Walking quickly towards the area designated to her by Camila with a heavy heart, Wynne left her family home behind her. Taking one last look back, she tightened the backpack she was carrying on her. It was quite heavy, so it suited her current mood. Inside she had a variety of things, some that would get her arrested if she was caught with them. Since she was never coming back to the Kuchiki manor, or Soul Society in general, she had pilfered as much Kido literature as she could. After all, she wouldn’t get another chance at learning them. When she met another Kuchiki, it would be on the battlefield.
Not only that, but she had also stolen some generic Kido scrolls as well, to aid her in her learning. The academy was nice, but it was a Soul Society exclusive. If she had any questions, she’d only find answers in the scrolls. It would be harder learning, but she would have a better life overall. Well worth it in her opinion. It would take her months to go through all of the scrolls anyways, so she wasn’t really worried about not being able to practice Kido while she was on the run. This was something she was quite thankful for since practicing Kido was one of her main hobbies.
Taking the scrolls wasn’t too much of a challenge either. Wynne knew the guard’s rotations from her earlier visits, plus as long as she acted confident, she wasn’t questioned. It was interesting how far a change in mannerism could get you. Although she had access privileges anyways, so that helped her. She just rarely used it since looking at the scrolls was nice and all, but overall useless at her level. Sure she would be able to use some of the lower ranking Kido, but it was better to train her foundation in Kido first. If she didn’t, she’d only regret it in the future.
Wynne still wasn’t sure if this was the right move, but she was going through it regardless. Regardless of the consequences. She didn’t hate Soul Society, but neither did she love it. There was just nothing here for her. Some people she liked, but she wasn’t friends with them. Merely acquaintances. Her family didn’t care for her since she didn’t have a personality they deemed Kuchiki worthy. She wasn’t up to par, as her mother used to say when she was clearly in earshot. There was only so much abuse she could take. And her limits had been reached long ago.
If she couldn’t confide in family, who could she confide in? She had no friends. No one to turn to for guidance. No one to be there in her time of need. Her bridge with her mother had burned when she was put in a situation she wanted no part of. All thanks to her blindly trusting the woman who birthed her. Familial love meant nothing to the Kuchiki family apparently. Strength was all that mattered. It was ironic because Wynne would be gaining strength in preparation to flee. But in return, she would be tearing apart the bond she thought she had with her family.
It spoke volumes when a girl she had just met meant more to her than anything ever did in her entire life. All she needed was someone to listen to her, and she had finally found it. Sure it was someone who was on the run, but in the end it didn’t matter. Everyone had their own sins to bear, and who was Wynne to judge others on what they did? They all had their own reasons, and she would trust Camila’s with hers. She might be acting foolish, reckless, but she was acting from the heart. Too long she had weathered the blows that came her way. Meekly accepting all the pain that came her way. No longer. It was time to change. Time to finally be free.
And with Camila by her side, she was sure she could do it. All she needed was someone who believed in her. Just one person would do. And Camila was that person. Camila was strong, and with her guidance Wynne would be so too. The upcoming training would be the hardest she would ever have to go through. Mostly because of the timeframe the two were currently battling against. Time was not on their side, but when was something ever on her side? Time was yet another foe she had to face off against. And one she would battle with all her might.
Ignoring the pain in her shoulder blades from the straps of her pack, Wynne continued her journey onwards. The distance she had to walk was quite a bit, but it had to be. It needed to be far enough away from everything for the two women to not be noticed. Not only because Camila might be recognized on sight, but also because of her upcoming training. Training was loud, Kido even moreso and Wynne didn’t want to attract any attention to what she was doing. She wasn’t sure how long it would take for her theft to be noticed. It could be as short as one day, or as long as four, depending on when they checked. Either way, she wanted to be long gone by the time it was noticed.
More time passed as she put one step forward, one after another. She tried not to think, but such a thing was hard. She was nervous, excited, yet worried at the same time. A mixture of emotions that was turning into a mysterious concoction she wouldn’t know the results of. Shaking her head from side to side, Wynne tried to banish the unwelcome thoughts from her head. The plan was simple. Meet Camila. Train. Then leave. She’d deal with the rest of the problems after these three steps were done. No point in thinking of what would happen after until these steps occurred.
After an uncountable amount of time, Wynne finally arrived at her destination. Sliding her backpack off of her back and placing down the rest of her bags, she took a moment to stretch and relieve her aching muscles. Looking around for Camila, she wet her lips before speaking as her eyes roamed about. “I’m here Camila, with all my stuff.” The past few hours had trained her nerves. Now it was time to train her body. She needed it to be strong enough to survive the upcoming days. Slacking off was not an option. She needed to train as if her life depended on it. Because it certainly did.
