-Appearance-
Height/Weight: 70lbs / 4ft 2in
Physical Description:
Taking things from the top, which isn’t very far from the bottom I might add, we start with Cináed’s hair. She is without a doubt a ginger and a surprisingly dark tone of it also. Erring on the side of a rich pumpkin orange. She tends to keep her hair in what is essentially a pixie cut, preferring to keep the sides short and let her hair do whatever it wants on top. It has been known to occasionally look akin to a mop when it’s unbrushed. Especially given it curls naturally. Moving down from her hair it’s easy to see her eyebrows are the same color and she shows her Irish descent with a plethora of freckles that trace from cheek to cheek and connect over her nose. They never rise higher than her eyes and don't reach her lips. It’s literally a couple of pointed ends that meet and make an ever-thickening line of freckles that eventually coats her nose entirely.
Her eyes are bright green and seem to have faint rings of yellow that appear within the iris. As far as her nose and mouth go, they’re pretty lackluster. Lips that are on the thinner side and a nose that isn’t too big or too small, just sort of there when you’re looking for it. However what IS strange beyond belief is that she has cat ears. No human ears exist on her and instead just rise up on either side of her head. They can be partially hidden assuming her hair is frizzing up or is simply growing long. Their color is the same as her hair. Beyond that there are only a few signs of a cat-like heritage. An additional pair of canines on her upper and lower jaw, sharpened, claw-like nails on her hands and feet, The other most notable cat feature is her irises are shaped like thin needles. Beyond this she is an otherwise stock standard, albeit midget sized, female.
With regards to the rest of her body as mentioned she is SMALL. Like VERY SMALL. Standing at a whopping 4 ft 2in she is typically the shortest person in any given room. To this end her body is about as proportioned as you’d expect. A noticeably larger chest than her body as a whole with her legs and arms seeming like movable stubs by comparison. No worries though, she can use them as well as anyone else can. However what ISN’T normally seen is how many tattoos she has on her body. Technically speaking it’s simply one exceptionally large tattoo that has different themes depending on where you’re looking at. This is split between her right arm and hand, left arm and hand, upper back, shoulders, and around her collarbones and base of neck. For her right arm starting from the back of her hand and the base of her palm, the entire arm is coated in flowers, brush, cats, and bones. The flowers are of all different kinds and vary depending on where you’re looking. While the cats vary in age, color, size, and even if they are alive or not. There are a cat or two that are simply portions of their skeletons.
At the top of her right arm and on her shoulder the flowers are blown away towards her backside. For her shoulder an ominous looking figure rests here. They are humanoid and wearing a formal suit. The only color, beyond Cináed’s pale skin, are the petals blowing behind the figure that are hard to make out though horns are attached to the top of their head. There are also five white circles with roughly defined borders that give the impression of eyes. The remainder of its upper jaw and skull seem to be swirling black gas. This figure almost always appears to be watching both Cináed and whoever is looking at her. For Cináed’s left arm again starting from the back of her hand and the bottom of her palm are the twisted and gnarled roots of a tree. These branching appendages eventually return together and form the base of a tree. Said tree is unique for a couple of reasons. The first and foremost is that the tree, which covers the entire arm, is covered in strange symbols as well as crawling vines, rotten portions of bark, and the occasional flower or insect. This eventually becomes a collection of branches that end up being hidden away by leaves that are blowing away. At the upper arm to her shoulders, you can tell that there is a forest that eventually blends into a mountain range as well as another figure.
With regards to the mountain range, the tree’s get smaller and smaller as they begin to scale the mountains and eventually from the middle of Cináed’s back and up, there is a large mountain range. Their base is hidden behind clouds that swirl and move to and fro. The clouds occasionally get a dark blue or purple color to them where the mountains themselves remain greyscale. These trail up to the base of Cináed’s neck. As for her left shoulder a black cat is perched on her; however, the head of this cat is strange. This is because instead of a normal fleshed out face, it’s simply a skull. No eyes. No flesh. Nothing but the ink to define the skull’s curvature. The remainder of the body and even head at large remains furred and normal. The ominous figure as well as the cat each have an arm that reaches out and extends past the shoulder they are perched on. The cat uses its left arm while the ominous figure is using their right hand. The two end up meeting just over the top of her sternum and are being held together by the figure’s humanoid hand. The hand is gloved.
Last thing to note about Cináed is her attire. She is pretty plain jane. Unless she’s in the human world she’s almost always in her shinigami vestments. Black overall kimono, white undershirt, socks with sandals. She doesn’t typically do more with the uniform, preferring to leave it be, aside from making it appear crisp. With regards to where her zanpakuto is, she keeps that strapped to her right leg as opposed to her sash. She’s not typically big into jewelry or other accessories but she has been known to wear simple leather bracelets from time to time. And it should be noted that, under 99% of any and all circumstances you will never see her in makeup. She despises it and finds there to be no need to wear it. Thus you will always see her how she is at the moment. Even if that means she has crows feet, bags under her eyes, or cuts/wounds.

-Personality-
Dislikes:
1. Bladed weapons
Say what you will but Cináed just never understood the idea of an entire organization, at this day and age, being based on medieval weaponry. Kido is one thing. Even Hakuda makes sense because they are both supporting tools for one to have access to. But Katanas? Daggers? Polearms? Etc. Yea that she’s never understood. And frankly, she refuses to understand. Guns were invented for a reason. And the reason is they are simply more effective, even with magic weapon mumbo jumbo.
2. Poorly made food
Cináed was in the marine corp. And you know what they didn’t have? Fucking edible food. Sure there was “food” but it wasn’t actually food. MRE’s were about the best thing she had gotten during her tour in the military and by and large the second worst thing about it was that no one could fucking cook. Of all the things that will upset Cináed is when food, which should be warm, is cold. Few things make her nearly as mad as that.
3. Mental Health
Simply speaking, Cináed isn’t actually certain how this applies to herself or those around her. As far as she’s concerned, how you view the world is your choice. If you can’t handle it, suck it up or get out. The idea of “talking things through” doesn’t make sense to her when it comes to deeply personal issues, since 9/10 times it doesn't involve the other person.
4. Being listless
When there’s nothing to do Cináed is. . . unnerved. She likes knowing what tasks need to be done. She likes to have a schedule, with things in it. Completely open schedules with no specific timelines bothers her. She isn’t really good at just doing “something” so she needs a bit of a path to follow in that sense.
5. Exceptionally Tall People
Cináed is 4 foot 2in. Her neck can only bend so much. And if you’re over 6 feet and would naturally make her have to bend herself backwards to look at you? Go fuck yourself. Get shorter, move backwards, or spare a foot so that she can look you in the eye without needing to break her neck. If you won’t abide by any of these, she’ll make it happen. Shotnyan is always willing.
6. Responsibilities
Cináed isn’t lazy per say, she just isn’t fond of having to be responsible for other’s bullshit. She likes having her own personal freedom to do what she wants. When she wants. And if she fucked up, that’s on her. But making someone else's issues hers and making her responsible for more than herself? Absolutely not. It is lazy and stupid as far as she’s concerned.
7. Tea Drinkers
Which means, Cináed has issues with most of Soul Society, given they have coffee. The superior caffeinated drink. And instead they choose leaf juice. Absolutely disgusting. Sincerely not worth her time drinking AND it doesn’t hit like coffee does. If anything it's hot (or occasionally cold) water. And while water is necessary, the attempt to make leaves into “special” water is not. She will forever be baffled by those who like tea.
8. Waiting
All. The. GODDAMN TIME. She had to wait. Wait for this. Wait for that. Don’t be late or you’ll be punished! Only to get there early / on time and have to wait. Patience is a virtue and such a virtue is not in Cináed’s repertoire. She’s unwilling to wait for longer than likely a minute or 2 without some form of bribery given her previous life’s experience with “Hurry up and Wait”.
9. Stealth
Now you may be wondering why a person who dislikes stealth is in the Onmitsukido of all places. And the answer is she was dragged here. She was a part of the infantry damnit. Of course she comes in loud and proud. The more explosions the better it is. While she does not like Stealth or more subtle operations she can understand them however. And will try to follow some of the orders so long as she can scribble off some “mistakes”.
10. Soul Cycle
It’s a strange thing to dislike as it allows Cináed to be present even now. As well as should imply that she could / will meet her parents again. However, the problem with this is everything else that exists BECAUSE of the soul cycle. Not to mention the fact that people tend to forget what happens in their previous life. And she didn’t. The whole thing frustrates her and secretly, she wishes that there wasn’t one and that it was just “live your life and never again”.
Likes:
1. Food
All of it. Fast food. Home cooked food. High quality. Low quality. She loves all of it so long as it follows these 3 rules. 1. It’s edible and intended to be edible. 2. It is cold or warm as it should be. I.E. Ice cream needs to be cold. 3.It’s not made by anything military or military adjacent with a few exceptions. Looking at you MRE’s. Depending on the MRE, she would consider it just barely qualifying as “food”. But as mentioned if it follows these rules, she’ll be more than happy to eat whatever you put in front of her. Even if she doesn’t personally like it.
2. Kido
Ok, so Kido is a tool. First and foremost. It shouldn’t be used for fun or for non-important / strategic purposes . . . But goddamnit Cináed just loves Kido. Binding, Hado, even Kaido. It’s all super useful and it’s all incredibly fun to use. It’s basically akin to having superpowers and most of them are exceptionally showy which makes her so much more happy to use them. She hopes to be able to use the highest level of Kido when the time comes.
3. Cats
Big cats. Small cats. Extinct cats. Living cats. She loves all of them. And she’ll always attempt to collect the cats of any species so she can befriend them. As far as she’s concerned, even lions, tigers, and sabertooths are really just lil guys that need pets and hugs. If she had it her way, she’d make sure every feline in existence was under her immediate protection so that she could help them live their best life.
4. Infantry units
As far as Cassidy is concerned, by and far, the best individuals are those who are Infantry or equivalent. This is because no one else goes head first into a shitstorm and figures it out so they can come back. She has immense respect for them. Even Soul Society’s despite their strange desire to use blades instead of firearms. But she’ll never fault them for what they do and accomplish. It’s not an easy life and it never will be. But for those who can make it happen, she has nothing but respect for them.
5. Ranch Life
Cassidy was born and raised on a ranch. She won’t say it's the best life, nor will she admit that it's for everyone. But she likes the simplicity of it. Especially the fact that she’s always around farm animals. Chickens, Bulls, Cows, Sheep, etc. It’s sort of just comforting because even if her mind is at work collapsing on itself, the body can continue doing what you need it to. And more easily split the two. And by the end of the day you can always see how much you’ve done. So it always has a reward at the end. Let alone in the long term when you see animals grow up and be happy and healthy.
6. Hollows
So as silly as it sounds, she thinks of most hollows as animals. Weird as fuck and wildly warped in form but still animals. Which always makes her a little sad to have to kill them. And that’s just always sad because who enjoys seeing animals die? Cináed doesn’t. Either way, she likes hollows even if it's only for superficial reasons. She secretly hopes she can tame a few down the road.
7. Body Modification
Tattoo’s, piercings, etc. If it lets someone change themself to be how they want to be, she’s here for it. She has an utterly massive series of tattoo’s on her body. It's readily apparent that she’s a fan of making herself appear and feel how she wants it to. And she’s always in support of that. So if anyone else wants to do such, then she’s going to support and maybe even, excitedly, push them for it.
8. Fighting
Fighting reminds her of when she was in the Marine Corp. It lets her feel like she’s back to being “normal”. Before all this shinigami bullshit and supernatural crap. And to some extent she is happy to have the spiritual crap because she can now have her imagination fuel how she fights. Namely being in the form of Kido. But at the end of the day, fighting is simple. You attack, your opponent attacks. You respond, they respond. And it's just back and forth until someone wins or someone loses. Whether death or unconsciousness. It’s simple and easy to understand.
9. Listening to Chika’s Chuunibyou Rants
As mentioned, Chika is “interesting” in several ways. One of which is her rants such as her Quest from the Soul King, Starcursed Brand, her incredibly edgy backstory, and how she wants to learn the incredibly powerful techniques passed down through the Onmitsukido group for generations. These are just a few of the conversations that Cináed has listened to Chika speak on and admittedly it's calming because it's so ludicrous. She may not know what a Soul King is but Chika is certainly passionate about it and if nothing else, it's gotta mean something. Even if it's based in fiction.
10. Exploring the Human World
Cináed never got to do much exploring, despite having been in the Marine Corp. Thus now that she is involved with the Soul Society she likes to take the opportunities given before or after a mission to explore. Maybe try something out and experience a life she never had the chance to experience. See things that she didn’t realize were even present in the world. She’ll always be tempted to go on a misadventure and explore at least a little bit.
Flaws:
1. Avoids thinking/talking about her death
There’s a number of things Cináed can manage and maybe even think over her personal issues. But the death she experienced with regards to being eaten alive and then cut in two by someone she didn’t recognize. It haunts her. She doesn’t really know how to deal with the fact that she’s died once before and is terrified of what happens should she die again.
2. Brash Attitude
Cináed, as mentioned in the previous flaw, has some issues that she doesn’t like to really deal with. Thus, instead of actually trying to work through them she instead likes to work around them. Never acknowledge them and instead act like they don’t affect her. Hence why she retains her previously genuine brash and gremlin energy. So that she can continue to feel like herself without actually thinking or giving energy to the things that do haunt her. It also helps she likes to feel self-assured so flaunting and having the means to back it up makes her feel strong.
3. Cracks jokes in tense/serious situations
Given the fact that Cináed struggles to deal with trauma, hers or another's, she tends to lean into an antithesis to being upset and depressed. Thus, when things get to be too much for her, she slips into breaking the mood by cracking jokes. Good jokes. Bad jokes. Strange jokes. It really doesn’t matter. Just something to bring up the mood and shift things. It’s honestly more of a knee jerk reaction at this point than her deliberately trying since it's her “running away” mentally strategy.
4. Phagophobia - (Fear of being eaten alive)
Cináed after having been partially, if not completely eaten, when she was alive now because she remembers that experience has an intense fear of it. While she likes the aesthetic of hollows and what they can be, she is still paranoid that they will try or succeed at eating her. Given she was already basically eaten alive once before. She’ll do almost anything within her power to prevent being eaten in any capacity. This does extend to other forms of being “eaten” like vampiric blood sucking for example.
5. Feels Caged
It’s not hard to imagine why. Cináed left her home, of relative freedom sans the expectation of inheriting the ranch. Joined the military where everything was incredibly specific for how, when, and what to do. Died and was reborn in Soul Society where she didn’t know what to do because it's a whole other world and then joined ANOTHER military organization. So for most of her life, she has felt caged by uncertainty or by responsibilities or ideologies she HAS to adhere to. While she prefers the military because there’s a familiarity to it, she still doesn’t like how she has to do what others want. And not what she wants. Even if she doesn’t really know what she wants.
Habits:
1. Makes Nya(Nyan) puns
This could simply be the influence of Shotnyan given that for one reason or another Cináed became a cat-girl. But whatever the reason is, Cináed is perpetually inclined to make cat puns. Let alone say Nyan or Nya at the end of her sentences or in lieu of certain words. Such as Excellnyant for example.
2. Walks with her hands on her head or in her pockets
Another personal habit of hers given she knows she’s not “supposed” to do it. She will walk exceptionally casually all the time. Regardless of what she has to bring with her. Such as paperwork, her dagger, other tools, etc. She will attempt to be as casual and unconcerned in form as possible.
3. Flex on others when she’s got an advantage (perceived or real)
Cináed loves to feel strong, hence why she likes to be flashy and over the top with her abilities. Thus when she sees an opportunity where she can just trounce on her enemy she capitalizes on it. Going further than strictly necessary and trying to show superiority to everyone around her. This can include gimping herself if she wants to “play” with another even if it's strictly going to make things harder on herself.
4. Make excessively violent threats
Cináed is just a little bit unhinged in this regard. Normal threats don’t do anything in her mind. You really need to make sure whoever you’re threatening understands just how close they are to toeing a line they really don’t want to cross. And she personally likes to make sure there is a bit of extra flare (fear for their wellbeing) put into her threats. To make 100% certain she’s expressing her distaste for whatever is going on at the moment.
5. Cursing all the time, every time, in every sentence. Usually.
She’s prior / currently military. . . it’s expected at this point. She really doesn’t give a fuck if its unnecessary. She’ll say what she wants. How she fucking wants. Happy, Sad, Crazed, etc. Besides in her mind, curse words are there because there’s nothing quite like them. They’re both fun and expressive in exactly the way that she likes.
Fears:
1. Being eaten alive
As mentioned Cináed has a deep-seated fear of this because she’s already gone through it. Thus, she will literally lose herself if she’s put under serious threat of being eaten again. She will do quite literally anything within her power to keep herself from being eaten, including detonating herself or using kido point blank in order to ensure she will not be eaten alive. Almost anything is better than that.
2. Never seeing her parents again
It’s a fear that’s basically already occurred. As of this moment she’s really not allowed to visit them. She does on occasion make the trip but she absolutely cannot interact with them. Regardless this doesn’t stop the fear that she will come back and they just won’t be on the ranch anymore. Maybe due to a natural disaster. Hollows. Or some other out of nowhere event. And it irks her every day.
3. Remaining bound to Soul Society forever
She . . . understands why she’s with the shinigami. Understands it was her choice. And she even understands that it has to end at some point. But that end point may be her death. And she just does not want to remain a warrior forever. Even in her after life. She wants to be strong, sure, but she also wants to do something else down the line. Be someone else. Maybe even find her parents and be with them for awhile again. But the fact is, one does not just “leave” the Onmitsukido. Not without dying honestly. And that extends to Soul Society also. So, this is sort of an existential fear of hers.
4. Getting over her trauma
It’s safe to say that not everything that’s happened to her is good. And in fact she has a shit ton of trauma. But that’s all hers. If she were to forget it or it were to disappear or if she got over it. Then who is she? What’s left after that? The good is nice but it's not enough for her to rely on but all the things that have made her life shit, have defined more of her life than those that are good. So is there anything left of her that isn’t the trauma and issues she’s carrying with herself? It's a scary thought and one she isn’t super willing to find out the answer to at the moment.
Goals:
1. Cast or create the highest tier of Kido possible
Cináed adores Kido. More than she likely should. And you know what? She’s not even going to hide it so instead she is actively attempting to learn more and more kido. To learn the most destructive kido. All so that one day she can handle the epitome of kido or create her own epitome and then be able to use it against others. And regardless of how unaligned that idea is with the Onmitsukido, she’s going to go after it. 100%
2. Leave the Gotei 13
Try as she might to stay with them. Cináed needs to learn how to stand on her own two feet and not rely on an organization to tell her how to live her life. So at some point she needs to figure out how to do that and start taking steps in the right direction. The ultimate expression of that goal being that she does not need to stick around Soul Society and can make it on her own more or less. It’s lofty but one that she hopes she can do on her own terms when she’s ready. Hopefully without any major repercussions.
3. Learn to tame hollows
This is her most well-kept secret. Cináed wants to go back to ranch life. But obviously cows, chickens, etc aren’t going to cut it 100%. So Cináed wants to be a more “exotic” rancher. She wants to have the supernatural version of standard or otherwise “natural” creatures. I.E. She wants hollow versions given they are akin to animals as far as she’s concerned. And she genuinely believes that there must be a way she can achieve this. Especially once she’s mastered Kido.
Alignment:
Neutral Good
Overall Personality:
To describe Cináed accurately it needs to be understood that she is sort of split. Mainly in how she handles things externally and how she handles things internally. Cináed on the outside is pretty intense and highly extroverted. Speaking loudly, talking with anyone who's going to give her the time of day, and making sure her opinions are made VERY clear to those around her. That includes the fucks who think she’s fucking weird for being part cat. Something she had literally no control over. Whereas internally she’s a lot more solemn. Thinking on things but only ever going just under the surface because she isn’t always certain how to handle or otherwise manage the issues from her past or in the present. And thus tends to like to skirt around them or otherwise ignore them. Bury them even under the things she wants to do, likes doing, or that distract her thoroughly.
With that said, let's focus on her external personality. The face that people regularly see and that, to a degree, is pretty genuine for Cináed. Cináed, as mentioned, is an extrovert. She walks and talks with anyone who wants to talk. Hell sometimes starting up the conversation even if someone else didn’t want to talk. Or is trying to avoid her. Sometimes aggressively so given she isn’t fond of people trying to ignore her. And heaven forbid you piss her off. She will walk right up to you, yell at you, curse you till you're blue in the face, and possibly throw hands if the issue is big enough. A lot of what Cináed does is to attempt to make a show out of things. In part for her own amusement. But also in part because it hides the less desirable signs of deeper issues. And part of it is because she’s just used to being a bit “extra” about everything nowadays. She’s like such given her time with Dainn and Teras and will inevitably continue to be.
For all her loud and proud talk though, most of the time Cináed is a relatively alright person to deal with. Assuming you can filter through some of her word choice and tone. Because as mentioned, she’ll say what she wants. And she curses like it's her day job. And she doesn’t apologize for any of it. Being around her is akin to being around a small storm at times. Sometimes it's raging and other times it's just easy going. But it’s always a storm. With friends or individuals she’s closer to, she may attempt to curb certain phrases, lingo, or slang that she’d otherwise say. But ultimately things still slip through. She does not however cut out the bluntness with how she says things. That’ll never leave.
Thankfully once she’s genuinely decided you’re a friend, gods help anyone who so much as looks at you funny. She will stop whatever she is doing and immediately instigate something. Namely a yelling match. And if they don’t immediately bunch up and ball up mentally/physically she’ll just as quickly start a fight. She’s not going to let people insult or otherwise look down on those around her. Herself is one thing. She may have earned it. But they’d still better be ready to own up to it. And let’s not forget, Cináed has gremlin energy to her. She is always looking for things to exploit about others. Fears, weaknesses, etc. If only to get a rise out of others and poke the red button. This can go too far as sometimes she gets too into wanting to mess around and make fun of issues. And given she doesn’t apologize about them, it’s a bit of a hurdle to get over sometimes.
Now looking more inward we see a completely different Cináed. One more reserved, one who is much slower in reaction, and someone who is frankly uncertain about life in general. There is a sense of chains and other burdens that while she acknowledges internally will never begin to allow herself to express outwardly. At least not normally. Things can and will more often than not make her sit down after a conversation or event and have her thinking over it. Wondering if she was going too far. Being too much. Maybe even being too into this persona she’s developed. And it only gets worse when she thinks about her previous life, parents, and her death.
In fact most of everything she feels is fear. Fear of change. Fear of death. Fear of the future. Fear of loss. She’s dealt with all this before . . . sort of. Choosing to never fully acknowledge and really come to terms with it. She instead treats things like a momentary dip in her personality. Sort of living through it and trying to not let others in on the secret before she returns to her usual self. But the ghosts of trauma in her past haunt her always. Such as her fears of being eaten alive. She still gets nightmares over it. Has nightmares of dying in various ways. But utterly refuses to talk about it. Reveal it to others. All because she takes the old military mentality to heart. It’s your problem so you deal with it. Talking about it to another isn’t going to solve or fix the issues. And sometimes it's just a matter of “Nut up or Shut up”. All of these she believes to be true and will do her best to not let herself sink into the depths of the issues she continues to ignore.
Worse yet is if someone catches on. Or otherwise sees her experiencing what she’d call “A mood swing”. She will readily disregard any assistance as well as act like nothing happened. Especially after the moment passes. Sometimes she even gets aggressive about it, trying her absolute best to bury the issue between them and actively return to ignoring it. Because again they cannot help her deal with her issues. They cannot fully understand them nor does she want them to. So it's up to her to pull up her britches and figure them out. But to those who catch on to the subsurface issues her actions start to become quite clear. Revealing what was once a confident persona as a means to hide things away. To scare others off and even attempt to convince herself that she’s not got any issues going on. Or that they are completely behind her.

-Powers-
Fighting Style:
Cináed has many preferred methods of fighting. Shooting things. Blowing things up. Using magic to do one of the first two. And even once in a while decides that she’ll be smart and throw out a binding kido or two. Whatever the situation calls for and whatever floats her boat at the moment. Summed up, she likes being somewhat at a distance and barraging her enemies into ash, dust, or literal stains on the ground. This isn’t to say that she doesn’t like the occasional up front and personal approach but rather it's an acknowledgement that she really can’t sustainably fight like such. Thankfully she has a shotgun to make her a serious threat at short range but within fist throwing distance. . . she may just be at a disadvantage. But before we go into the specifics let’s just put it out there. Cináed is not a fan of losing. And she’ll play dirty when she needs to if it means winning. This usually involves using the environment, setting up traps, or otherwise using whatever is within arms reach if it means she’ll get an opening. She does admittedly though have a passion for being flamboyant about it. And thus if it explodes or causes collateral damage. . . well. It’s high on her list of things to use.
Now let's talk about her preferred fighting style. First and foremost she wants her enemy at a moderate distance. Say 30ish feet at the closest and about 150 to 180 feet at the maximum. Why? Because she understands that even the incredibly fast can only do so much when she’s firing bullets. Well, less “bullets” and more fireballs. Regardless they are fast, they explode, and they typically have a pretty sizable reach both in area and range. So it’s not hard for her to ensure someone gets put into a corner or otherwise takes a hit they’d prefer not to take. Unfortunately for her though people of the spiritually inclined are fairly durable so this likely means several shots must be fired. This is why she aims to be as potent in her spiritual capabilities as possible. The stronger her spirit, and by proxy her gun, is the less times she has to hit someone before they A. Die or B. are incapacitated. And let’s be honest, she’s aiming for the first of the two. She’s killed enough normal people to typically know the difference and prefers that things do not in fact come back to haunt her.
With regards to her preference between her gun, magic, items, or literally anything else it’s always her gun first and foremost. In her mind, she developed the thing, she better damn well use it. Magic on the other hand is an accessory item. Like hand grenades. Useful. Damaging. And highly impactful given they are used properly. But she cannot rely wholesale on them. If she were to do such, she’d find herself in a pretty bad predicament. Namely without any gas in the tank. So, her goal is to spread them out, be impactful, blow shit up, chew bubblegum, and call it fucking day. By the end of the fight at least. Items are not out of the question, but she has a pretty heavy-handed preference for magic. So. . . it’s not hard to see where her mind goes first. Plus, technically, she can’t “run out” of her magic. Items she can. But still, she’ll use what she can. Her preferences are towards the more “standardized” military variety. Yes, she can and will use the magic mumbo jumbo that she found. But it doesn’t always suit her style, or her mindset and it irks her somewhat to not have things go how she plans.
Now let’s move on and focus on her not so preferred fighting style. Long and drawn-out fights. I.E., someone who can take what she’s throwing and not give a shit. This comes in several flavors. I’m too fast and you can’t hit me. I’m too tough and you can’t break me. I’m too far away and you can’t touch me. Or her least favorite, you activated my trap and now you're ineffective. All of these both frustrate her and put her in a weird position. Too fast and she can’t react or properly retaliate. Making her effectively a sitting duck as she typically needs time in some capacity to get a spell, item, or even aim up her shotgun. With those who are too tough, she’ll burn herself out trying to wear them away. Which ultimately means when they finally do start to do something, she can’t keep up or worse yet she’s out of cards to play. Neither of which are particularly fun to be on the receiving end of. And with those who are too far away, the title says it all. She has a range. A sizable range even and Kido can help elongate that range further. But there comes a point when something is simply too damn far away to hit. And if someone can effectively fight at that range, she’s effectively just out of the fight. Ranged specialists will out range her, and she’ll have to actually think about how she will close the distance or bait them out. Neither promising idea.
Inner World Appearance:
Cináed’s inner world is a fucking sight to behold. Amongst any and all things that should be possible, this inner world is something that seems to be ripped straight from fiction. Namely the premise of a “Hollow Earth”. Simply put the entire realm that contains the inner world is a series of tunnels and wide-open spaces that are absolutely flourishing with life. Plant life of all kinds and no kinds exist here, and they grow EVERYWHERE. Scaling up and into the ceiling high in the sky above this expansive tunnel system. It should be noted that the caves seem to travel in all directions and to others, similar in theme but distinctly different zones. It seems as though the realm is truly only limited by Cináed’s creativity. Now as for the world beyond this localized paradise it’s hard to say. There is a single cave that shows the sky outside, as well as the sun assuming they are lined up, hinting at the possibility that surely there must be something. But whatever lies outside always seems to be infinitely far away. As even progressing in the direction of that tunnel just never seems to get closer. On the flip side, nor does it ever seem too truly be far away. Maybe shifted or otherwise found in another location but never gone.
It should also be noted that there are various liquids here. Sizeable lakes, ponds, and even rivers connecting them. Occasionally hidden springs dot the hardstone and ground. Some even spawning from the ceiling and creating a great waterfall. Along with this is lava. Occasionally also forming rivers and lakes of the boiling substance. The deeper one goes into this world the more this becomes apparent however there is another instance when this is apparent. And that is when it gets dark. Surprise surprise, there is a day and night cycle in this world. And when the sun isn’t shining directly into the massive tunnel entrance or it's simply gone for a time, the caves reveal a sprawling and incredible spectacle. The stone in the ceiling boast an array of dimly shining metals, veins, and other precious stones that shine like stars in a night sky. This is coupled with lava veins that run throughout the ceiling that heat up but do not melt the veins in question. Causing a spectacle that allows for a nighttime sky with the particle effect of galaxies and nebulae.
With regards to where the spirits within Cináed reside this is easily answered. For Shotnyan, she resides in what is a fairly unassuming hut. Distinct given its man-made as opposed to the natural arcs, rock formations, and lush greens of the surrounding area. The hut never varies in place as it is next to a lake of water, sitting on a small hill nearby. The base is dug into the hill about 3 feet in and uses rocks as a rudimentary fence to keep a distinction between hill and walking space. The walking space is about 10 feet in each direction with a few tools, smaller huts, benches, or other smaller furniture around such as a cooking pit and several rocks to use as seats. The inside is a single room building. There is a small sectioned off “bedroom” that exists on the second “floor”. But this is more a ladder and a couple pillars holding up a wooden floor that has a bed of furs on it along with a chest.
The main space is filled with bones of creatures that likely don’t exist, a small closet of several different kimonos, and a few shelves of tools and other painted pictures of different parts of the inner world. The right wall is entirely dedicated to various weapons and is uhh. . unique to say the least. It ranges from older types of weapons to modern guns. All held on the wall by placards made of rock. Throughout the room is basically grass and soil with a small tree in the center that holds various knickknacks on it. A few more benches, chairs, and even a kitchen exists in the backside of the hut, under the “second” level.
Enenra on the other hand has a bit different idea when it comes to where she prefers to reside. Unlike Shotnyan who enjoys being more in tune with the natural world around her, Enenra likes to show and exert a bit of specific influence with regards to the portion of the world she calls her own. Specifically, she prefers to have a traditional Japanese temple as her abode. For upwards of 200 feet around her abode there is no plant life. The world around has been grinded and worn away until it is sand with the occasional large boulder or every ten of feet from one another. This is intentional as she prefers to enjoy lack of life and the constant perfection that is her rock garden. It does help that Enenra has her abode built on a cliff on the tunnels themselves. So, she not only has a functional stairway as a walking path to her abode, but she also has a pretty spectacular view of the world at large. It should be noted though that her section of the world tends to be less vegetated and rockier. This also includes having lava rivers and water rivers flowing throughout her slice of the world. Some that were actively carved to make the pathways they travel, others naturally perfect.
With regards to the temple itself, it is surrounded by a thick 6-foot wall of what can only be assumed to be polished stone. The wall isn’t very large however and only stands 3 feet tall with a half a foot roof made of black painted wood. The temple within is surrounded with a few particular choices of plant life. Namely in patches where Enenra has allowed them to grow. The remaining space is entirely another rock garden with shifting sand that moves around based on some current produced underneath the surface level. The temple has polished wooden floors, not a speck of dust, and has many many sliding doors with tatami mats throughout. There is always incense burning from little sconces outside and around the temple's walkways as well as in every room. Each room has a different incense burning while the temple as a whole smell of sage.
There are several buildings to the temple as a whole. A storage building, a main building, guest abodes, a couple tool buildings, and simple connections and archways through which any guest or Enenra herself can walk through. Technically there is one “building” dedicated to an actual specifically cultivated garden by Enenra but that is open as it has no roof over its central section and simply is a collection of walkways with two levels and various plants around. The main building is a two-story building as well, with the first floor being spacious and open. Rooms are connected by sliding doors and host a kitchen, a meeting room, a general living space, and even a personal storage room. Meanwhile the entire second floor is almost entirely a personal lounge / bedroom for Enenra herself. Furniture of all kinds and cultures exists here and it changes depending on the day, mood, and guest that may or may not be visiting. Whereas the first floor is always Japanese in appearance.
Zanpakutou Spirit Appearance:
Shotnyan is curious for one big reason. For a being named “Shotnyan” which is ultimately a pun on “Shotgun” you’d expect there to be some level of cat-like features to the entity in question. . . And yet, there isn’t. Shotnyan is simply a human woman. Looks to be in their early 30’s with flames perpetually around them. Usually at the ends of a barely worn kimono but occasionally at the ends of their sleeves or even replacing their hair. Beyond this feature and a surprisingly accurate attire for traditional Japan, Shotnyan is incredibly normal. Bright red hair that occasionally develops streaks of ginger, blonde, and everything in between. This hair is just a bit past shoulder length and usually kept in a ponytail or just let loose. With flaming ruby eyes, dark red lips, and flawless skin, Shotnyan is a striking woman. At least as far as her face is concerned. Her ears and nose are nothing specifically worth writing home about as they are just there and are kind of drawn away from due to the other features of Shotnyan.
What ISN’T surprising about Shotnyan is that if you look beyond the kimono, you’ll find patches of burned skin. Sometimes it simply looks red, others it's minor peeling. And some you see where the skin has actually warped and semi-melted even. Showing that despite the comfortable look and seeming control of her flames, Shotnyan has been burned quite literally by her own fire. This is mostly on her arms and back. Her legs are surprisingly blemish free. As for the remainder of her attire and body it's about what you expect. She’s evenly proportioned and has some light musculature showing. The kimono is most of her clothing as she has basically a partially burning skirt wrapped around her waist via a sash. Said sash looks as though its burning and releasing embers as flecks of gold across it. The sash is typically tied fairly tight around Shotnyan’s waist. Beyond this the only thing she has for her upper body is a chest wrap. It seems exceptionally tight as you can see the skin not bound by it dipping at the edges.
Lastly are her traditional Geta, small wooden sandals with two rectangular blocks to serve as “heels”. These are worn with surprisingly similar socks to the shinigami uniform, just a bit shorter and looser. Beyond this would be accessories to which there are none normally, sans some hand wraps she keeps on. These wraps look akin to the same wraps that she has across her chest. Occasionally however, Shotnyan feels pretty spicy and decides she’ll make her own. Out of flame. The flames she uses range in a broad spectrum from red and orange, to purple, green, and white. She even mixes and matches colors together like orange that melds to blue. This is typically only done for special occasions and are usually limited to earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and a fan when she’s feeling particularly extra.
Inner Hollow Appearance:
Fake: Fake Name: Nemain
Standing at 5ft 3in Nemain is a bit short compared to a standard woman. Her form is lithe and seems untouched by stress or aging as she’s not quite old enough to be considered “Middle Aged” but is older than a “Young Adult”. She’s somewhere in the pleasant middle ground. Like Cináed, she has red hair but it's far more vibrant and actually red. As opposed to Cináed’s ginger color. Typically, she keeps her hair in braids preferring a single long braid as opposed to multiple. But she has on occasion added one braid on either side of her hair to change things up. Nemain can be considered fair by most people's standards as she has blemish less skin and no wrinkles to speak of. With a petite nose, thin lips, and big bright eyes she’s something of a pleasant experience to look at. It helps that talking to her is generally pretty relaxing as she has a calm and even tempo when speaking. Enunciating clearly and generally being pretty concise and careful with her word choice.
This is even more noticeable when there is a negative situation or some other problem at hand. Typically going so far as to express physically that she is thinking by curling her hair, humming, or otherwise close her eyes and think. Her voice is light and soft, easy to listen to, with a requesting undertone to hear out what she has to say. Typically, her expression is a small smile, sometimes flaring into a full megawatt smile when someone has something good happen to them or for herself. The biggest oddity that can be made readily apparent is her eyes, namely her irises. They are akin to looking into flames as they are bright and have 3 rings of color that repeat in a specific order until reaching the iris. This order is Yellow, Orange, and Red. And more interestingly these colors dim or brighten depending on her mood. But given her easy-going attitude and general pleased expression they are almost always bright like a flame.
Moving beyond her face, the remainder of her form is about what you’d expect from a shorter woman who doesn’t work out. She’s got a healthy body shape, not too much or too little in any one area. Noticeable curves around her midsection and moderate bosom assist in giving her a very feminine feel to her. Additionally, she’s usually not wearing makeup of any kind whether it's eyeliner, lipstick, or even nail polish. Instead preferring to keep to a clean business attire look. Which brings us to her typical clothing choice. She mimics in a way the shinigami uniform by wearing a button up white undershirt, with jacket and slacks that are black along with dress shoes. She does “get creative” with her choice of tie but typically sticks to solid colors, usually some variation of red to match her hair. Occasionally, when the weather is “intolerant” for a period of time she will pull out a black or tan trench coat to wear.
A curious point to note though is that sometimes her aura or “energy” is occasionally a bit off putting. Almost aggressively compelling despite her caring and patient words / body language. And sometimes when she’s looking at someone or something it can almost appear as though she’s looking through the individual or object in question. She usually claims this to be her losing herself in thought and doesn’t notice. More so than anything however is the feeling of knowledge / wisdom. It’s hard to fully place into words but she carries a weight that can only be described as “Experienced” and thus easily slips into a sort of mentor figure with her speech and mannerisms.
Real: True Name: Enenra
Where the fake form is used to lure Cináed into misunderstanding the true nature of Enenra, the real form cannot be mistaken for anything but a monster. This is most easily noted as she stands at 9 feet even, not including horns. True to their species is nothing but a hollow shell of a person, taking only on the basic outline of a humanoid shape. I.E. two legs, two arms, a head, and a torso. Where Enenra has a head, there is also a crown of horns that start at just two in tall and are at the edges of Enenra’s hair line closest to their ears. These horns curve upwards and slowly grow larger as they get to the inner ends of each eyebrow, sitting close to the hair line above the forehead. These horns grow until nearly a foot in length. Each of these horns look like a tree caught in winter. Grey, shriveling, and with smaller branches attempting to reach out past the main trunk. These horns are light gray and are dull in color. The base of the largest horns along with those closest to them are hidden behind long strands of pure white hair. At its longest these travel down to the upper portion of Enenra’s back. Her eyebrows follow the same color scheme.
Meanwhile her eyes maintain the rings that are seen in their false form except the colors are gray, blue, and purple. This repeats in this order until the iris is reached where it is pitch black. The sclera, usually white, is also pitch black only helping make the iris’s pop out. Depending on Enenra’s mood these brighten or darken in shade. Beyond having slate gray skin Enenra’s face remains fairly similar to their false face. Soft and rounded. Large eyes, thin lips, thin eyebrows, and a petite nose. Their teeth remain in perfect order with a small difference of several more canines and their gums/tongue being darker shades of gray. Their teeth are still pure white however. It should be noted that while their tone echoes as they speak, there is still a definitively feminine aspect to it. Even daring to remain soft as velvet and faking concern and care where the word choice would definitely show there is not a fuck to be given. And last but not least, a quick mention on their hair, they still keep it braided though where and how large the braid(s) are vary on their mood. Most frequently the braid is a single long braid behind the center of their head.
As for the body at large, let's start with the easiest to describe. The hollow hole. Unlike most hollow holes that are clean circles, Enenra’s is akin to a whirlpool given her very form swirls into it. Also to note, it is impossible to see through despite it being within the center of her chest. This hole is visible on her front and backside. The backside is usually partially hidden by her hair however. The remainder of her form is again vaguely feminine in physique and shows minimal if any muscle beneath what can only be described as ripped, torn, and spiked gray-black clothing. Most notably however is the fact that there is an edging to each spike/torn end that is stark white, akin to a sun bleached bone. It’s hard to tell if the entire “clothing” that is being worn is hiding skin or if it’s not just warped flesh and bone. A point to note however is that on her backside there is a definite streak of bone that travels from her neck down to just above her tail bone and is without a doubt, her spine.
This line of bone, broken only by her hollow hole, extends past the bottom of her spine and creates a long boney tail. This tail has a sharpened end that looks akin to what a normal person’s tailbone would look like except the tail as a whole is wrapped in the same folding, torn, “clothing” that most of her body is adorned with. Around the base of the tail are even a few more “coat tails” that look akin to smaller tails but without the bone detail and look more akin to strips of gray cloth. There are two of these upon each side of her tail. Another point to mention is that she has winds, two sets, on her backside that extend from her shoulder blades and reach out to 15 feet long. The inner set is a bit shorter at 10 feet total. The bones of these appendages are readily able to be seen, similar to her spine and tail, however unlike her tail which looks to have ominous cloth wrapped around it, this looks like dried out skin and flesh that makes the wings. If one looks hard enough it almost looks like arms, hands, and other appendages were melted together to create the wings.
Finally, for her arms and legs, they look pretty humanoid in shape and form. With the exception of being longer and thinner than looks normal. Her arms are 5 feet long while her legs are 6 feet long and look particularly thin. She has no easily seen feet however and instead seem to have hooves at the front of her feet and a 4 in heel at the back of her foot. As for her hands, these are akin to pianist hands. Long, thin, and emaciated given the bone and tendons are easily seen on them. Yet regardless of how taught the skin is, the skin seems smooth and bright like the skin on her face. There are black nails but these are the same as human nails as opposed to claws. Lastly her reiatsu is easily seen even by those without points in ES as she emanates a sort of light blue reiatsu, the same color as the rings in her eyes, that perpetually manifests from around her body. Usually at the wings edges, her arms, feet, and tail. All this together almost makes it look like she has a perpetual storm around her.
(Mix these two references together)
Zanpakutou Appearances:
Sealed:
There are a great many things that are strange regarding Shotnyan but the most strange has to be that its base for its sealed form is simply a knife. A chef’s knife specifically. That’s the strange part about it, it doesn’t really come off as any truly offensive weapon that a zanpakuto could have. At a glance the only thing that truly makes it special is that it’s both high quality spiritual steel and that each side has a cat paw imprint on the blade. But that’s it. Otherwise the weapon has a wooden handle that’s about 6 in long, 3 in thick. The blade itself is about 9 in long, 1 in thick and has only the bottom portion of the blade with a cutting edge. The back is squared off until the tip. Aside from that, it has a lovely leather sheath that is kept on Cináed’s thigh by a couple straps. Completely and unapologetically incapable of being a truly combative weapon.
Shikai:
Now if you thought a chef’s knife was as ridiculous as this was going to get, Shotnyan has a whole new level to take you to. First and foremost, Shotnyan is exactly what it sounds like, a goddamn shotgun. And not just any shotgun but a custom quintuple barrel shotgun arranged in such a way as to imitate the shape of a cat’s paw. The main barrel is in between and under the four other barrels. The additional barrels are connected to the upper portion of the main barrel. The main barrel is about 3 in. in diameter while the subsequent barrels are 1.5in. in diameter. The actual length of the barrels themselves are a 28in making the weapon nearly half as long as the user is tall. And that’s only the barrels.
The actual length of the gun itself is 3 feet in total with the additional 8 in coming from the butt of the gun itself. At least this version is not as completely ridiculous in how it looks. While yes a quintuple barrel shotgun is exotic to say the least, the weapon itself is pretty much just that. A quintuple barrel shotgun with little to no flare. The butt and handle are made of ebony wood and the spiritual steel that makes the barrels and firing mechanisms are gunmetal gray with no engravings.
Bankai:
At Bankai Shotnyan gave up all capability of attempting to be concerned about its appearance. At this stage the weapon itself is heavily engraved where there is spiritual steel showing and also has the wood look charred just a couple steps away from charcoal. To add to this the spiritual steel as well as the wooden portions look to have veins throughout it that glow and change color. This can shift from bright yellow, to orange, and end at red. The color shift is more of a show about how close Shotnyan is to “Inferno Shot” starting at yellow when it's furthest away, then changing to orange, and ending at red when the next shot is an Inferno Shot. But that’s not all, the barrels now have a rusted and warped color to them akin to aged steel.
As for custom engravings let's start with the mechanism themselves. There are multiple. Four in fact. One for each adjacent barrel that has the face looks to be some kind of cat head though it looks obviously warped and demonic. These heads glow a deep read and their maws are open revealing embers from within. The main barrel had the upper skull of the same demonic cat that has glowing eyes and little veins of fire over its muzzle and skull. The ears for said cat actually create the sight by using the ears to narrow one’s vision down the barrel. Subsequent “ears” assist with this with little bumps that look to be the back of other cats' heads. Beyond this, any portion of Shotnyan that isn’t the latter half of the barrel and is made of metal looks akin to being “flame washed”. I.E. engraved with flames into the metal itself and looking warped in color to create a dark glow to it. Namely a dark yellow/orange hue.
Zanapkutou Release Names
Shikai: Time for a catnap, Shotnyan!
Bankai: Knock my enemies off the counter, Shotnyan!
Overall Ability:
Shotnyan’s overall ability is pretty simple. Shotnyan is a five barrel shotgun that fires out a variety of different kinds of fireballs. Supposedly made of the flames of hell if Shotnyan is to be believed. Every shot explodes but the ranges and size of the bullets change depending on the shot fired as well. Finally it has a couple unique properties. Namely that every time the shotgun is fired it produces a soft “Nya” sound. And the bullets as well as the explosions are produced in the shape of a cat’s paw. Purely aesthetic given that Shotnyan and Cináed both enjoy cats immensely.
Shikai Overall Ability:
Shotnyan is unexpected in a lot of ways. Namely that Shotnyan is a shotgun in form only and instead of firing bullets it fires out flames. Now to make things even better is the fact that these are not just flames but instead are the flames of hell. Or at least they functionally act like and visually appear to be such. If they truly are, it's anyone’s guess. Regardless, these flames come in three different flavors of “bullet”, based on the 3 main types of bullets that shotguns use. Birdshot, Buckshot, and Slugs. Each type of “shot” has its own benefits but it should be noted that the speed at which these are fired at is the same for all ammunition. 800 for Shikai and 1200 for Bankai.
Each shot on hit induces a knockback effect. This effect throws whatever object or entity back 5 feet per hit with Birdshot, 8 feet per Buckshot, and 20 feet per Slugshot. These values double in Bankai. Knockback is reduced by an individual's percentage of Cináed RS using their Strength Stat. I.E. IF someone has 600 Strength and Cináed has 900 RS, the knockback distance is 1/3 of the total value from how many pellets hit.
Lastly Shotnyan has a limited number of shots (which includes release techniques) that can be done before Shotnyan has to be reloaded. In Shikai, this caps at 3 shots. In Bankai, this caps at 5 shots per shotgun. Reloading Shotnyan can be affected by enhanced movement techniques like Shunpo Karin.
Birdshot: As expected these rounds are most numerous and widespread. Every shot fires out 20 baseball sized pellets that spread out in a cone shape up to 80 feet away with a maximum spread of 50 feet in all directions. To find out the spread at closer ranges it is simply a percentage of the maximum depending on the maximum firing distance. When each pellet comes in contact with something it explodes and has an explosive radius of 2 feet in each direction. The downside to this ammunition is that each pellet alone is only worth 30% of Cináed’s RS. Thus, in order to actually suffer her full OS an individual or target must be hit by 4 or more of the pellets. This also has a debuff when coming in contact with armor/defensive abilities as this reduces the OS to 15% per pellet. These cap at Cináed's RS in Shikai and cap at 1.5x in Bankai.
Buckshot: For Buckshot rounds these are the middle ground. Having only 10 pellets per shot and reaching a maximum range of 120 with a spread of 25 feet at maximum spread. Spread ranges are based on what percentage the shot is at away from the user. On the flip side the pellets are larger than birdshot, being the size of basketballs. These pellets also explode on contact at a maximum radius of 5 feet on all sides. Similarly, to the birdshot ammunition buckshot does not have Cináed’s maximum OS. Each pellet uses 50% of Cináed’s RS as OS and unlike birdshot this ammunition has no penalties against armor/defensive abilities. These cap at Cináed's RS in Shikai and cap at 1.5x in Bankai.
Slug Shot: For Slug Shot this is about what you expect. This is a single round shot that can reach a maximum of 250 feet away from Cináed. This has no spread but is by and large the largest ammunition she can fire as the size is equivalent to a beach ball. And when this comes in contact with an object/individual this reaches 30 feet in each direction. Additionally, this has the most punching power allowing for it to have a 25% boost to breaking armor/defensive abilities. Items suffer 25% more durability damage.
Bankai Overall Ability:
For Bankai Shotnyan is made infinitely better by simply having double the shotguns present. But since Bankai is all encompassing Shotnyan comes with more than a simple addition to Cináed’s free hand. Shotnyan has an “Inferno” ability where on every third shot fired by either gun Shotnyan empowers it dramatically. “Inferno Shots” can occur as many times in a thread as possible. The shot count for each gun will be tracked in a spoiler at the end of every post. This comes in the form of a choice that Cináed can pick, however only one can be picked at a time.
The choices are as follows:
Cheap Shot: The shot in question can be reduced in reiatsu cost by 50% if it's a non-release technique. Or if it’s a release technique (unless otherwise noted) is free.
Explosive Impact: The shot in question doubles in all dimensions and has an additional piercing power against any defensive ability by 50%.
Rapidfire: The shot fired is now 1.5x the speed of what it would normally be.
Double Tap: An additional shot is fired from the shotgun for no additional cost.
The other benefits are as follows for each basic ammunition:
Birdshot: Maximum number of shots is 50 pellets. The pellets are now double in size with double the explosive radius. The maximum range these pellets can reach is 200 feet while the spread maximum is 100 feet. The armor/defensive ability reduction is now at 7.5% as opposed to 15%.
Buckshot: Maximum number of shots is 25 pellets. The pellets are double in size and explosive radius. The pellets also create short range shockwaves upon impact that reach out 5 feet from the explosive radius. The maximum range is also 250 feet with a maximum spread of 50 feet.
Slug Shot: Two shots are now fired at the same time 5 feet apart. The size and explosive radius are 3 times their Shikai equivalents. 500 feet is the maximum range it can reach. This ammunition is 50% stronger against armor and defensive abilities. Items now suffer full OS as durability damage upon contact.
Zanpakuto Techniques:
Shikai Techniques:
1. Flare Shot:
This technique changes the ammunition fired to what are effectively flashbangs and the results are about what you’d expect. It produces an incredibly bright light as well as an incredibly loud sound that is generated upon impact with a surface. The range for the debilitating effects come into play at 20 feet and under, 21 feet to 40 feet, and anything over 41 feet. If an individual finds themselves within 20 feet of the flares they are subjected to an intensely bright light and deafening explosive sound. This causes blindness and deafness for 2 posts regardless of if an individual is facing the flare or not. This can be reduced to momentary blindness and deafness at the start of an individual’s next post so long as an individual has a 3 in Focused Eye, Battle Focus, or Calm Mind. For those within 21 to 40 feet the blindness and deafness is reduced to 1 post unless an individual has a 2 in Focused Eye, Battle Focus, Calm Mind. For those over 40 feet they are momentarily blinded if they look at the flare as it explodes and will be momentarily deafened. The only exception is for those with 600 senses or higher in which case they will need to follow the previous skill check to ignore it.
Drawbacks:
So long as you’re not within 20 feet of the flare, blindness can be ignored by simply turning away from the explosion upon its initial impact. Blindness and Deafness can be mitigated with Battle Focus, Focused Eye, and Calm mind. Cannot cause harm even if an individual has the flares detonated on them. Costs 150 reiatsu per shot fired. Those further than 40 feet away are generally immune to any skill check.
2. Magical Cylinder:
This technique allows Cináed to channel any reiatsu based non-release technique through Shotnyan and alter it in the following ways. Shotnyan increases the base speed of an attack to the base speed it fires out ammunition depending on the stage of its release. The base element of a technique changes to fire if it was something else. Fire adjacent techniques, I.E. lava, are unaffected. Otherwise the technique operates normally. This can allow abilities that are usually non-offensive to become damaging and use half of Cináed’s RS as the OS for newly damaging aspects. With regards to Bankai this does allow “Inferno Shots” and their effects to apply to non-release techniques.
Drawbacks:
Technique costs are multiplied by 50% in Shikai and 25% in Bankai. Has a post limit of 2 times in a post this can be done regardless of release stage. Any tracking effects are lost by using this technique. This shot has a range of 75 feet in Shikai and 150 feet in Bankai. After this range the technique dissipates harmlessly. Drawbacks of the non-release technique still apply and are ineligible for certain Inferno shots if they would not otherwise be allowed. I.E. A kido with once a post clause cannot be double shot.
3. Napalm:
Unlike any ammunition previously capable of being shot, this is the first one that adheres to whatever it comes in contact with. Allowing an individual to continually burn alive every post they do not douse or otherwise remove the fire. Napalm shots have a short range of 50 feet but can spread to 30 feet in diameter and coat whatever they come in contact with. Without an individual dousing them, Napalm shots last for 3 posts and can be maintained by continuing to fire more Napalm upon the same individual. For every post an individual continues to have Napalm on them they will immediately suffer a burn. This starts at first degree and continues until an individual is at 5th degree. I.E. the portion of their body is consumed. Bone and all. This is assuming they do not win an OS clash or have the requisite heat tolerance to ignore it.
In Bankai the Napalm further attempts to hinder opponents by adhering them to objects around them. This requires 75% of Cináed’s OS in Strength or Equal/Greater spiritual stats to ignore.
Drawbacks:
Can be completely nullified by dousing one’s body in water. This can also be nullified by points in Heat Tolerance. 3 Points for Shikai, 4 points for Bankai. Individuals with higher OS act as though they have points in Heat Tolerance. For every 25% higher OS they are considered to have a single point in Heat Tolerance. Those without enough Heat Tolerance to ignore the burn but have points in Heat Tolerance burn slowly. Increasing the time it takes to transition a burn to another stage by post for every stage after the first point. I.E 2 points makes burns transition every two posts. A 3 for bankai makes it every 3 posts.
Bankai Techniques:
4. Hellfire:
This technique is a passive ability that upgrades all ammunition fired from Shotnyan. First and foremost it attempts to injure foes that would otherwise normally be immune to the fireballs produced by Shotnyan. This is done by burning away at more than simply the body of the user and instead burning the soul. Mechanically this changes any “immunities” gained from abilities/powers not stemmed from Shotnyan into requiring 2.5x Cináed’s OS or having a 4 in Heat Tolerance in addition to OS Superiority.
Secondly it adds trajectory adjustment and spreading aspects to all ammunition. This allows ammunition to shift up to 180 degrees so long as Cináed pays 100 reiatsu upon firing whatever munition she has loaded. As for the spreading aspect, upon detonating or coming in contact with a surface or individual the fires will begin spreading to whatever they come in contact with, acting like water. The only objects this will not spread to are bodies of water as well as ice structures.
Drawbacks:
Individuals with immunities act as though they have a +2 in Heat Tolerance with regards to checks. This can give individuals a 4 in Heat Tolerance if they already had points in it. Water and Ice cannot be lit on fire. Spreading is limited to available surfaces. 90 degree shifts in movement reduce the speed by 200. 180 degree shifts reduce the speed by 400. Adjustments must be done while within 120 feet of Cináed. After this range the ammunition cannot be adjusted.
5. Cleansing Rounds:
This technique is insidious for one reason and one reason alone. It burns away additional effects. I.E. For a cost of 400 reiatsu this allows Shotnyan to be loaded with a specialty ammunition that actively seeks to consume foreign or otherwise excessive reiatsu. Specifically in the forms of active stat alterations, damage over time effects (of a spiritual nature), skill enhancements, and any alternate resources. Upon this round coming in contact with an individual, it lights them on fire with black flames. These flames actively feed on the reiatsu used to achieve different effects and thus instigates a clash between Cináed and the individual (or effects of an individual assuming she hits an ally). Should Cináed win this clash the flames consume all stat/skill alterations, over time effects, or other ongoing spiritual effects. Following the burning away of these effects Cleansing Rounds actively work to prevent their usage. With regards to Reiatsu costs and Alternate Resource costs these are both increased by 20%, rounded up, while an individual is wreathed in black flame.
For the following 3 posts an individual is wreathed in these black flames they will find themselves subject to a clash for every attempt to generate a stack, alter their capabilities, or otherwise become subject to damage over time. Should they lose the clash the effect does not take place and the reiatsu is wasted in the attempt. If Cináed’s initial attempt did not succeed, so long as the individual is enwreathed the clash instigates every post with the OS of the opposing individual reduced by 15%.
Drawbacks:
A 4 in Heat Tolerance ignores this technique. Can only be produced once every other post. In the case of allies or Cináed any effects that would help them that fall under Over time Effects, Stat/Skill alterations, and spiritual effects will immediately be consumed in addition with any negative effects. Also allies Reiatsu and alternate resources gain the increased 20% cost increase. This has a maximum range of 60 feet. Only affects spiritual based abilities, physical ones that push the body beyond its limits without the aid of reiatsu are immune.
6. Nyashes to Nyashes:
This is Nyanshot’s most powerful technique and is typically reserved for when Cináed is shit out of luck against someone. This produces what is known as the “Ash Round”. This ammunition is very special in that should it come in contact with an individual it will simply turn whatever portion of the body, surface, or technique it came in contact with into ashes and prevent it from being regenerated or healed, for the duration of the thread. (In the case of an individual being hit.) This round is fired at 1.5x the base speed of a Bankai ammunition and has a maximum range of 20 feet. This is due to the round itself actually firing out a twenty-foot cloud of pitch-black ash. In order to prevent this, avoiding the attack or otherwise being out of range is the optimal solution. Otherwise, a 4 in Heat Tolerance as well as OS Superiority is required. Points in Heat Tolerance gained via exceptionally high OS are not capable of being applied unless the individual has 3x Cináed’s base OS.
Drawbacks:
This technique is incredibly potent and thus the drawbacks must also be potent. This prevents the shotgun used to fire it, from firing anything for 2 posts after the post it was used in. This also makes said shotgun physically weaker, making the OS needed to cleave through it with ease being 1.25% Cináed’s OS. Costs 600 reiatsu to use and has limited range. Can be blown away by wind/shockwaves with an OS equal to 1.5x Cináed’s OS. Cináed is subject to being turned to ash if fired too closely. Cheap Shot cannot apply to this.
Mask Appearance:
Sigil on the forehead of the mask:
Cináed’s mask is a curious one, looking far off from a standard hollow mask given it doesn’t actually show any sign of the white / rocky substance that typically creates them. Instead it looks like it was made out of wood and polished by hand for several years. The surface is smooth to the touch and even the jagged portions look as though they were intended to be jagged. As opposed to an accident or a mistake happening. Even more unique about the mask is that said mask is actually humanoid in nature. Specifically the upper jaw and skull of a human. Albeit again despite being made of wood. The eye sockets still hold twigs of “sinew” that stretch between from one side to the other in thin strands. The nose protrudes out but holds a divider within to show the sides of the previous face’s nostrils. But unlike a standard skull there are no teeth. Just the jaw bone and then a jagged surface.
Even more curious and perhaps unsettling is the fact that there is a symbol etched into the mask itself. It’s hard to describe it without saying that it was intentionally made hard to describe. This is in part due to the fact that the engraving is actually done by shifting the layers of the mask’s forehead away. Some areas are carved much deeper and others only just being the barest hint of a carving. The case usually being that the further from the center of the forehead an individual looks, the less deep the carvings are. Whereas the closer you look at the center the deeper the carvings are. At best it looks akin to flowing water or vines. Occasionally with branch offs. But that only focuses on parts of it. Whereas the whole almost looks akin to a second skull layered into the mask. Whatever the case if one looks at it too long you can start to get the feeling of being watched.

Memorable Figures:
Cináed’s Memorable Figures:
1. Caesar C - Leading officer for Cináed’s particular platoon in the Marine Corp. Unknowingly also the reason that she was attacked and killed. Also the main reason she stayed in that group was only to continue to inspire fear into her superior officer.
2. Chika Hirabayashi - She is memorable for SEVERAL reasons. Some. . . not so great but most are for good. Such as when Chika brought in food and it was warm, let alone well made. If for no other reason Cináed sticks around Chika. That and the other amuses her with how “energetic” she is.
3. Dainn Agash Kasumi’Oji - A curious individual she met while she wandered the Rukongai listlessly. Uncertain of what all she was going to do in her life. He allowed her time to figure out what she wanted to do and ultimately pushed her to join the Academy since he felt she had the means to succeed.
Enenra’s Memorable Figures:
1. Kimiko Shihoin - Specifically as the woman who killed her. Ending a nearly 800-year reign in Japan as a monstrous yokai and as a major threat to Soul Society as well as the spiritual world at large.
2. Cassidy Cailín - The last person Enenra was trying to kill. And the one who could have possibly saved Enenra from dying as a whole, or more specifically from being purified by Kimiko Shihoin. She’s tenuous about their relationship given now she’s a second fiddle and yet she holds so much control from the background. If nothing else, this is possibly a second chance at killing that captain Shinigami, if she can take over.
3. Teras - Whereas Cináed was more personally inspired by Dainn, Enenra was more conflicted / Confused by the interactions between Dainna and Teras. Teras, while she is uncertain as to exactly what they are, she knows they are not normal. And certainly not a hollow. And yet, despite an obvious sort of leeching personality on Teras’s end the two have a curiously amicable relationship. It baffles Enenra as she believes Teras should be the one in control given he has more apparent power than Dainn.
History:
Cináed Cassidy Cailín. It’s a name that means so much and so little at the same time. Especially considering how much of herself is left in the past. Let’s start at the beginning. Cináed is the one and only daughter of Mary Cailin and Eryk Cailin. Two well off ranchers that lived vaguely within the vicinity of Helena, Montana. Her younger years were pretty much as one would expect from the daughter of a pair of ranchers. Filled with animals, farm work, down to earth values, and as much love and care as can be given to a child. That’s not to say everything was perfect. No she had to learn the meaning of death given they slaughtered their cattle and other animals as per the trade. She didn’t exactly have many opportunities to be more than a rancher given she was in Montana and mostly went to school and then came home to help out on the ranch. When she was old enough of course. Hell she wasn’t even used to there being a large amount of people given that while she was near the capital of Montana, it's still Montana. Meaning it is by no means filled with a lot of people. Especially not compared to those outside of her state.
But aside from the occasional hard lesson things were relatively normal for her. She grew up without much to want for. Was very much a wild child at times and ended up doing well in most areas of life. Having a small but close friend group, having good relations with her family most of the time, and pushing through the bad things. Like family members passing, animals being raised to be killed, and the expectations that were to come down the line when she grew up. The first real issue came to be when she was just out of highschool. Having passed with decent grades and even had the chance to possibly go to a college her parents and herself had a major disagreement. She had a desire to continue to see the world at large. Leave the state and go find out what was out there. Maybe even give up the ranch if she found her calling to be elsewhere. Her parents on the other hand were unconvinced and against the idea. She would inherit the farm. One way or another. They couldn’t give it to anyone else after all. They didn’t trust other family members and they weren’t knowledgeable enough to actually handle it.
The fact that Cináed even considered the idea of doing something else and if push came to shove, selling the ranch ended up being a deeply upsetting experience for everyone involved. Things were said, feelings were hurt, and at the end of it Cináed left her house and stayed with one of her friends for a short period of time. It took time for both parents and Cináed to get over the explosive argument but ultimately, they came to terms. After all, what kind of family would they be if they just broke apart after one disagreement? Another discussion was had and ultimately the conversation turned to something more agreeable. Cináed wanted to go see the world. Experience everything it had to offer. Meet strange and interesting individuals. Get opportunities that may not be otherwise available in Montana. But Mary and Eryk had ultimately no one else to give the ranch to when their time came. So, the agreement became, that Cináed could go to college. Whether on the family’s money or whatever scholarships she could get or even a loan was up to her. And she could ultimately do whatever she wanted for her major. But at the end of the day, she had to take the ranch and not just give up the family legacy. At least, not while they were alive anyway.
Cináed begrudgingly agreed if only because it felt like agreeing to trade off her future for something she wasn’t certain she wanted. It wasn’t the easiest thing to do but it beat not having her parents and being at odds with them, so she agreed. Thus, after a year of looking and digging into what she wanted to do Cináed applied to college and was accepted. . . . Her time there didn’t last long. For one thing, Cináed had always been a bit more of a rowdy child. A little bit crazy and did things how she wanted. This didn’t pan out well because with those she had issues with, she ended up making sure they were resolved. . . in the worst way possible. Usually in a fist fight or in front of others. Ultimately, she continued to cause and “resolve” issues and those resolutions lead into other issues. She never made it past the second year before she was expelled and had several “stains” on her academic record.
When she came back to the ranch, she fell into well-worn habits and simply went back to ranching with her parents. Not talking about things. Not acknowledging what happened. And not willing to try and change things. This continued for a couple years until she finally had other issues boil over. She still wanted to see the world at large. Still wanted to experience things. Be more than what she was at that moment. And she couldn’t do that where she was at. This time however the conversation was far more one sided. She’d made her decision about how to handle things this time. And had thought over how she’d do exactly what she wanted. She had signed on to join the Marine Corp. This. . . went even worse with her parents than her desire to go to college. But the reason was far easier to understand. They were highly concerned for her well-being. Sure, she’d make it through the training, as far as they were concerned, but it was what she would be doing after that scared them. Namely because their daughter joined none other than the infantry of the marines.
She would be at the front lines, god knows where, seeing the worst the world had to offer. And she would be on the receiving end of enemy attacks. If she weren’t a part of the main attacking force for whatever the Marine’s objective was. They were utterly terrified and highly concerned for their daughters' well-being. Cináed however tried, unsuccessfully, to smooth it over by saying she’d be fine. That there was nothing to worry about. She knew how to handle a rifle and would get trained on whatever else they needed. Plus, she tried to include the fact that she was already used to fighting given her upbringing. It didn’t go over well. And it especially went even worse because unbeknownst to her parents she’d already signed herself off and was going to leave in a few months down the line. The fight was awful. Things were thrown. People were hurt physically and emotionally. If the first major fight was bad, then this was a whole new level of worse. And it basically tore the family apart completely. This only furthered Cináed to remain on her chosen path thinking nothing more than “She’d show them how easily she’d be killed.”
Before long, the day came when she had to ship off. Her parents didn’t get a goodbye. She never told them the specific day and they didn’t want to know. Little did either party know, this was the last time they'd have the chance to speak to one another. Well, speak to each other while Cináed was alive anyway. Speaking on that, let's shift our perspective to Enenra, resident inner hollow to Cináed. Enenra is an old, old hollow. Nearing the age of 1 millennia given she was originally a human born around the year 1,000 A.D. Enenra’s human life is cloaked for the most part in mystery given she herself has forgotten much of it and admits that what she does recall implies that she was not anything of particular note. The daughter of a pair of farmers. Destined to make ends meet just to survive. Life was hard. Food couldn’t always go around. People stole from one another or outright killed one another. It didn’t help that all of the nearby farmers were under the authority of their wealthier fellows who owned large swathes of land and had the sheer muscle in mercenary groups to back it up. It wasn’t long before Enenra died, somewhere around 12 years old.
How she died though, that is more interesting that what immediately comes to mind. She died in a hollow attack. Something that happened in the middle of most villagers at the time and most associated her death with a possible curse or karmic justice that occurred to the family that deserved it the most. She was mocked. Ridiculed. Her family shortly thereafter, though unknown to Enenra, was made to go through a living hell before they too passed on. But for Enenra she was killed via her head being eaten whole. Then waking up and seeing her body beneath her and a beast the likes of which she’d only heard of in legend. Something akin to a tengu but less humanoid and more bestial. She was killed almost instantly and consumed. However, her final thoughts as she glanced around her and saw the villagers boiled down to pure anger. Vengeful hatred and an utter desire to see them all suffer. The fear they were experiencing in that moment wouldn’t be the last. And then she died but somehow again wasn’t gone. Instead, it was crowded. Squished together with others. Screaming, wailing, and a cacophony of other sounds became her constant for an unknowable amount of time.
And during this time her anger grew. And grew. And grew until she finally lashed out. Lashed out against every voice she could find, silencing them and eventually finding the loudest voice and breaking it beneath her. With a great roar of will she shattered the voice into nothing and subsequently realized that not just the final voice but all the voices from before were gone. Silenced. And without realizing it she was back in control of a body. Her body. But not the same body. Different. Stronger. Stranger. Warped. And when she looked into a nearby pool of blood from a towering monstrosity that was dying, she realized why. Though she was about the size of a person, she was anything but human. Her form was wisp-like. Smoking constantly and shifting as she desired. She could sense and experience new inputs from the environment around her. And even that was different. She’d been in a more forested section of Japan but now she was somewhere with far larger trees. Trees that looked akin to monoliths of stone. The air was stale with the exception of blood laced in it. The distant cries of pain, agony, hunger, and howls for packmates echoed endlessly before being consumed whole by the silence of the world around. And last but most importantly, Enenra as she tried to piece together what had happened to herself couldn’t recall but a few key moments.
A family from another time. Faces blurred. Expressions that were hard to read. Her emotions were distant like a memory of something she used to know. She couldn’t even imagine her previous form. Only able to conceive her current form. And then the flashes of memories not her own. Of places, times, people, she could never hope to recognize. She was more than just herself, despite only being herself. There was no other being within her and those around her were nothing but food. Her mind warped with a deep guttural need to consume and gorge herself on everything that moved. And so she did. Feasting for a time that she could only vaguely recall as kill after kill after kill. One day stumbling into the human world again and even more curiously in Japan. Only for the same cycle to follow. Kill, eat, kill, eat, kill, eat. Until one day she finally found herself relatively sated. And when she looked around herself, she found naught but the remains of a burning village surrounding her. With a single man who was looking at her dead in the eye and was losing himself in fear. She smiled at him menacingly and beckoned him off. She’d find him later, if she felt like it. She did, after all, know of his scent. This was how the rumors, later stories, and finally myths of Enenra a Yokai of Japan began to spread around.
For the next several centuries Enenra killed who she pleased. When she pleased. None of the humans could stop her after all. And even less could even notice her presence when she was actively letting them know she was present. Though she did start to realize that most who could see her smelled better. Like there was more of something to them that the other humans didn’t have. Something she wanted more of than the other humans. Something that made them taste better. So began the nearly 800-year reign of Enenra finding and killing down shinigami as well as humans of some spiritual potence. One after another falling to her hands, to her mists, to her will. All of which became consumed. And halfway through she started to recognize that the shinigami were steadily getting stronger. They started to recognize her. Track her. Attempt to hunt her down. Some with mild distinctions compared to others. Most notably those whose swords could shift into something more. Enenra played with them all. One by one. Sometimes allowing them to find her. Sometimes finding them when they least expected it.
It was all a game to her. Fun with no consequences sans a few cuts, bruises, and the occasional burn. All of which she recovered from with ease and all with a full belly. Her form didn’t grow stronger during this period, but her mind however did. And she began to slowly get cleverer using her powers in devious ways. Manipulating the humans around her like pawns in an ever-greater scheme. Her goals never reached further than the kill she had planned for the moment, but she knew, if she’d wanted to. She could have gone for more. She just needed to learn how to better manipulate those who interacted with. How to interact with them. What they wanted to hear. How they wanted to hear it. But as with all fun and games, things had to end at some point. And that ending came from none other than Kimiko Shihoin. Resident captain of the Onmitsukido at one point and nothing short of a prodigy. At first Enenra thought nothing of it. She could kill this one when she felt like it but like all shinigami she wanted to play with her first. Test her out some. Then swoop in for the kill. . . . This didn’t happen. She’d be caught on the receiving end of Kimiko’s ploys. Tables twisted and turned. Situations that previously favored Enenra were shifted completely. A few times even had her caught within a group of several dozens of blackened shinigami.
Enenra managed to endure these frustrations and losses. Slowly growing more and more clever. Mimicking her now apparent rival but the problem with mimicking is that without understanding the true point of an action cannot be readily determined. Thus, came to one “bought” that truly began Enenra’s downfall. Enenra had thought she was hiding, having just recently lost a game against Kimiko. She was still recovering as she’d been given more than a few injuries over this last game but then from nowhere came Kimiko. Unheard. Unseen. Undetected. Enenra’s hiding spot having long since been discovered and the recent games having been but a matter of information gathering. Setting up for the final kill. There were no extras this time. Simply Kimiko, her wolves, and Enenra. The two clashed and while Enenra got a few solid hits in,she’d lost an arm in the process. Along with several new and dangerously close to mortal wounds. She had to retreat. She had to leave. Quickly. Before this woman got the killing blow. Before Enenra was nothing more than a body on the ground. She dispersed herself, managing a narrow escape through basically luck alone. Luck being that a wound she’d given to Kimiko had her hesitate on a blow that would have otherwise hit her.
With her escape successful, she ran. From town to town. Village to Village. City to City. Island to Island. Unbeknownst to Enenra she had been running from Kimiko and her subsequent attempts to kill her in the process that she finally ended up in Manilla of the Philippines. It was here that she finally decided to make a stand. Determined to kill the vermin that had come dangerously close to killing her. It was time to end this game once and for all. It’s also here that Enenra and Cináed finally met. Having been 9 years since Cináed had left the homestead and she'd traveled around the world. She’d been serving under Captain John Johnson, a strange but otherwise amusing officer. Having learned years prior that this particular individual had a curious fear of those of a smaller stature. To which she was in fact, small enough to apply for. And through thick and thin, strange occurrences, and all other manner of military bullshit she remained ever present. A few wounds, more tattoos than some of her squad mates, and a jaded edge to her that hadn’t been present previously. She was well and truly a marine and had been for several years. Proving to those who decided that she wasn’t until she’d damn near broken a couple limbs in the process.
The mission was supposed to be simple. She was supposed to assist in guarding the embassy of Manilla. Standing watch for the most part with loaded weapons, primed and ready for an event to occur. But nothing was supposed to occur. Nothing human anyway. Enenra however had other plans. A curious thing about Enenra was that she had an ability to manipulate others with illusions. Smoke and mirrors if you will. The problem child was that this smoke was highly poisonous and by human standards, meant they were dead men walking once under its effects. Which almost always meant free food for Enenra. Enenra having long since understood who was “stronger” amongst the humans she’d seen she found herself drawn to the embassy given the multitude of strong and capable individuals present. They could if nothing else, buy her time. Time needed to get the killing blow on Kimiko. So, she used her gaseous body and while the embassy slumbered with only the marines present, she spread her smoke through the ventilation. Coating every space within and nearby exits of the building in her corrosive presence. It didn’t take any time at all to hear the screams of those losing themselves in their own personal illusions.
Cináed by this point was simply patrolling the exterior of the building. It was a standard night. Nothing happening in the city, at least nothing where they were at. But something felt off about the area. Maybe it was instinct. Maybe it was her spiritual potential peeking through, regardless she suddenly had her gut wrench in fear. A quick look around showed nothing of significance. After all, it was 2 am. Nothing should be going on. But then she saw it, smoke. Dark gray, ominous, and completely filling every window she saw. With eyes wide she immediately picked up her radio and called in a report about a fire. Once she’d been given confirmation of the remainder of the marines as well as local authorities' arrival, she took it upon herself to enter the smoking building to try and save her squadmates. After all, this shouldn't have been a mission where anyone died. And she’d be damned if she didn’t get at LEAST one of them back. The problem came when she broke open the front doors to the embassy. She was immediately assaulted by the smoke and subsequently fell into its poisonous illusion. The world around her changed and she was no longer in Manilla; she was in what could only be called a hellscape.
The world was on fire. Ember and ash were raining down around her. The sky's darkened and thundering. Lightning bolts jumping from cloud to cloud and occasionally striking at bodies that had long since been charred to nearly bone. The world was destroyed and in rubble, the ground broken and dried to the point that it looked like the ground should fade away to sand. She screamed out in fear and confusion. Not realizing that while her mind was reeling at how she was transported straight to Hell, she was physically moving around and beginning a fight against Kimiko and her wolves. Enenra at this point having controlled no less than 30 marines, stocked up on weapons, munition, and additional “tools” felt that she’d gained nothing less than a formidable group to take on Kimiko. She knew the other could conjure wolves to assist her. But said wolves could only do so much if they were distracted. Enenra knew that in the brief time the wolves were being dealt with that she had to kill Kimiko lest she either die or have to start running again. And she was unwilling to run any further. Kimiko would either die or attempt to retreat this time.
Kimiko didn’t make Enera wait for long. Possibly 30 minutes at the most she’d arrived with an impressive number of wolves at her side. Enenra and Kimiko didn’t waste any time getting into it. While their assistants fought tooth and nail below, Enenra and Kimiko took to the skies to face off. No trickery, no hiding, no bullshit. They were each gunning for the other’s throat. For a time, it was one for one. Enenra got a hit. Then Kimiko got a hit. Each reeled from the others blows but came back to slam into one another again. And again. And again. Shockwaves were let loose and destroyed buildings. While smoke and poisons were released that eroded away others and spread further than the immediate arena the two were fighting in. Yet even despite Enenra covering the entire nearby area in a dense and noxious smoke cloud Kimiko never faltered. It baffled her. She should have been deliriously poisoned. Her organs likely liquefying from how much poison she had to be breathing in. Toxins circulating throughout her body, Enenra could see the ever-growing blackened veins throughout the other's body after all. Yet she never faltered. Blow for blow she came back and was somehow getting stronger? Or perhaps, Enenra was getting weaker. Old wounds that weren’t healed up or that had been healed up were opening. Her spirit though potent didn’t compare to her body which was significantly weaker. The final blow was ultimately decided when the two tried to jump one another. Enenra dispersed so she could reappear behind her and try to decapitate the annoying shinigami.
She never got the chance. She reformed herself and as she attempted to strike Kimiko the other was already looking at her. Arms in motion, two palms heading directly for her chest. Upon connecting Enenra felt everything shatter within herself. Blood black as the weight of her sins spilled out from the new sizable hole in her body as well as out of each limb. Her body broke and continued to further break apart as shockwaves traveled throughout her form. It was unthinkable to her. Every trick, every power she had. Failed her. Even separated from her wolves she’d been bested. Her body fell through the mist and into the rampaging battlefield below. The results had actually been the complete opposite for the war below. The wolves had been blasted, shot, cut, and broken apart. And though they regenerated time and time again they just continued to get torn to shreds by the modern weaponry from that time. Cináed alone had felled 5 wolves herself. The illusion she was stuck in prompting her to fight as all she saw were malevolent dire wolves. Blackened and coursing with dark energy.
Time and time again she’d killed or injured them, only for the wolves to heal. To rise back up with another to their pack. She was at her wits end despite having continued to blast them down again and again. To make things worse, she’d realized she could see others fighting the same strange creatures. All of which were her allies and she’d seen several of them go down. With a fury she didn’t know she had within her she’d begun to manhandle the wolves by herself. Intent on saving her squad and returning to Caeser. He’d know what to do without a doubt. He’d pulled them through shit time and time again by this point. As she was in the process of killing yet another wolf of hell, she felt herself fall down. A weight of something like rubble had her pinned to the ground. Flames from beneath began to sear at her underside as the ground itself rapidly heated up from what looked like lava. Enenra had fallen on her and was struggling to stay alive. Thought after thought racing through her mind about how to end this. How to come back. She’d realized she had slammed into something, namely someone beneath her. But could she possess them? Normally she would without a moment's notice and would have never given it a second thought.
But now? On the verge of death? She couldn’t help but wonder if she could. But she couldn’t let Kimiko win. She couldn’t let her get away from this fight without her death following. She couldn’t allow it. She WOULDN’T allow it. And thus, with what little strength she had left, she turned herself over, grabbed Cináed’s head and smashed their faces together. Her body evaporated and was rapidly absorbed by Cináed’s. Cináed experienced several things at once. The shattering of the illusion, relief, then immense fear at whatever fucking monstrosity she was looking at. Unholy pain from both a wolf and Enenra, and then something akin to heavy chains and weights throughout her body. It was sluggish and struggling to respond. In fact, it almost didn’t respond and when she tried to scream out, she couldn’t. She could see, hear, feel the world around her but there was something wrong. Her body wasn’t hers anymore and to put the nail in the coffin she heard herself screaming in a warped and inhuman fashion. Her body got up, her mind screamed profanities at a new woman she hadn’t noticed previously. She immediately ran off, producing further smoke from before while grabbing a couple more bodies. Only for the most sickening act yet to follow. She began to eat the bodies of her allies. She felt stronger as more energy entered her form. But the unending disgust of what was going on drove her insane enough to actually force out a scream from her body.
Enenra was rapidly trying to regain some level of strength so she could go kill the shinigami woman. And was rapidly diving into body after body. Ripping out chunks of flesh from each body and her own practically jumping from one to the next. At some point finding a pile of bodies and her own diving headfirst into the pile the sounds, the feeling, the taste was agony and caused her to snap mentally as she tried with all her strength to break free from whatever was happening. Her body stopped for a moment however as the sound of boots on concrete were growing closer. She couldn’t see anything, but the sound was getting closer and closer. Enenra, already losing herself in her anger and frustration, ate her way through a body so she could see what was going on. When her head popped out of a man’s torso all she saw was Caeser. Gun pointed at Cináed’s head. Eyes wide, mouth snarling, and her head covered in viscera. She couldn’t make out what Caeser said but could distinctly hear and feel the bullet that traveled through Cináed’s brain.
Cináed died almost immediately, forcing out her spirit from the body along with Enenra’s. But there was an issue, Enenra though forced out was fusing and actively taking over Cináed’s soul. Like a disease rapidly spreading and warping her body, Cináed couldn’t do anything but scream knowing that no one could hear her cries for freedom. For death. To stop whatever the FUCK this was. She was begging as the last of her flesh, from the neck up was starting to be consumed and warped only to be praising whatever deity was listening. While being consumed by Enenra with said hollow screaming out in anger, Kimiko had come from behind and cut them in two. Enenra, who held most of the body, was cut into several more pieces before she began to turn to dust. While the upper portion of Cináed’s body left to sit on the floor before Kimiko moved her gently to look at her. She was dying. No doubt. She couldn’t stop it. Something was said but Cináed couldn’t hear her, could barely see her between the tears and ever-growing darkness in her eyes. The only thing she could feel was her mouth begging for her to end it. Shortly after her vision went black and there was nothing. Nothing but her consciousness. Then came a bump and she was finally free. The pain was gone. The sense of self gone. Everything melted away and she was at peace.
Cináed suddenly all at once became aware of herself again. There was still no pain, but she could feel her body. All of her body. Everything. She wasn’t even tired. As she flashed open her eyes, she slowly adjusted to what was a shack in the middle of scenic nowhere that had a hole in its ceiling. The sun was shining down on her face and things were peaceful. Quiet. There was only one place this could be as far as Cináed was concerned. She was in heaven or some other realm of the afterlife. She breathed a deep sigh as she could finally be happy that everything was over. That terrible fight. The monsters she saw. The horrible experience of. . . everything. Was gone. And yet. . . It felt like it had happened only a few moments ago. Except it couldn't, right? Not after what she went through. Surely, she’d had more time just . . . not being? It didn’t matter given she had so many other things to deal with first. Namely adjusting and coming to terms with this new world. Thus started a period of Cináed’s new life where she more or less wandered. From Rukon district to Rukon district. Watching, waiting, trying to speak with others but struggling at times. The language was something she’d never heard before. And it made her transition harder than it already was.
And that was saying nothing on the new night terrors, the guilt, the shame, and the loss of purpose as a whole. Unknown to her, Cináed had been wandering for a couple years before stumbling quite literally into a manner who looked more weathered by time than Cináed’s mind was reeling still from trauma. Through a rare act of kindness, the older individual took her under his wing supplying her with shelter, food, and occasionally company. He was frequently gone however, always a note predating his need to leave for something. And then he returned at strange times and hours. Not saying much about what happened but always checking in with Cináed. As time progressed eventually Cináed, Dainn, and Teras began to talk. Slowly but surely about topics from all over the place. Including brief overviews of their past. Pasts neither really wanted to delve too deeply into but needed to give some overview of if only to bridge any gaps.
After several months Dainn eventually recommended that Cináed join the academy. He could assist her in getting in if she wanted but after that it was all her. She’d have to endure their training and teachings until she’d finally make it into the Gotei 13. She didn’t immediately take him up on the offer and actually took several more months to think it over and decide if she really wanted to return to the military again. Especially now that she was free of it. She did eventually decide to join but only because she had nowhere else to go. Nothing else to do. And with a distinct lack of purpose in her life it seemed like the only thing to do. Something needed to change and that something was her. With Dainn’s help she managed to train up to just the bare minimum and ended up managing to get into the academy after taking the entrance exams. From there the years blew by as she ended up meeting a few other semi-beast folk, ultimately getting dragged into one of the few divisions she didn’t want anything to do with. The Onmitsukido.
