Raphael looked down at the city unfolding before him, as the plane began to prepare for a landing, and then stretched. He both loved and hated travelling; the worst part about travelling was the packing and unpacking of all of his crap. Not that he necessarily had all that much stuff to start with, but it was just the settling in somewhere for a little while, only to come back and settle back into an old place again. Yet, even as the ennui crossed his face, he had the strange feeling that it was like the place was being refreshed, almost like coming home was instead coming back to something new. Ironically his time spent in America was as fun as his time in Japan had been. He’d hated living in Chicago for so long, but now he e was beginning to understand why his mom said that when he spent time somewhere else that he would come to love his old home.
Yet, no sooner had the plane landed than he began to receive text messages; well not text messages but alerts from Uzaki Enterprises that something had happened. There were many different ones, most of them about some small fry hollow alert, some a bit more powerful. But there was one that stood out to him. It was a short text, something about a Vandenreich officer having been defeated and captured. The very context of what he’d been reading made his heart jump in…many ways. Some good ones, but mostly bad ones. This was tantamount to a declaration of war. Who in the hell had done this?! What was the thought going through them?!
Immediately his mind turned to one man, no one CHILD: Luca. Only he was foolish enough, stupid enough, to think that something like this would be a good thing. No, something like this was one of the most idiotic things that someone could’ve done. Already he was concerned, and felt his hand tighten around his phone. It better not be what he thought. If Luca had indeed done this… He would be the first on the empire’s chopping block; but that was only IF Uzaki Enterprises was lucky. Most likely the empire’s wrath would be visited upon the entirety of the corporation.
But the real question was, could Luca have possibly been so foolish as to invite such disaster upon everyone else? He frowned. Unfortunately, yes. Luca was a bit of a fool and childish, not to mention irresponsible. The thought of him bringing forth a disaster, whether intentional or not, was frighteningly plausible and that only made him more concerned and, angrier. He was frightened, not only for Uzaki Enterprises but for Luca.
“Calm down, Raph…” he muttered to himself. “You don’t know if that’s what happened, for sure. It might just be that they attacked us first… If so, then that’s perfectly fine. But if he did do this, and if he flew off the handle… Then his selfishness and incomprehensible need to prove himself to everyone but himself will end up getting people killed…” He shook his head, leaning on his chin.
The moment that the plane had landed, and he’d gotten his bags, he took a cab directly to the Uzaki Enterprises building. Using his key fob, he opened the door and entered; what few employees were still there after hours nodded to him. He was there late at night usually so it wasn’t like it was a surprise for him to be there. He stopped one of the security guards on his nightly patrol, a man that Raphael had gotten a bit acquainted with, and asked about a “special guest”. The man looked Raphael in the eyes and nodded, before leading him to an elevator. Once inside he pressed one of the additional buttons: LG 4.
“So how are they?” he asked, as the elevator began speeding down.
The guard gave a bit of a shrug. “Well, about what you’d expect from someone that was taken prisoner. She doesn’t want to talk to next to anyone, and those that she does talk to, she’s extremely hostile to. Poor thing. Lost an arm too.”
“She lost and arm?!” He turned to the officer. “Who in the world was she fighting?”
He shrugged. “Don’t really know. I came in yesterday and she was down here. Rumors are that she was in a fight with Luca, but no one’s really been coming out to talk about it.”
Once more, Raphael was about to speak but the ding of the elevator interrupted him. Holding cells. Raphael didn’t even know that they had a holding area, but as he stepped into it the cross in his jacket pocket began to react, somewhat. It almost felt like a tug, pulling him forward. Well, that confirmed that it was a quincy that he was dealing with… When he walked around the corner, though and the security guard showed him the cell with the “guest”, he stopped a bit away, far enough that she couldn’t reach for him.
“Good evening. I hope that we weren’t too rough on you…” He stated with as much empathy as he could. He knew, based on what the man had told him that she wasn’t liable to be cooperative or, if she was, would most likely be upset. He’d already braced himself for something like that. Now, all that was left, was to see how she would respond…
