Description: [“When you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes back.” This is a technique created to make the user’s soul unreadable. While the user’s spirit pressure and relative strength of their reiatsu can still be gauged as normal, attempts to probe the user’s soul any deeper than that—such as to try and view the user’s past, their memories, their current thoughts or their emotions, or similar efforts, the attacker will simply result in the invader sensing an empty void. In place of history or memories, the attacker will only see a black void, and an unsettling feeling that something in the darkness is looking back at them.
Once initiated this technique lasts for five posts, and cannot be deactivated during that time. Someone who has attempted to gaze into the user’s soul while this technique is active, will be unsettled by the feeling of something probing their own soul in turn. Unless the attacker has at least 1 point in any of the following skills [Calm Mind, Strength of Will or Lack of Fear], they will have difficulty concentrating or focusing for the duration of the technique.
How to Use: [This technique may be activated automatically in response to someone attempting to probe the user’s soul. When such an attempt is made, the user simply pays the reiatsu cost. Unlike most techniques, this expenditure of reiatsu is not easily noticeable by Energy Sensory, and requires at least one rank in Anti-Stealth higher than the user's Stealth score to notice (as well as a high enough Energy Sensory to notice this in the first place; minimum 150)]
Limitations/Drawbacks: [This technique applies to both allies and enemies. If the user chooses not to activate this technique in response to an attempt to read their soul, it cannot be activated for five posts. Additionally, it does not actually mask the user’s reiatsu, or make it harder to gauge their relative strength, and is only effective against a relatively narrow subset of abilities.
