Mining for Monsters, Non-canon story JT

The fat man barely knew what was coming. If anything he sensed a potent attack, hell he could even see the strange air slash. But alas despite his best efforts there was simply no way with the amount of force behind it that he'd survive. This was most notable when it attempted to block the attack with it's weapon. Even though the weapon managed to block around half the attack, the remainder cut cleanly through him just as much as the weapon he held. As Edward would walk onwards into the mining facility the fat man's two halves would fall on either side of him with the blood going in other directions before pooling around each half. The final thoughts of the thing came and went as quickly as it's attack.



Edward in the meantime having decided to focus on the presence would soon realize that it was to his right. However it was below the structure entirely. Walking to the entrance with a locked elevator he'd be able to look down and notice there was something. It was hunched over and it looked like it was eating something from the way it was tearing into whatever was before it. With a dark green almost black complextion and Edward being 40 feet above it and 70 feet away would have some difficulty making out details. He could however easily tell that it had a "humanoid" body structure. A head, two legs, two arms, and a vestigal tail. The "tail" was more like an extension of it's spinal cord and it was a nub more so than a real tail. Simply for it being big, even at this distance however, was why it was more than a couple inches.



The beast didn't seem to notice Edward yet since it did look to be eating. Or perhaps it merely "sensed" his overall presence and thus was attempting to hide, hence the crouching. Edward wouldn't be able to know for certain. But the ball was in his court. And if he wanted to engage now was the time. Regardless if Edward happened to look around the remainder of the initial room he had entered he'd find it to be a rectangular hall way spanning about 30 feet in distance to his left. The ceiling however was double that at 60 feet high. It was incredibly spacious and filled to the brim with various rocks and stones of sorts. Most in shoddy wooden crates with a few being in standard mining carts. There was even shelving with a numerous amount of these ores and stones that reached up to the ceiling.



If Edward really wanted to look ahead he could even see the room after this was far more spacious. And easily the use to be entrance of a cave that went deeper into the plateau he was now inside. There were more soulless miners outside the room shambling around or digging into the ground. Hell even in the room he was in there were 3 more miners minding their own business near the entrance. None of them had paid Edward any mind as they continued to sort through and replace some of the ores and stones that had fallen from a few now broken crates or overturned carts. Likely due to the impact of the stones Edward had thrown earlier. Even if he didn't destroy the structure it would be hard to ignore the force of two boulders thrown at his OS afterall.

[Edward]

Stepping into the vast room Edward could see and sense several things, most of them weren’t of note. There were around twenty or so of those soulless miners that had thrown rocks at him all around. He could see only a few of them, but clearly he could feel them in the next area. As well as that there were a few of those fatter beings that had some strength behind them. Fat clowns is what he would refer to them as. Even if they had an actual title or name to him they were nothing more than fat clowns, good for a bit more souls, but nothing else.

Still none of this was what drew his attention, no instead he looked downwards and off a cliff towards what was attempting to hide from his senses. There was a creature that was attempting to hide from him. Edward could clearly see the form of it. It was humanoid in form, say for what looked like a lopped off tail at the end of it’s backside. Other than being humanoid in shape there were clear differences between it and the other things Edward had seen in this place, this creature appeared to have a darkgreen skin and from this distance Edward could see that it appeared to be reptilian.

While it was hunched over attempting to hide, it’s color against the reddish rock didn’t offer it any help camouflaging itself. The only reason Edward’s attention was drawn to this creature was due to him sensing that it was stronger than everything else he had sensed. He smiled as he knew his first target if the logic followed that the stronger a creature was the more soul dregs he got from it then this thing with it’s attention drawn away was the first thing he wanted to kill. Still there was a considerable distance between the two of them, however Edward knew exactly how he would cover that distance.

Edward jumped off the cliffside aiming to land right ontop of the creature. He fell as silent as he could, however he wasn’t about to simply land on the being, that would be stupid. To take advantage of the element of surprise Edward kicked downwards and angled with one of his legs as he was about ten feet above the top of the creature. The force of the kick would create a shockwave with his full force. Along with his skill and technique for shockwaves he made the shockwave’s radius larger than the creature and aimed right at it in a way that the only way for it to escape the impact of it was to either rapidly dodge backwards or jump off the ledge that it was on. As for Edward the force of the kick and shockwave both slowed his decent and pushed him back to land about fifteen feet in front of the creature.

The demon had been waiting ever since Edward had thrown the boulders and managed to hit the building in the process. It had known something was around, and that something wasn't fucking around. Not like most things that walked by or in the case of the miners had fallen by it. Thus it had tried to hide itself, granted it didn't have much time but the interesting thing about the monster at hand was that it didn't need to do a whole lot to hide itself. It simply needed to ensure it had a good bit of space on the ground with which to dig a hole. In actually this "digging" meant eating away the envirorment around it. And it'd long since allowed his acidic nature to take over to start rapidly consuming the ground beneath his feet. By the time Edward had jumped down he'd consumed 15 feet in the earth at a foot wide and stored its internal organs there. The slime body around the organs would continue to consume and convert the dirt/stone beneath the current ledge allowing it to dig deeper as well as create more slime for the body to use.



Thus the beast was hardly concerned once Edward had come within 10 feet of it and subsequetly pulverized it via a shockwave. It was like popping a water ballon except it smelled far worse and was by far thicker in substance. It splattered thick black-green gunk all over the place in a 30ft area. To make matters worse Edward had landed on some of it given there was only an additional 15 feet in front of the beast and that entire area was covered in this gunk. For upwards of a minute after this it simply remained still with the slime around its internal organs consuming more stone and now expanding it's small sanctuary beneath the surface another 5 feet. In the meantime if Edward decided to inspect the remains of the body he'd be in for quite the surprise. Firstly he'd be unable to move from his current position without removing his shoes. This was due to the gunk that had been thrown all over the place from his shockwave. It was immensely adhesive and only those with immense strength could begin to try and remove themselves from it. And surprisingly even Edward didn't have the physical capability to do such.



This was hardly the worst of his concerns. The second and more prominent thing to note was that the area around him was getting rapidly eaten away by the exploded gunk filled body. This was because the gunk was highly acidic. So much so that it took only seconds to eat through and subsequently convert the earth around it to more gunk. If he hadn't realized it from the adhesive property he would likely understand exactly what he was up against now. This was a potent slime monster and one that was only going to grow the longer Edward continued to let it feed on the area around him. This point was only further driven home by the fact that the area the slime had been spread around had already been eaten away by two feet. Allowing the monster to grow in total size by 60 feet. And the area 30 feet behind the splattered body was starting to see more slime spread and consume the earth there also.



Edward needed to figure out something and quick. Because even now, if he'd simply let the slime do it's thing his shoes soles would be non-existant and he'd be physically stuck to the slime beneath his feet. Only to begin feel his feet being eaten away. Meanwhile the slime monster simply allowed a set of eyes to form and bubble up to the surface looking directly at Edward. No expression was made but it was clear that it was looking Edward over. Considering how long it would take to eat him. Let alone if it could do so quickly. It had afterall been a long time since it had been made into a pancake afterall. So with a surprising amount of intelligence it simply continued to watch Edward and create more slime with which to use.

{Slime Ability}There’s a lot of times where the name of a technique is ambiguous or only hints at the power. . . This is not the case. The power inherited couldn’t be described any better. It’s a simple power, its physical form changes slowly but surely until it’s nothing but a slime monster made of acidic ooze. It starts off simple with merely the liquids his body naturally produces becoming highly acidic. Saliva, blood, etc. You name it and if it’s a liquid he produces its acidic. Hell even its sweat is acidic which makes having clothes that much harder to keep because within a matter of 3 posts all of his clothes are eaten away. The power of this acid is equal to his Strength and eats away at anything that has less OS than it. End game though? His entire being is changed into a slimy ooze monster completely made up of this acid.

To make matters more interesting at the higher levels when his entire being is composed of slime he gains the ability to contort and manipulate his form unlike anything a normal body could perform. For example though he could choose to remain human he could become a slimy blob monster or even take on the form of a canine. Really the mind’s the limit with what he could transform physically into however upon the last post of any stage where he can change his physical shape he will revert to his normal, albeit naked, form so long as he doesn’t pay the cost for that stage again.

The last arguably most important point to make note of for this power. At stage 3 the amount of slime he produces once completely changed is 10 feet worth of slime. After stage 3 he gains more slime to work with upon utilizing this technique. 10 feet of extra slime is produced per stage above 3, maxing out at 30 feet of slime to work with at the start of each post. However this is just the starting point as it can produce more slime so long as he consumes objects around him. The ratio however is 1:1 and he can only produce another 20 feet of slime per stage. Thus at stage 6 he can consume enough matter to produce an extra 80 feet worth of slime. This slime lasts until he transforms back into his original form. Upon returning to his humanoid, non-slime form, he loses all the extra slime he produced.

[Edward]

It went splat, Edward was sure that he would be able to kill this thing with ease, however he wasn’t expecting for it’s entire body to turn into a fine paste all over the cliffside ground. Edward landed on what was leftover of the creature, however as he did he felt something was off. First and foremost there were no soul dregs entering his body like they had the previous times. The second and most disturbing thing was that Edward could still very clearly feel the energy of the being all around him coming from the strange paste that was once the creature’s body.

It was at this time he both smelt and heard the sounds of the soles of his shoes melting beneath his feet. Annoyed by this Edward first attempted to pull away his shoes from the acidic substance, only to find that he couldn’t. Using his full strength he wasn’t able to pull away from this ooze. Edward glared at this thing’s eyes. This wasn’t his normal world and there were things that he didn’t quite understand. Edward wasn’t about to make the same mistake again. Even if this creature was worth souls it wasn’t worth the effort of actually killing it.

Edward knew exactly what he was going to do steam started to rise from his body as heat began to exude from his body. His strength in a single moment rose up, instead of using blute to increase his physical strength and speed he chose to use pully, while not as effective nor as safe as blute he didn’t need to really go all out. All he needed was just a bit more strength, enough strength to free his feet from the ooze and be able to escape.

His escape would be both and attack and a way of getting away from this ooze that it wouldn’t expect. Using his newfound increased power Edward slams the heels of his feet into the ground creating a massive earthquake as well as using that force to push him upwards away from the now crumbling cliffside and back to where he had jumped down from. Edward had used this very technique before to bury free quincies in an underground base. The cliffside would have nothing to keep itself from falling apart and ever parts of the side of the cliff would fall. With nothing to grab onto his hope was that the slime beast would simply fall into the void. He regretfully landed on the ground his bare feet now touching the earth.

The slime if it could would have smiled as it saw Edward struggle against it's adhesive property. In fact it bubbled a little to allow it to give off the feeling of "chuckling" though all it really did is make the pungent odor of the slime be that much more apparent. And not to Edwards benefit given how close he was to it. This however was incredibly short lived as the monster quickly realized that Edward charged himself up with some kind of energy and from the way his body temperature was increasing it wasn't something it was super thrilled to see. And then Edward pulled up his foot only to return to sender.



It didn't take a genius to know that Edward had gotten stronger somehow and was going to do something either to the slime itself or the cliff. The monster wouldn't know but it couldn't take a chance of being blasted away. . . Not alone at least. What Edward failed to realize however was just how quick the slime could be when it mattered and now was the time it would matter a great deal. Enough so that Edward really screwed the pooch by staying within the range of the slime. See while Edward was fast, even at his increased base speed he was still slower than the slime was naturally. This would be the foundation for how Edward would be dealt with in the immediate.



To start as Edward was in the process of slamming down his foot he'd immediately find both his legs covered in the slime. This slime would stop covering his body by the top of his glutes. Now under normal circumstances Edward would likely have had time to evade this had it just been his baseline speed but instead the slime reacted by using Sonido Garra (9,750). This allowed it to move 10 feet of slime up his legs so quickly Edward wouldn't have been capable of seeing the movement, only the after effect of the slime now covering his lower half. Sadly though due to Edwards increased strength there was no stopping his foot from colliding with the earth beneath him and unleashing his shockquake. But by the time he tried to launch himself back up Edward would realize a serious issue was at hand. He would have no legs with which to use to jump away.



Without a doubt Edward would likely be wondering how that happened in the first place. And the answer would be simple. Upon the leg being engulfed in slime it would immediately become consumed by the slime via a special technique. Gluttony. For what kind of demonic slime wasn't a manifestation of Gluttony? And though Edward couldn't see it, the marking had since moved to his stomach to show that this thing was just as much a demon as the spider Edward had heard about prior. The only issue was that even Gluttony took a moment to work and that moment allowed him to shockquake the cliff side. However by the time the quake was launched his legs would be dissolved entirely with now his bottom most portion of his torso connected to the slime.



And to make matters even worse the secondary effect of Gluttony kicked in. The slime was invigorated. And with this burst of new energy came new strength. Meaning even with Edwards now increased strength he still wasn't going to escape the slime's grasp. His torso would simply remain attached to the surface of the slime and begin being dissolved rapidly. So through the pain of being literally eaten alive Edward would need to figure out something or he'd become lunch for this slime sooner than he'd have liked. However despite losing his legs and the slime growing to match and even exceed Edwards current physical prowess it was still in danger. The quake let loose by Edward had spread through the cliff and into the plateau that it was connected to and was shearing it off. The slime needed to figure out how to not fall down half a mile to the bottom of the plateau which would undoubtedly kill it outright.



To do so it would fling Edward outwards away from the building and the rapidly degenerating cliff to ensure he fell to his death. Or at least help make sure he'd be very likely to fall to his death. Meanwhile it immediately shot off tendrils to the wall of the building and pulled all of it's slime body, organs included, out and onto the wall. Now granted the wall was rapidly being eaten away by the acidic nature of the slime but this would only serve to ensure the slime itself was going to survive given it was eating into the structure and likely to reach a basement of the building or otherwise just burrow itself into the ground beneath it.



In the meantime Edward having been flung off was going to be no less than 300 feet away given just how hard he was flung in the opposite direction. The truth of the matter was he was quite likely thrown farther possibly even double that distance but that would depend solely on Edward and how, if at all, he could resist it or lessen the force behind getting flung. He needed to figure out something that would somehow, someway get him back to the building and it's solo ledge without falling to his death. Or if he was vindictive he could attempt to find a means of taking the slime with him somehow. But either way he was in an incredibly precarious situation. And without doing anything his death was assured.

One of seven that can be concentrated and brought forth in a physical form. This manifests as a mark on the body. For Gluttony, this mark appears on the user's tongue. Passively, this allows the user to eat and digest anything perfectly, seemingly having a bottomless pit for a stomach. When activated, this allows the user to bite through anything with a lower original stat than the user's original highest spiritual stat, or strength stat. When successively used on a living being, the user absorbs a portion of their power, increasing one stat by 50% for three posts. When used successively again within the three posts will reset the duration of the posts and stack the boost, up to three additional times per stat. 250 reiatsu per bite.]

{Sonido Garra}

Technique Description and Effects:

The Shinigami have a technique called Shunpo Karin, which increases the speed of one of their limbs for one movement with an enhanced Shunpo. In other words, they get a 10x speed boost for one arm or leg movement. Oftentimes, Arrancar took unnecessary damage against sword strikes from that technique. To counter it, they created something new.

Sonido Garra is a partial Sonido technique which enhances a single limb's movement for one single movement with a Sonido. In other words, for one movement, either a leg or arm can use Sonido to speed up. 13x is the speed boost associated with Sonido Garra.

How to use technique:

Activate the technique. Unlike Sonido, which costs 100 reiatsu to activate, Sonido Garra costs 150 reiatsu every time one wishes to use it. It can only be used once per post.
