Player versus Player (PvP) Threads
PvP Threads are done when you want your character to fight another character on the site. You may have a team and work together, but it still falls under the PvP category. When you begin a PvP, you should outline all of the basic conditions of the thread. The template that was posted in the first part of this section will be all you need, and it may be edited to conform to your current specifications. Be careful where the location is taking place, though! That location is based on where you want your characters to be. For example, if you want to fight in Karakura Town, you must find the board on the Home page of the site and enter General Karakura for that fight to happen. You cannot make a thread in Soul Society and expect to fight in Karakura Town.
You can also post your thread in the "Battle Zone" so long as you specify where your location is. The Battle Zone offers no actual location, which is why making note of it is important. Once you've posted your basic thread information, you must write an Introductory Post. This is very simple since it's just how you are introducing your character, and the context is completely up to you. Attacks may be performed in the Introductory Post, but nothing complex can be delivered. Additionally, list all of your Stats and Skills in spoilers at the end of the post. An example for how this is done can be found in this jump link to an Introductory Post that has been written. This thread is also an Adventure, so you'll get a good feel for how that goes.
NDE and DP fights are always available for players, but DE PvP Threads cannot be arbitrarily created. You can only create a DE PvP Thread if it meets three conditions. If any of these three are not met by the thread, then staff will grade it as an NDE.
- Plot Relevance - This fight must be more than just a normal meeting. It has to have an impact on the characters with lasting effects on their individual plots, final outcomes, and psyche. The thread will typically not be allowed to be DE if it's between two people of the same race since many organizations do not allow inter-organization killing. Therefore, most of the fight would be training. Exceptions may happen depending on circumstances and the organization, itself.
- Actual Threat of Death - A simple spar or anything similar would not count, even if it is relevant to the plot. Usually, a thread can only be DE when it's between enemies. Two Shinigami can only do combat if they truly plan on trying to kill each other. Having killing potential does not count. They must have the intention or motivation to kill.
- Acknowledgement of Possibility of Death - No assumptions can be made. This is an extremely intense and competitive plot thread that may result in permanent scarring and injury, or even actual death to your character. Don't enter this thread expecting it to be easy. By joining, you agree to let the other player kill your character so long as the circumstances permit it.
PvP Threads also offer their own rewards. At the end of each thread, the amount of paragraphs written are tallied up and TP is rewarded to each participant based on the difficulty of the thread. Awarded TP depends on each character's own independent paragraph count, so if one person writes 100 paragraphs and the other person writes 50, then TP will be rewarded based on those two values individually. They are not combined. For each paragraph a participant writes, they receive 10 TP if it is an NDE or DP thread. For DE threads, it's boosted to 25 TP. The winner gets an additional 100 TP for an NDE or DP thread, and an additional 300 TP if it's a DE thread. This TP must be immediately converted to CTP or TTP, and can possibly be converted to SP from CTP after that. Participants can also opt for Ryo instead, gaining 100 Ryo per paragraph instead of TP for NDE and DP threads. For a DE thread, the amount is 250 Ryo per paragraph.
Training Threads
Training Threads are used to train your character to grow stronger. In these threads, your character can learn new techniques, grow stronger statistically, or even develop in personality. Training Threads do not have their own board the way most Adventures and Battles do. Instead, they are held within the area where the character is training. For example, if you're training within your squad's barracks in Seireitei, then your thread goes there.
There are two types of Training Threads available for characters to pursue. Standard Solo Training and Joint Training with another character are the options. Solo Training is where you're on your own, maybe practicing a technique or studying or meditating, but you're doing it all by yourself. You simply focus on self-improvement at your own rate. Joint Training is when you train with another character in order for you both to grow stronger, or for one to teach the other a new or reserved technique.
When creating a Training Thread, the participants can state at the top of their first post what they are training for. It can be CTP, TTP, SP, or a specific technique that requires training. Graders will take note of this and reward the participants based on what they want, but if nothing is stated, you will be awarded normal TP as a default and must convert it upon acquisition. You can learn about proper conversions in Section 1: Character Creation, Class, and Consideration. If you are training for TTP, you will not gain CTP or SP. The same rules apply for the other values. If none are mentioned, the default will be TP. In a Solo Training Thread, the participant gains 10 TP (in the form of either TTP or CTP), or 5 SP per every two paragraphs. This does not mean every one paragraph is 2.5 SP and 5 TP. Rewards are given in pairs, so write an even number of paragraphs. In Joint Training Threads, the total number of paragraphs for all participants is added up, and they gain 10 TP for every two paragraphs of that total. If Person A wrote 10 paragraphs and Person B wrote 12, then that makes 22 total paragraphs. That is then turned into 110 total TP, which is awarded to both participants.
For Class 0 characters ONLY, they are able to substitute TP rewards for Ryo rewards. For every paragraph the Class 0 character writes individually, they are rewarded 100 Ryo. This Ryo does not apply to their thread partner. Their thread partner still receives TP rewards as they normally would. Only the Class 0 character will get Ryo. It does not combine their paragraphs with their partner(s). For example, if the Class 0 character writes 5 paragraphs and their partner writes 5 paragraphs, the former will be rewarded 500 Ryo while the latter will be rewarded TP based on combine post/paragraph efforts.
When learning a technique, you're basically earning the TTP for it. Some techniques do require specific training for them, meaning that the participant must actively work on learning and using that specific ability. Once the recommended TTP has been earned to learn that technique, the technique is considered at "Learned" and does not require further training to develop. TTP from any source can be spent on a technique after it has been learned, even if the technique specifically requires training. Please read "Section 1: Character Creation, Class, and Consideration" to learn what values are needed for techniques, and what parameters are necessary for teaching them.
