Honestly, Jeff was enjoying his trips to the outer reaches of the Rukongai now. At least he knew what he was doing there was good deeds, killing any Sinners that still remained after the invasion. Every now and again he'd also stumble upon a Hollow the decided to step out of the Wilds nearby, unaware that something was there hunting down trouble. He hasn't been out long, but by his count he's already sent back or killed about three Hellions and two Hollows. So he figured a good days work was being done right now.
During his time of complementing his own work in his mind, Jeff noticed a Hason grabbing at a female plus. It was dragging her out of her shack that seemed to have been recently built up, though it was a quickly done by the looks of it. "I hope you aren't planning anything bad right now. Not that it matters, you're about to be sent hopefully screaming and kicking back to Hell where you belong." As he began to speak the Hason finally noticed his presence, grinning at Jeff. "What? Did you want to share he-"
The Hason would be cut off before he could finish that thought, Jeff's hand was currently plunged into his chest. Returning the Hason's grin Jeff would all but whisper in his ears while they still worked, "It's a good thing I get to send trash like you back home, it's just a shame you aren't strong enough to actually put up a fight." It's at this moment the Shark man looking Hason would fall over dead, and the gates of Hell would begin opening nearby dragging the corpse back with the many arms reaching out from it.
Even though Jeff saved the women, she was still mortified by the sudden murder right in front of her. Sure he saved her from something unspeakable, but at this point her mind was already racing and her fear was clouding her mind. Letting out a scream she'd scramble up and run down the street yelling, "I'm next, I'm next!" Jeff just simply watched her flee, she didn't do anything bad, so he wasn't going to kill her. After all, she was put into the Soul Society, so she must've been a good person while alive. Jeff would simply just scream after her, "Glad I could help, have a nice day"

The demonic invasion is consistently considered by the people of the Soul Society - regardless of if they are but simple residents of Rukongai or Shinigami remaining behind the four great gates shielding Seireitei from harm - as being one of the most disastrous events to have ever occurred within the celestial realm in recent memory. It was a battle that had culminated in the final deaths of a countless amount of innocent souls who remained within the immeasurably-vast districts of the drifting spirit town, and the innumerable loss of many officers of the Gotei 13 who had dedicated their lives to the defense of the holy city. Much of the damage that was dealt to the realm that day were mended to an extent. What was physically destroyed, such as the buildings and the rest of Rukongai's infrastructure, was majorly repaired and eventually returned to a state which was closest to its previous form, and what was emotionally destroyed within many was brought upward by a will to better one's self. Even so, the people always remembered in one way or another.
There would always be a reminder of the attack. Every day, the people would see them. They would pass by it, walk upon it. Ultimately, how they would find themselves interacting with these reminders did not matter, for no matter what form they took, they would always be there to bring people back to the horrors of the invasion and the terror they felt then. The most of them, unsurprisingly were minor. They took the form of scars that were left upon the earth, a crack or a crater etched by the dredges of the underworld that had not been reached quite just yet by those who were tasked to repair the damages. However, there were more major cases which required the immediate attention of the Shinigami nearby, cases that could lead to disastrous consequences if left ignored. One of these cases, and perhaps the most horrifying of them all, was the presence of Hellions who had escaped the grasp of their commanders and the blades of the Shinigami.
Indeed, while more than six millions demons were slain during the attack by those who bore the arms of the Soul Society, there was a number of the hellspawn who still remained within the realm. They were unsurprisingly not as numerous in number, scattered, and not at all motivated to cooperate with one another for the time being. Yet, they nevertheless remained within the realm, ready to inflict harm upon the denizens of the Soul Society either out of necessity or pleasure. Thus, many operations have been held since the end of the hellish attack. Parties after parties of Shinigami were sent to hunt down the Hellions and slay them as quickly as possible. Some Hellions were slain easily with no effort whatsoever, as they were nothing more than pathetic underlings who refused to serve their lords and leaders during the attack in great fits of cowardice. Others were less easy to kill, more ferocious, and so a few Shinigami officers were lost to them during their elimination. At the very least, these losses were minimal, or rather, they were minimal in comparison to the numbers associated to the attack.
Kimiko wasn't sure of how many times she had been part of those slaying operations. In fact, she wasn't really sure if she could remember them all. All she knew was that she was one of the soldiers of the Eleventh Division who spearheaded the hunting squadrons. For miles and miles on end, they scouted and patrolled, eliminating everything that dared bear the chains of Hell. It was a way for them to clean up the mess the demons had made once and for all so as to defend what remained of their home after the attack... but it was also a way for them to express their anger, their frustration, and their wrath. They needed to enact revenge upon the Hellions for the destruction and havoc they had caused, and at the time, they needed to do so at that precise moment. Not eventually, not later. Now. Needless to say, it was a brutally-effective way to quell the demonic forces which remained within the celestial realm. It was also, perhaps terribly, a way for the people of Rukongai and the officers of Seireitei to rejoice with one another as the monsters were executed one by one before their eyes with the utmost violence to expect from the Attack Squad.
But over the course of time, as the numbers of the demonic survivors lessened and lessened, the need for those hunting parties lessened as well. The majority of the monsters were believed to have been thoroughly eliminated, and so the groups dedicated to this elimination were progressively being assigned to different tasks. Kimiko herself was eventually brought away from Rukongai during the first few days of demon slaying so that she could go and slay Hollows instead, to make sure the cycle of souls would be balanced once more. Back then, she hadn't really cared. Quite frankly, the energy and adrenaline that she had experienced at the time of the invasion was so potent that the only thing that was on her mind then was war. But as she eventually settled down, slayed the demon who resided within the 40th western district, built her dojo, and became Captain of the Eleventh Division, the matter was slowly brought further and further down. To slay demons had now become a minor task, something to keep an eye out for, but ultimately not to the point that entire squadrons of her subordinates would need to be assembled.
That was, until a week ago. Close to the late hours of the afternoon, while Kimiko was preparing a lesson for her students at Nijūkan South, one of these students would inform her of several rumors which were being spread across the latter districts of Rukongai. They spoke of a group of demons wandering about during the night within the 80th districts as well as the outskirts, near the wilderness which surround the Soul Society. The most of these rumors were plainly false, inaccurate, and seemingly based on superstitions at a glance, enough so that many of the people who heard about them did not really believe them. However, Kimiko made sure to take not of these rumors the very moment she heard about them, and so soon, a few officers of the Eleventh Division - those who were most familiar with the latter districts, and thus less susceptible to being attacked or ambushed by the local bandit factions - were sent to investigate.
While they were not the most investigate bunch, the officers were able to notice that there were a few oddities here and there. Strange claw marks and footprints had been left imprinted on the earth in several locations, a few homes had been left emptied in spite of food having been prepared upon the owners' leave, and patches of grass and other signs of greenery had been curiously ripped off the ground, causing only the dirt to remain where they once were. Then, there was a few of the people who remained there. The souls themselves did not appear to be strange to the Shinigami officers at a glance, but their manners were oddly peaceful, perhaps even happy. As sad as this may be to hear, they were not as miserable as the rest of the people of the 80th districts, which was odd, as the very last district was often considering to be amongst the worst places to live in. While they meant no harm, the officers were left unsettled by their presence, and so often attempted to avoid them.
Then, one day, something happened. At the outskirts of the northern 80th district, two beings were spotted speaking to one another. The first appeared to be a male Human wearing some kind of office get-up, while the second was instead something more akin to the Hellions slain during the attack, a monstrous humanoid shark with a bloody maw. This second being also held a female soul captive. While the Shinigami officers were first tempted to immediately fight the two beings, there was something about the suited man that caused them to hesitate. Fortunately, none of these officers attacked either of the beings as they conversed. Instead, they would immediately contact their Captain who so happened to be in the latter districts to teach a few of the people there a few lessons from her school, as means to perhaps convince them to join it. No sooner than a few minutes later, the swordswoman had arrived with her subordinate, suddenly appearing within the 80th with the aid of Shunpo just as the female soul that was being held by the aquatic being was suddenly released. It appeared the suited man had killed the being who was holding her hostage, as showcased by the Gates of Hell suddenly appearing to violently pull his body away from everyone's sight.
"Tch. So the rumors were true," Kimiko would huff as she witnessed the eventual closure of the Gates. It would be clear to the officers who were there that she was displeased, both by the fact that there were still Hellions in the Soul Society and that she hadn't been informed about this sooner, especially after the recent detection of the Vandenreich officers within the wilderness not too far away from here. Regardless, she would eventually straighten herself, turn her head towards her subordinates, and call loudly: "Stay here! I'm gonna deal with this guy. If you see someone with chains on them, you know what to do!"
And with that, the woman would step forward, heading towards the man with a quick step. She was not going there at the fastest nor at her slowest, but it was clear that she was taking this more seriously than usual. Perhaps it was because she was expecting this to be the beginning of another invasion somehow, or perhaps it was because she was still very angry at what happened not long before with the Vandenreich and the child they had brought with them. Either way, she would eventually reach the man, standing at a safe distance away from him as she did so, all the while the lower ends of her haori and her Shihakusho both flew lightly in the wind. Her scarlet eyes would analyze the man for a moment, attempting to decipher him to an extent before she eventually hummed. She saw his attire, his chains, and his bloody hand, the one that had seemingly ended the shark-man from before. Upon taking note of them all, she then hummed. "I'm guessing you're the reason why we couldn't find any of these assholes around here," she stated with a serious frown before she then allowed her curiosity to guide her words. "So, what's this about? Are you a demon hunting demons? Or are you testing yourself?"
