On hearing about the new video game Kazura had developed, Irina's first thought was "sounds interesting, but I don't really want to play a video game" but then she thought about it. Video games were supposed to help people relax, maybe if she relaxed she could be more productive in her work. Having seen that this could be a means to accomplishing more things in a day, she borrowed the bioscanner and set it up in her office. She put on the helmet, wondering how much the safety of this thing was tested, but nonetheless went to sleep, and woke up in the world of Zanjutsu Online.
She scrolled through options for making her Avatar, selecting a pre-built character, an emerald-eyed, medium-built, hooded woman. She named her character Gayle Huricus and read through all of the character creation options. She picked the Medic Class, allocated her stat points, and chose the Bash and Fireball skills. Armed with a Starter's Staff and Starter's Leather, she left for World 1, the Slime Plains.
She looked out, seeing the grasses and occasional rock. There were some Quest locations on her minimap, but she decided to go looking for regular enemies to fight instead.

Gayle found a Wind Slime and a Wood Slime that approached her and initiated combat. She got close enough to bludgeon the Wind Slime and used her Bash Skill with her Staff. The base damage she could have done was 10 (4 weapon power +2 Strength +2 Skill Power), but she did have some chance at a Critical hit. The Wind Slime responded with its Wind Slicer attack, dealing (2 Strength + 5 Power) 7 damage back, while the Wood Slime grew slightly faster and stronger. Gayle felt pretty confident in her ability to take on two of these slimes on her own right now, even at level 1. Although in real life she would be much more cautious, Irina thought "this isn't real life, let's just go for it."

Shiroi Kishi, with his overly muscular frame and winning smile, logged in at World 1, the Slime Plains, to find another player fighting some slimes in the vicinity. Wearing his chain armor, with a big wooden shield and wooden tree-like club, he started to advance towards Gayle. She looked to be handling herself just fine, but Kazura was overjoyed that someone else was playing his game at the same time, so he thought he'd join them in the fun. The Wind slime and the wood slime would be easy enough for Gayle to take out on her own if she didn't let the Wood slime get too powerful, but Kazura knew that as soon as he joined the encounter more slimes of a different variety would appear. That would be okay, more experience for the both of them. As he got close enough to make eye contact with Gayle, he called out to her.
"Party up, friend?"
He opened his menu and sent her a party invite so they could share in XP and gold drops for the other's kills and moved within combat range. He didn't know what would appear, and he wasn't fast enough in his Chain armor to be able to get close enough to hit any of Gayle's slimes this round, but he was hoping she'd let him in on the fun.
