sent the invitation not long after he had received his promotion to the position of Quinta. So. Where was this guy? He hoped he'd be a better match than Miho. True, Miho hadn't been TOO boring, but in the end she had still only been a Fraccion and she had thoroughly annoyed Rio, dancing around and trying to avoid fighting him, whilst her Orcus Bane tried to kill him. It hadn't worked. And Rio expected that no matter what Magnus tried, he'd meet the same fate. Rio simply hoped that when he did, it'd be as a result of a fun battle.
Rio was getting impatient though, looking around irritably. "You know..." He began. "Generally the man who made the challenge ought not to be the one who's late for it." He hissed. Rio was a newer Espada, so it was unlikely his fighting style would be particularly well known. And that was a useful feature. Why? Because Rio looked nothing like the kind of man to use his fighting style. His build was slender, and in fact, at a glance, Rio could almost look effeminate. He looked the type to dodge attacks and wear his opponents down over time. Nothing could be further from the truth, however, as Magnus was liable to learn. If he ever actually arrived, that is!

Hell, I got lost again. , thought Magnus as he was running towards the exit that led to the fake desert. In fact, He returned to take some LSD, and forgot map of Las Noches inside of his apartment. So yeah, he was late. It was not good to be late. As a matter of fact, Magnus was the one who decided make this fight happen.
Magnus didn´t have anything serious on his mind, he just thought about getting some practice. And this guy, Rio, was perfect. He was Quinta, which meant he was slightly, but not too much stronger, and he was also a relatively new Espada. So Magnus hoped to gauge his strength and power, as this would provide him with some knowledge of other Espada´s power, and some serious funny play as well.
With those reasons in his head, Magnus entered fake desert. Blue bright sky was upon him, but Magnus did not care at all. All of his attention was focused on the man standing in front of him. Finally, words left his mouth: "C´mon, lets get started. I wanna play with you. After all, the moon is red enough."
Post by Rio Demonliogalgo on Jun 12, 2011 15:14:59 GMT -5
Ah. So he finally decided to appear. Rio cracked his knuckles and then rolled his head from side to side, cracking that as well. "Yer fucking late, you know that?" He stated, showing a bit of a brash tongue. "Whatever. You're here now, so we can get started." He said, advancing towards Magnus, his eyes clearly irritated. This better be worth my fucking time. I don't care if you are an Espada, if you die too easily, then you're nothing but trash.
Rio didn't advance quickly though. His advance was nice and even, simply walking towards Magnus. His hands were out of his pockets, but they weren't up in any aggressive pose. Just hanging at his side. Many opponents may have been unnerved by this, though if Magnus was half as mad as some of the other Espada *coughAdalocough* then he likely wouldn't even take notice, let alone care. But nonetheless, even Rio's even strides would eventually take him in range of Adalo. And it would be at that instant, in midstride, that Rio would strike.
It would seemingly come from nowhere. Afterall, what kind of attack could Rio possibly use from that stance without telegraphing it? The answer was: a flicker jab. A jab thrown up at the face from waist height. An unorthodox move, even in boxing, and typically unexpected, both for its reach and speed. If Magnus wasn't paying attention to Rio's hands, it was very likely he'd miss Rio throwing the strike. But that would be devastating. Although flicker jabs were normally fairly weak strikes, used for distraction at best, Rio's immense physical strength changed this normally weak jab into something on par with a full power punch from most high ranking Espada.
And he'd only just begun. If the flicker connected, Magnus would undoubtably be thrown off balance and recoil from the blow. At that Rio would quickly follow it up with a brutal Muay Boran leg kick, and a powerful right hook aimed at the jaw (in that order). If Magnus was hit by the flicker, dodging these blows would be very difficult. And with Rio's physical strength, getting hit by them could be very, VERY bad. His leg kick was strong enough to completely shatter the bones in Magnus's leg and if Magnus was really unlucky, his punch was liable to completely smash his jaw, if not tear it clean off. Rio had done such things in the past-- knocking body parts off simply by hitting them with his own body. His strength was formidable, and in physical terms his strength was unmatched, even among the Espada.
Post by Magnus Wonderwizz on Jun 12, 2011 15:31:05 GMT -5
Magnus looked carefully at Rio. This was no time to play mad. So when the jab came, Magnus recognized it. Hell no, that is definitively not going to work. , thought Magnus. Magnus was good at boxing, and was using quite a few moves from it, so he easily recognized this one. He decided not to take any chances. In an instant, Magnus used his Sonido to get out of there. He had no intention to let Rio hit him.
It was simple. He saw the way Rio performed that jab. Just from a simple glance, Magnus could say that the strength was a lot greater than a strength of a usual flicker jab. So that is the reason for Using Sonido. With it, Magnus appeared four yards left of Rio, and used that opportunity to shoot a single Bala at him, yelling: "Take that, you ass!" It was not meant to hit Rio, or injure him. It was simply used to gauge his way of dealing with ranged attacks.
If it would show that ranged attack were Rio´s weak spot, then Magnus would certainly use some more to disrupt his balance before getting a bit serious. After that jab, Magnus realized that this will have to get serious at one point, or he will pretty easy find himself dead.

Sonido. Really? Such a textbook response. Rio noticed Magnus emerging from it a few yards to his left and sighed. Is he gonna be one of those annoying bastards that fights at a distance? He saw Magnus's hand raising up, and immediately two thoughts came to his mind. A Cero or a Balla. One or the other. He hadn't been cut so a Gran Rey Cero was right out. Cero took time to charge, so Rio had time on that. But if it was a Balla he'd have to move now, if he wanted to avoid it.
Rio took a step backwards as the balla launched, and leaned away just as insurance. The balla blew past Rio, but the new Quinta didn't seem too bothered, merely looking at Magnus with a bored look. A look that seemed to say 'Is that all you've got?' Magnus wasn't the first foe Rio had fought that did tricks like that. Heck, what Magnus was trying now was almost identical to what Miho had done to fight him. Which wasn't to say it was a bad idea. It was a helluva lot safer than trying to tackle Rio in hand to hand combat.
What is said is that Rio had seen these strategies used too many times to count. Sonido out of the way, or avoid with higher speed and try and catch him with a fast long ranged attack. Wear him down over time. That people still thought it would be effective was almost laughable to Rio. Magnus would have to step it up a notch if he wanted to see Rio even so much as sweat. Well. Anyways. It was Rio's turn now.
Rio counterattacked with a Sonido of his own. But he decided to do things a little differently. A lot of people used this technique to get into an opponent's blind spot. Attacking from the sides, or attacking from behind. Rio instead chose an angle that a lot of people wouldn't expect. Attacking right from the front. But it was more than that. Rio may have been powerful, but he wasn't the fastest of the Espada. As a result, he used a number of tricks to appear much faster than he actually was.
In this case, he was already making his move in mid-Sonido. To Magnus's eyes, one instant Rio would be evading his Bala, the next the Quinta would be right in front of him. And that wasn't all. If Magnus was focusing on Rio's face, like many martial artists might, reading an attack through his eyes, he'd miss the fact that Rio had already launched an attack during his Sonido, and that as he emerged from Sonido, his left fist would be virtually colliding with the Septima's ribs, intending on breaking them.
But that wasn't Rio's only idea. The Espada planned to follow up his strike up by suddenly pushing into a clinch with Magnus. Rio was a master of both Muay Boran and Pankration. Both styles, the former in particular, had especially devastating clinch techniques, and Rio was about to demonstrate that. If his clinch attempt was successful (again, likely, if his initial punch landed), Rio would drive his knee in a powerful blow to the inside of Magnus's thigh to break his femur.
Each of Rio's attacks chained into combos. If one part was successful, it became very likely the next part would be too. And naturally, with such high strength, a single combination of blows would often be sufficient to render a foe nearly incapable of fighting back! That was the scary thing about fighting Rio. Not simply that he could shatter bones or demolish organs with a single strike, but that he wasn't satisfied with landing one blow. If one blow landed, it was likely that the next two or three would as well. And if one punch was enough to shatter a bone, imagine what multiple punches might do...

OC: You forgot to dock your remaining reiatsu, as it is decreased by the usage of Sonido. Also, forgive me for my posts being so messy, I didn´t rp for a while, so I am getting back in shape.
IC: Hm, so he too used Sonido. Better get outta here. , thought Magnus in an instant, as he saw Rio using Sonido. Hell, there was no way that Magnus would let Rio get behind his back, not that easily. After all, Magnus was faster than Rio, so he used his Sonido to get a few yards above Rio. That gave Magnus just an idea. Hell yeah, if both my arms and legs are free, i should give him a little Bala shower. And if he dodged it, I could counterattacked that very instant.
So Magnus pointed both his legs and arms towards Rio, and have as well opened his mouth. He concentrated for a moment, and fired five Bala at Rio. The instant he did that, he drew his sword. This play is not interesting enough. I might just as well make it a bit more interesting. Magnus smiled. This is going to be very, very good, or at least very, very bloody.
As yeah, he made a plan. Rio would dodge, but Magnus would then engage him with his Zanpakutou. And there was no way Rio could stand up to that without using his own. And that is exactly what Magnus wanted. He wanted Rio to unsheathe his Zanpakutou. After all, the first, observation stage was over. Just from a brief looks, Magnus realized that while Rio´s speed is inferior to his own, Rio´s strength was much, much above his. It might as well be greater than some High Tier Espada´s. But Magnus did not care too much. This battle was meant to give him some feedback on general Espada level.
And for that reason he wanted Rio to get down to swordplay. That would give Magnus much more insight on Rio´s fighting style. But Magnus had no intention on stopping there. He wanted to challenge all other Espada, to gauge them carefully, learn how they fight, and then challenge one of them for the rank. But that moment was still far from him. I should concentrate on this guy, as he is pretty dangerous. , thought Magnus, and focused himself back on battle.

Tch. Another Sonido. This was getting annoying! As soon as Magnus vanished from his sights, Rio began to prepare his counterattack and started to charge a Cero. Above me, huh?[/color] Rio thought as he caught Magnus's movement in his peripheral vision. He lifted his hand up and unleashed a massive green Cero directly upwards. Because he had been charging it before Magnus had fired his Bala Rio was able to fire it off at the same instant. And due to its considerably higher power than a Bala, it was likely that the Cero would overwhelm them and pierce through to blast Magnus. Even five separate bala wouldn't be able to match it. Five combined bala, maybe. Five separate? Not a chance. So that Cero flying up in his face would be something Magnus would be having to deal with.
Regardless, it seemed he wanted to engage Rio in a swordfight? Well. Rio would have to decline that... he didn't use a sword. But he would humor his opponent, drawing one of his Sai from his side. Not both. No. Both Sai would be unnecessary, Rio felt, as he smirked in Magnus's direction. He held his Sai up in a casual fighting stance. "What's wrong? Got cold feet?" He taunted, shifting his fighting stance. "If you think that oversized toothpick is gonna help you, then hurry up and try it. You're boring me!"

Used Cero to deflect combined Bala. Smart thing to do. But something Rio said angered Magnus. There is no way somebody can call him boring and get around without punishment. Well, if you wants it so badly.
"Jugar el juego, El Demonio de Engaño!"
Magnus transformed. His beard and mustache were gone. He had A lot longer hair. Green tattoos were streching across his torso. His nails became claws, and bandages appeared around his hands. Magnuses´ skin became purple, and he become a bit more bulky. Blindfold appeared on his eyes, but they were stull visibel, glowing green. The horns grew out of his head, resembling those of a goat. Magnus had only leather and fur pants on him, and his hoofs and black fur were visible. He looked like a spawn of hell. The he yelled out to Rio: "You want fun! Here you go you asshole! I will offer you this single opportunity. Use your Ressureccion, or you can just as well surrender!"
There was no more observing. No more gauging. Rio insulted Magnus. No way he could get off with that. He was gonna pay for that kind of insult. How dares he call the most funniest Arrancar in existence boring. That was not just a crime. It was blasphemy. and rio was going to pay for it right now.

Huh. The guy released his zanpakuto? How interesting. But Magnus had missed one thing. The fact that Rio's Cero hadn't just blocked the Bala but because the Bala had been separated, it had been able to overpower them and pushed through. Since Magnus had opted to release instead of avoiding the attack, being hit by Rio's Cero was inevitable. But on the plus side, the Cero's power would have been weakened by the Bala, so at the very least damage wouldn't be too severe.
Rio grinned gleefully at the release nonetheless however. But then Magnus's words struck a chord in Rio. "What was that? Use my Ressurection? You worthless piece of TRASH!" Rio's eyes suddenly flared up. "You wanna see my Ressurection, then you'd better fucking EARN it. I have no need to release against a piece of shit like you! Rio drew his second Sai however, and flipped one of them around so that he held it by the "blade" with the handle facing forwards. If Magnus was unfamiliar with how Sai worked, this might seem odd to him, but in fact, did nothing to reduce the lethality of the weapon.
Although Rio's Sai were (mostly) blunt, with his strength, they may as well be the sharpest things in existance. They made Rio's blows even more devastating, as they concentrated his immense power onto a single point. That meant that even with a blunt weapon like Sai, Rio could still punch holes in a target with ease. Rio snapped his arm up to point at Magnus with a grin. "That release of yours better have some fucking good tricks, or you're going to die!" He then snapped his arm down.
Unknown to Magnus however, Rio had already launched an attack even before he'd stated speaking. One of Rio's most formidable powers was the ability to launch shockwaves at foes. He'd just launched two at Magnus. The first one had been launched when he'd first pointed his Sai at Magnus, using the rising motion of his arm to launch a focused shockwave, flying at Magnus, even faster than a Cero. Rio planned for it to hit Magnus right in the torso while he was focusing on Rio's words. And it would hit with comparable force to one of Rio's punches. A.k.a. pretty damn hard. The second shockwave was launched as Rio lowered his arm, likely following up on the recoil from the first one. Afterall, Magnus would likely be taken offguard by the first one, and therefore his reaction would be much greater.
And the worst part for Magnus was, he wouldn't have been able to see what hit him. Rio's shockwaves were nearly invisible to all but those of the highest senses. Magnus wouldn't realize that Rio's pointing at him was anything more than a gesture, until he was hit. Heck, even then he might not realize the cause of it. But if he was hit by either of the shockwaves, Rio was going to kick into action and finish this battle here and now.
While Magnus was reeling from the blow (and possibly dealing with some fractured bones if the shockwaves caught him directly), Rio would lunge up from the ground and swing one of his Sai like a baton into Magnus's head, intending to smash his skull. The limited distance Magnus had put between them would mean that despite Rio being slower, he could still cover the distance in no time. It would also make avoiding the shockwaves extremely hard. Magnus was in deep shit now, as avoiding the shockwaves would be next to impossible, especially since he couldn't sense them. And if he couldn't avoid the shockwaves, there would be almost no way he'd avoid Rio's blow from his Sai either due to the recovery time he'd need from the shockwaves. Could the battle be decided in this instant?

OOC: Edited this post, because yours didn´t make sense. Now it does.
IC: This guy is so fucking talkative. I might as well take him from my left.
So Magnus started to move , but then he felt a strike. What the hell? There was nothing. Shit, what if that was him. Magnus was hurt. And it was painful. That thing, whatever it was, broke his right arm. Magnus just glanced it for a moment. And then he sensed a touch on his forehead. He instinctively used Sonido that instant. It allowed Magnus to move away, and stay alive too. This was going to be shitty. Besides his broken arm, Magnus had a deep cut stretching vertically across his forehead.
The pain was excruciating. Magnus roared, as he somehow twisted his arm, and returned bones to their places. It was still broken and hurting, but he could at least make some use of it. Magnus knew only one thing he could do now. What a shame. I wont see his Ressureccion after all this trouble. Nah, never mind. So Magnus knelt, and touched the ground with his left hand.
"Patio de Juegos Mortales!"
Immediately, a black dome appeared around them. It was big, and pretty dark too. Also, the terrain changed. The sand disappeared. Rocks were there instead. It was rough. Like on a Mars. This was deadly playground. No techniques, except for Sonido and Hierro. And... NO RELEASE. But Magnus was not over yet. He had to pull something else off. He was still kneeling, and his hand was still touching the ground. Magnus still planed to do something. He planned to show Rio his best game. There was no way Rio could deal with it. Soon, Magnus planned to overwhelm him.
So he started sentence: "Lanza del..."

Hmph. Broken arm only? Fuck. Rio's aim had been off. He'd just need to use a bigger shockwave next time! He watched as Magnus forcibly pushed the arm into place. Idiot. A properly broken arm wouldn't be so easily fixed. Broken and dislocated were two different things. Sure, he might maintain some use of his arm, but it would be severely hampered. As Magnus went down and kneeled to touch the ground, however, Rio saw his opening.
The Espada used a sudden Sonido to launch himself behind Magnus as he kneeled, slamming down a roundhouse kick towards Magnus's back. While it might not have interrupted Magnus's technique if it hit, it would almost certainly break his spine and paralyze the Septima. And if that happened, well. The match was over. Hell, against most targets Rio's kick could outright cut someone in half, it was so powerful, but between Magnus's Hierro, which was equal in strength to Rio's, and his strength was just high enough to avoid that. Still. A broken spine was just as bad, as it would render him completely paralyzed and unable to fight back.
This would also put a considerable kink into anymore of Magnus's plans that he was trying. Sure, he could get off the technique. But it'd cost him the match to do so. And if he evaded, then he'd have to reset to do it. Not that dodging a kick from that position would be easy. Dodging from a kneeling position, especially a kick from behind. Even with a roll, you'd be hard pressed to avoid it that fast. There was almost no way Magnus would completely dodge this, and if he insisted on finishing his technique, there was NO way he'd avoid it. Which also meant he'd be unable to perform his Lanza del Emperador, since either his move would be interrupted or he'd be taken out. And heck. Even if he abandoned the technique, he wouldn't get out of this unscathed. Magnus was now in a world of trouble. He'd given Rio an opening and the Quinta was exploiting it.

Magnus just planned to keep on with his plan, when he felt a touch on his back. Good luck his instincts were that good. They saved him again in this fight. He used Sonido again. This time to prevent breaking of his spinal cord. With that Sonido, he instantly moved to other side of the dome. It was painful. Every single part of that move. That probably meant that despite keeping his spinal cord in one piece, Magnus now has a internal bleeding. He could only hope that it was minor. But there was no way check that right now. Magnus had to commence the second phase of this plan. So he did it. But a lot faster than the last time. "Lanza del Emperador."
Immediately, 1000 spears of green energy spawned all over the dome. So Magnus grabed three of them with each hand and threw them at Rio, who could certainly block them. But Magnus already knew that. SO he repeated it 4 more times. It was quite fast, as in only 4 seconds Magnus threw a volley of 30 spears at Rio. That was good. Rio sucked at range combat. Magnus grabbed two more, one in each hand, ready to use them to defend himself. He won´t be fooled as he was before.

Rio scoffed. Sonido again. He admitted that the guy's Sonido wasn't half bad. But he just spammed it. Rio smirked. He couldn't keep that up forever, afterall. But now he was using some other move, creating shitloads of spears. They were formed out of some kind of energy. What was this? Was he making some kind of weapons for him to use. Rio saw Magnus move and grab several of them, throwing them at Rio. Rio retaliated by punching forwards, countering with a powerful focused shockwave to blast through the spears and try and hit Magnus. Assuming the shockwaves had at least some manner of physical nature (else Magnus wouldn't have been able to grab them), the shockwave would deflect them away or shatter them, without disrupting its course as it shot through Magnus. This was a fairly large shockwave, so it was likely it would actually hit some 30-40 of the spears as it went through, if it didn't hit Magnus.
Rio noted a spear beside him and reached over to grab it in a tight grip. He then noticed the weapon literally break in his hands. So fragile... Kuh! There's more to this move than meets the eye. He realized. What it was he didn't know but he figured he should keep his wits about him. He noted the edge of the dome. Likely that was the extent of Magnus's abilities. Rio would have to stay within Sonido distance of exiting the dome, in case Magnus did something. It would serve as an effective evasion.
Rio grabbed another spear, holding it a little less tightly so that it wouldn't break and hurled it forcefully at Magnus, his strength meaning that the spear flew with such speed it was little more than a streak of green light in the air. Rio grabbed multiple spears near him and continued to do the same, throwing around five spears up at Magnus at an extremely high speed. He then grabbed a sixth spear, and shot up after Magnus, thrusting the spear forwards to impale him. He was doing this one handed, of course, as he still held one of his Sai in his free hand.
Post by Magnus Wonderwizz on Jun 19, 2011 11:57:28 GMT -5
Hm, so he cracked spears with that invisible move. Interesting. It must be some kind of air shockwave, or invisible Cero or something. That is what Magnus thought. Luckily that weird attack didn´t reach him. But he couldn´t think more, as Rio launched a volley of spears towards him. Hell, those were fast. Well, that only meant that Rio was good with spears. Bu, Magnus was better. He spun the spears in his hands, deflecting the whole volley. Then he used Sonido to get a few feet behind Rio´s back, and threw both spears at him.
Then he grabbed more spears, six of them at once, and threw them too. Then he repeated that six more time in a fast succession, crating even larger volley of 42 spears, in only 4 seconds. And he could still do it faster. Then he again took two in his hands, aiming to defend himself if necessary. But he doubted that Rio could just crack all of them this time. After all, there was a chance that at least some of would hit. The damage would be minor, but still, it would be damage. And Magnus needed to damage this guy if ever hoped to win.
He,he, I will damage him enough, soon.
Magnus had just a brilliant plan. It was risky a bit, but if it worked, that would just prevail. Magnus actually had a chance, despite being outranked by two numbers. And that would be good, as Magnus then had a chance of claiming higher rank. And Magnus desperately wanted to do so. He hoped that he could overcome his memory loss by getting stronger. And that would finally remove those voices. Magnus was too much troubled by voices inside of his head. That is why he was drugging himself. Drugs silenced them. But that was not good enough, He wanted to silence them for good. So he had to win here.
