What a ridiculous fucking mission. That lazy fucking Captain just didn’t want to do his own job. “Just the job for you”. What a load of shit that was. Letting out a long and frustrated sigh, the man with a headful of gray hair bounced up and down against the cold metal floor. Mindless chit chatter was happening all around him but none of that mattered one bit. Not a single one of these other losers mattered at all. Not even the one he was here to meet. Try to play nice was what he was told. Like he was going to do something like that. If this fucking loser who he was supposed to meet with held him back at all, there was zero reason to lend him a hand. God when the fuck was this going to get started? Ivan Raikov had been waiting here for some time as more and more people gathered into the dark, cold, chamber of the docked ship.
”I have a mission for you! Don’t look at me like that. Stop it. This is something right up your alley. I’d do it myself but recently there have been other responsibilities with higher priorities that need tending to. Aaaaand I’m well aware you’ve been itching for more field work now that your injuries have healed. So! Cutting to the chase. There’s been some stirring happening in the Japanese underworld and I want you to find out what it is. Yes. I did say this was right up your alley just let me finish.”
“Do you know what the Kourakuen Association is? No, of course you don’t. I’ll keep it simple then. As the number of spiritual aware and awakened humans began to rise there are corporations in the human world that have begun to utilize them. When two businesses cannot come to an agreement on something, they’ll hire this association to arrange a means by which the two parties can settle this dispute. Using the most straightforward and human way possible. Violence. It started back in 1715, if I understand correctly, but with the recent wave of awakened humans it’s become much more popular than it ever has before.”
“Yours and your partner's task is simple. The Association is holding a contender competition in order to find fighters to be sponsored by corporations still looking for fighters. This is your in. I want the two of you to get noticed and picked up. See? I told you this would be your kind of thing. It’ll help get you back in the saddle after being in rehab for so long. Oh! Most important. You cannot. And I mean cannot. Let anyone know you’re a member of the Vandenreich. Neither of you can. If our enemies in Karakura found out two little baby Quincy like yourself were running around they’d eat you right up. So no revealing your identities. Got it? Who are you working with? That’s a surprise! You’ll figure it out.”
Lazy fucking Captain. He just didn’t want to do this himself. Wearing his usual combat attire of a tight fitting black shirt and gray martial arts pants, Ivan stood by himself in a corner either hopping up and down or stretching his arms. He wanted to get this over with. More and more people were filling the room. Ivan Raikov was a physically imposing man. Tall, muscular, and carrying a scowl and a bad attitude to boot. He just wanted to get this started. Tear into all these losers who were proclaiming themselves as “the strongest”. Ivan was going to show them what that really meant. But, for right now, all he could do was wait. He was on a mission after all. He couldn’t blow his fucking cover.
You need to relax.
”Shut the fuck up.”
Shaking his head to get that distraction out of it, Ivan stopped his hopping and leaned up against the cold wall. Crossing his arms across his chest, he had to wonder just what Captain Alistair was up to. Infiltrate Japans underworld? Why? What could possibly interest the Captain to have Ivan do this? But if all Ivan had to do was fight, then, he would fight. But the Captain was correct about something. Fighting a bunch of regular dipshit humans wouldn’t be too bad for him. The injury he received at the hand of that Shinigami took way too much time to heal. Physical therapy was necessary after it. Ivan was left on the back burner for way too long after that. His muscles had diminished in that time. He needed this workout to get back in shape. So maybe that was why his Captain was having him do this. Nah. It was because Captain Alistair was just fucking lazy.
