Staring up at the comforting looming moon overhead, Wynne let out a relaxed sigh. It was times like these that made her miss coming to the realm of the living. Sure soul society was nice, but she had been there all her life. There wasn't really anything new there for her to see. Visiting the realm of the living was a novel experience, and each visit was fun and exciting. The amount of things humans created to entertain themselves was astounding while things in the soul society were more stagnant. She wasn’t really complaining per say, but she had to admit, where she was now way way more interesting.
As she walked through Karakura Town, Wynne kept a lookout for anything strange. She wasn’t sure what it was about this town, but odd things always seemed to occur here. Be it hollows or spiritually aware mortals doing some sort of shenanigans. Was there something in the water that created them, or did they just choose to congregate here instead? She wasn’t sure if she would ever find the answer, but it was something to think about.
“Everything seems fine to me. Unless I’m missing something?” Closing her eyes and probing her surroundings, Wynne tried to sense for any strange reiatsu lurking about. Unfortunately her sensing wasn’t top tier, so she wasn’t sure if she didn’t notice anything due to actually there being nothing or if her sensing just wasn’t good enough. Still she had tried her best. Plus she wasn’t the only shinigami stationed here. Even if she did miss something, someone was sure to pick up her slack.
Another sleepless night, another night of wandering. The decaying of life around the area was apparent, and even amid homes and gardens things all met an quick, and untimely end, as did people. To the less spiritually inclined, this phenomenon was in many cases ruled as an unknown pest of life, bacterial, and all consuming in it's random/ unpredictable wake.
But to those inclined they would spot the reddish pink haired man amid the golden storm of uncontrollable reiatsu of massive magnitude, walking among the area calmly. His power radiating from himself at thec center of the massive area, where he moved about in almost semi bliss oblivion. Well almost, he was mostly in thought noting the miniscule bits of life force he accumulated from his flood's results, and headed towards a bench along the side of the street. The insects and critters long since dead by the time he reached the benches, as an colony of ants in futile nature of survival all had perished as well. Well several by his count.
Screams of shock, fear, sadness, grief, and the likes as the lucky ones discovered the mess outside and their deceased family members/ pets, but for relius, this was but another evening stroll as he picked up a news paper from the now fading husk of a now dead homeless man and sat down ruffling the paper and glanced at its contents.
"hm these stocks have dropped significantly, perhaps one of these days i might invest, it might cause a scene with dead investors, but who knew that eliminating the remaining time of the stressed was nothing short of mercy."
Relius talked to himself softly as he flipped through the pages, a childhood memory of comics in his youth when he was alive. A small smile came to him as he amusingly glanced through the contents. He heared the sirens from a distance once more emergencies emerged by this case, and once more the chase was for the regular people to lose.
"maybe i should visit a prison next and make better use of this, but perhaps there are more use to eliminate criminals at this rate, it may make the world much more safer, and open up prisons for the more deserving, but upset the balance of things perhaps as well. But doesn't all changes take a good adaptation behind it?"
The words escaped him as he glanced over another news article of crimes for the news, but besides that, it was politics, and even the meantioning of new inventions in the works. Things that once more all became nothing interesting, or worth value to relius. He folded the news paper and neatly placed it next to him and beyond his range of his field he could barely hear the crickets in the park.

According to her senses, something was definitely not fine with tonight, as Wynne had first assumed. There was a small pit of dread lingering in her stomach, and she wasn’t sure why. Over the years she had learned to trust her gut instinct, so the more steps she took, the more cautious she became. Something wasn’t right, but what was it? Closing her eyes and sending out her senses once more, the problem was soon revealed. Some of the life forces she could sense were disappearing, rapidly at that. Turning to face the direction the problem was coming from, Wynne began to run. There were people she needed to protect.
As she ran, screams began to sound out from the area in front of her, becoming louder the closer she got. Was it a hollow? Doubtful from what she could sense unless it was an extremely strong one. But even then it would have to be incredibly fast to kill the things at the rate she was sensing. Plus the victims didn’t seem to be strong spiritually. A hollow would gain nothing from killing them but wasted energy. No, the cause was something else. Something that seemed far more dangerous.
Following the devastating trail left in the wake of the culprit, Wynne soon noticed a pink haired man in the distance. She also noticed the enormous golden reiatsu surrounding him, signaling the enormous strength he held. Judging from the corpses behind him, this mysterious person was who she was looking for. The question now was how to stop him. Judging from his power, she doubted she’d be able to get that close to him. Perhaps she could signal him from a distance?
Increasing her speed to catch up with the man, Wynne stopped a few feet away before calling out to him. “Hey, were you the cause of all this destruction? Quite a bit of people are dying because of this, you know.” Feeling sweat drip down her face, she began to frown as she felt herself become exhausted. What kind of strange power did this man have for this to happen to her? She had only just arrived next to him, and she was already feeling the effects. Perhaps approaching him at her current strength was not the best of ideas.
the sounds of crickets chirping soon were interrupted as it was refreshing to hear a bit of life beyond his area of influence. But relius frowned as he glanced to the sound of gasping, and the now notable increase of life force filling the area around him. He raised an eyebrow as it was not like a few hundred people came running in. it was from one source. She entered the range somewhere behind his seat, and her huffs became louder as she approached, and his guess was correct. he turned on the park bench and faced the girl raising his hand to stop her.
oh my, this one grants so much energy. but i really should'nt let her just sit there and be drained like a grape. too precious
he thought as his golden globe being eyes studied her for a second. As he raised his voice loud enough for her to hear as, it was there was little interference from other creatures.
"go back about 95, feet young lady, the closer you get the harder it will be. Do not fret however, i will communicate with you with a less taxing way.'
Relius smiled at this and noted her strength. it felt nice to see another capable of surviving longer then a few seconds, but in itself it only meant he did not wish to harm her or anyone else. Instead he took to another method to keep the girl from perishing. A pen was in the husk of the homeless man and relius picked up the news paper he was reading.
by stringing together words through circling them, and likewise creating his own he strung through the paper using 2 pages to write his response. As he explained the following.
dear strong soul
You survived! good job heeding my warning, but it is best to understand I can neither control this, nor am i doubtful i ever will. rest and good diet will restore your strength, but the closer you get, the more life you lose. I do not mean to kill others, but it is no different however then a storm taking hundreds of lives, or disease. people make their way and unfortunately even if i mind distance they pass my field. It is how life ends at times. I cried many years over it, but now it is every day.
Before you jump to conclusions, or assume i am some person worth striking at. that too is unwise as well, the results will be, unfortunate for all parties, but i say we leave a truce, i harbor no ill, otherwise i would've just ran through every inch of this town. But i desire nothing but peace. so a question.
What is your name, and how are you so strong willed? normal humans, insects, crittera and plants all fall, while the spiritually charged could last a bit, but life is a cycle and even death meets the deathless.""
with that relius stepped back from the bench and gestured to the girl to look around her at the lifelessness and pointed to the bench. making sure to step back 100ft out of respect for the girl.

Walking back to what she assumed was 95 feet away, Wynne watched the suspicious man with narrowed eyes. He seemed friendly at first glance, but she knew appearances could also be deceiving. Especially when the older man was literally standing next to a corpse that he had just made. Homeless man or not, a life was still a life.
The newspaper the nearby corpse was holding was taken away and written on before being placed on the bench. Watching the man back away, Wynne approached the paper to see what was written on it. Judging from what she could see, the man in front of her more than likely had something wrong with him. Or his power more specifically. Perhaps it was uncontrollable? Hopefully she would know the answer soon enough.
It took her a little bit to understand what was on the paper, but once she realized what was going on, she quickly solved the rest. His power, as she assumed, was uncontrollable. Dangerous too. She did think it was odd he claimed to not want to kill others yet he chose to walk in populated places. He claimed to be like nature, yet nature didn’t target populated places by choice. Still, there wasn’t an easy solution to his problem. Perhaps she could ask her captain about it when she got back? Wynne had a feeling she was a little out of her depth here.
Scratching her chin, Wynne placed down the newspaper and ripped out a sheet from her journal she kept on her. Talking this way was a little difficult, but thanks to the supplies she always carried she could expedite the process. No circling words for her! Clicking her pen, she began to write.
My name is Wynne. I’m not certain what you mean about being strong willed? Maybe what you’re referring to is me being a shinigami? I am one of the weakest, so I don’t necessarily see myself as strong. But yes, I am way more powerful than the common person or insect. But I have some questions of my own. How does this aura surrounding you work? Surely it can’t be this destructive 24/7?
Walking back the required distance, Wynne waited for a response. She hadn't written too much since she wanted to give the man a chance to respond. Plus she wanted to see how he reacted to her questions. The situation was still quite volatile, no matter how affable the current situation was. The man was powerful, probably more powerful than her. So she needed to be on her guard.
Relius noted the vast amount of life force he still had not absorbed, and took a mental note of the quantity. the constant flow had finally caught more and it drew a drop of curiosity into him. Unlike the basis of hunting hollows who developed a disdain of encountering him. Relius was certain that it was a spiritually powerful human he was dealing with, but he had been wrong in the past.
The girl decided to not play as much with him after looking through the paper, unfortunate, as he rarely due to his reiatsu had many entertaining guests. But it couldn't be helped. Noting the girl decided to use a notebook, the girl began to write down her response, and it wasn't long till she was finished, and placed down the notebook signifying his turn to approach. It was interesting at first glance he was certain the girl fearful, but he probably was certain it drew curiosity to the senario at hand, a good thing too.
Relius glanced at the note left and glanced thoughtfully at the note, soul reaper was no surprise to him, and captain was nothing much to draw his concern. It was outside resources that did not immediately concern him. Perhaps it was her question on strong willed. In his noting her confusion mostly be this. Relius glanced at the girl with a clear studying look. The use of reiatsu was in many cases taxing, but so was lolorife force in his case, despite being able to replenish his rather easily still. So if he was to look at her, there was nothing stranding her past himself really from physical capabilities, but his reiatsu did take a hefty toll.
after a few seconds he got the answer he needed and began to write.
"I suppose it was either a good spiritually powerful human, but soul reaper well i have not encountered one for a long while, but to answer your question, will tie it to your question on my power. What do you belive makes life? some say water for a living human, others say esscence, and even further say thoughts, but all in all each and every view is correct, and wrong. While a hollow may consume a soul rending it gone, i merely drain whatever esscense bembarks life be it spirit, hollow,or mortal. I touch that which lies between all races. it is life force. i could use it at my whim and the likes. It reqirues a bit of a good bit of reiatsu reserves, as these go hand in hand you see. But like anything, nothing lasts forever, you can see life fading from the dying at times, but i am much more of an example. I accumilate, and make it flow, and therefore thats how and why it is 24/7. but there are others similar in nature.
what they do? i could never tell, perhaps they burn down forests, and cities, or are responsible of sudden storms. But it would be best to always look for these anommalous natures, and be weary of their capeabilities, and the results if one is wounded, this area if it was me, and you will cease to be. as will a large portion of the sorrounding area for a solid mile or so. So where you might fear the worst, i am careful. it is good you are asking these questions, but further important to realize that sometimes it is best to know which is the lesser of evils, if things were black and white im sure your higher ups would not appreciate instability caused by hasty situations, and decisions. So is a few lives worth risking thousands?"
with that and a small smiley face at thexend of his statement, relius walked back and gestured the girl to come and read the reply. The point being that these were simply nothing short of the moral test of the girl, if anything it was clear her manner of looking at a chain of command was the good thing, but situations were diffrent, especially when unknown senarios were in place, and unknown outcomes. It was best to stay in line, well that was the normal case, but here it was different. And there was no ethics committee in place of personal judgment.

Scratching her head, Wynne read the words in her notebook once more. It was a lot to take in. First he questioned her on what she thought makes life, something she had no clue of. Philosophers way wiser than her had pondered this question and had come up with different answers, so being as young as she was, she wasn’t even going to try to formulate an answer. Only painful headaches laid on that route.
According to the words on the paper, the man clearly thought he knew what life entailed. Life force which kind of made sense if she thought about it. Still, that kind of answer was pretty barebones and vague, so Wynne wasn’t sure how accurate of an answer it truly was. Plus she wasn’t planning to take him at his word. He might believe he was correct, when he could be completely wrong.
Killing him was also dangerous, assuming the words he wrote were true. It would be similar to a bomb going off, an extremely powerful one. Maybe if he was defeated in the countryside it might be viable, but there were a whole host of problems with that method. Long range artillery and leading him to such an area would be required. Plus it might not even be worth the effort and destruction to try killing him. But that was up to her higher ups to decide when she informed him. This sort of situation was out of her paygrade.
Walking back to her journal, Wynne began to write a response. “Your power seems very strange. That and unique. I can’t say I heard of something like it. As for your question, it depends. Some lives are worth more than others, it just depends who you are. I am sorry you have to go through such a thing. I can’t imagine how it feels to live with such an aura.” Retreating backwards, Wynne watched the man with a frown. His situation was quite grim and she didn’t really see a solution.
observing the written material before him he was certain it was one of the few times in a long time, someone showed a slight bit of sadness towards his state, relius knew why it happened, and had long since, accepted the sadness and isolation. Still it made him pause and glance at the girl, he bowed his head a bit and gazed at the paper in wonder now. He felt the outer glow of hope slightly glimmer in the distance beyond his reach and took a small deep breath, he could not account for it all,but surrounding lifelessness, maybe it was all not for naught.
A few tears fell and hit the parchment, but he wrote now with more purpose.
"It has been a long time since i have read this directed towards me. It is like being beyond the reach of peace, no matter how fast you are, how kind you are, or how you reason. All is for nothing. But this felt good. I feel the bits of hope i had when i first appeared, when i thought i could go to my family once more, but well it was only the glimmer of hope, but it reaffirms that we can find someday peace, and i will develope a method one day a means to allow thoes like me to be able to walk among everyone with no risk.
That day has not come yet, but It will come, maybe a bit closer thanks to your bit of hope you gave me. This is good, and you are brave for showing this act. However, here we are, but as I deem it it is a catch 22 as they say. Duty and the act of people that may desire me gone, but in no way or form able to stop another one from appearing, or simply note that likewise my own normal existing is nothing short to an exceptinon beyond the control. But i will still be here amid this town, or perhaps travel elsewhere, There are plenty of things this world and even the other places beyond offer. So do not be concerned, you are one of few who survived being near me, this is good. Thank you.
But this power is not the worst, nor lightest, there are more out there, all sorts, I'm sure of it. Some may control the winds, or perhaps much more then that, and others, well could be like me, perhaps something more dangerous. One may never know. Maybe one may erase anything around them, i have no clue, it is why regardless, i must ensure im around, it takes one like me to know another thats similar. And by itself, it is good, but terrifying. As time goes on we grow more powerful, and its the same for all like me.
Gave you got anymore questions wrynne?"
with that he walked back to the 90ft spot he was and thought , about this feeng, that it was good once more to know there was purpose, and even kindness that could reach him still, It was refreshing, and an open belief. And perhaps through unknown means and methods saved him from going down a darker road in the future.
perhaps history's greatest darkest crimes could've been prevented with more kindness.
