Thread Title: Beast vs a Beast Participants: Beast, Rafael World: Soul Society Death Setting: Non Death Enabled Rating: R Location: The Wilderness of the Rukongai, far out from any civilization. Ruins of a forgotten Ogatago base lie nearby from which Beast emerges. Special Conditions: None Circumstances: Beast has found his way back into the Soul Society through a series of forgotten bases left by old enemies to all of the Worlds. He arrives and disturbs the territory of a Beast Clansman hungry to protect his pack...
Beast had left the jungles of the Amazon after encountering Kaze the Titan of the Wind and wandered for what seemed like days before stumbling on a forgotten base in the Human World. Only able to be seen by those with spiritual inclinations, and only able to be open by those with incredible strength due to the lack of power to the doors, Beast was the perfect candidate for exploring the lost and forgotten relics. There was little of interest to be found in this base, save for mention of a name that meant nothing to Beast or Grodd and a portal to the Soul Society. The name, which once struck fear into the hearts and minds and souls of the entirety of the Three Worlds, had been lost to history. The Ogatago. Their base in the Human World would be a good place for Beast to take up residence for the time being, until he could find a purpose again.
The portal to the Soul Society was convenient, as well. It put him far far out from any civilization in another burned out wreck of a base where atrocities had once occurred. It had the kind of energy surrounding it that revitalized Beast and gave him the strength to carry on. He needed to feed soon, or the worst case scenario would occur. The aura of the burned out base, the evil that had been here once, that fed Beast for now, though. As he explored the base, he found little that would hold his attention, but he soon found his way out into the Wilderness of the Rukongai. The sun was bright against his face, it appearing to be about noon. His thoughts turned towards revenge and Ken'ichi before settling on what he was going to do next. He needed power, he needed Bankai. And then he'd be able to take his revenge. That was the next step. But how to go about that?
Beast pondered this while just standing at the edge of the entrance to the base, looking very out of place with his pale ashen skin, yellow eyes, and drab clothing.
Wandering throughout the wilderness for the first time in the last several months moved the massive component of flesh known as Rafael. A Beast that embraced his new life in the wilderness never growing in size yet his strength, name and even happiness had flourished in this new world. Although he normally hunted at night in order to get what food he and the girls of his small pack needed in order to survive right now he was doing something different. Instead of going 5to the districts in order to trade whatever he could find for the things that he couldn’t, he was out searching around the home he had claimed for him and the others.
If he kept to a walking pace and knew where he was going he was roughly two hours away from where he rested his head. Now though he had exited the area that housed many mountains and hills and come across a more flat area. “Typical so many of them.” Rafael of course not disliking what was around him yet it was normal for him to walk across flat lands. Whenever he had to go to one of the districts in order to trade for supplies the area was usually flat. He’d only been to a few where the environment was different. Still though that didn’t mean what he was seeing about a mile away though wasn’t interesting.
It looked as if there was some sort of fort off in the distance. One that had been built a long ways off and didn’t appear to have anyone currently calling in home. Still knowing that he’d been taken off guard in the past and that certain Beasts wouldn’t give him any more pleasant interactions as a Shinigami, he decided to take it slow and just walk. So after a couple of minutes Rafael would reach the unique area. Now that he was closer though Rafael could tell, someone was definitely here. He could smell them and they smelled wild.
The source was about halfway around the fort to Rafael’s right which meant in order to find out what exactly this smell was he’d have to go that direction or just go through this fort. Again he wasn’t going to put himself in more danger than necessary so walking around the side was the course of action he chose. What he smelled though confused him a bit. It was almost like a Beast yet also human. Now if only he could pick up more details from just the scent as nothing else was giving him anything yet.
Beast felt something coming towards him. Some sort of reiatsu signature he'd felt before and was not excited to feel again. The first time he had witnessed this kind of presence he'd been trapped inside Grodd and was helpless to watch as the mute got trounced by Beast Clansman after Beast Clansman. Qaletaqa, Zeferoth, Chiku. All of them had crushed Grodd in battle. Beast was prideful and thought himself much better than Grodd, so against his better judgement he started to move towards Rafael, his Class 2 Spiritual Pressure being let loose as an intimidation tactic. If the Beast Clansman ran away from the presence, Beast would know that he wasn't worth pursuing and would chalk it up as a win in his book automatically. If not, they'd meet up shortly.
Walking from the base through the trees towards Rafael's presence, Beast drew both of his Zanpakutou and held them out to either side of his body. He wasn't playing around against a creature of potentially great power like a Beast Clansman. All of the ones Grodd ever faced had been powerful enough to wreck his day and put a sour taste in even Beast's mouth at their mention. The body that Beast was parasitically possessing was just conditioned to hate Beast Clansmen. Knowing that he needed to feed before too much longer, Beast was desperate but he tried to not let it show. As he continued to walk threateningly he ran through his mind his options for fighting someone physically stronger and faster than him, as much as he felt as he was the strongest he'd ever been he still needed more power before he was ready to meet his goals.
He had a few choice Kidou that would help him, such as Hiragana, but most of Grodd's techniques were useless to the Wraith. He had focused his energies into training his body, not his soul, and as a result was much weaker than Grodd had been in the reiatsu arts. And there was the fact that he still had yet to unlock Bankai. He had been humiliated by Ken'ichi in his failure to obtain the level of power he thought he had. He hadn't learned to balance Grodd's Zanpakutou and the one he forged for himself out of his own soul. He needed them to work together, not fight for dominance. He needed to continue to train with the twin Shikai released together, working in harmony to achieve levels of power together rather than separate.
The wild Beast continued to move forwards, not hiding in the slightest.
Continuing to move around the fort that quite frankly Rafael was interested in checking out now the large Beast began to feel the spiritual pressure being put out by whatever he knew was in the fort. Rafael could tell whatever or whoever it was either trying to flank their power or get him to run off. Either way the panther was starting to get excited, he wasn’t going to run, he was going to break whatever was coming his way. It always seemed the same, whenever there were more than just a few seconds before combat it seemed as if time slowed down. Rafael knew his adrenaline was pumping up now, anticipating a good fight against perhaps another Beast and even if it wasn’t at the very least what he was feeling told him it’d be memorable.
He had to wonder though was this really how he thought he was going to become during this life? He was happy living with the girls and just content to hunt, but at the same time the power that he had managed to cultivate for himself. The thrill of facing down other entities whether they have the physical might to match or even surpass him, or whatever sort of magic he had seen by the shinigami. All of it was almost intoxicating. Martial arts had been the thing to save him as a human yet it also led to his demise. Was he walking that very same line now as a Beast? If he lived only for combat was he really nothing more than just an animal? Rafael shaked his head trying to clear it and just focus on the fight that was no doubt at hand.
Coming out from the tree line though was the individual that he had sensed. Rafael’s eyes narrowed in an agitated display right from the start as he could see the figure of a human. This one though seemed to focus much more on physical might then any of the other Shinigami he’d come across, at least that he could tell. He knew of at least one Shinigami with physical strength more potent than his own that looked as if she could be a swimsuit model, so appearances no longer gave much indication in Rafael’s opinion. What he did take more stock in though were the two swords drawn and ready for combat against him.
This just confirmed even more that Rafael was going to be stepping right into combat a decent distance away from his home. Facing down two weapons at once, not something he’d done to this point. The Shinigami always seemed to have a single blade that admittedly could change its shape and possess abilities, but he’d never come across one with two separate blades. Above average height with a fairly good build Rafael still towered over the Shinigami, comparable to a tween standing next to a full grown adult yet size wasn’t going to be a determining factor in this battle Rafael believed. While this Shinigami had two swords Rafael’s reach was longer, something the panther would have to bet on to level the scale.
“Far from home aren’t you? What’s a Shinigami doing way out here?”
As Beast came out of the trees, letting his spiritual pressure run wild, he saw what appeared to be a massive bipedal panther. Almost nine feet tall, Rafael was impressively bulky. Beast scowled at the Beast Clansman whom he saw to be less than human. "Shinigami? You wound me, creature. Can't you tell by my pasty skin and my yellow eyes that I'm so much more?" Beast was not a fan of Beast Clansmen, for aforementioned reasons, and prepared to hunt this one with extreme prejudice. He assumed that his physical strength was going to be insufficient, so he prepared to even out the score.
Grow or Else, Oerwoud Hart! Burn It All Down, Bloeding rand!" Wasting no time, Beast released both of his Shikai. Having burned himself out more than once in the last few fights he was in, he tried something different this time. Instead of releasing Shikai at its full power, he reigned it in and held back. He would probably need to give it more juice more often, but he would pull back so it didn't have such a high up front cost. As he released both of the Shikai, probably to Rafael's dismay, he was left with just a single sword by the end of the transformation.
His right arm had gained a protective bone bracer around the outside of the forearm and the top of the hand, while his left arm had a full gaunlet of bronze up to the elbow and the saber he had been carrying was now on fire. As he released, Rafael would notice him starting to grow taller, though only about an inch taller so far, so there was still a long time before Beast got close to the Beast Clansman's height. But he was growing taller, with his arms growing to compensate as well. His hair, however, went from the medium length of about a foot long to two feet long in seconds and his fingernails on the right hand started to grow claws as well.
"Show me your fangs, foul creature, so I can cut them off and relish in it..."
This one looked like a Shinigami for the most part yet walked very much like a Beast something that puzzled Rafael yet at the same time altered him to the fact that despite the blades being held against him right now his foe was likely going to be savage. Something that frankly he hadn’t come across in a Shinigami to this point. They always seemed to be composed and accurate looking to finish things quickly. Casting spells in order to try and bridge the gap between themselves and him. Even the one that was stronger than himself had been more reserved despite being a crazy punk. This was going to be something different and despite that or perhaps because of it Rafael was really starting to experience that thrill in his spine, it told him that this was going to be fun.
“No, not really. You all look the same, different eyes don’t make you special.” What came next was something that Rafael hadn’t expected. This guy changed both of his swords right away, something that none of the other Shinigami had done. It was something that had puzzled him when thinking back to how they fought. Trying to severely wound or even kill him right from the start yet holding back the power of their sword. It didn’t make sense, but this guy, he was fighting different that much Rafael could see and now as he looked at what his swords turned into he could tell this was going to be more interesting then facing off against someone that could only use spells from a distance.
The only other thing of note that Rafael picked up on was the fact that his hair was growing fast, something that was a bit strange considering it reminded him of his own, he had to question why it would be growing in such a way. He wouldn’t dwell on it though as this Shinigami seemed to be in a hurry to lose. Calling out Rafael to make the first move in this battle between them. So the Beast did that very thing and would rush forward closing the small distance between them in an instant as his full speed allowed him to outpace most others. The first move would be Rafael lifting up his right leg intending to knee this Shinigami directly in the chest hard enough to knock him off the ground and send flying through the air towards the old fort.
The Panther rushed at him, much to Beast's delight. Though the Beastclansman demonstrated exceptional speed that surpassed Beast's own, Beast wasn't worried. He'd fought faster enemies before. He thought back to his last fight against Kaze the Titan of the Wind who had been able to send out fast blades and hammers of wind. Kaze had been faster than Rafael and still Beast had managed to hold his own in that encounter. Rafael's leg was coming up to knee Beast in the chest, but the latter was already bringing his armored forearms together to try and protect his core. With a surprising crack Beast felt himself lifted up off the ground and thrown like a ragdoll despite his incredible physical strength. This Beastclansman was stronger still.
The Shikai were durable enough to take one or two blows like that, but not much more, noted by the dent in the bronze gauntlet and a crack down the bone plating. In the air, Beast tried to orient himself poorly, not having any skill in any acrobatic arts. He had been thrown against his will, and as a surprise, so he flew until he neared a tree and could try and catch it with an outstretched arm. Said tree broke from the force of the Wraith colliding with it, causing him to spin out of control to the ground, but having slowed his rapid flight slightly. Landing on the ground, forcefully, Beast quickly recovered and picked himself up. He felt little pain from the force of the blow, and was quick to pop back up ready for a fight again.
"I'll show you just how different a Hollow Wraith can be, creature."
His hair was now three feet long, and he'd grown another inch in height. And he'd still yet to show off any of his Shikai powers. That was about to change, though. Beast kicked off towards his opponent with a Shunpo, arriving close to him in a flash. Spinning around, he aimed a kick towards the air next to Rafael, about a foot away from him, and pushed off a wall of Advanced Air Ground to use Shunpo Eichi sideways even in the Soul Society. That Shunpo Eichi was more than just a regular shockwave of force at 450 strength. It was infused with Draakstaking, Beast's Bloeding Rand Shikai technique. The flames that had burnt off his coat and replaced them with a gauntlet of bronze leaped from mid air, forming a flaming shockwave that would set Rafael ablaze if he wasn't careful. Meanwhile, Beast was sliding away from the shockwave having Stepped away with the same technique.
Technique Description and Effect: Not always is a single stripe of bladed flaming leaves good enough for Beast. By activating this technique for 100 reiatsu, Bloeding Rand’s flames can be imbued into another technique. For example, a Gouzen Demizu Kidou spell would be a tidal wave of burning water capable of drowning and burning victims or a Shunpo Eicchi could be a shockwave of flames. This can be done once per post maximum.
The "exploding shunpo" technique, this allows the user, for three times the normal shunpo cost, to initiate a shunpo. This shunpo releases far more power, and therefore anywhere within a meter of the user will be hit with an explosive shockwave equivalent to the user's physical strength when the shunpo is used.
How to use technique:
Stated above.
Drawback:
Stamina drain. Reiatsu cost. Can only be used twice per post.
Raising his leg and feeling the reiatsu century of the gauntlets was something that Rafael in truth was expecting to be a lot more difficult. He was starting to get used to the fact that when he attacked someone, especially a Shinigami they usually were able to cast off some sort of magic. It usually Brie him even if he managed to get a hit in. Sometimes it didn’t really do much and others hurt like Hell. Either way though this time when he kneed upwards and the Shinigami blocked he didn’t feel anything, but the strength of the Shinigami attempting to reiatsu his attack.
To be fair the guy was pretty strong, in truth he possessed physical might superior to both Lolth and Zadora, but he knew Lolth had other talents and Zadora well. . . If he could even land a hit on her it was either a fluke or luck. This guy was strong, but was he anything other than just that? Rafael felt the gauntlets bend inwards as he lifted the body of the Shinigami up off the ground and through the air. It wasn’t surprising, but at the same time Rafael had been expecting more from a foe with obvious hand to hand preparation.
Either way though Rafael watched as his foe moved through the air attempting to grab hold of a tree branch yet ultimately the branch couldn’t save him. “Is that really it? All talk I guess.” Rafael watched as his foe landed in the ground unsure just how strong this guy was now. It started to look a bit better when he got back up without any apparent problems. Then he shouted about how he was going to show him. Typical stuff, but he uttered a word that Rafael really had grown to dislike. “Creature.”
The Wraith executed Shunpo in order to close the distance between them right away. Rafael noticed him the moment he appeared. It wasn’t really surprising as this was usually the method that Shinigami used to attack him. Now though he was spinning around and Rafael could tell based on the placement of his body a kick was coming for him. Moving his tail from around his waist out Rafael started his own subtle attack.
Rafael’s brain processing information like a super computer in the human world allowed him to react easily to what was happening in front of him, but still he was caught by surprise. The kick that was aimed too high towards his left shoulder stopped suddenly. When he moved his eyes to gaze at the limb he saw something was off about the air. Having never seen this technique in the past Rafael was caught off guard, but immediately figured out the purpose of Air Ground and how it functioned. Just a bit too late though.
The Shinigami moving off the air ground was able to make a shockwave of flames from seemingly nowhere. Rafael though wasn’t going to let this be a moment of complete loss. The moment he realized the information about Air Ground his long tail wrapped around Beast’s waist squeezing him with Rafael’s full strength. As Rafael was blasted away with a shockwave of flames Besst would be dragged with him by the tail. The flames burning Rafael’s fur not only caused him immense pain, but also blocked his view as he was forced by instinct to close his eyes.
For the moment Rafael was essentially helpless, no manner to evade nor block the surging flames. No way of fighting off the fire that was clinging to his fur, nor the heat enveloping his flesh. A nasty bit of pain that shrouded logical planning from Rafael. In the moment Rafael could just feel his rage building as a monster our growl built within his chest. Through that rage Rafael managed to send just a bit of reiatsu to a single point in his body, allowing his hate to guide his next action.
The result would be swift as one of the imperceivable spots on Rafael’s tail grew. The fur of the spot would shoot out, extending in length while forming into a sharp spike. An ice pick that would immediately pierce into the stomach of this foe, growing through his flesh and blood until it breached through the other side. A wound that wouldn’t be quite as painful compared to the flames but one just as nasty. Afterwards Rafael screamed flexing his muscles enough that a minor shockwave would be created around him enough to disperse the flames. “Time to show you my Wraith!”
Technique Description and Effects: A technique of Rafael's own making that like many mammal techniques utilizes his fur. The fur slightly darker in shade known as spots which dot Rafael's body are the catalyst of this technique as these spots of fur grow at an exponential rate outwards from Rafael in a straight spike like manner.
Class 5: At this stage the technique has only blossomed from concept embarking through the first level of development. It's at this point that by focusing on a single spot located on his body Rafael is able to trigger a rapid rate of growth in his fur of that singular spot. The fur at a speed of 800 grows outwards in a linear shape much like a spike. This spike of fur will reach a total length of eight feet in distance from the rest of Rafael's normal coat while impaling anything in that distance with force equal to Rafael's Strength.
There wasn't anything Beast could have done to stop Rafael from sneaking his tail around his waist as he tried to flaming Shunpo Eichi away. He dragged the Beast Clansman through the flames, which had to hurt, but wasn't as bad as being flung away on fire. With Rafael's tail around Beast, when he came to a stop two things happened. The first was he tried to grab the tail at his waist and channel a familiar Kidou through it, laced with flames. Tsuzuri Raiden would have electricity arc through the tail and up into Rafael's body. Draakstaking would make it so it was also imbued with fire, so fire would roar up the tail and start spreading across the panther's body that he had just extinguished with a shockwave moments earlier.
The second thing that happened was Rafael impaled Beast through the stomach with his fur suddenly hardened. Hopefully Rafael would have let go his tail so that Beast wouldn't be continuously channeling lightning and fire through his body, but if the tail was still attached the panther Beast Clansman would find himself beset by a lot of pain and damage. If they were separated by the brief contact and the impaling, Beast would stumble backwards clutching at his abdomen now bleeding pretty heavily.
Growling, less in pain and more in difficulty getting his body to move correctly with the abdominals pierced, Beast willed a thin layer of hair to grow and cover his skin underneath his clothes. Rigting would allow him to move freely by forcing his body to go in the direction he wanted it to go, even with his side pierced. As he was a soul-inclined being, a single piercing blow to his internal organs wouldn't kill him outright, but he was definitely hampered by the attack. He was being forced to use a great amount of energy just to move.
"You force my hand... I would be very wary if I were you."
Regardless of whether he was still attached to Rafael, Beast's hand went up to his face. "Grodd, watch as I destroy everything you hold dear. Watch as I tear down the walls between us, force you to power me, and power through this obstacle to my Wrath." The chained Shinigami inside the Wraith's Inner World would let out a silent scream as his essence bubbled and was pulled out like a piece of warm taffy. Out of Beast's hand came a splash of liquid bone that settled across his face and hardened into the image of a tortured screaming face. There was a burst of reiatsu aura that was eerily dark in nature. And even Rafael would be able to feel the power surging from the Wraith that was not present before.
Whereas before Beast was extremely slower than Rafael, now the tables were overturned. Beast was now slightly faster. Not a discernable difference between the two of them, but a tremendous jump in the power that he had previously held. And that was just his speed. Everything about him seemed sharper, stronger, more dangerous. And yet he just stood there a moment, watching as Rafael dealt with the flames and the lightning that had been injected across the Beast Clansman's body. He was processing everything new for the first time, and from behind the mask the sound of licked lips could be heard ever so slightly.
"Prepare yourself"
Regardless of whether he was still attached to Rafael, Beast would close the distance between them, whatever distance that was, and simply punch at the Panther's chest with his metal gauntleted left arm. A single strike, a simple punch. Nothing special about it, just testing his limits. Testing his power so that he was ready for whatever he needed to do next. His right arm stayed up near his face, hand balled up in a boxing stance that would keep the bone guard on the outside of his body ready to intercept an attack...
Technique Description and Effects: Electric current flows through any object the user touches and is able to lead electricity, damaging any target that is in contact with the object the current runs through. This lasts for one post, but by paying the cost of the spell a second time, the duration is increased to two posts.
How to use technique: Speak the spell and touch an object, channeling electricity through it.
Incantation and Effect: Incantation unknown. When the incantation is spoken, the number of active posts this is used for is doubled. (With maximum cost, this can be up to four posts.)
Technique Name: Draakstaking (Dragon Strike)
Release Levels: Bloeding Rand Shikai/Bankai
Technique Description and Effect: Not always is a single stripe of bladed flaming leaves good enough for Beast. By activating this technique for 100 reiatsu, Bloeding Rand’s flames can be imbued into another technique. For example, a Gouzen Demizu Kidou spell would be a tidal wave of burning water capable of drowning and burning victims or a Shunpo Eicchi could be a shockwave of flames. This can be done once per post maximum.
Drawback: Reiatsu cost, limit per post.
Technique Name: Rigting (Direction)
Release Levels: Oerwoud Hart Shikai/Bankai
Technique Description and Effect: Sometimes, the body isn’t good enough to move on its own. Rigting allows Beast to grow hair around his arms/legs, or manipulate the bones of his body to keep moving even when he should be spent. This technique functions very similarly to Ransotengai. In Shikai, Beast gets a thin coating of hair over his body. This hair is not defensive at all, in fact it is very brittle, but it is able to regrow at a rate of two inches per post if it needs to reconnect itself due to being cut. In Bankai, the very bones of Beast’s body are manipulated, allowing him to move his body even if the muscles give out. This technique is draining, requiring 50 reiatsu per post to maintain it.
Drawback:Ongoing reiatsu cost, Shikai version is weak to fire, Shikai version is vulnerable to being cut and invalidated.
The sensations that Rafael was experiencing could only be summed up with a single word, pain. The flames that cling to his body like the clothing of a human were constant. Although they didn’t have quite the same level of bite as certain wounds that had been inflicted upon him they were ever present. It had been little more than a few moments as Rafael was sent flying backwards from where he had been standing, making sure to pull his foe along with him. Over those few moments though everything he’d felt had been a result of the fire that had been unleashed on his fur of night.
In the moment that followed Rafael pulled himself together enough to execute one of his own original techniques . Although at the moment he couldn’t hear the confirmation of his attack due to the sound of the blaze eating at his fur and skin, the knowledge that his attack had succeeded was gathered. This was perhaps the worst experience that Rafael had undergone though. He’d been beaten, broken, nearly drowned, electrocuted along with having sections of his body sliced apart or blown to nothing, the constant pain though.
Just a brief amount of time passed that was filled with both of the large combatants licking their wounds. Rafael dealing with the pin that had just been inflicted upon him with the onslaught of fire and electricity. A daring combo that for the most part had caused him pain he wouldn’t soon forget. Although he had just done the same thing only a few moments prior Rafael was forced to flex the majority of his muscles at once causing another minor shockwave resulting in the fire attached to his fur being snuffed out.
Rafael didn’t know the sort of training that the Shinigami went through nor if this guy was even one of them really. He seemed far different than all of the others that he had come across to this point. At the same time though he had some of the defining features about them like the sword that turned into something else and the techniques like the magic he had just used. Regardless though this was the last time Rafael would accept using the same method to save himself. Twice was already risky, but a third was surrendering himself to something else happening.
"You force my hand... I would be very wary if I were you."
“Another empty threat.”
The gorilla of an opponent put his hand up to his face and although Rafael had no knowledge of what was going to happen next he could tell something was about to happen. This wasn’t the typical sort of stance that he had seen which meant it was likely something unique to this foe. Something that was focusing on himself and not on Rafael. “Going to enhance himself in some way?” Rafael ponders within his own mind questioning whether or not he could be standing down someone with an ability similar to his own.
Just like Rafael had been thinking though it was obvious his foe was strengthened himself. Rafael wasn’t certain if the physical strength of his foe was going to increase based on what he was seeing, but enhancing anything else seemed pointless. The potency of his spells wasn’t anything to worry about so long as he wasn’t caught off guard. His skill in hand to hand combat and the strength though were two points that could be a problem. Rafael had been winning due to possessing the advantages in raw physical ability. If his foe usurped that advantage it would be difficult to maintain his dominance.
A white mask along with a burst of aura. Rafael squared off the next round to begin as the two stood each other down from several feet away. His arms up with his elbows ready, his right leg back and his left forward. His tail wrapped around his waist once more while sections of Rafael’s fur now were either missing or singed. Perhaps the biggest source of pride to the massive Panther as a beast with the exception of his strength was his fur, something he was definitely to get back at this foe for now.
Just like that though his foe rushed in displaying a level of speed that he hadn’t possessed only moments ago. He’d been moving slow enough that Rafael had felt like he’d been facing down a cripple, now though he was standing against someone on his level. Someone with a powerful straight that struck his chest, knocking the air from his lungs and fracturing his sternum. Extending his hand outwards Rafael attempts to grab the back of his foe’s head pulling him up and off the ground while bringing his head forward with every intent to bash his forehead off the mask of his foe.
Injuries: Second Degree Burns across body Fractured Sternum
Beast's punch went through without resistance, hitting the Beast clansman square in the chest and dealing a decent blow. A lesser being would have been killed outright, but Rafael was physically tough, tough enough to impress Beast. Only slightly. The panther grabbed at the back of Beast's neck and tried to headbutt the Facade Mask off of his face. This would be troublesome for Rafael as Beast's hair would animate like it had a mind of its own, flowing around the head and twisting into a highly durable shield. Sure, Beast couldn't see through this mess of hair, but his Facade would be protected. It might not have been smashed by a single blow from the inferiorly strengthed attack, but it easily could have been damaged or cracked by the blow. He wasn't going to test it out.
With a Durability of 1800, Beast's fortified hair wouldn't be even phased by Rafael's headbutt, but the Beastclanman might have a wicked headache from that attack. No one wins in a headbutt, they say, that is, if your head isn't fortified by one's Shikai in a powerful way. In that case, Beast wins in a headbutt. With the panther probably reeling from the force of the blow, and even if he wasn't, Beast was quick to counter. Tiny stealthed spikes formed at his right fist, the fist coated in Grodd's Shikai bone wrappings. These spikes wouldn't be visible without 200 in Energy Sensory, so Beast himself couldn't technically see them even though he knew they were there.
These spikes were the start of Sandjouken, the shotgun fist technique. Still grappled with Rafael from the panther gripping the back of his neck, Beast lashed out with his right arm, punching at Rafael's already wounded chest. The spikes would launch out with an offensive strength (both spiritual Reiatsu Strength and physical Strength) of 725. Sharp enough to cut into anything not made of spiritually durable material, strong enough to pierce through the heavens with one's drill imbed themselves into Rafael and even perhaps blow through his body. If the beast still had grip of Beast after that, the latter would bunch up his legs and push off Advanced Air Ground to soar into the air and drag Rafael through the sky.
A grizzly battle that was turning into a true exchange of physical might. The headbutt that Rafael unleashed on the mask foe wasn’t successful due to the abilities of his foe seemingly reaching a new stage that he hadn’t displayed prior. It was becoming more and more apparent that Rafael wouldn’t be able to hold back soon. His opponent wasn’t holding back anymore and if he kept doing that this wasn’t going to continue. A challenging fight is something to be enjoyed, risking his life recklessly though wasn’t his style.
When the collision occurred Rafael could feel the durability of what his forehead had just impacted, definitely harder than what he had been expecting from a white mask. Pulling his head back as his foe channeled their reiatsu to form spikes around his fist. The sight of the white mask no longer present Rafael can feel a shiver rush down his spine. A warning from his heightened instincts that he was in severe danger. Unsure what was about to happen Rafael doesn’t vanish like most instead utilizing the grip on the back of his foe’s head in order to throw him off to the side with all his strength.
He’d be unable to stop the prep work for the attack that his foe was planning, but he’d put enough distance between them to ready himself for whatever was coming. There was a problem though, once he’d get a look at the opponent nothing seemed out of the norm except for the fur that was covering his mask. Unable to perceive the spikes that had been formed, Rafael uninformed stands his ground ready to see the decent sized opponent vanish. He had to counter what was coming otherwise he wasn’t so sure he wouldn’t just be walking into an attack.
The spikes were fired off into the air harmlessly as Beast punched thin air. His opponent had thrown him with considerable strength, but Beast wasn't about to let it hinder him as he jumped into the air with Advanced Air Ground and Strength Step. From his vantage point in the air, he watched Rafael just seem to stand there... Well, no matter, Beast was sure this Facade Mask wasn't going to last very long. Already he could feel the strain on his body. He had to act quickly if he was going to have any hope of dragging this Beast clansman through the dirt. Which is exactly what he felt like doing at this time. Falling to the ground from his Strength Step, he landed with a sizeable thud, enough to get Rafael's attention if he hadn't been paying his opponent any mind.
Beast started running towards Rafael, arms backwards and body shifted forwards. When he got up to full speed, he pushed off the ground in a Shunpo to get to his enemy all the more faster. But he wasn't aiming at getting close to Rafael, instead wanting to land ten feet to the left of him (right of him from Rafael's perspective). From that ten foot away spot, his outstretched right arm would suddenly explode outwards with hair measuring sixteen feet long. Like snakes out of a "Snakes in a can", these three braids of hair would reach out to try and grab Rafael with 600 strength. Paltry compared to Rafael and Beast's current physical strength, but still potent.
If the hair managed to catch Rafael by surprise, Beast would push off with another Shunpo to start dragging the panther literally through the dirt. The Wraith would be attempting to rush him and pull him forwards with a whip of hair and slam him into a nearby tree, still holding on with the whips of hair. Being flung at 3000+ speed into a tree would be debilitating if not crippling. Meanwhile, having the ability to look forward and not run into a tree himself, Beast would loop back around and head back towards Rafael...
Technique Description and Effect: Stil Roofdier stands for Silent Predator, which describes the kind of hunter that stalks his prey without noise. This technique is activated passively when the Shikai is released. Hidden in between the skin of his hand and the bone plate over his fingers is very tightly coiled hair. This hair isn’t spiritual, so it cannot be sensed or seen. This hair simply grows, starting at one foot in length and doubling in size for each post that it remains wound.
At will, for a cost of 200 reiatsu, Beast can allow the hair to explode outwards in three braids per hand. These stop growing after being released, and cannot be rewound to increase the growth. He only gets one shot at it per release, and would have to completely seal and re-release his Shikai in order to gain access to it, a very costly choice. Once out, they possess the same strength and speed as Beast’s regular shikai hair.
Drawback: Large reiatsu cost, and the inability to perform it again. If used too soon, it can be weak, and if not used at all, it goes wasted. The hair is vulnerable to Fire when released.
Tossing his foe didn’t achieve the sort of success that Rafael had been hoping to see afterwards. When throwing someone by the back of the neck one would expect the individual to fall to the ground. He’d been sure that his foe would slam into the ground with enough force to knock the air from his lungs, it seemed that wasn’t the case though as he seemingly stopped and jumped off the air. The way that he jumped was rather impressive, allowing him to get pretty high up in the air where it got rather hard to keep check of his position due to the sun. He couldn’t see his foe very well, his foe had just gotten faster and stronger than before, time to stop holding back.
That decision now made Rafael channeled his reiatsu throughout his body focusing intently on his heart. It only took a moment or so now that he had practiced it several hundred times. Originally it had taken him quite a few moments of concentration to achieve this state of change, now he was quite pleased with how he could just turn it in as easily as a light switch. Immediately his grey pupiless eyes shined bright violet. Almost comparable to a flashlight being turned on with a colored bulb. Rafael almost right away though didn’t just shift in the color of his eyes yet began to wince in pain. The wounds that his foe had managed to inflict upon him such as his fractured sternum were already repairing themselves.
A pleasant sensation this was not, a necessary precaution to the power that his foe was employing against him, possibly. Rafael ddd we coding to go with caution activated his Yaseishin unleashing part of his true power. A loud thud followed bringing Rafael’s attention over to see his foe now rushing towards him. Rafael having confidence in his training, body and race would meet his foe head on by charging forwards as well. Running with his arms raised in a vertical manner to protect the sides of his head and face while his elbows guarded a decent portion of his torso.
It seems though that colliding with one another wasn’t what his foe sought. Vanishing from his view for a moment Rafael shifting his ankles makes a quick spin rotating himself in a blur in order to see everything around him in order to find his opponent. Thankfully his foe wasn’t hiding although now turning to stand face to face Rafael could see an arm being held out towards him and then what looked like fur growing out towards him with a rush. Rafael grinning wide enough that his fangs seemed demonic leaps backwards as he channels his reiatsu into the center of his torso.
In the moment that follows Rafael’s own fur begins to grow at an astronomical rate, ultimately rushing outwards to meet the three strains that his foe had sent towards him. The three snake like applications of hair would clash with the massive of fur that took shape as a massive Panther head. The two clashing forces of hair would be a display for certain, a trident of wolves facing down a grizzly bear. After a moment though Rafael’s force of fur would power through if the snakes continued to fight against it as Rafael’s fur held his full strength unlike his foe.
The massive amogamation of fur seeking to attack the foe in the mask by opening its mouth and slamming down onto him with its full force. Rafael was almost certain that this wouldn’t be the thing to end the conflict, but attempted it all the same. If it worked though Rafael was ready to control his fur appendage even further by flinging his foe up into the air. “How long can he keep that mask up? How long can his sword stay like this?” Rafael wasn’t going to let his guard down with so many unknowns even if he was quite confident right now.
