Seijuro is usually a very kind and caring mentor for those in the Tenth Division. However, he is extremely rigid in his beliefs about justice and morality, and as such, he can be cold and unforgiving towards criminals and murderers. As an individual, Seijuro feels stuck and has not been able to make meaningful strides in his own development for decades, making him feel inferior to many others. Still, he is a brotherly and just man who does his best to dutifully serve and defend the Tenth Division.
In the past, Seijuro was a very bold, brash, and adventurous man. He strove for strength and had a passion for fighting. He used to be one of the rising stars of the 10th Division, until he grew complacent. Now, as he trains new recruits and watches some rise beyond him in so short a time, his spirit has broken and stunted his resolve and his growth even further. Still, he remains steadfast and committed to the Tenth and has resigned himself to teaching and mentoring as of now, hoping that he will one day find a way to grow stronger and more useful to the Soul Society.

Release Form:
Hametsunotate takes the shape of a dual-bladed obsidian glaive covered in black scales. These black scales are constantly writhing, growing, and shrinking. In addition to what is seen above, Seijuro's left arm is covered in the same black scales, creating a small layer of armor on his arm.
Release Ability: Hametsunotate is a very simple physical Zanpakuto that allows the user to grow and shrink the black scales along the glaive and his arm. This is primarily used to attack while defending, blocking attacks then allowing the scales to poke out like thorns.
Sealed Form: Hametsunotate in its sealed form is a sleek, black Nodachi. It's design is simplistic, with no embellishments. It is simply just a Nodachi with a black hilt and blade.

Seijuro has been the 15th Seated Officer of the Tenth Division for about 50 years now. After achieving this rank and position, Seijuro had grown comfortable with his own strength, limiting him from further growth. That is, until the Hell Invasion a few years ago. Despite doing his best to fight the hordes of invaders that attacked, he was powerless in the face of true threats. Since then, he had been trying to steadily improve once more, but his broken spirit prevented him from advancing. In the most recent Invasion, Seijuro was even more powerless against the hollow that managed to completely demolish the Tenth Division Barracks, causing him to fall into deeper despair and inadequacy.
Current Story Status:
Now, Seijuro slowly rebuilds the Tenth's barracks as he feels the weight of his guilt and inferiority overwhelm him. He watches as Benjiro steadily outranks him and stands tall with even more potential. He even watches as Aya surpassed him and became the 11th Seat of the Tenth Division. He even watches as Aoshi, the murderer, had reached a similar level of strength already, leaving him left behind in the dust. His pride completely shattered now, he turns to the others for guidance and continued training.
