Memories came flooding back like a monsoon straight through the center of her mind. Though Shizuka had not yet awoken, her brain did. It was throwing these thoughts and flashes of events towards her so quickly that she barely had time to process. Within her sleep, she twitched and moved. Had Luke been in the room at the time, he would have realized she was dreaming heavily. Only these weren't completely dreams. Instead, what was being shown to her was her own past. It was what had just happened. The show she was spectating was, in truth, her own life as she tried to kill her own boyfriend.
But she didn't know. How was she supposed to? The moment she released Inner Power, she felt such a surge of complete vengeance course through her veins like a powerful flame igniting her soul to its very core. It stimulated every killer instinct she ever trained herself to have and she wasn't able to resist it. The abilities she was given, the fighting power, the durability, everything was so overwhelming that it actually managed to overshadow her being and turn her into an ultimate weapon. She was Destruction Incarnate and she never wanted to be. This was supposed to be fun. This was supposed to be the two of them showing off. Neither of them were supposed to be hurt.
Yet here she was. She had to recover from the bite Luke had given her. Those feelings were also not completely gone, so looking at him without making some kind of move was going to be difficult. But even more than that, she felt so much regret. She had let such a terrible thing happen because she was mentally weak. Windstärke had suffered. He didn't deserve what she did to him. Shattering him in half the way she did... How was he ever going to forgive her? How was Luke going to forgive her? She killed his Doll! She was no better than the monster she thought she was fighting. Killing ruthlessly without remorse. She had felt nothing.
But Shizuka also felt everything. She felt tired and sore and drained. Completely drained. Not necessarily because of Luke sucking her blood, but mostly because she hadn't used that much of her power in a long time. She had gotten so close to the end of Inner Power's duration that it started catching up to her and she found it hard even now to move. Her Reiatsu reserves had also gotten dangerously low. But aside from the bruising and bite marks that were on her neck that would inevitably scar, she was relatively okay. Just tired. Luke, on the other hand... She had hurt him. She tried to murder him. She almost succeeded. But she hesitated. Why did she hesitate?
It would have been so easy. She could have used the last of her Inner Power to practically pull him apart but she didn't. She chose to trap him instead and do what? Make an empty threat? That gave him the opening that he needed but she couldn't explain what happened. Perhaps as she grew more exhausted, her subconscious self was trying to bring her back to reality. Maybe, deep down, she actually knew it was him. So then why did she try so hard to hurt him? What was compelling her to do so? Was it just because she was hallucinating and thought Luke was Taiho? That was the only explanation Shizuka could come up with. She'd never try to kill Luke. She couldn't. She never wanted to.
What managed to bring her out of her healing slumber was not actually her own mental shake, though. It was the smell of food. Good food! Shizuka smiled calmly in her sleep and rolled over with a soft moan. The smell was pleasing to her. As she slowly opened her eyes, she saw Luke sitting in a chair by the bed she was in. He must have brought her somewhere to get her out of the messed up fighting arena. Shizuka was going to be in trouble. She didn't hold back when it came to that thing and kind of destroyed it. But at least she had this smell to enjoy. This smell, and her ever-so-handsome boyfriend.
Luke looked good in his clothes. The choice of color suited him and showed off his body nicely. What Shizuka found strange was that he was missing his injuries. Had he healed? Is that a thing a Bount can do? As she tried to sit up, she winced and whimpered for a moment and covered the side of her neck where he bit her with her hand. It was a little painful, but the pain was brief. In the moment, it was actually really nice. She wasn't sure if that was just her or something associated with what happens when a Bount drinks from someone, but she actually enjoyed it. A lot. So much so that she was tempted to ask him to do it again.
She also suddenly realized that Luke was actually still there. He hadn't left. He hadn't abandoned her. Shizuka's eyes lit up with shock as she looked into his own. She was unable to stop the tears from welling up, but she did try to avoid crying in front of him by lunging herself in his direction. She caught herself against his body with her arms around his neck as she buried her face into his shoulder. He smelled so nice. He always smelled nice. She fixed herself so that she was straddling him on his lap to get a bit more comfortable but didn't let go. She cried silently and did her best to hide it, but he'd soon feel his shirt start to get wet. He'd probably figure it out.
"I'm sorry! I'm so, so sorry... I couldn't control myself. I didn't know what I was doing! I wasn't able to... And Windstärke! Ugh, what have I done? What have I done?!"
Now she really couldn't do anything to hide her tears. She didn't even bother fixing what remained of her makeup. She was lucky she was a pretty crier aside from running mascara, but cleaning that up was easy. She didn't snot everywhere, so he wasn't going to have to wash his shirt seven times to get any stains out. But she was extremely upset with herself. For everything. And she should be! What she did was unforgivable but Luke was right there. Luke was in her arms, right in front of her, still there. He didn't leave. And he actually managed to snap her back to reality. She didn't feel like she deserved any of this.
