As beast started to go deeper into the forest following the flowing river he would notice something about the forest. For all the lush life that seemed to be everywhere the forest was silent, there was no sounds of animals or wildlife around, the river while clear as can be and freshwater held no life, not even the smallest fish would be seen swimming in the calm moving water. It wasn’t as if the forest was barren with food. Trees that held ripe fruit and nuts were aplenty all over, all of them seemed to be untouched. If he went to try anything he would find that the fruit was exceptionally sweet and juicy, more so than anything he had in his own lifetime.
The deeper he went the older and larger the trees would become, at the start of the forest the trees were typical in height yet they would quickly start to grow in both how tall they were and how wide. After about ten minutes of walking following the river Beast would see trees rivaling the largest redwoods found in the world all around him and densely packed. Yet these trees still held all sorts of fruit and nuts that could be eaten. The ground under him felt soft and there was grass all around. From where he could see there wasn’t a clearing or an exit.
The river by this time had widened a great deal and was heading upwards as the ground was slightly slanted. It was at this time that Beast would hear something rustling some of the small bushes that had grown around the trees. It wouldn’t be hard to see what was there, a humanoid being was standing with a dazed look in it’s eye. It had the same prisoner uniform that beast would have had. It wandered around aimlessly as it seemed to have no direction in where it wanted to go or do. Beast would also see that on the back of it’s head it had a massive plant growth that seemed to be the very same trees that was all around him.
The moment he looked away from the river it would vanish and even the sound of it was gone. Looking back Beast would see that there was nothing left of what was once the river. Even the ground around him was now dry. The forest was strange and the humanoid if still alive would start to walk off with the growth on it’s back somewhat directing it towards the little sunlight that seemed to be trickling down from the canopies. A strong gust of wind came blowing a smell of rotting something towards beast, it seemed to be coming from deeper into the forest.
