Height/Weight: 6 ft 2in / 176 lbs.
Physical Description:
FC from Special Crime Investigation Unit: Warlock
While Dainn is at the spry age of 578 you’d be correct in thinking you can tell that he’s aged some. Though you could also blame that on the effects of stress that the man has endured over the years, namely two centuries in the Maggot’s Nest. Turns out he’s actually got a lot of tells for his age, namely in his face. First and foremost, the man has deep wrinkles at the side of his mouth, which help show off his cheek bones but also show that this man has been pissed off for a long time. In fact, it’s how he has a resting bitch face so that even when he’s not particularly upset or really even considering anything he still looks like he’s frowning. The fact the man has some wrinkles on his forehead developing as well as a noticeable amount around his eyes are not doing him any favors in that department. Honest to God, the best way to describe his standard unconcerned face is frustrated, like whatever he’s looking at is aggravating. However thankfully his next tell of age is actually not that bad. Namely his hair.
So, to no one’s surprise Dainn has graying hair, though in all honesty it's predominantly gray now. However, there are streaks of black interwoven in the mess. And speaking of how his hair looks a mess is typically correct. This is namely referring to what’s behind his head and down to the middle of his back. It’s curly and just creates waves as it goes down. In fact, the most put together portion is namely the top of his head and the sides. Aside from a bit that actually jumps in front of his ear and rests there, the remainder looks akin to being combed back or towards his skull. From behind though it begins to look less combed through until it inevitably stops looking anything more than just “left as is.” But don’t worry that’s not the only hair the man has on his skull, he also has a chin beard that goes a bit under his chin and jaw but stops just above his adams apple. It’s a couple inches long and meticulously trimmed in addition to being gray with streaks of black through it, just like his hair. Same as his beard, Dainn also has meticulously kept eyebrows, though they are very thin making them a bit hard to see.
Though don’t worry if you couldn’t see his eyebrows, it's his eyes that will catch your attention guaranteed. This is actually due in part to his curse. His osen actually changed his eye color into bronze-orange eyes. Most interestingly is that his pupils look like they are cracking and breaking apart before melting back together as if they were brittle. Aside from a cuts and nicks that have scarred up around his eyes and cheeks Dainn’s face is otherwise in surprisingly good condition for an older gent. This follows for the remainder of his body barring a few exceptions. First and foremost being the two swords currently stabbed through him. These are typical longswords that enter his back and cross through him, before the tips come out his stomach. The swords themselves look untouched and without wear and tear. Meanwhile the wounds on Dainn look fresh as ever. Red around the blade but not leaking. Pink a bit further out and a bit inflamed to show the body is very much uncomfortable with the sword's presence. Across his torso and the upper portions of his arms and legs the man has many more scars that look like closed off sword wounds. It’s not a surprise to say that these came from his curse which weakened as he weakened. Thus, leaving him with the two swords through his body. The scars however never left with the swords.
Aside from the scars he looks about average in weight and frame. No one body part too long or short. A bit thinner from age as opposed to actually not eating enough and the vestiges of muscles that used to be. Very minor definition is present. With his physical form talked about the last thing to mention is his typical attire. The man is expected to dress nicely almost always so long as he’s within sight of others. Rukongai, Seireitei, or even the Human World. Namely because the Kasumi’Oji just simply desire him to. Though he may not have been brought back on the best terms he’s still a family member and thus he needs to look like it. Thus, he has a few different outfits depending on where he is as far as the main worlds. The simplest is the yukata he wears. If he can get away with it, he will wear a straight black yukata, possibly dark blue and a plain sash that follows the same color. However, given that’s more household wear he typically ends up being seen in either a monochromatic yukata with lines and various shapes on it and a checkered pattern for the lining. Or he will wear one that looks near identical to a dark storm cloud with gray, white, black, and even blue.
Should the man go to the human world he typically dresses in suits. He tries to get away with business casual and as you’d expect monochromatic colors. Dark undershirt, gray jacket, and black slacks with brown shoes. Occasionally the color palette swaps around but this is his standard. If he must go out looking dressed to the nines however, he does make sure it's well known. Namely by wearing a pinstripe suit, accompanied by a fedora, with a light dab of crimson for his tie and his handkerchief. The shoes are typically black unless for some reason he decides to go with a dark brown. He’s not a man for jewelry or accessories thus they must serve a purpose meaning 9/10 times he’s only got a wristwatch on. Otherwise, he will not have anything else with him.

-Personality-
Dislikes:
1. The Kasumi’Oji:
Surprise surprise, the man who was thrown into the Maggot’s Nest by the previously thought family he was a part of is not fond of them. In truth that was simply the straw that broke the camel's back. He’s seen some of what the family does behind closed doors. Been a part of it. He knows that the family is not a good family. They make the maximum use of their noble house status and hide a lot of bodies. Figuratively and literally. It has never sat well with him even before being thrown under the bus. Now it just makes him disgusted with them.
2. Kids:
Man’s an older gent. He may not be crotchety but he’s not fond of the very young. Typically, it's because of how he feels they don’t understand the world around them. And it reminds him of his former self. The funny thing is he doesn’t really wish them ill, he just doesn’t want to be around them. The more he is, the more he sees his past and how it fucked him over. Especially with “family politics”.
3. Excessive wealth:
Again, stemming from his time with the Kasumi’Oji manor and the family he had and how they threw him away he’s not fond of shows of wealth. It's too much in his opinion. Shows how shallow one is if the best thing they can show is how much money they have.
4. Heat and fire powers:
Completely a minute and almost not worth mentioning detail. But Dainn has a dislike of fire or heat-based abilities. In fact, he considers them an inconvenience given they just burn the place down. Makes the air hard to breathe. And ultimately just makes a fucking mess. Not to mention it makes him uncomfortable in the layers he is made to wear. Last thing he needs in a fight is to be uncomfortable because he’s sweating his ass off.
5. Hierarchy:
There’s a reason for structure and those both above and below in organizations. He understands that. But it doesn’t mean he has to like it. As far as he’s concerned, hierarchy is an excuse to make someone in a lower position than you. Aka to make you feel better about yourself. Heaven forbid people were equals. Still if things are strictly military or based on merit you will hear him complain less.
6. Beast-Clan:
There’s just something uncomfortable about them. Animals that took human form and can speak. It’s creepy. Hell, he’s willing to accept Teras mainly because he was made to be weird in his mind. He’s a Bakkoto. But a beast-clan just does human things while being an animal. . . “naturally”. He’s heard a rumor that it's a curse but isn’t certain. Either way, it actually creeps him out and concerns him since he’s already got one curse. Last thing he needs is their curse on top of his own.
7. Thugs / Criminals:
Dainn is not a knight in shining armor. Nor is he trying to be Mr. Do good all the time. And even more specifically there are “criminals” that aren’t actually criminals. They’re idiots who did something wrong, kids who didn’t know better, or just some other normal person who messed up. But the people who actively seek to fuck someone up. Or enjoy killing or stealing. Really anyone that’s in it for fun or just doesn’t have any issue with harming others are the ones he’s talking about.
8. Interruptions:
This. This is the pet peeve above all others. He cannot interrupt others, but the Kasumi’Oji interrupt him constantly. Not to mention others like to do this while he’s working or just going somewhere to eat or buy something. The people who do this are everywhere. And it drives him up a wall. Enough that if he’s interrupted several times, he will start a fight simply to shut someone up.
Likes:
1. Peace and quiet:
The middle of the night. The library. Early morning or late evening. Hell, just being in the wilderness or alone in the building in the first district. Wherever he is at and regardless of what he is doing he enjoys quiet. The silence just helps him relax and take his mind off the swords currently being “jostled” around in his body.
2. Pain relievers:
You can say what you will about them and what it may say about him that he takes them on the regular. But even he has to admit he prefers to not feel the swords within him. Or at least attempts to dull the pain as much as possible. Thankfully his connections with the Kasumi’Oji actually help him here by allowing him access to Squad 4’s medicine.
3. Teras:
He feels an odd kinship with the Bakkoto. Despite knowing it can kill him and it might do so someday he appreciates its presence. In part it’s because the two of them are forced into a position they’d rather not be and have similar views on the Kasumi’Oji. Plus, it's the only thing saving him from going back to the Maggot’s Nest or dying. Sure, it puts him under the Kasumi’Oji again but it’s not Teras’s fault. It’s how the hand was dealt, even if the latter doesn’t sound too bad to him.
4. Alcohol:
Same reason as you may expect for the pain relievers. They help take his mind off the pain and ease him into wherever he is. Unironically it also makes him more sociable. Which is really the polite way of saying, he’s willing to deal with someone’s bullshit for a while longer. Even if they have interrupted him once or twice. He values forgetting about his curse and relaxing that much.
5. Fantasy:
Namely in books though if it's made up in any capacity you could convince him to listen. It’s silly but it's part of his old self he allows to exist. Gives him the stupidly forlorn hope that perhaps he’ll be like the characters in a story and find a good ending. One away from the Kasumi’Oji and one where his curse is placed on the one who gave it to him or broken. Plus. . . they can be such good fodder for ways to use reiatsu or life force so it's always good to keep reading.
6. Shinigami:
So less than “likes” it's more akin to the respect he has for them. They do a job with no end in sight. Whether their ideology is true or simply well written propaganda. They still go out and kill hollows. Things that do exist. Things that do feed on others. And are typically monstrous in nature with varied capabilities. The fact an organization is willing to deal with that near endless threat does have some merit to him. The other things they have done under that banner though. . . that’s another story. But Dainn prefers to think of the good principles they uphold and the reason they exist rather than the more well-known shortcomings.
7. Storms / Rain Clouds:
They just. . . exist. Perhaps not of their own will, given the winds guide them but they seem content. And when they aren’t? They’re a force to be reckoned with. Something one does not want to trifle with. Humans have many myths regarding this fact and even fantasy stories follow this idea. Either way he likes them, perhaps wants to mimic their lifestyle or just the freedom they have over themselves. Whatever the case they are just something he likes.
8. Cold:
Let’s just put it out there. It’s better to be cold, than it is to be hot. If you’re hot, you sweat and drench your clothes. If you’re cold, you just throw something else on. Or better yet, you know ahead of time that it's cold because the weather will tell you. If he has to make note of a simple thing, he enjoys its cold weather. Even bitter or biting cold he’ll take over temperatures above 80F.
Flaws:
1. Willingness to have pain relief:
The man can manage without. It’s just a fact. The issue comes with how readily he’s willing not to. In his mind, he’s dealt with it long enough without relief, so he’s owed time where he can minimize if not forget about the pain of his curse entirely. Thus, when offered a means to deal with the pain in some form or another you’re likely to have him agree to it.
2. Concerned with his appearance:
It’s dumb. It’s typically not even noticed. But Dainn is, in fact, concerned with how he looks. It’s why he doesn’t really mind that he wears nicer clothes. And it’s also why he gets upset, mainly at himself, when they get messed up in the process of his tasks assigned by the family. His hair, his eyebrows, his clothing, even down to what (if any) accessories the man has concern him. And he isn’t happy with himself, it's going to show.
3. Blunt and uncaring in how he speaks:
No matter how nicely dressed or how concerned Dainn is about how he looks to others, he will not change how he speaks for someone else. No noble, no enemy, no promise of death will get him to sugar got or dance around things. He speaks his mind, right or wrong. And he’s not always going to show a “higher level” vocabulary. Curse words and slang exist for a reason and it's to express something exactly. With the negative intent or connotation.
4. Jealous of humans:
Dainn is incredibly envious of humans. Having been to the human world he’s seen how they act. So carefree about life. They willingly put themselves under others as opposed to needing to be. (At least as far as karakura is concerned and the sparse other places he’s seen.) It almost looks like humanity on the whole is free to do as they please. And it makes him envious since he’s not in that position.
Habits:
1. Combs his hand through his hair:
Especially when he’s stressed, he tends to comb through his hair. Usually just making sure it's pushed out of his face but even when it's not and he’s sitting down, he'll take some from behind him and comb his hand through it.
2. Checks the clock / counts minutes if annoyed:
The worst thing you could do is waste time. Thus, Dainn intends to count every minute of every day he has to do something for the Kasumi’Oji against them. Making sure to use every last ounce of free time he gets from them in between assignments. And if they make him do more or something becomes unnecessarily difficult, he will begin to count the minutes it takes to finish something.
3. Groans when moving:
This shouldn’t be all that surprising as the man has at least 2 swords stabbed through his person. Thus, if he doesn’t have something dulling the pain, he’s feeling the pain from being a sword holster constantly. It’s hard to ignore that entirely and thus he groans and aches like an old man at times. Especially if he’s going through rigorous or intense motions.
4. Makes a lot of hand motions:
Typically, while speaking. However, the man moves his hands around frequently. If music’s playing, his fingers will move around to the beat. If he’s doing nothing, he’ll start cracking his knuckles. Hell, even when sitting he is generally inspecting what’s nearby with his hands. Table, pockets, dining cloth, etc. And if nothing else is in reach he’ll just move his fingers around.
5. Stares at things:
If he finds something interesting, beautiful, or otherwise eye-catching he will look at it unapologetically. There’s always a concern in the back of his mind that he’ll die or go back to the Maggot’s Nest. Thus, he wants to ensure if either does happen, he doesn’t miss out on anything within sight. This way at least he can think back to more pleasant experiences.
Fears:
1. Forever being bound to the Kasumi’Oji:
Though he was in the Maggot’s Nest, at least he was away from the noble house. Not that he’s out, he’s back to being under their thumb. He doesn’t know how long he has until they decide or try to do something else with him or if they ever will. But the likelihood of being under their authority for a long period of time is highly concerning to him.
2. Dying without doing anything:
This is kind of a vague fear. Dainn doesn’t feel like he’s doing anything for himself. Let alone anything worthwhile. And to a degree it does bother him. He wants to do something that he believes is the right idea. And currently he hasn’t done anything but what he’s told or what was necessary to survive. If he can, he’d like to make some sort of impact somehow.
3. Falling into complete addiction:
Dainn is not unaware of his choices. Especially with regards to pain relief. He knows they have side effects and can become a problem if he’s not careful. Which is why he worries about how much he’s doing to curb the pain even while he’s in the middle of, say, drinking or taking medication. If anything, he’d prefer a permanent solution but since he hasn’t found that yet so, he must deal with the temporary aides. . . even if they point down a path of consequences.
Goals:
1. End his curse:
Once and for all, end the damn thing. He suffers every day from it and has nearly died because of it several times. Hell, it marred his body on the whole with scars like he’s been in non-stop fights. Which isn’t true but he sure looks like it. Plus, the things he does to not feel pain concern him at times. So, the sooner he can be rid of it the better for him.
2. Leave the Kasumi’Oji permanently:
He’s done with the family. They’ve used him to save themselves. They’ve lied to him about things they’ve done to others. And worse yet, they brought him back in after THEY kicked him out of it. He just wants to be left alone and separated from them. No more bullshit. No more means of dragging him back. Leaving is without a doubt his number one goal.
3. Get Teras to full power:
He and Teras have agreed to work together for the time being. Teras will aid him in leaving and he will aid Teras in becoming strong. Typically, that does mean allowing Teras to feed on him or others if he can help it. But it also means unlocking Teras’s true potential, whatever that may be. Ultimately, they both want to get away from the Kasumi’Oji so if both get stronger then both can leave. Giving each individual they’re goal.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Overall Personality:
Dainn when boiled down is a frustrated man who feels clapped in chains. Chains that he originally never realized he had on and that continue to haunt him with repercussions. In a way, despite being cursed to hold swords that will kill him if removed, the truly cursed part of this man is his heritage. He’s born of those who would use and abuse others for their own gain. As they did to him. As they’ve done to others. As they will continue to do until something, or someone stops them. But that’s unlikely and Dainn isn’t really that invested in being that person. Ultimately Dainn just wants to be allowed to live his own life. Suffer or profit from his own choices. He’d prefer to not be cursed but even that can take a seat to not being in prison again and not being under the thumb of a household that would sooner be rid of him in some manner or another than let him be. Especially after what he’s been a part of, because Dainn’s hands are sadly, not clean either. All of this though helps make the mental soup that is his frustration about his family and how unable he is to change things.
Thankfully that’s where Teras comes in. For one reason or another, the latter chose him. Maybe it was a spur of the moment. Maybe it was for a reason. Whatever the case, the other has given him. . . more than he has had for a long time. And now every once in a while, he doesn’t feel completely chained down. Still, he knows that the agreement is likely temporary whether on Teras’s part or due to the machinations of the household that created him. Though Dainn doesn’t know why or what they may be doing with him and Teras he’s not terribly fond of figuring that out. So even with Teras’s company and his aid to give him a life of his own, he’s still concerned about what sword is looming over his head. Literally and metaphorically given he knows how far the family will go to control others.
Still, that’s not to say that frustration is all there is to Dainn. Dainn, when looked at without knowing his background, is something of a quiet and independent man. He does his jobs without delay and with as much precision as he can manage. No point in doing something if you can’t do it right the first time after all. Besides, the sooner he gets to run his life as opposed to dealing with the demands of others the better. Time is his most valued resource. Thus, he never wants it wasted and, in his mind, the missions he gets are a waste of time. Even sitting in the Maggot’s Nest was a better use of his time than this. Especially considering he was slowly but surely overcoming his curse. At least as far as he was concerned. The number of blades has never been smaller than it is now. Outside of working his quiet nature is still easily shown. Given he seeks places of quiet, relatively speaking, he’s easily found reading books in bookstores or libraries. Hell, he’ll even go to the tops of buildings, hills, trees, etc. Whatever he can to just be with himself as opposed to others and in places that are peaceful.
But Dainn does have a more ruthless streak to him. Such as his jobs. Given the nature of his ties to the Kasumi’Oji household he does things from time to time that aren’t . . . good. Simply put he’s killed people and though he’s not fond of it, he’s long since stopped caring about others. He can’t change the lot he picked, nor can he change someone else’s. Not when the house decides they need to die or get dragged back to them. It’s not a fun job in either case. If anything, he much prefers when tasked with getting something from someone. As opposed to having to interact with a person. This does however bring us to Teras, who needs his aid to get stronger. Teras needs life force. Plain and simple. It’s just how Bakkoto are. But that doesn’t mean he’s ok with Teras just taking it wholesale from others. Yet that is how it must be at times. Especially for those that die while the Kasumi’Oji are watching. His hands are tied, and he ends up feeding them to Teras. Which brings us ultimately to Dainn’s biggest flaw.
It’s his life and Teras’s or no ones. If they are not going to come out on top or something bad will come because of it. You can rest assured Dainn will not commit. And if Dainn or Teras do stand to gain something significant from something? He will do it in a heartbeat. This is ultimately why he complies with feeding others to Teras but only when he absolutely must to ensure both of their safety. Sadly, it's been more than a few times and each individual haunts him. Their faces permanently placed within his mind especially as he saw the literal life get bled out from their body. His own life? He’s willing to place it on the line given he’s either going to do or die. Someone else’s however? That never sits well on him. And you’d think that he’d come to resent Teras because of being forced to do this for him. But he doesn’t. Teras is what he is. He became sentient because of this very act of being fed the life force of others. Namely others that were consumed by their Bakkoto. He suspects that Teras isn’t terribly fond now that he understands what he’s doing as well. Given how he attempts to not consume too much at any one time from Dainn. Though that doesn’t stop him when offered or if situations call for it as he’s all too ready to sate his hunger.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Powers-
Fighting Style:
Dainn’s fighting style is boiled down to a team fight with Teras. Teras typically serves as the main “fighter” of the two of them. Namely because Dainn has the noteworthy weakness of his curse. I.E. Bleeding out because if the swords are taken out Dainn has a no shit timer that he must abide by. Thus, it's far safer for Dainn and Teras both, to have Teras go fighting up close and personal instead. It does help that Teras has, especially depending on his level, a number of different tools in his arsenal to assist him. Such as long range, short range, and even area control abilities. Not to mention being surprisingly physically capable enough to keep up with other physically strong entities. Thus, with all this combined alongside his distinct lack of curse to hinder his abilities Teras is without a doubt the frontliner between the two of them.
However, that's not to say Dainn is useless. He is fast and has a decent amount of reiatsu to work with. Plus, there’s something to be said about the fact that if Dainn is willing to take a hit, he’s very likely to induce cutback on the person in question just given how much he walks around with. And that’s saying nothing about his raw quantity of life force. Given just how much Dainn has available to him, using Kasumi’Oji or Vita Sollerita techniques is especially easy and effectively painless to use. However, the real capabilities of Dainn will be involved with his item selection and the few benefits given to him by Teras at higher levels. Such as the enhanced step technique, alternate weapon choice, and possible ranged attacks. Making Dainn far more capable than he’d otherwise appear to be.
The real issue with Dainn and Teras however lies in that each relies on one another. While Teras can no doubt last on his own longer than Dainn, he still suffers from not having a pool of techniques to pick from. Thus, he quickly becomes something of a one trick pony. Teras becomes something of a jack of all trades and master of none given near his entire release is dedicated to Teras as opposed to giving himself more options. Thus, if the two are too far apart or one is taken down, the other is almost certainly to be knocked down without much trouble. This includes the fact that Teras cannot exist without Dainn being conscious.
Bakkoto Sealed Appearance:
Teras, the moniker chosen by the bakkoto, has an interesting appearance to say the least. At its baseline form Teras is something of a more monstrous quadruped. Starting at the head, it's just a skull. Clean and white as a full moon, the skull encomasses for the entire head. No flesh is on it that isn’t the attaching neck or the inside of the maw. As far as skull to neck is concerned the skull actually seems to stretch some until right under the jaw the inky flesh takes over and it begins to be covered in the wispy dark mass. An interesting thing to note however is that while the skull has eye sockets and these sockets do have little dull yellow orbs hanging there, the actual main eye is one that's on the center of the forehead. This eye is bright gold and about the size of a normal eye however it also moves and blinks despite there being no flesh around it. The sclera is black as is the iris, only the pupil has color.
Towards the back of the skull is when a series of horns start jutting out. They are a bit on the thin and spindly side, but they curve in on themselves as they grow out behind Teras. There are 3 sets of these starting on the backside of his skull and trailing down into the upper portion of his neck. The first set is about 8in long, while the next set is 6in long and the final set is 4in long. Moving back to the skull it should be noted that it looks vaguely canine in nature. But whatever it is now is something different, if not warped. The other noteworthy thing to keep in mind is that the internal of the skull is pitch black. With only a long gray tongue in the maw being the difference in color.
Moving onto the body this is where it becomes a bit harder to define. The main torso area is in fact akin to a beast, so a quadruped. But is it wearing feathers? Is it fur? Does the body simply coat itself in reiatsu or is it some other kind of energy? It’s honestly hard to tell because the main mass is black and some of the growths on the body that aren’t the limbs look abnormal. And occasionally seem to shift to different places. For example, the chest sometimes seems puffed out and while it can be called “fluff” at other times it looks like a mass of flesh that is bulging out. The fact that Teras does also exude energy naturally doesn’t help when trying to pin down just what he looks like or is vaguely related to. Whatever the case may be, the torso is solid and weighty as one would expect. With a larger chest cavity up front while the further back you go the body slims until hitting the hind leg.
As far as the legs are concerned, they are interesting for several reasons. First and foremost, the legs shift from looking like they are covered in scales to looking like they are blacked bird legs. Regardless of their appearance they look thinner than one would expect. Especially the forward-most set of legs. Each paw is elongated to stretch about an additional 4 inches giving and that’s before the fingers themselves are extended another in or two themselves. Lastly, ending each finger with a claw that is 3 inches long and looks like talons. Moving back to the end of the torso there is one final thing to mention and that is the “tail”. Unlike the rest of the body, this especially seems to just be made of energy. While the base of it still looks fairly solid the further you go out from Teras’s backside the less defined it gets. There’s always an ever-thinning cord but the width that it used to have been made up for with more gaseous looking energy radiating off it.
Bakkoto Release Appearance:
Teras has a few forms due to the fact that he evolves as more levels become available. For the initial levels of release (7 and 6) he remains the same as his unreleased form. Though for reference his size is about 2 feet tall standing on all fours and goes up to 3 feet tall while standing on his hind legs. It’s when we get to level 5 and level 4 that he gains a significant change in form. One that in truth many would not want to see.
The first noticeable change is his height while standing up straight, which is rare. He averages around 6 feet tall. Though typically stays around 4 foot 8 while on his arms and legs. His canine skull splits and reforms to create three canine skulls that use the top portion of his skulls to make a fused amalgamation for a face. His golden orb eyes still remain on the sides but the topmost skull still has the central eye that now exists in the ovular eye socket. There is no lower jaw for this newly formed “head” and instead is just an entrance to his esophagus with a tongue hidden somewhere. The remainder of his body is unfortunately far more solid and describable as opposed to his previous form where it was questionable what all is going on with it.
His new form has flesh and bone, though mostly bone and skin if the elongated and thin body says anything. Considering its gray wrinkled skin, it looks like an undead monster more than it does anything in particular. The torso is the only thing that looks filled out and that’s namely because it looks like a mass of just conjoined flesh. Muscle after muscle laid over one another and making sure the skin is nice and taught around its oddly spherical form. The ribcage is easy to see from the front of Teras, but the backside looks like an air pump was stabbed into him and pumped up. Though from his back spawns a few additional limbs that while not strictly necessarily make him far scarier. Namely due to the fact they are each 3 feet long with a foot long blade-claw at its end. A few body hairs, usually white though gray at the base, litter over these limbs and the claw itself looks jagged and black. There are four of these limbs. Two over the shoulder blades and to more underneath them.
The main limbs are similar in how emaciated they look but they are far longer. Now at 4 feet long each with the hands and fingers adding another foot and a half total. The limbs are about what you expect from skin and bone. Were it not for the stray wiry hairs the condensed muscle mass is all you’d see from it. Occasionally though you get odd skin connections on the inside of the joints. Once you get to the hands it's more bones than it is skin. The sinew and muscles beneath are easily visible and usually twitching for some reason. The hands on the inside are rough and the claws are sharpened black blades. Though they are not as long as they were in their previous form as they now are 1 in long. Hand and foot though are alike in this form in that they are 4 fingered and more spread out.
Moving on we have what most would likely see should they ever be unfortunate enough to actually have to fight Dainn and Teras. This is when Teras becomes much more the monster one would expect of him. No longer is his body modeled after a canine, no it is instead modeled after more of a lizard. Long and elongated yet unlike his previous forms, there’s no doubt of the flesh that makes up this body, though unlike previous editions this one is covered in scales, thorns, spikes, and a chitinous exoskeleton? It's kind of questionable as to what exactly the form uses between scales and exoskeleton but whatever it is, the external “skin” layer of Teras is incredibly dense and hard yet somehow remains flexible enough to move easily in. In lieu of hair across his body Teras now has small twig-like spikes that grow throughout. They aren’t necessarily sharp, but they do have points on the end capable of making one bleed. In addition to his overall black color scheme there is a muddied blue undertone to it that highlights the hardened skin.
Moving to the head, which is now 4 feet tall by itself, it's singular again and thankfully more than a skull. However, there are more eye sockets this time. Four on each side of his now pointed head with one eye still in the center. The side eyes actually look akin to dull gold in color but are solid. No pupils and no irises. Just sclera. Meanwhile the main eye still has its pupil and iris and is still twice the size of any other eye, making it a whopping 6in. His jawline this time is not hidden by skin or flesh as there is simply hardened flesh and then the teeth themselves. They trail well into the beginnings of his neck from the looks of things, though given the neck and head are elongated, this could be argued. This is what most will see given the teeth are the only thing that are pure white on this darkened body. Same as the first form though, the inside is pitch black with that oddly long and cylindrical tongue hidden within. Unlike other forms though the head finally has a nose though its namely a couple holes into the front of the skull.
Moving to the main body, we keep the theme of being multi-limbed by having to forward limbs. These limbs are long, reaching about 6 feet from just the arms themselves and then adding an additional foot for the hand and claws. The hands themselves are pretty short only being about 4in long alone while each finger is a minimum of 8in, and the claws are an additional 5in. There are still only 4 fingers on each hand. One set of arms is directly above the other meanwhile the hind legs are a good couple feet behind the arms. Though they are the same total length and description as the arm, they look smaller due to not having nearly as much muscle mass beneath the hide. Last detail to make note of is the tail. Unlike the forms previously which had a thin tail or no tail, we now have a long and thick tail to work with. The end is like a spiked mace with a sharpened point at the very end and a collection of spikes for a couple of inches towards the weighty end. The remainder of the tail starts at about 3 feet thick and slimming down to 2 feet while the total length is 8 feet long.
Woe betides any who actually see the monstrosity that is Teras in his class 1 form. While the last form was about 14 feet long and about 7 feet tall when completely stretched this final form dwarfs it. Teras in this form, is no less than 30 feet tall and 45 feet long. He is a veritable nightmare beast that is something between a lizard and a worm mixed in with an insect. For one thing his entire hide is now very much an exo-skeleton that has scales and spikes galore jutting out from many crevices. The backside of Teras is especially noteworthy for how many spikes there are that just continue to trail down towards the base of his tail. Meanwhile the tail may not have spikes on it, but the end is still a walloping mace like appendage that is just littered with sharpened edges and one massive 5 feet long and 4 feet thick bone blade thing at the very end of his tail.
One other thing to note about his body is that he still has 6 additional limbs that aren’t additional growths in some capacity, like the spikes that litter his body. Though all six of these limbs are all towards the front as he uses his body as a whole to slide and glide across surfaces. Assuming he doesn’t want to use his massive arms to pull and drag himself around. His arms are an astonishing 10 feet long with hands that are 6 feet in width letting him easily engulf a human in one monstrous hand. The exterior is rough and rugged and now has 5 fingers with claws that are 2 feet long at the end. These claws are bladed and blackened while the hand is like the body at large and is a dark brown-black color. With occasional holes throughout that look like dull golden eyes or veins beneath.
The real monstrosity money maker however comes notably at the front most portion of the body. This does include the head but is more than simply the head and neck, this includes a portion of the upper back. For the first 6 feet of the body after the head there are tendrils that grow on the sides of the body. Effectively akin to the tail given they are bladed at the end and only have a few pits lining the hardened exterior. These pits house more dull golden “eyes”. These eyes though are simply markings on the body and not in fact actual eyes. These tendrils reach out 6 feet each and are numbered at 4 on each side. As we move close to the head there is in fact, yet another limb/growth thing to make note of. These are the mandibles on either side of his head. They come together to form the main outer section of the lower jaw, basically hugging it when not actively extended out. The topmost portion of these mandibles are lined with giant teeth at least 4 feet tall and going down to 1 foot tall. These can extend outward 3 feet from the face and there are two sets of these mandibles on either side of the face.
To the main face however the top of the skull and down to the neck/back is entirely covered with spikes of various sizes. Meanwhile the skull itself doesn’t really have any spikes or growths aside from the mandibles. It’s rugged and sharpened due to having a rocky looking exterior and edges across it. But no spikes or additional horns. The jaw as usual however takes up a significant portion of the face and is now 4 feet long and can open until the lower and upper jaw are vertical. Teeth litter the inside as well as make a fence that line the outside of the maw of this beast. However, unlike previous forms, this one finally doesn’t have a darkened maw but instead is the same dull gold color that glows brighter the deeper you get. The weird thing though is that the maw looks like it's lined with these dull gold eyes that pulse and “follow” you. There is a deeply tarnished gold-brown tongue within that in addition to several smaller tendrils about half a foot in size on the inside and sides of the maw that assist Teras in consuming an individual. Last but not least are the eyes, there are 8 on either side of the head now. With a central one, as usual, on his forehead. These however are all actual eyes and have dull gold iris’s aside from the center. The center is bright gold in its iris. Meanwhile all the eyes have no pupils and black sclera.
Bakkoto Dislikes:
1. Being controlled:
Teras is a Bakkoto, meaning that by his nature he is a weapon. He is supposed to do what he is told, when he is told. It doesn’t matter that the Bakkoto are barely “living” creatures. . . in a way. Teras being a sentient version of the Bakkoto only makes this more frustrating. In his prior stage he had little care or concern for who wielded him given he just wanted to eat. Now he has the means to understand, and it pisses him off who wielded him and why.
2. Bright Places:
Teras’s entire power deals with clouds and storms. For him to be somewhere with little shadows or that is very bright, it concerns him deeply. It’s not to say that he is weak, but he just doesn’t feel comfortable around there. Especially considering Teras feels “Fight or Flight” strongly as a bestial version of a Bakkoto.
3. Hollows:
Hollows to Teras are like one step away from being Bakkoto. Though they may not inherently consume the lifeforce of another, the soul is the next closest thing. And in truth? The real reason he doesn’t like them is that the lesser stages remind him of his prior self. Only difference being he was a bound parasite rather than a self-sufficient entity.
4. Being Sentient:
It’s a bit of a double-edged sword. He’s able to do more, because he understands and knows more. But on the other hand, he’s now far more self-aware of what he’s doing. And with sentience came certain things like a conscience. It frustrates him because there’s always this nagging question of morality to things he never questioned earlier. Such as consuming another's lifeforce.
5. Being hungry:
Thankfully while Teras is similar to hollows in that he is hungry frequently he can be satiated. What he doesn’t realize is that it's harder to become satiated the stronger he is but at least it’s there. Still being hungry does tempt him to return to his former tendencies. And while he’s not forced to do such, it bothers him that he can lose his control. . . to himself.
Bakkoto Likes:
1. The night:
Given his and Dainn's history it’s no surprise that he is fond of the night where the light is minimal, and the shadows are plenty. Ample area to hide in. Ample places to attack from. And more importantly it’s hard to keep track of him which allows him to get away from those who’d threaten him and Dainn.
2. Dainn:
It’s . . . A strange sort of like. More than anything he’s fond of the fact that Dainn is anything BUT ok with the Kasumi’Oji. And is upset that they are trying to control him as well as Teras. While their contract is meant to be mutually beneficial it cannot be ignored, much to Teras’s grumbling, that he is fond of the man. Out of all the Kasumi’Oji, he does not want excessive harm to come his way.
3. Eating:
This is no surprise to anyone. As a Bakkoto Teras has to eat, but he likes eating and feeling full. While the matter of having to consume life-force is a bit of a stick in his enjoyment overeating it doesn’t change the fact he still loves eating. He’s not tried actual food yet but he’s hesitant given how the taste of life force is. And it’s near overwhelming, which explains why Bakkoto hunt after it so much.
4. Peace and Quiet:
Same as Dainn, Teras is fond of the slower days in life. When he doesn’t have to eat or if he can just feed off of Dainn and otherwise relax. This is what he wants. In truth he’d prefer to not HAVE to feed off of Dainn but the alternative is feed off of someone else or an animal. And neither are terribly pleasant or as easy. Besides that, Teras isn’t fond of the Kasumi’Oji’s taskings so when they don’t have to deal with them, that’s time well spent.
5. Scaring others:
Dainn is a strange exception to this for a few reasons but typically, Teras enjoys his monstrous appearance. It puts others on edge. Makes them nervous. Makes them fear him. That fear makes them very easy prey given most like to run away. It’s likely that this was developed from instincts of his previous life that stuck around. Whatever the case he loves seeing that look in others eyes when they find out they are fighting a monster.
Bakkoto Flaws:
1. Succumbs to hunger:
Teras has at times succumbed to his hunger. And this has prompted him to take more life force from his victims or even Dainn than he intends to. He’s not proud of it but it happens. And it's especially likely to happen when he’s hungry. Not your standard hunger though, the kind of hunger where you’ve waited all day to eat. That’s when he’s at his most dangerous to succumb to eating something’s life force whole without realizing it.
2. Overbearing Conscience:
Teras, unlike most bakkoto, has to deal with the fact that he is sentient. He knows what he’s doing and isn’t doing it for the simple purpose of eating. . . most of the time. He understands the consequences for things that get “eaten” by him. They don’t exist anymore. Or rather they cease to exist because of him. The permanence of his consumptions weighs on him and it beyond that it prompts him to do things he otherwise wouldn’t. . . such as lie to Dainn that he’s completely eaten someone.
3. Fearful of the Kasumi’Oji:
For one thing they made Teras sentient. Something that isn’t supposed to happen to Bakkoto. For another thing, they cursed Dainn and what Teras has seen is the mercifully weaker side of it. From what Dainn says, it was much worse prior to his time in the maggot’s nest. Add in that the Kasumi’Oji have some sort of power over the people of the Soul Society, and it becomes oppressive in a way. They have too much influence and reach. The things they can do shouldn’t be possible and yet they are. Teras as much as he wants to leave them and threaten them isn’t certain that it’s possible. Such a powerful force cannot be brought down easily, if at all.
Bakkoto Habits:
1. Thousand-yard stares:
Teras is constantly looking through things. Or at least attempting to. It’s like having RBF if you didn’t have skin and flesh and your eyes were glowing orbs. It just sort of happens. Even if he’s actually not trying to look through someone, he typically appears to be doing such. The fact his eyes don’t blink also doesn’t aid him in convincing others he’s not staring all the time.
2. Sticks close to Dainn:
Teras could be on his own. Dainn is not exactly required to be by him at all times after all. However. . . Teras has concerns of what might happen to himself or Dainn without the other. Their contact empowers them both. . . while together. Apart is questionable. And given their overlords, he’s not keen on giving them an opening to see otherwise.
3. Play with others fears:
As mentioned, Teras likes scaring others. Seeing the fear in their eyes over his form makes him happy. Thus, to make sure he gets maximum satisfaction Teras enjoys capitalizing on that fear. For example, if someone doesn’t want to get near him, he slowly walks forward. Maybe even scratches or claws at them to really freak them out. If it’s his form, he’ll attempt to make his form more ominous by actively expanding and shaping his reiatsu. Things like that.
4. Corrects Dainn:
Dainn says things sometimes that are not 100% accurate or not quite the right thing to say. Thus, it becomes Teras’s problem to manage. Thankfully Teras is capable of speaking to others surprisingly well. Thus, he tends to interrupt Dainn when he realizes what the other is about to say or if he does say something he doesn’t agree with.
Bakkoto Fears:
1. Returning to being just a weapon:
What this means is that Teras does not want to revert to his prior state. There’s a lot to fear, a lot to worry over, but there’s also a lot to enjoy about his new level of intelligence. He’s able to understand the world around him in a way that he couldn’t prior. And it means something to him. Not to mention if he reverted, he’d be more than willing to utterly consume Dainn, like he wanted to do with others. That’s not something he wants. So, if he can, he wants to ensure he’ll never revert back. The repercussions of doing so would be a lot, to say the least.
2. Kasumi’Oji:
Teras has seen what the Kasumi’Oji have done to Dainn. And heard from Dainn what they’ve done to others. And worse yet has seen for himself what the Kasumi’Oji make them do. As mentioned prior he’s fearful of them because of their power and reach. They can do things that others wouldn’t dare to do and don’t feel anything while harming others. Thus, Teras has concerns for what they will do to him and Dainn if given the opportunity.
Bakkoto Goals:
1. Become as strong as possible:
Bakkoto have levels of power. He knows this as he has been used in such a way as to get to several levels of power. However, he wants to find the peak. Become so strong that he lives up to his name as a “monster”. That level of power though is a bit beyond him alone. Thus, he intends to have Dainn help bring him there so that maybe, just maybe, they can finally achieve their other goal. Though it’s also a major stipulation of their contract so both are bound to work with one another.
2. Leave the Kasumi’Oji:
If this entails killing them, great. If it involves faking their death, awesome. Teras just wants them to leave him and Dainn be. The two can go their own separate ways after that but for until then Teras is not only bound by their contract but wants to find a way to leave the Kasumi’Oji for himself. Preferably in such a way that he is not cursed or grievously injured. Death is a means by which they could both leave but. . . for obvious reasons the Teras does not want that for both of them.
Bakkoto Alignment:
True Neutral - Neutral Evil
Bakkoto Overall Personality:
To put things simply, Teras is a newborn pup with entirely too much knowledge of what's going on around him. The reason being that unlike a child or a pup who would normally have things start small and be given to them in bite sized portions Teras has had too much thrown on him at once. Given he was engineered to evolve and gain sentience by consuming the lifeforce of others it was expected that he would be able to gain their knowledge and understanding of the world around him from that. Which is true, he can speak. Teras has emotions. He thinks about how things impact him and Dainn. But with such little experience being his own creature let alone being “alive” he’s readily overwhelmed by the things going on around him. Hence why he’s akin to a pup. It’s just that he has more understanding of things around but no real means or understanding as to how to apply the tools he was given.
This does not mean that Teras is stupid or inept. Teras is actually surprisingly competent, namely when it involves ensuring his life is preserved. When he feels his life or existence is on the line, namely with interactions involving the Kasumi’Oji, he becomes a lot more composed. At least on the exterior. He begins thinking and trying to use the accumulated knowledge and wit that he has to find or create an answer. For example, his habit of interrupting Dainn or correcting him. Teras is under no impression that Dainn will speak better or change how he wants to speak for anyone, even if that means his death. But because the repercussions will reflect onto Teras, he steps in and will try to mend things or stop it before something said goes too far. In this regard he is capable of thinking several steps ahead and considering what must be done. This becomes more of an issue in regard to the emotions and morality of others.
For one thing, Teras has had to come to terms with what it means to consume someone or something’s life force. It’s not just consuming the soul of someone and integrating it. It’s ripping it apart for the base energy and using that to sustain oneself. This means that without a doubt, said individual does not exist anymore. Unlike shinigami or really most races that kill, including hollows, the soul lives on in some manner or another. Those that come across him, do not. Thus, Teras always has to weigh the “sin” of consuming others against surviving. Is it better if he survives while someone else doesn’t? What does this mean for the soul in question when they will cease to exist? It’s a heavy weight, and part of the reason that Teras assumes most Bakkoto aren’t given sentience. Because if they started to ask questions and realize what they were doing, would they be ok with it? Sure, some would because at heart they are living weapons. But surely there’d be others like Teras who begin to halt and ask if this is the only way.
Ultimately Teras has had to make the decision to handle things in his own way. Namely, come to terms that beasts will be consumed wholesale. To do anything less basically provides no sustenance. Humans and other spiritual entities need to be considered and if possible, siphon off a chunk of their life force without taking all of it. But when push comes to shove, he needs to consume any and all who stand before them wholesale. He cannot hesitate especially if it means the possible loss or hindrance to their goal of escaping the Kasumi’Oji’s grasp. This is mostly in part because of the contract he’s got with Dainn. Dainn helps him grow to peak power and in return he helps Dainn escape. Likely getting himself out in the process. Teras may not always agree with the methods but with their goals so intertwined, he will uphold the contract as otherwise, why would they be working together?
Bakkoto Overall Theme:
So, unlike most Bakkoto, Teras is a spiritual companion. With the means of creating a contract with the “owner” that is their link between one another. Having already done that with Dainn this gives Teras and Dainn the means to not only fight together but also have Teras grow in power alongside Dainn. However, the nature of their relationship aside, Teras is, in his own words, a manifestation of storms. Or simply put a Storm Elemental. Which means that Teras’s natural abilities revolve around manipulating and creating the weather that he desires in that moment. This can range from rainstorms, to producing bolts of lighting, blizzards, hail, you name it and Teras can create it and manipulate it. The baseline of this power however is creating smaller weather effects like gusts of wind from his body and then later on generating large scale storms to allow for more varied and different venues for attack.
Bakkoto Levels:
Level 7:
There are two major benefits to level 7. The first and arguably most prominent feature is that Teras is summoned and is capable of fighting alongside Dainn. This means he comes with his own stat block and because of the nature of being bound to one another Teras can even take on a handful of skills and use them as needed. These skills are decided upon the initial summoning and cannot be changed until the next cost for the release is paid. Aside from Weapon: Storm or Weapon: Claws/Teeth the only skills Teras can take are defensive skills. There is no range limit on how far Teras can be from Dainn however there is a range limit for their means of mentally communicating with one another. That range is 60 feet. So long as the two are within that range, thoughts can be spoken to one another.
There is one important feature to note. Teras, while able to move around and operate separate of Dainn does have a time limit. Teras has to return and come in contact with Dainn every 3 posts. In the event that he does not return within 3 posts Dainn's release ends immediately. In addition, the cost for releasing again is double current cost. This can stack indefinitely. This doubling reduces by a single instance every 2 posts that Dainn is not released. In addition, unlike normal Bakkoto to release Teras Dainn must pay 200 LF as well as 200 reiatsu. Both LF and reiatsu double when the 3-post limit is exceeded. In the event that Dainn's release posts are less than 3, Teras must be present and in contact with Dainn to "re-release" or otherwise maintain the current level of his bakkoto. If this does not occur, the doubling penalty is applied. This drawback is applicable at all levels of Bakkoto release.
The following stat block is for Teras while level 7 is being used. However, at higher levels Teras gains more stats and the means to use both more skills and at a higher level, so long as Dainn has them at the maximum level.
Str: Equal to Dainn's OS
Speed: 100 (+100 per level above 7)
RS: 0
SPPR: 0 (immune to cutback)
Instinct: 100 (+50 per level above 7)
Senses: 100 (+50 per level above 7)
ES: 0 (+50 at levels 6, 4, 2, and 1)
HE: 0
Durability: 2x Dain's OS from level 7 - 4.
Levels 2 and 3 durability is 2.25x Dainn’s OS.
Level 1 durability is 2.5x Dainn’s OS.
Level 7 - 5 Up to 3 skills can be chosen and they can reach a maximum of 1
Level 4 - 3 Up to 4 skills can be chosen and they can reach a maximum of 2
Level 2 - 1 Up to 5 skills can be chosen and they can reach a maximum of 3
The second major benefit is that Teras comes with the basic capabilities of his power. Storm manipulation. This comes in three variations, though the premise is based on the fact that Teras is the cloud producing these weather effects. Teras can produce gusts of wind to push enemies, allies, and objects around in the direction he is facing at that moment. While the gusts will not inherently harm someone, they do push with an OS equal to half of Dainn’s OS thus making any impact on the environment around them damaging by that alone. These gusts are a foot in size for every 50 points in Dainn’s OS and move at 200 speed. The speed of these gusts increases by 50 for every level above 7. This caps them at 500 speed in Level 1. In addition, at level 4 the percentage of Dainn’s OS used to move things is increased to 75%.
Next Teras can produce lightning bolts. These lightning bolts are a foot in width and up to 3 feet long. They use Dainn’s OS and move at a speed of 300. Where the gusts were a free ability these cost Dainn 50 life force or reiatsu. Like the gusts these also increase in speed by 50 every level above 7. This caps their speed at 600 in level 1. For every level above 7 the width and length of these bolts increases by 1 foot.
The last thing Teras gains in this level is a step technique. Upon paying 50 reiatsu and life force Teras can transform into a storm cloud and rapidly move to a new destination. The end point can be 20 feet away at the most however to get there Teras can move through or around objects. This includes physical attacks as Teras’s body is nothing more than a collection of clouds. This allows for spiritual attacks to be bypassed starting at class 3 so long as Dainn’s OS is equal or higher than the attack if they are the same level while if the attack is classless or lower than the Bakkoto’s release level it allows him to step through it. This counts against Dainn’s step tech count. The speed for this “Storm Step” is 5x Teras’s current speed. Finally for every level above 7, this “Storm Step” increases in speed and distance. 1x for every level and 10 feet of distance. This caps out at 11x with 80 feet of movement at level 1.
Level 6:
At this level the main thing to note is that Teras gains the means to produce high speed, condensed winds around his body. These winds allow Teras to fly by controlling the air around his body to propel him. The speed at which he can fly is the same as his speed in the stat block. In addition, Teras can produce short range AoE gusts of wind or lightning. The range is 4 feet in diameter, and it uses Dainn’s OS for the force behind it. The gusts of wind and the lightning have the same speeds as their projectile counterparts in addition to whether they can actually harm an individual or not. However, the burst of wind is unique in that it can produce a suction force or exert force on the area around Teras. This costs 50 reiatsu and life force to create. The range of the AoE also increases by 2 feet per level above 6. The same coating can be given to Dainn starting at class 4 but cost 75 reiatsu and life force, however this only allows Dainn to fly. Dainn’s coating lasts for 3 posts.
Level 5:
At Level 5 is when things with Teras start to get interesting. As usual all of Teras’s previous abilities improve some. Starting with the gusts of wind Teras can now produce winds that are 2 feet in diameter for every 50 OS. In addition, he can guide the gusts and lightning bolts moving them up to 90 degrees in any direction once per projectile. This increases by 90 degrees for every level above 4. This includes choosing which direction to throw objects caught in the AoE gust he produces despite their initial positioning. Meanwhile for the lightning bolts they now gain an explosive radius upon coming in contact with anything. The range is 3 feet out from the point of impact, though this doubles if the point of contact is a body of water.
However, the most noteworthy thing about his gusts of wind is that he can for a small cost make them damage inducing by creating miniature tornadoes. These tornadoes cost 75 reiastu or life force and can last up to 2 posts before dissipating. Unlike their simpler counterparts these can actually harm an individual by tearing them apart with high-speed winds. These however do have a range limit of 40 feet from Teras and are controlled mentally by him, though they will always circle around him if left alone.
The tornadoes have a size of 5 feet tall and 2 feet wide at their base. These increase by 2 feet for every level above class 5. These tornadoes move at 400 speed and have a suction force equal to half of Dainn’s OS to draw in anything nearby. The range of this suction is 20 feet diameter from the Tornado. This increases in size by 5 feet for every level above 5. The maximum tornadoes that can be present at one time is 3. The tornadoes created gain an increase in suction power at class 2 using 75% of Dainn’s OS. In addition, at level 3 and 1 the number of tornadoes increase by 1, capping them at 5 at level 1. They also gain an additional 100 speed increase at level 3 and 1.
In addition, Teras can coat their body in lightning causing any contact with an individual to electrocute them. This creates burns on the limb that comes in contact with Teras. Every 3 hits on a limb increases the severity of the burn. Thus, it takes 3 hits to get a first degree burn on a body, 6 for a second degree, and 9 for a third degree. To do this, costs Dainn 100 reiatsu and life force and lasts for 2 posts. However subsequent payments (so long as the ability is not turned off) are only 100 reiatsu or life force. At level 3 the burns are created upon every 2 hits as well as can be given to an ally’s weapon.
The last thing to note for this level is that Teras gains the ability to produce clouds of fog. These clouds block the vision of those with 100 senses or less but can be seen through with a point in Focused Eye or Battle Focus. This costs 50 reiatsu for every 3 feet of fog that Teras produces and are produced at a speed of 300. This increases by 50 per level above 5, capping at 500 speed. The unique thing about them though is that for double the cost Teras can make the fog incredibly humid, allowing all electrical attacks to surge throughout the cloud. The fog increases the senses necessary by 25 per level above 5 and at 3 and 1 the skills increase by 1 each to see through the fog regardless of the sensory stat.
Level 4:
At this level is when Teras really starts to show off the “Storm Elemental” title he gives himself. Once this level is activated Teras gains the means to produce storm clouds. Upon initially releasing at this level, 30 feet of storm clouds are produced in the sky or ceiling inside an enclosed space. These clouds follow Teras as he moves, with his body being the center point. Teras can produce more clouds however at 50 reiatsu or life force per 5 feet of cloud generated. There is not a defined limit on the number or duration of the clouds. The clouds cannot harm an individual inherently nor can an individual harm them, typically. However, they can be blown away by attacks that produce winds of their own. Shockwaves, air-based abilities, and explosive attacks are examples of these. To blow them away however requires 75% of Dainn’s OS in the attack to do so.
The main benefit of these clouds is twofold. The first is that these clouds act as the means by which Teras or Dainn can create and fire off gusts of wind, lightning bolts, or tornadoes. In addition, these clouds can produce storms of different kinds. Snowstorms or Rainstorms. Each has their own benefits and drawbacks. The weather can be shifted to an alternate storm or no storm once a post for free though for 100 reiatsu or life force the weather can be changed a second time a post. In addition to generating attacks starting at this level Dainn can use the “Storm Step” for the same cost as Teras.
Let’s start with Rainstorm. When a rainstorm is chosen the entire area the cloud covers begin to deal with a torrential downpour. This makes it harder for fire and heat-based abilities to exist if they are ongoing as well as more expensive to use. For any ongoing fire or heat abilities they clash with Dainn’s OS to go out. For every post this clash occurs fire abilities are considered 10% weaker. Should Dainn’s OS be higher, fires are put out and heat-based abilities cool to normal temperatures. When an opponent tries to use a fire or heat-based ability it costs 10% more reiatsu to use. Fire or heat-based abilities of a higher class are unaffected by the rain. At level 2 this adds an additional 10% debuff if a fire or heat-based ability is beneath the class of the rainstorm.
When a Snowstorm is chosen the area underneath the expanse of clouds begins to cool down rapidly as snow falls down. This makes it hard for fluid-based abilities to remain in a liquid state and induces a clash against Dainn’s OS. If Dainn’s OS is higher the fluid in question freezes over the course of the post. If the OS of the fluid is equal or higher than Dainn’s then the liquid remains fluid. However, this clash is induced every post the snowstorm continues with the liquid losing 10% of its OS for the purpose of the clash. If the liquid in question is a higher class than the snowstorm the liquid is unaffected by the snowstorm. There is one last thing to note, while the snowstorm will not kill an individual outright it will cause an individual to freeze if they were covered in water prior. An individual will freeze over the course of 3 posts without any Cold Tolerance. However, this can be extended by 3 posts with a 1 in Cold tolerance. A 2 or higher will prevent this from happening. At level 2 the cold tolerance needed to ignore an individual freezing goes to a 3 meanwhile the post count to freeze an individual in place is 2 posts. Every point in Cold tolerance up to 3 gives an additional 2 posts before freezing occurs.
Level 3:
Now that we’ve moved past that it’s time to take note of something Teras can do to aid Dainn or an ally. Teras can produce melee weapons made of storm clouds. This needs 5 feet of cloud to produce a weapon that is 2 feet in length and 1 foot in thickness, if a longer weapon is wanted or something that is bigger in either dimension more clouds must be used. The weapons have a durability equal to 1.25x Dainn’s OS unless additional clouds are used. Up to 4 clouds can be used with each giving an additional .25 durability multiplier. In addition, the weapons still count as potential source areas for gusts and lightning bolts to be fired from. However, when used this way the shape of the gusts or lightning changes. A thrust would be a standard bolt or blast of wind. However, a slash would be a moving slash or lighting or wind. At class 2 clothing can be made of clouds that actively defend the wearer from attacks. This clothing has a durability equal to Dainn's OS and takes two 5-foot clouds to create enough clothing for a single limb. This makes twelve 5-foot clouds necessary for a full body's worth of clothing. Once ethe clothing is destroyed or 3 posts have passed there is a 2-post cooldown before an individual can be given another set of clothing.
In addition to this the weapon can be the target of one effect, tornado or lightning. While chosen a weapon cannot have another effect however these effects will fade if the upkeep is not paid for. The cost for these is 100 reiatsu and life force per weapon and then is reduced to 50 of every 3 posts. For a weapon that has been given the tornado effect it has the means of cutting through defensive abilities easier by reducing the clashing OS of the defense by 15%. This is due to the winds moving at such high speeds around the weapon that the weapon has a sort of “constant cutting” effect, like a chainsaw. For a weapon with the lightning effect, they gain the means to create thunder when a gust of wind is used and comes in contact with something. The gust will then explode for 10 feet and produce a loud booming sound. This thunder deafens anyone with 150 Senses or higher for one post. But for every 100 senses above 150 the victim has an additional post of being deafened. Those with under 150 find themselves momentarily deafened but quickly get over it.
Lastly Teras’s form becomes akin to a living storm cloud letting him resize himself as appropriate in the event that a building could not contain his normal size. This costs no reiatsu as it provides no combative benefit aside from entering and exiting buildings with ease.
Level 2:
This is it, we’re near the pinnacle of Teras’s abilities thus we get to talk about the newest power Teras gains at this level. At this level Teras starts off by creating more clouds for the same cost. 8 feet of cloud for 50 reiatsu or life force. In addition, Teras can now produce more varied storms by infusing either rainstorms or snowstorms with gusts of winds or lighting. To produce these more dangerous storms, require the storm to be active for at least a post and then for Dainn to pay 200 reiatsu and life force. From there the storm in question evolves into one of the two different versions described below. A storm can only be evolved into one of the different types every 3 posts. Once a storm is evolved that storm type has a 3-post cooldown after its duration is met. Evolved storms do not maintain the base storm effects until level 1 is active. It should also be noted that Teras is immune to any negative effects from the storm he produces. Dainn however is not immune nor are any allies.
Rainstorms that evolve become either Lightning storms or Hurricanes. While an evolved rainstorm is active the effects of the standard rainstorm are still in place.
Lightning storms:
When generated the clouds begin charging up bursts of electricity within them while the raining intensifies. Sheet lightning occurs frequently and thunder booms ominously. While a lightning storm is present lightning bolts that are generated gain the means to choose a direction for their explosive radius. The direction chosen for the explosive radius is now in the form of a wave that travels 15 feet in a single direction. In addition, the explosive wave is now 10 feet tall, 5 feet wide and 2 feet thick and moves at 800 speed. Teras is immune to the lightning blasts generated in this way. In level 1 the explosive wave travels 25 feet in two directions of Dainn or Teras’s choosing. In addition, the wave is 15 feet tall, 8 feet wide, and 5 feet thick.
Hurricanes:
When this type of evolved storm is generated the storm clouds darken considerably as the rain intensifies and high-speed winds begin to make themselves known. While present the winds created by the storm create a barrier that traps in all enemies and allies within its domain. These winds have an OS equal to 1.25x Dainn’s OS and have a class equal to this level of release. These winds shred anything that comes in contact with the edges of the storm clouds. Entrance and exit is prevented while this is active. With the exception that a powerful enough attack or defense can allow an individual to either survive the winds or punch through and half the winds long enough to escape. In level 1 all ranged attacks made by enemies are reduced in speed by half so long as Dainn has an equal or higher OS. This is due to the winds actively pushing against ranged attacks.
For snowstorms that are upgraded they become either hailstorms or blizzards. The effects are described below. While an evolved snowstorm is in effect the basic effects of the snowstorm are still in effect.
Blizzards:
When this storm is chosen the winds intensify to high speeds, not unlike the hurricane choice. However, in addition to this the temperature begins to rapidly drop further. The world steadily grows whiter as the beginnings of whiteout occur. While the blizzard is active all within the blizzard begin to have snow and ice stick to them. This causes two effects to occur. The first is that for every post within the blizzard an individual's strength requirement to move around is increased by 50. This caps at an additional 150 strength to move. In addition, this causes those affected to slow down by reducing their maximum speed by 50 points per post they remain in the storm.
If an individual leaves the blizzard this debuff reduces itself by 50 per post. If an individual attempts to use a heat or fire ability on themselves, they must beat 75% of Dainn’s OS. If they do, they will remove all debuffs from the snow/ice. Lastly for every point in cold tolerance these effects are ignored for an equal number of posts. This makes a 3 or higher in cold tolerance immune. In level 1 the effects of the debuff increase to 75 per post an individual is within the blizzard.
Hailstorms:
When this storm is chosen the storm becomes strange in that the sky darkens and electricity is seen being channeled through it during the first post. Moments later hail that grows in size every post is created. The hail depending on the post changes its size and the OS used to determine its impact. On the first post hail is 2in in diameter, with this increasing to 6in in diameter on the second post and ending in a foot in diameter on the final post. On post one hail hits for a tenth of Dainn’s OS. Post two hail hits for 20% of Dainn’s OS. Post three hits for 40% of Dainn’s OS. This hail is numerous and impacts everything underneath the clouds. For active shields and defenses this counts as 3 hits a post from the hail. In Level 1 each of the posts gain an additional 10% of Dainn’s OS.
Level 1:
The pinnacle. The be all, end all level of power (barring Zero stage.) this is the point where Teras and Dainn actually become something akin to living natural disasters. The reason being multiple but let's start with the first bit. Clouds do not need to be generated any longer, this is because Teras, upon entering this level, generates half a mile’s worth of storm clouds. These clouds can be blown away temporarily but will reform after a post. To blow away storm clouds requires an OS equal to Dainn’s. In addition to this the storm clouds distance can be cut in half and create an arena that is a quarter mile wide in all directions. The shape can be whatever Teras or Dainn desires, however the inside will be a stormscape with clouds covering everything if it remains on the ground. The arena can be moved into the sky at Teras’s or Dainn’s desire.
While this level is active it is free for Teras to change the base weather whenever he desires. In addition, he can use both evolved storm effects at once with the first evolved storm at half cost and the second one being activated for the original cost. The cooldown for the evolved storms is also reduced to 2 posts once the duration of a storm is over. However, the base storm must still be active for an additional evolved storm to be used. I.E. The evolved rainstorms cannot be mixed with the evolved snowstorms because the base storm for each is different. In addition to this lightning bolts now produce two bolts of lightning for the same cost and can be fired off from any point in the stormscape. Same goes for the fog clouds, the gusts of wind, the AoE of lightning and gusts, and the tornadoes. Gusts though are special in that their size is equal in height, width, and thickness but act like waves in how they push things in a direction.
At this level Teras and Dainn gain the means to do something previously unthinkable. The two can fuse together forming a unique creature. When fusing the two must be in physical contact with one another and takes a few moments as Teras’s form ultimately engulfs Dainn and begins making him as close to being a storm elemental as possible. The form will remain humanoid though there is the addition of a tail, claws, the hardened scales Teras has (which look akin to solidified storm clouds), and a few other bestial features. However, the real benefits come from how their stat block is handled. While in this form Teras’s physical strength overwrites Dainn’s, meanwhile Dainn keeps his spiritual stats. Their speed stat is averaged out as is their sensory stats. Dainn does not have durability in any capacity. Dainn in this form has the means to create up to triple the size of the gusts, lightning bolts, AoE’s, and Tornadoes so long as he pays double the cost. 1.5x for twice the size and 2x for triple the size as far as costs are concerned. In addition, he is immune to all the negative portions of Teras’s release.
To fuse however costs 1200 total of lifeforce or Reiatsu. This can be paid in any amount by either, including only life force or only reiatsu. This also counts as a long-term stat boost and lasts for the duration of a single level one release. While level 1 can be used near indefinitely this cannot be. Damage Dainn takes affects both Teras and Dainn after their fusion ends. The damage of both is then added together onto Dainn while fused. This cannot be used for 3 posts after it ends.
Bakkoto Zero Stage:
TBD - I struggled enough with the power. We’ll get to this when it's relevant.
Other Techniques:
Technique Name: 1. Sword Bearer (Osen)
Technique Class: 8-0 (Follows the user in class)
Technique Type: Spiritual
Usable By: Dainn
Technique Element: Curse
Description:
Despite its passive sounding name this is a curse that ensures the user is in constant agony. The name says it all, the user becomes one who bears the swords of their betters in the most literal way possible. By taking the concept of stowing a sword in a sheathe the user is replaced as the sheathe in this instance with their body being the means by which the blades are held. These blades obviously induce static and unhealing wounds in addition to constant pain as the flesh of the user constantly is being pressed against the blades of the weapons embedded into them. Depending on the class depends on how many swords are present within the victim, however what is truly terrifying and what makes this a “curse” is with regards to rank and what happens if a sword is drawn from the user.
Enemies and allies alike can draw or interact with the swords, which for all intents and purposes are standard spiritual steel weapons. However, the victim cannot come in contact with the handle or any other portion of the weapon that isn’t the wound made by the weapon. The victim will simply phase through them. Meanwhile anyone else can grab and pull the weapons from their body. When a weapon is drawn from the body the wound instantly begins to bleed. Like a cork on a wine bottle, so long as the weapon is not returned to the wound, the victim will continue to bleed as time goes on. Depending on the rank depends on how long the victim has before they pass out (or die) depending on the thread type. For rank 1 the user has 12 posts. For rank 2 the user has 9 posts. For rank 3 the user has 6 posts. And for Rank 4 the user has 3 posts. These can be increased by having points in Bleeding Tolerance. However, these only add a single post to the total allotted time per point invested.
In addition, while the user is suffering from a wound bleeding out, the wound in question cannot be healed by any means. Nor can the blood flow be halted. The only way to prevent the wound from bleeding further is by replacing the weapon within the wound. When a sword is replaced the Bleed Out count is suspended. Unless the user is healed or has a significant time to rest, they will continue from the Bleed Out post they were at prior. Unlike the initial stage of this curse, the victim can attempt to replace the swords within themselves. But this is all they can do with the sword. As before if they try to use it against someone or defend themselves, or even attempt to use it on the environment around them, it will simply phase through the object or person in question.
To determine how many swords are within the body of the user at a time one simply has to look at their class. At class 8 the user starts with two, each being in their back and piercing completely through but not injuring any organs in the process. For every class above 8 the victim gains an additional sword somewhere on their body. This will be kept track of in their point bank. However there is a special feature. At rank 3 the victim will gain a single sword through their heart. Their heart is not hindered in its ability to function and pain will not even be felt, aside from the wound in the flesh. However if this sword is pulled out, the victim suffers from 2 posts of bleeding instead of one. Lastly the victim of this technique is required to take Pain Tolerance while under this curse. The number depends on the class in question. Class 8 - 5 is 1 point. Class 4 - 3 is 2. Class 2 - 1 is 3. Class 0 is 4.
How to Use: Get cursed by the Kasumi'Oji
Drawbacks: This is only a drawback as per the Struggler Type.
Made By: Kasumi'Oji (Dainn)
Reserved?: Yes
Class: 8-1
Technique Type: Cinematic
Usable By: Dainn
Technique Element: Cloud
Technique Description and Effects:/b]
This technique does one thing and one thing only. It allows Dainn to summon Teras (or more specifically) allows Teras to manifest himself without Dainn needing to be released. Instead, all that’s required is a small reiatsu cost and Teras is able to manifest next to Dainn. Teras has the means to choose a form that suits him but is most notable for picking a black canine of sorts or some other normally completely blackened creature. Either way he must stay within his unreleased form’s size limitations. 2 feet standing on all fours and 3 feet while on his hind legs. His form must be animalistic. While manifested this way he is able to interact with the world and others but cannot do so in a manner that would harm them. Effectively he cannot actively fight anyone while in this form. If he does, he's immediately blown apart. In the event that he is hit by someone else with more than 50 strength his form will be shattered.
There is one caveat to this. While Teras can change his form to suit his desired look an individual with 50 or more ES can see his real form. That or an individual with Illusion resist 1, at class 4 this increases to a 2. His “real” form is simply his unreleased form. The individual in question can choose to ignore this and revert back to seeing Teras in his chosen form. The main benefit to this technique is in how it grows alongside the user and what changes at the stages of mastery. With regards to class, it equals the user's current class and adds 50 ES to the requirement every 2 classes past 7. This makes it 100 ES at class 5. 150 ES at class 3. And 200 ES at class 1. As for technique mastery, this allows Teras to take on other forms however it requires this technique to be mastered. At mastered Teras can become humanoid in size and shape (6 feet maximum). He may still take on any monstrous or animalistic appearance he chooses even while humanoid.
How to use technique:
Harness your reiatsu and then channel it into an orb. From there call out the Bakkoto and allow it to determine its appearance.
Technique Drawbacks:
There is an ES requirement depending on what class the user is. This requirement goes down by 25 points per rank in anti-stealth or focused eye. This can be reduced to 0 ES required. Illusion Resist will outright bypass this technique. With a 1 being all that’s necessary until class 4. From there a 2 is required.
Does not allow Teras to fight another. It simply allows him to manifest and exist alongside the user. Costs reiatsu which increases as the level does. 25 at class 8-6. 50 at class 5-4. 75 for class 3-2. And 100 for class 1.

History:
Dainn’s life is a simple story. Namely how nobles will protect themselves and those involved in schemes from being found out at nearly any cost. Including throwing their own under the bus to do such. But before we get to the most defining incident of Dainn’s life, let’s take a look into his past. The first thing to know about Dainn is that he is of noble blood, specifically the Kasumi’Oji. This is without question as one could even look in the family lineage ledgers and find his name there. However, it would be scratched out and written with his new name, Dainn. His previous name has long since been erased given there was a period of time he simply “didn’t exist” as far as the family was concerned. Regardless this means that until he was not considered a member of the family Dainn had quite a luxurious upbringing. He was a part of a greater noble house, back near the Kasumi’Oji’s prime. Power, money, and spiritually capable individuals along with, arguably, the smartest clan members around. Figures such as Hideoki Kasumi’Oji and eventually Himitsu Kasumi’Oji were still present at that time. Thus, it’s not hard to believe that Dainn actually had a fairly trail free upbringing for several years of his life.
Food was never a concern, and he always had a place to sleep. Hell, even his schooling was a bit more lenient as at the time it was uncertain where members were truly needed. Thus, he was not shoed into being a shinigami, a political figure, or even a scientist for the family. He was free to choose what path his heart decided was best for him. Life was simple and pleasant, and for it Dainn was immensely thankful. These initial blessed years of life were what ultimately made him a bit starkly different from other Kasumi’Oji, namely his older peers. Dainn was naive and had not needed to struggle to have anything. He always wasn’t “hungry” to do or achieve anything. He was at peace with being nothing and willing to simply help others of the family. He also didn’t specifically show a capability in any one field, if anything he seemed fairly adequate in most fields of study. From swordplay, to kido, to even learning of spiritual sciences, hell even using life force was simple enough for him. But he wasn’t exemplary. The one thing he did do however, was ask questions. Many, many questions. About everything. Family history. The nature of life force. The means by which reiatsu worked and how the body could be made to do X task. This included the taskings that were given to him, namely due to his willingness to help the family.
Still for the most part this could be ignored, despite being mildly aggravating. It was assumed however that when things were dire, he’d simply accept what he was told to do. Not to mention he’d never actually argued with the taskings given he was simply curious. The real issue started to take note when he met Hideoki. Hideoki at the time was the lead scientist of the family and as such was given access to several family secrets and resources. Now Hideoki, while having definitely had his hand in certain events, had always been careful in what lines he was willing to cross and distinctly aware of his own moral compass. Experiments were “clean” so to speak and patients or subjects were given far more care and respect than his peers might have given. So, it’s no surprise that rumors and opinions were slowly but surely being formed, such as if Hideoki was really doing his tests and experimentation for the family or for himself. This rumor prompted the initial meeting between Hideoki and Dainn who unsurprisingly hit it off extremely well. The head scientist shortly thereafter took him under his wings and slowly but surely taught him about any and all things the younger asked about. Science, the soul, life force, reiatsu, shinigami, zanpakuto. You name it and Dainn was asking it and trying his damnedest to learn everything the other was willing to teach or tell him about. Which was a lot.
Still even this wasn’t really an issue as the family at large figured that if Dainn was going to be involved with the family due to his nature, it was likely best to start with Hideoki prior to “taking him under their wing” at large. The issue at hand really came when it was found out that Hideoki had not only found knowledge that the family kept hidden away from most members. But had utilized it. The first could be forgiven. He was the head scientist after all, learning was expected. Even the latter “sin” of using said knowledge could be forgiven depending on why and what he intended to use the knowledge for. Sadly, the real issue came with the fact that he’d A. used it solely for himself with very specific intentions and B. that Dainn could learn the same secret as well as use it for his own ends. Ordinarily while the penalties for this would occur, death was highly unlikely, but this is where our next individual of note came into play. The other genius figure and at the time rising star of the Kasumi’Oji, Takahashi Kasumi’Oji. Unlike Hideoki, he was more akin to a snake. Absolutely using any and all knowledge for his own gain, and namely to grab the seat of power as head of the family as a whole. However, he was far more cunning and more willing to play political games. And worse yet, he was unnaturally charming so the words he spoke held far more power over individuals' hearts than they otherwise should.
Thus with a few words to the right ears, a few pieces of information twisted, and few heart strings pulled Hideoki was taken under custody of the heads of the house. Dealt with privately and his knowledge, studies, and even his greatest achievement was given to Takahashi. Including, his “student” Dainn. Dainn by this point had been not only introduced to Shitoke’s former existence but was also an assistant for the scientists and life force practitioners of the Kasumi’Oji. Making him immensely useful if only for the fact he was still unaware of many darker dealings of the Kasumi’Oji and was easily swayed by others due to his naive nature. This was utterly exploited by Takahashi. A few words were all it took to find out the intimate details of Hideoki and Dainn’s conversations. Including how much he knew about Deius II and if he could replicate it. A few more words and Dainn was misled about what had happened to Hideoki as well as what would happen to him. However, Takahashi wasn’t about to have Dainn gotten rid of, he was still useful. Moldable. He just needed to have things set up for him to fall under his wings completely. Thus, the next couple decades of his life of questionable choices and not completely understood consequences came to be. Dainn began to aid other more morally gray members of the Kasumi’Oji. He began to see patients and individuals suffering from maladies and trauma that weren’t normal. Beyond unnatural even. And some of which he set upon them under the direction of others due to misinformation.
The worst was in fact the situation that caused Dainn to get cursed in the first place. Shortly prior to Dainn getting sent to the Maggot’s Nest he was working side by side with another Kasumi’Oji scientist testing the means of what intention and altered energy within life force could do. The intent, as far as he was told, was to see if life force, produced by another, could create a definite effect in an “order” to another's body. The basis being that the body could possibly be ordered to expel negative ailments or manipulate itself to halt or contain something harmful. What it actually was testing was how intentions when amplified by one’s own life force did when placed in another. This was intended to see if one could make another subservient or create in them commands that couldn’t be disobeyed. The issue at hand was that Dainn was under the effects of an illusion. Their subject was a family member, one who needed to “disappear”. The individual in question was going to go to another noble house or the Seireitei at large and try to reveal certain things the Kasumi’Oji had been doing behind the scenes. However, they were not clever enough and Takahashi had found out with relative ease.
Thus, his punishment was to become something of a permanent slave or a compelled individual unable to defy their “superiors". I.E., whoever held the leash of command. Dainn, however, despite all odds had not lost or even begun to develop darker tendencies. Likely due to how they were attempting to be subtle and now directly confront him with what he’d done. Thus, the goal was to rip the band aid off after he directly, without any realization of what he was doing, had driven someone’s personal will away. Given the illusion he was under he set up the experiment without a care or concern. Unable to hear just what he was doing to the individual in question. Stabbing the man through his wrists and ankles. Drawing insignia on him that cut through the skin. And then forcefully injecting his own life force into the man and attempting to shatter some section of his mind to allow him to control his body. The man in question tried with all his might to do something. Anything to stop the experiment unaware that the other was under the influence of another. Ultimately, he couldn’t do anything until Dainn had connected themselves together for a moment via their life force. Knowing he’d die in the process the man in question decided that since the other was unwilling to stop and seemed to be enjoying all the suffering he was putting on the other he’d let loose his life force as a whole. This came in the form of redirecting the curse that was intended for him, onto Dainn. This came with several aftereffects.
The first and most obvious was that the man in question died. Body consumed by his own life force to produce so much malignant energy that the body as a whole became nothing but reiatsu and ambient energy. The energy then lashed out at Dainn and produced the first swords that held the curse he now suffers. The difference at the time being that the swords of life force impaled Dainn at the time to his core, shattered to create more swords and other weapons, and subsequently inserted themselves into his body on every limb, sans his head. The most painful being the sword through his heart. From there the life force made aggressive and manifest moved towards the other scientist and outright killed them as the other couldn’t survive the pain of the curse nor the far more numerous weapons that impaled them. Dainn lost consciousness as the energy began to start a rampage throughout the Kasumi’Oji manor, namely their subterranean “clinics”. It never made it past the floor in question as Takahashi had already plans set in motion should the experiment fail, namely trapping the curse in another object. Unsurprisingly his plan worked, and the malicious energy was reduced from a semi-sentient creature to a simple collection of cursed energy. From there however Takahashi found Dainn’s body and his now deceased kin’s corpse. The former was taken to his office and . . . assisted as best as possible. The other was disposed of by a simple kido. The next time Dainn woke up, he’d be subject to immense pain as he’d retained no less than 12 weapons within his body.
Dainn was in hell. Nearly unable to move on his own and certainly under physical and mental duress with seemingly no way out. Thus came Takahashi however who by this point was under no guise of a caring family member. He fully intended to reveal to Dainn everything he’d done in the last 20 years. Break him mentally and then propose he was Dainn’s only means of getting out the mess he’d made unscathed. Let alone, without a curse that was, by his claim, permanent. Without a doubt did this “conversation”, given how one way it was, shatter Dainn’s view of the Kasumi’Oji. At first though he was in disbelief. The family wouldn’t do heinous acts. And certainly, he didn’t because from when he participated, he was never harming anyone unless absolutely necessary, such as removing a dangerous growth. Documents held, recordings, and pictures of the experiments he’d partaken in showed otherwise. His naive view of the family was shattered beyond repair. Sure, perhaps not every member he’d known had been as black in their soul as those he’d worked with. But considering how many were in the know and how many he’d met at the time of his experiments and assistance with the family. . . Those numbers were far and few between.
But here was the out, given to him by Takahashi. Work under him. Maybe find a way to break the curse. But in exchange continue to do unspeakable things to others and effectively be under threat of death at all times for not complying. Or die by either the family or by, heavens forbid, those of the Maggots Nest. The choice was almost made for him. Dainn wanted nothing to do with the experiments. Especially given how this last one lashed out at him. The things he’d done. The things he’d learned. The fact that he couldn’t ever truly believe what he’d done in the first place as his memories were just lies. It shattered any hope he had in the family. Any chance that there was for him to even consider any portion of them in a “good” light. Dainn took his chances, hell at this point he wanted death. He was already so close to it but not allowed to die given the curse of his former kin. In truth Takahashi could have cared less. He didn’t need Dainn. However, that wasn’t to say he couldn’t use Dainn to his advantage. And thus he “outed” other members of the family in rapid succession with claims of Dainn conspiring against the family. Considering Dainn had been found with the corpse of another Kasumi’Oji member and had one transformed into a curse it was only that much easier to spin the tale the way Takahashi wanted.
Thankfully the current family head wasn’t so easily fooled by Takahashi. She knew exactly what he was doing. And though it did ultimately help her and the family, there was no doubt in her mind that the “source” of the problem was not Dainn. Still, she wasn’t about to just be lenient on him when he was the scapegoat for her ally. Thus, she’d do the only thing that was possible. Sentence him to the Maggots Nest. A few days later, a couple of words to the right individuals in Central 46 and Dainn was immediately sentenced to the Maggots Nest. His name scratched from the family ledger and his life as far as the Kasumi’Oji was concerned was over. He’d die like a rat in the prison, likely at the hands of the other filth that was present there. As they’d come to find out a couple centuries later however, Dainn did not die. For one and only one reason. He was never placed with other prisoners. He was instead placed in his own cell, deep, deep underground. And given he was cursed? He didn’t even have the means to resist or move until nearly 150 years after the fact. But that didn’t stop him from going over everything in his mind. Every last scene from his childhood to the experiments, to his time up to current life he was living in the cell.
It cannot be understated that until 150 years passed, Dainn was effectively motionless barring the momentary times to eat and relieve himself. The remainder of his time was entirely fueled by anger and resentment and allowing it to grow and sustain him. To try and drag him from the pain and focus on what he’d do to them. To determine a plan of some sort. Yet that was far easier said than done and most of the time he’d simply be quietly in agony raging mentally or briefly having nightmares over the moment he’d been cursed. Yet life was not going to be that simple and he would not simply remain in the Maggot’s Nest for the remainder of his days. Namely because of the Sanctus surprisingly. Having declared war against Soul Society and having attacked it en masse had several consequences. Namely that the Maggot’s Nest was damn near under guarded. Enough was present but it was the bare fucking minimum. And then there was Ludwig. The real reason his life changed entirely. While Dainn was simply in his cell seething as usual a loud and incredibly powerful explosion made itself known to the Maggot’s Nest. Its power upheaved most of the cells and those within and killed many of its prisoners as well as most of its remaining guards. Dainn almost didn’t make it out for being unlucky enough to not have his cell broken. However, several of those who were escaping from the lower levels had the genius idea that the more who were escaping would give each a better chance to escape themselves. And thus, they were opening and adding more bodies to the already rampant chaos.
Dainn didn’t need any other reason than his anger to leave. Once his cell was opened, he bolted. Jumping over and past others he didn’t even look behind himself. He just climbed stair after stair until he finally made it an exit of the Maggots nest. But it was hell just to get there. Zombie looking freaks, other prisoners who simply wanted to kill, and the remaining guards who for some fucking reason decided to continue doing their job despite the aforementioned problems. Not to mention the other inmates who also wanted to throw others, like Dainn, under the bus, to save themselves. Ultimately this resorted to a shitshow unlike any other with the only reward for those involved being entrance to the Seireitei in some partially blown up hellscape. Even if there weren’t demons around, the things going on outside the Seireitei didn’t bode well for those involved. Like the fucking nuclear weapon level explosions heard and then seen from one of the gates. Dainn had half a mind to kill himself for the sheer decency of being able to do it on his own terms. Yet he had other plans in mind, he would escape and return somehow. He didn’t have the details, but he’d figure it out somehow. Some way. And that’s where the biggest change to his life quite literally walked up. Teras. Not knowing what Teras was, Dainn immediately readied himself to fight him. He wasn’t going to be killed by whatever the fuck had snuck its way inside. Not without a fight at least. Curse be damned. However, Teras made next to no attempt to fight but instead spoke to him. Aggressively and with a decent degree of venom and sarcasm.
However, what caught Dainn the most was that he was specifically called out for being a Kasumi’Oji. There was no way for this thing to know that. He’d never mentioned it and it was not something he showed off in any capacity. And yet here was this thing taking clear note of it with only a single glance. It was concerning and frightening with nothing to say about how utterly infuriating. Yet the next words it spoke talked of its own anger and frustrations against the family. How convenient. They’d started making enemies of the exceptionally supernatural. The family must have fallen so much deeper into their own bullshit. Yet his time was being wasted by this thing. Dainn needed to make a choice. Run or fight. Kill or possibly be killed. He needed to get away from the Seireitei even if the world around it promised death. And yet as he was about to run off there came an offer. Simple. No Faustian clause. Work alongside one another and fight against those who would oppress them. Control them. Use them. And in return gain freedom in some capacity. Power enough to have a chance at that freedom if nothing else. Dainn wanted to listen to the part of him that called it foolish. That said it was nothing but a deal with the devil. And yet, that anger. The resentment that had fostered within him. The knowledge of what the Kasumi’Oji were doing or at least had done. Let alone what they were willing to do to others? He absolutely wanted to get his revenge. He needed it. Dainn asked a singular question to ensure he understood just what the deal entailed. What strings if any came with it. But there was none. Simple as simple could be. Help me, help you. Together we’ll make both our goals happen.
Once it was made clear, Dainn had never agreed to something faster in his life. And thus, with the contract formed the two were bound together as most Bakkoto users are. Linked to the soul. The problem with this was what occurred next, however. Dainn and Teras, having basically gotten incredibly lucky with the lack of individuals around, had managed to avoid any remaining members of the Gotei 13. What they hadn’t expected was that the family was already going after Teras with as much force as they could spare. Their grand escape lasted at most, an hour, before they were found and subsequently caught. And then there was Takahashi Kasumi’Oji. Smug and clearly curious of what exactly had transpired between Teras and Dainn. Yet already knowing that the two were weapon and master. Thus began the newest experiment that Dainn and Teras, didn’t have the means to say no to. The two would work for the Kasumi’Oji or die then and there. Plain and simple. What tasks they would get was up in the air. It would depend on who was giving them said task and thus could be near anything. In return they didn’t die, and they got to live lives far better than what those of the Rukongai would be living in the near future. Dainn almost got them killed on the spot for what he was about to say.
However, that’s where Teras learned, he’d likely have to speak for Dainn in many situations. Teras agreed. Convinced Takahashi, though only as far as his expression was concerned, that they’d work for him. The other knew they’d try something. The other expected it even. But that didn’t mean he couldn’t use them to their utmost. Besides, if Dainn could get Teras to display his power and his theory correct he could take Teras away from him with ease. Besides. . . they could ultimately have the best chance of finding Shitoke for him. So, they were invaluable both from a scientific perspective, a personal power gain, and from his social gain to the family. The deal was struck, and they were swiftly hidden away at the manor for the next few weeks. The first district of all Rukongai was in the process of being rebuilt and their storehouse for him was one of the first buildings completed. Thus, Teras and Dainn were immediately placed there and from then on, their lives as servants to the Kasumi’Oji began. All with Takahashi’s gaze on them, waiting to see how they’d grow and evolve. And ever planning how to deal with them once they’d shown him what he wanted to see.
