Training for CTP and I have 30% bonus from this thread "You've got yourself a duel, Miyu." That's when Miyu and Rei parted ways as the bell for the next class rang, so the girl hoped that after class he will come to the academy's training grounds, Miyu didn't lose much time after class only taking a quick detour to grab some candies to eat while she waited Rei to arrive.
While not her first sparring nor the first against a student of a different class from her, this will be the first in which they will be on equal grounds (hopefully no binding her arms like last time), if anything that makes her even more excited about this sparring.
The girl would sit cross legged with her Asauchi resting by her side and the bag of candies on her hand, she would wait for Rei to arrive and start their sparring and see how things go from there, she's sure they will become friends after this as their early conversation felt natural and nice, there was a connection made earlier and hopefully this little spar will only reinforce it
I'm training for SP. I also got a 20% bonus from the thread this links to. I wanna not be a shrimp.Rei thought very little of the fact he offered someone he had barely met a duel, at first. Someone he had met through an accident they had caused, a duel. The bell for the upcoming class had rung, and Rei had not wished to be late. Of course, as time went by in class? He started to think on it harder.
Did he just offer to get his ass beat for the sake of training, as some may put it? No, totally not. Duels were meant to allow combatants to better themselves, right? That was totally what he had intended to do by offering that. There were plenty of words to describe a nebula of feelings that largely equated to 'was that the right thing to do?' Yet...There wasn't much to turn back from at that point. No, not at all, he told himself. The moment that class had let out, Rei set off with purpose.
Something that was noted by a couple of students that knew him. He always usually bolted off to go rest or study after class. Weird. The walk to the training grounds from Rei's class was not a long one, but...There was something to take into consideration. Rei usually trained alone--Rei also had never done a spar with anyone outside of a class. Unfamiliar territory, all around. That realization gave way to a possible reasoning as to why he thought this was a good idea.
To make that 'territory' familiar.
Arriving at the training grounds, it didn't take long for him to take sight of Miyu--annnd make a beeline right for her. "Huh, you beat me here!" Not that it was any difficult to do that. "How was class?"
"You know what they say, the early bird gets the worm!" Miyu let out a light chuckle as Rei arrived "It went alright, History is a bit boring but at least I can perform without problems unlike Kido" And of course the Zanjutsu class was a bit of a cake walk for her "How about you?"
Once Rei finish the Chinese girl would stand and stretch for a second before grabbing her asauchi and secure it to her right side, Miyu would take around five steps back from Rei so both would be at a good distance from each other and there wouldn't be an advantage to either, she would then place her left foot in front and bend her knees a little, left arm extended with the hand open while the right arm rested on the hilt of her tanto ready to draw if necesary.
"Rules will be simple, anything goes just hold back if using a weapon we don't want to injure ourself, this ends when one of us is in the ground without means to defend or quits, sounds good?" The raven haired girl would smile at Rei and wait for him to take a fighting stance so their spar could begin "Anything else you want to add?

An old saying to be sure, but no less apt. Rei could not really help but emit a chuckle of his own. That...was admittedly a rarity in it's own right, wasn't it? "That's good to hear--mine went...um. The same as usual, really. Have to hit the books after this, but...that's no big deal." He had brought his asauchi here and everything, so it would likely work well to make actual use of it. Meditating with it and ensuring you tried to reach out to the spirit that would make it a Zanpakuto was one thing, but actually using it meant some aspect of it was....yours. It may have been a katana like most others, but it was HIS.
Regardless. He had a dear new friend to indulge. Made doubly sure to ensure he was at least five steps from Miyu, too. So, she had a tanto...He had admittedly not seen anyone at the academy with one of those, so he had to try playing it safe with regards to his approach...Wait. They hadn't even STARTED yet! "That sounds pretty fair to me--We aren't necessarily fighting with anything on the line, so no reason to hurt ourselves without reason." ...There was also the fact that he'd feel bad if he did end up hurting her.
It was unclear why. Just...It'd feel bad. He held the katana in front, one foot in front of the other as he took a stance. "Ready."
With the rules set there was no other thing to do than to start, once Rei said he was ready Miyu would use her speed and sprint towards the student, with a quick movement she would unsheathe her asauchi and aim to hit Rei's Katana to push it out of the way, if she is succesful the girl then will use the momentum of her attack to spin around and deliver a kick to the chest of her sparring partner to create some distance between them again.
Tho thinking about it... She didn't know Rei that good so maybe a strong start like that wasn't the best? In any case the girl would sheathe her tanto and assume her previous stance, giving Rei time to make his next move as it would be better if him sets the pace of the spar and Miyu answers accordingly, see how things escalate naturally rather than going almost all out in the first couple of moves. "Hope my speed didn't intimidate you" Miyu would say giving Rei a playful wink.

Now, Rei was quick. That much was certain, but it immediately became clear that Miyu was the faster of the two and it was by a MASSIVE MARGIN. Well, massive to Rei--the author thought it was funny. It was almost blinding as he found his katana batted aside and a foot squarely PLANTED in his chest. What in the...? Luckily it was just those two strikes he had to contend with, with Rei being sent staggering back with wide-eyes.
Processing. Processing...
Huh.
It was an interesting first move as Rei regained his footing/balance, as well as his stance. "Well, it's intimidating, sure, but I like that! It gives me a ceiling to reach past." Was that the right set of words for it? Perhaps...? Well, it was time to show the one thing he knew how to use! Shunpo! He took a step, and seemed to become a blur as he wound up near Miyu, close enough to swing the flat part of his katana for her. What the fuck. This was a horrible plan!
400-50=350 Reiatsu after that!

Miyu looked as Rei was sent back and seemed confused as to what just happen, maybe she over did it a little, but the shinigami hopeful was able to regain his footing and be ready and his answer was enough to make girl smile, he definitely has the right mindset but if he wants to reach that ceiling he will have to try hard as Miyu is not gonna make it so simple.
Now Rei took the initiative and in the blink of an eye he close the distance between them, Miyu unsheathe her tanto and raise it in front of her on instinct, she didn't thought where the attack could come from but luckily she guessed right, both asauchi clashed and the girl planted her feet firmly standing her ground avoiding being push back while she thought of an answer.
"You almost got me" She smiled then took a deep breath and put all her strength to push Rei off balanced, if she manages to do that she would do another 360 spin while lowering her body to make a sweep attempting to throw Rei to the floor, whether she's succesful or not the girl would sheathe back her Asauchi and observe what would be Rei's answer
Given the words he had just said about Miyu being a ceiling to reach past? It was starting to become apparent that Miyu was, even as a student like him...Far more specialized in physical combat than he had been. This was good, though! If one was inherently more skilled at this than he was, then it meant he had a good resource to look to in his fellow shinigami. There was the clash of asauchi, the ring of steel filling the air!
What a lovely sound. It wasn't anything burdensome like a clang, nothing so ugly as that. But it meant that Rei's strike didn't connect...with the intended target, at least. That was fine. That happened from time to time. Rei was quickly pushed off balance, though he was quick to regain it, hopping back and causing Miyu's sweep to go wide! Just a bit, however. 'Almost got me,' she said...Hm. Try harder, that was what his senses told him.
Alright.
Sure.
He darted in, before he would start to swing a flurry of blows with his asauchi. It was something that would most likely prove simple for Miyu to block, but so many at once? Rei was hoping it would wear her guard down. All the same, he had to wonder what exactly she had been planning to do if that sweep had connected. Follow up? Or just watch...? Perplexing.
For a second Miyu thought maybe she was going a bit too hard with Rei, there was a clear gap between them but not as big as one might initially think, and while doing her best would also push her classmate to do better if she keeps the advantage all the time there's not much he can learn and viceversa.
Of course said thought faded once Rei regain his balance rather fast and move away from her sweep, the girl would make a full spin and go back to her previous stance sheathing her Asauchi and awaiting for Rei's next move, what she didn't expect was for him to dart forward almost immediately and throw a flurry of towards her, while easy to avoid for her truth be told this was a less than ideal situation as if Rei keeps putting pressure using the range of his own Asauchi there's not much Miyu can do to get back in close combat range.
She has to commend Rei on finding a way to keep her at a range she's not quite effective and still be able to attack, this situation would last until one of them gets tired and she either get hits or Rei gets himself open for an attack but Miyu is not going to wait for that she needs to tip the balance back on her favor now, the girl would jump back out of the reach of her classmate's flurry and once she landed she'd use a flash step to reposition herself.
In the blink of an eye Miyu ould disappear out of Rei's field of view and move at a speed of 1650, even if her classmate was not able to keep track of her the moment she appear behind him he would most definitely hear the sound of her Asauchi being unsheathed, Miyu would first attempt to kick Rei behind the knees to force him to kneel if she succeeds she will use the hilt of her Asauchi to give him a soft bonk on the head. Total Reiatsu: 350 (-50 from Shunpo)
A movement technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. As speed is the main point of the technique, the method is best characterized by how fast one can get from Point A to Point B in the least amount of steps. Training and skill are what determines how fast a user of Shunpo can move. Those of little skill in the technique or those who haven't used it for an extended amount of time would obviously be out of practice, causing those individuals to be considerably slower. This requires the use of more steps to move the same distance and become tired more easily in a shorter amount of time. A single step magnifies speed for that step by ten times. Shunpo uses fifty Reiatsu per step. This one is automatically learned in the academy. All Shinigami know this when created. This technique does not take up a technique slot.
How to use technique:
Focus of Reishi around the feet area and launch off into a single blurring step. It is not unlike teleportation in appearance, but it is simply extremely fast movement. It is often used to gain an edge in a single moment of combat or to dodge incoming attacks.

There had been reason behind this. If Rei were able to NOT give Miyu an inch to attack, he'd be able to tire her out. Tire her out, she gets sluggish. She gets sluggish? All the better for him, really! The range of his Asauchi was something he was putting to it's full employ here, as he seemed to have correctly figured that Miyu's arms DON'T reach that far, and the woman was good with her hands in a fight. Which. Sounded wrong. Eh.
Of course, she was still an extremely mobile combatant, as she managed to jump out of the path of Rei's flurry, prompting him to cease. Bring the sword close--but, he then saw her seemingly vanish, and hear the sound of a blade drawn behind him. Shunpo. Well, turnabout was always fair play, wasn't it? He had to try moving away from whatever was coming, and that resulted in her blow only hitting ONE knee. "Ack!" He yelped, before the truly embarrassing part landed.
Bonk.
"Wait, why on...Wha-..." Rei was more disoriented than anything, rubbing the spot on his head where the THUNK was heard. Owie kazowie, oof my bones, as they said.
Everything went just as she planned, once she move using her Flash Step she was sure that Rei was not going to avoid her, evne when he tried to move and avoid the incoming hit she was faster and forced him to kneel before the quick bonk with the hilt of ther Zanpakuto, the girl couldn't help but chuckle a bit seeing Rei but also wonders if maybe she over did it a little bit, she might not be the strongest out there but she's not a weakling either and controlling her strength is a bit hard.
"Are you OK?" Miyu would walk up to be in front of Rei and then bend over a little "I did not intend to hit you too hard, sometimes I just get a bit too excited about sparring and fighting and stuff that I just forget to hold back a bit" She admited giggling, she then would stand straight and offer her hand to help Rei stand up.
"Do you want to continue or take a small break?" She'd ask with a smile, they just started but taking time for Rei to gather his surroundings wouldn't be a bad idea.
